  • Trouble running multiple Firefox versions on OS X Lion

    I am trying to use two versions of Firefox (11 and 13) on OS X Lion. I don't especially want to run two versions at the same time. I want to be able to run the version 11 when I choose the version 11 via the profile manager. The same for the version 13. Every time, I want to launch the version 11, the launcher launches the version 13... When I select the version 11 via the profile manager, Firefox 13 is launched. I created 2 automators apps (FF11.app and FF13.app) to launch Firefox : /Applications/Firefox11.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -no-remote -P FF11 & /dev/null & /Applications/Firefox13.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -no-remote -P FF13 & /dev/null & Any help would be greatly appreciated.   • Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2, built-in font smoothing

    I've just installed Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 onto my Windows XP to evaluate it and check whether it meets my preferences the way it did before. Okay, I've temporary defeated an urgent bug with a strange workaround (I could not open any file from the Solution Explorer), and it left bad memories to me. But however, it's okay. The first thing I've seen just opening the code editor was ClearType font rendering. Wow, so unexpectedly. I must note that I do not use standard Windows rendering techniques, but I still prefer GDI++, a font renderer developed by Japanese developers. (GDI++ allows to render the fonts in Mac/Win-Safari style over entire Windows.) Personally for me, GDI++ reaches the great font-rendering results allowing me to use the Dejavu Sans Mono font with really nice smoothing in Visual Studio 2008 (VS 2005 too, though VS 2005 crashes in this case). But GDI++ cannot affect Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 text editor - it uses ClearType (right?), and it does not care about the system font smoothing settings. It could be an editor based on WPF, right? So as far as I can see, I can't use GDI++ anymore because it uses Windows GDI(+) but no WPF? So I've got several questions: Is it possible to disable VS 2010 b2 built-in ClearType or override it with another font smoother? Is it possible to install a Safari-like font renderer for Visual Studio 2010 [betas]? Thanks a lot.

  • TFS 2010 and the missing Area & Iterations (stale data) Issue

    The symptom is this: you change some area or iteration in a TFS Project, but the change is not reflected (or updated) in VS or any other TFS Client. Well, it happens that TFS now has some clever caching mechanisms that need to be updated when you make a change like this, and those changes are propagated by some scheduled jobs TFS is continuously running in the Application Tier.  So, you you get this behavior, please check (and possibly restart) the "Visual Studio Team Foundation Background Job Agent" service. In my case, this service was logging a very odd "Object Reference Not Set" into the Windows Event Log, and a simple restart fixed it. Hope this is fixed by RTM...   (we are using the RC version). And by the way, if the job agent is broken there are some other things that stops working like email notifications. Best regards, Andrés G Vettori, CTO, VMBC

    When developing for mobile devices, what are some strategies to go about determining which mobile devices and OS versions to support? Do some teams set a certain policy in place, like "support devices used by more than 2% of users" or "support OS versions with over 10% of users?" For example, a reoccurring challenge I am running into is the decision whether to support only new OS versions like iOS7 or KitKat, or continue support for older versions. It would be helpful to know how others approach this decision.

    I want to downgrade to SL3 on my Mac after accidently installing SL4 Beta. I've tried the SL3 uninstall procedure: rm -rf /Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/Silverlight.plugin rm -rf /Library/Receipts/Silverlight*.pkg rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/Microsoft/Silverlight But still get an error message when I try to install SL3 saying there is a newer version there. Anyone got any input on how to do this ?

  • vestal_versions and htmldiff question of reversion...

    I'm guessing there's probably an easier way to do what I'm doing so that the code is less unwieldy. I had trouble understanding how to use the revert_to method... i wanted something where i could call up two different versions at the same time, but this doesn't seem to be the way that vestal_versions works.     I have installed iOS 6 beta, when it was released, in this summer. Yesterday, I have a screen on my iPhone, that activation is required. But, it is impossible to activate, because "servers is unaviable". It blazes through what should be a 150 MB download then fails installing the very first item after about 5 seconds. I had VS 2010 Beta 1 installed but removed it beforehand. Any tips for installing it right? Reprepro can't store several versions of the same package in the repository. But the ability to store several versions of the same package is essential to me, so I'm asking what soft can do such a thing.     Hi. I have a problem with uninstalling Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Extended Beta 2. I wanted to uninstall it but I cancelled the process. Then I was asked if there was a problem without uninstallation if I want to change to compatibility mode. I accidentally chose to change to compatibility mode. Since then, every time I try to uninstall it, I get an error that the installer cannot run in compatibility mode. How can I fix it? I look for installer file and it's not marked to run in compatibility mode. I cannot find the file that was marked to run in compatibility mode after answering mentioned question.     In ubuntu 9.04, I tried to upgrade from firefox 3.0 to 3.5, by installing some apt-get packages, and there is a problem! Now firefox calls itself "Namoroka" and the firefox logo is gone and replaced by a black square in the upper bar and it says it is a development beta version. I really don't like this version, how can I go back to the stable version of firefox? I tried apt-get remove firefox-3.5 and apt-get install firefox-3.0 and that did not work. How do I go back to the stable version of firefox?

  • Embedded video is not shown in internet explorer 9 RC or Beta

    In IE 9 RC or in beta, the embedded video is not shown in the web page. I verified the security settings in "internet options". Did not find any issue. Please find the screen shot below. I am able to view the flash videos in Youtube. But, for some reason, in some sites the embedded video is not shown. I don't have this issue with firefox. UPDATE: I am able to see view the embedded video in Admin account. But not able to view it in Standard account.

  • Installing VS2010 components with SP1 beta

    Hello, I hope this is the place for this kind of question. I have VS2010 ult with the Service Pack 1 beta installed. I want to play with F# and I need to install it. The problem is that because I have the SP1 installed, the VS DVD can't install the F# compiler. I click on add new feature, I click on F#, the installer says: "A selected drive is not longer valid. Please review your installation path settings before continuing with setup." Of course the path is correct and I can't change it anyway... I think that problem is because I have the SP1. I had the same problem in the past with VS2008 + SP1. What can I do? Uninstalling VS2010 is not an option, it take ages. Thank you.

  • Internet Explorer 9 beta installation problem

    I'm running Vista SP2, x64. Because I wanted to test out the IE9 beta, I downloaded the English-language installer for 64-bit Vista systems. Running the installer is fine until it starts downloading required updates. The progress bar doesn't get far before it completely stops moving. Then after 20 minutes to an hour, it will tell me that there's an update I have to install, but as soon as I click OK it sends me an error message, telling me that it can't go to the url of the update which is here. So I manually enter it into my browser, which prompts me to download a standalone update. After that's been downloaded and I run it, it tells me that the update does not apply to my system. I'd appreciate any help to solving my problem.

    Taking a look at NLog, it's unclear what version works with VS2010. It says that NLog 1.0 Refresh works with VS2010 beta but nothing else is indicated. There's an NLog 2.0 that is pre-beta that I'd rather not use if I didn't have to but it clearly does work with VS2010. So I'm wondering if I'm able to use 1.0 Refresh or do I need to go with 2.0 Preview 2?

  • Installing multiple php versions plus extensions on freebsd

    I'm a currently learning how to work with freebsd. Lately I have been trying to run multiple php versions along with their respective packages. However, I seem to be running into issues while making installations. The default location for my php installation is /usr/local/etc/, however I want to be able to install php5.2, php5.3 and php5.4 in /usr/local/etc/php52, /usr/local/etc/php53 and /usr/local/etc/php54 respectively. Using ports I simply achieved this by doing cd /usr/ports/lang/php5x && make PREFIX="/usr/local/etc/php5x" install clean. The problem now is: How do I do the same for extensions of all my PHP versions? When I try installing php-extensions like so: cd /usr/ports/lang/php5x-extension && make PREFIX="/usr/local/etc/php5x/lib/php" install clean, I get this error ... ===> PHPizing for php53-bcmath-5.3.17 env: /usr/local/bin/phpize: No such file or directory *** Error code 127 Stop in /usr/ports/math/php53-bcmath. *** Error code 1 Stop in /usr/ports/lang/php53-extensions. My PHPize is located in /usr/local/etc/php5x/bin/phpize So how do I get make or whatever to look for phpize in the right path? Is there a cleaner, may be simpler way of maintaining multiple php installations? I need to achieve this because of compatibility issues from some legacy code that runs on 5.2 and breaks on 5.3.
