  • Undefined reference to vtable

    - by RyanG
    So, I'm getting the infamously horrible "undefined reference to 'vtable..." error for the following code (The class in question is CGameModule.) and I cannot for the life of me understand what the problem is. At first, I thought it was related to forgetting to give a virtual function a body, but as far as I understand, everything is all here. The inheritance chain is a little long, but here is the related source code. I'm not sure what other information I should provide. My code: class CGameModule : public CDasherModule { public: CGameModule(Dasher::CEventHandler *pEventHandler, CSettingsStore *pSettingsStore, CDasherInterfaceBase *pInterface, ModuleID_t iID, const char *szName) : CDasherModule(pEventHandler, pSettingsStore, iID, 0, szName) { g_pLogger->Log("Inside game module constructor"); m_pInterface = pInterface; } virtual ~CGameModule() {}; std::string GetTypedTarget(); std::string GetUntypedTarget(); bool DecorateView(CDasherView *pView) { //g_pLogger->Log("Decorating the view"); return false; } void SetDasherModel(CDasherModel *pModel) { m_pModel = pModel; } virtual void HandleEvent(Dasher::CEvent *pEvent); private: CDasherNode *pLastTypedNode; CDasherNode *pNextTargetNode; std::string m_sTargetString; size_t m_stCurrentStringPos; CDasherModel *m_pModel; CDasherInterfaceBase *m_pInterface; }; } Inherits from... class CDasherModule; typedef std::vector<CDasherModule*>::size_type ModuleID_t; /// \ingroup Core /// @{ class CDasherModule : public Dasher::CDasherComponent { public: CDasherModule(Dasher::CEventHandler * pEventHandler, CSettingsStore * pSettingsStore, ModuleID_t iID, int iType, const char *szName); virtual ModuleID_t GetID(); virtual void SetID(ModuleID_t); virtual int GetType(); virtual const char *GetName(); virtual bool GetSettings(SModuleSettings **pSettings, int *iCount) { return false; }; private: ModuleID_t m_iID; int m_iType; const char *m_szName; }; Which inherits from.... namespace Dasher { class CEvent; class CEventHandler; class CDasherComponent; }; /// \ingroup Core /// @{ class Dasher::CDasherComponent { public: CDasherComponent(Dasher::CEventHandler* pEventHandler, CSettingsStore* pSettingsStore); virtual ~CDasherComponent(); void InsertEvent(Dasher::CEvent * pEvent); virtual void HandleEvent(Dasher::CEvent * pEvent) {}; bool GetBoolParameter(int iParameter) const; void SetBoolParameter(int iParameter, bool bValue) const; long GetLongParameter(int iParameter) const; void SetLongParameter(int iParameter, long lValue) const; std::string GetStringParameter(int iParameter) const; void SetStringParameter(int iParameter, const std::string & sValue) const; ParameterType GetParameterType(int iParameter) const; std::string GetParameterName(int iParameter) const; protected: Dasher::CEventHandler *m_pEventHandler; CSettingsStore *m_pSettingsStore; }; /// @} #endif

  • Return cell reference as result of if statement with vlookups.

    - by EMJ
    I have two sets of data in excel. One contains a set of data which represents the initial step of a process. The other set of data represents the additional steps which take place after the first step is completed. Each of the data records in the "additional step data" has an id in a column. I need to find the identifying codes of the "additional step data" which correspond with the initial step data records. The problem is that I have to match the data in 4 columns between the two data sets and return the id of the "additional step data". I started by doing a combination of an if and vlookup functions, but I got stuck when I tried to figure out how to get the if statement to reference the id of the matching "additional step data". Basically I am trying to avoid having to search by manually filtering between two sets of data and finding corresponding records. Does anyone have any idea about how to do this?

  • SQLAuthority News – Fast Track Data Warehouse 3.0 Reference Guide

    - by pinaldave
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg605238.aspx I am very excited that Fast Track Data Warehouse 3.0 reference guide has been announced. As a consultant I have always enjoyed working with Fast Track Data Warehouse project as it truly expresses the potential of the SQL Server Engine. Here is few details of the enhancement of the Fast Track Data Warehouse 3.0 reference architecture. The SQL Server Fast Track Data Warehouse initiative provides a basic methodology and concrete examples for the deployment of balanced hardware and database configuration for a data warehousing workload. Balance is measured across the key components of a SQL Server installation; storage, server, application settings, and configuration settings for each component are evaluated. Description Note FTDW 3.0 Architecture Basic component architecture for FT 3.0 based systems. New Memory Guidelines Minimum and maximum tested memory configurations by server socket count. Additional Startup Options Notes for T-834 and setting for Lock Pages in Memory. Storage Configuration RAID1+0 now standard (RAID1 was used in FT 2.0). Evaluating Fragmentation Query provided for evaluating logical fragmentation. Loading Data Additional options for CI table loads. MCR Additional detail and explanation of FTDW MCR Rating. • SQLAuthority News – Download SQL Server 2008 R2 Upgrade Technical Reference Guide

    - by pinaldave
    I recently come across very interesting white paper written for Microsoft by Solid Quality Mentors. A successful upgrade to SQL Server 2008 R2 should be smooth and trouble-free. To do that smooth transition, you must plan sufficiently for the upgrade and match the complexity of your database application. Otherwise, you risk costly and stressful errors and upgrade problems. SQL Server 2008 R2 Upgrade Technical Reference Guide is one of the best and comprehensive reference guide I have seen on the subject of SQL Server 2008 R2 upgrade. There are so many various subjects discussed about upgrade which one would always wanted to see. You can find the link of why one has to upgrade to SQL Server 2008 R2 over here: Why upgrade to SQL Server 2008 R2. White paper to upgrade to SQL Server 2008 R2 Upgrade Guide. Here is the quick list of content of the white paper. 1. Upgrade Planning and Deployment 2. Management and Development Tools 3. Relational Databases 4. High Availability 5. Database Security 6. Full-Text Search 7. Service Broker 8. Transact-SQL Queries 9. Notification Services 10. SQL Server Express 11. Analysis Services 12. Data Mining 13. Integration Services 14. Reporting Services 15. Other Microsoft Applications and Platforms Appendix 1: Version and Edition Upgrade Paths Appendix 2: Upgrade Planning Deployment and Tasks Checklist This white paper is indeed huge with 490 pages and 151,956 words.As I said, this is one of the most comprehensive white paper ever published on the subject. Just reading this white paper one can learn a lot about SQL Server. • LLVM-3.1 libLLVMSupport.a undefined reference to `dladdr'

    - by user91387
    I'm trying to compile using the llvm-3.1 package. I'm running 12.04 x64 (3.2.0-26 kernel) && 12.10 (3.5.0-4) x64 backported llvm-3.1 from quantal, then debian experimental. Next I tried 12.10 with the native ubuntu llvm-3.1 package; this failed as well. user@system:/tmp/llvm-test# make compiling cpp yacc file: decaf-llvm.y output file: decaf-llvm bison -b decaf-llvm -d decaf-llvm.y /bin/mv -f decaf-llvm.tab.c decaf-llvm.tab.cc flex -odecaf-llvm.lex.cc decaf-llvm.lex g++ -o ./decaf-llvm decaf-llvm.tab.cc decaf-llvm.lex.cc decaf-stdlib.c `llvm-config --cppflags --ldflags --libs core jit native` -ly -ll /usr/lib/llvm-3.1/lib/libLLVMSupport.a(Signals.o): In function `PrintStackTrace(void*)': (.text+0x6c): undefined reference to `dladdr' /usr/lib/llvm-3.1/lib/libLLVMSupport.a(Signals.o): In function `PrintStackTrace(void*)': (.text+0x18f): undefined reference to `dladdr' collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status make: *** [decaf-llvm] Error 1 I know the code works as I've run it in centos fine using llvm-3.1-6.fc18(rpm) Google was a bit helpful with this: "On some systems, incluning Ubuntu 11.10, linking may fail with message that libLLVMSupport.a in function PrintStackTrace(void*) has undefined reference to dladdr." "Workaround is to compile LLVM with cmake specifying the following variable: -DCMAKE_EXE_LINKER_FLAGS=-ldl" http://svn.dsource.org/projects/bindings/trunk/llvm-3.0/Readme I double checked y ldflags and everything seems ok. user@system:/llvm-config --ldflags -L/usr/lib/llvm-3.1/lib -lpthread -lffi -ldl -lm I'm unclear of what to do next; any suggestions?

  • How can we expose a .NET public const to COM interop

    - by JulienC
    For historical reasons, we need to expose string constants in .NET through COM interface. We managed to expose ENUM but we can't find a way to expose string const. We try the following code : <ComClass(ComClass1.ClassId, ComClass1.InterfaceId, ComClass1.EventsId)> _ Public Class ComClass1 #Region "COM GUIDs" ' These GUIDs provide the COM identity for this class ' and its COM interfaces. If you change them, existing ' clients will no longer be able to access the class. Public Const ClassId As String = "608c6545-977e-4260-a3cf-11545c82906a" Public Const InterfaceId As String = "12b8a6c7-e7f6-4022-becd-2efd8b3a756e" Public Const EventsId As String = "05a2856f-d877-4673-8ea8-20f5a9f268d5" #End Region ' A creatable COM class must have a Public Sub New() ' with no parameters, otherwise, the class will not be ' registered in the COM registry and cannot be created ' via CreateObject. Public Sub New() MyBase.New() End Sub Public Const chaine As String = "TEST" Public Sub Method() End Sub End Class But when we look on the OLE object viewer, we only see the method. See ScreenShot: screenshot of OLE viewer Anyone have an idea ? Thanks,

  • how-to initialize 'const std::vector<T>' like a c array

    - by vscharf
    Is there an elegant way to create and initialize a const std::vector<const T> like const T a[] = { ... } to a fixed (and small) number of values? I need to call a function frequently which expects a vector<T>, but these values will never change in my case. In principle I thought of something like namespace { const std::vector<const T> v(??); } since v won't be used outside of this compilation unit.

  • Magento My Account Layout XML Problem

    - by Remy
    Hi there, I'm having issues getting the customer.xml layout file to work properly for the customer's "my account" pages. The navigation links and the previously ordered items that are usually on the left hand side of the page won't show up on the page, but if I change the reference name to "content" in the xml file, it shows up (except it's obviously then on the right hand side). I've checked the template it's referencing (2columns-left.phtml), and the getChildHtml('left') is there in the correct position. The block that's causing the problem: <customer_account> <!-- Mage_Customer --> <reference name="root"> <action method="setTemplate"><template>page/2columns-left.phtml</template></action> </reference> <reference name="left"> <action method="unsetChild"><name>catalog.navigation.all</name></action> <action method="unsetChild"><name>callout.sendcard</name></action> <action method="unsetChild"><name>callout.specialorder</name></action> <block type="customer/account_navigation" name="customer_account_navigation" before="-" template="customer/account/navigation.phtml"> <action method="addLink" translate="label" module="customer"><name>account</name><path>customer/account/</path><label>Account Dashboard</label></action> <action method="addLink" translate="label" module="customer"><name>account_edit</name><path>customer/account/edit/</path><label>Account Information</label></action> <action method="addLink" translate="label" module="customer"><name>address_book</name><path>customer/address/</path><label>Address Book</label></action> </block> <block type="sales/reorder_sidebar" name="sale.reorder.sidebar" as="reorder" template="sales/reorder/sidebar.phtml"/> <remove name="tags_popular"/> </reference> </customer_account> This was basically copied straight over from another one of our sites where this works 100%. I've tried everything I can think of (changing the name of the reference in both the template and the layout xml, for example) to no avail. The templates that the layout is referencing are obviously working because they do show up when put into the "content" area. This installation of magento is version 1.3.1.1. I appreciate any advice you have to give me... *Update: I tried changing the reference to "global_messages", and it doesn't show there either. It only seems to work in the "content" section.* Update 2: These are the results of using the "showLayout=page" query string on the page when used with Alan Storm's very handy debugging module (which you'll find in his answer below). <?xml version="1.0"?> <layout><block type="page/html" name="root" output="toHtml" template="page/3columns.phtml"> <block type="page/html_head" name="head" as="head"> Consider the situation where a function template needs to forward an argument while keeping it's lvalue-ness in case it's a non-const lvalue, but is itself agnostic to what the argument actually is, as in: template <typename T> void target(T&) { cout << "non-const lvalue"; } template <typename T> void target(const T&) { cout << "const lvalue or rvalue"; } template <typename T> void forward(T& x) { target(x); } When x is an rvalue, instead of T being deduced to a constant type, it gives an error: int x = 0; const int y = 0; forward(x); // T = int forward(y); // T = const int forward(0); // Hopefully, T = const int, but actually an error forward<const int>(0); // Works, T = const int It seems that for forward to handle rvalues (without calling for explicit template arguments) there needs to be an forward(const T&) overload, even though it's body would be an exact duplicate. Is there any way to avoid this duplication?

  • Thread-safe initialization of function-local static const objects

    - by sbi
    This question made me question a practice I had been following for years. For thread-safe initialization of function-local static const objects I protect the actual construction of the object, but not the initialization of the function-local reference referring to it. Something like this: namspace { const some_type& create_const_thingy() { lock my_lock(some_mutex); static const some_type the_const_thingy; return the_const_thingy; } } void use_const_thingy() { static const some_type& the_const_thingy = create_const_thingy(); // use the_const_thingy } The idea is that locking takes time, and if the reference is overwritten by several threads, it won't matter. I'd be interested if this is safe enough in practice? safe according to The Rules? (I know, the current standard doesn't even know what "concurrency" is, but what about trampling over an already initialized reference? And do other standards, like POSIX, have something to say that's relevant to this?) For the inquiring minds: Many such function-local static const objects I used are maps which are initialized from const arrays upon first use and used for lookup. For example, I have a few XML parsers where tag name strings are mapped to enum values, so I could later switch over the tags enum values.

  • const pod and std::vector

    - by Baz
    To get this code to compile: std::vector<Foo> factory() { std::vector<Foo> data; return data; } I have to define my POD like this: struct Foo { const int i; const int j; Foo(const int _i, const int _j): i(_i), j(_j) {} Foo(Foo& foo): i(foo.i), j(foo.j){} Foo operator=(Foo& foo) { Foo f(foo.i, foo.j); return f; } }; Is this the correct approach for defining a pod where I'm not interested in changing the pod members after creation? Why am I forced to define a copy constructor and overload the assignment operator? Is this compatible for different platform implementations of std::vector? Is it wrong in your opinion to have const PODS like this? Should I just leave them as non-const?

  • Using a function with reference as a function with pointers?

    - by epatel
    Today I stumbled over a piece of code that looked horrifying to me. The pieces was chattered in different files, I have tried write the gist of it in a simple test case below. The code base is routinely scanned with FlexeLint on a daily basis, but this construct has been laying in the code since 2004. The thing is that a function implemented with a parameter passing using references is called as a function with a parameter passing using pointers...due to a function cast. The construct has worked since 2004 on Irix and now when porting it actually do work on Linux/gcc too. My question now. Is this a construct one can trust? I can understand if compiler constructors implement the reference passing as it was a pointer, but is it reliable? Are there hidden risks? Should I change the fref(..) to use pointers and risk braking anything in the process? What to you think? #include <iostream> using namespace std; // ---------------------------------------- // This will be passed as a reference in fref(..) struct string_struct { char str[256]; }; // ---------------------------------------- // Using pointer here! void fptr(const char *str) { cout << "fptr: " << str << endl; } // ---------------------------------------- // Using reference here! void fref(string_struct &str) { cout << "fref: " << str.str << endl; } // ---------------------------------------- // Cast to f(const char*) and call with pointer void ftest(void (*fin)()) { void (*fcall)(const char*) = (void(*)(const char*))fin; fcall("Hello!"); } // ---------------------------------------- // Let's go for a test int main() { ftest((void (*)())fptr); // test with fptr that's using pointer ftest((void (*)())fref); // test with fref that's using reference return 0; }

  • Does binding temporary to a reference require a copy constructor in C++?

    - by vitaut
    Consider the following code: class A { A(const A&); public: A() {} }; int main() { const A &a = A(); } This code compiles fine with GCC, but fails to compile with Visual C++ with the following error: test.cc(8) : error C2248: 'A::A' : cannot access private member declared in class 'A' test.cc(2) : see declaration of 'A::A' test.cc(1) : see declaration of 'A' So is it necessary to have a copy constructor accessible when binding a temporary to a reference?

  • Atmospheric Scattering

    - by Lawrence Kok
    I'm trying to implement atmospheric scattering based on Sean O`Neil algorithm that was published in GPU Gems 2. But I have some trouble getting the shader to work. My latest attempts resulted in: http://img253.imageshack.us/g/scattering01.png/ I've downloaded sample code of O`Neil from: http://http.download.nvidia.com/developer/GPU_Gems_2/CD/Index.html. Made minor adjustments to the shader 'SkyFromAtmosphere' that would allow it to run in AMD RenderMonkey. In the images it is see-able a form of banding occurs, getting an blueish tone. However it is only applied to one half of the sphere, the other half is completely black. Also the banding appears to occur at Zenith instead of Horizon, and for a reason I managed to get pac-man shape. I would appreciate it if somebody could show me what I'm doing wrong. • Recommendations on eReader for technical reference material

    - by Aaron Kowall
    I’ve been thinking that an eBook reader would be handy since I travel a lot.  I’m not really all that worried about taking novels and pleasure reading as much as taking along work related books and reference material. I haven’t really done a lot of research into the various options (Sony, Kindle, Nook, iPad, etc.) but am aware that not all content can be read on all readers even if it is in ePub format due to DRM. Anybody got a recommendation on which device/store combination offers the best selection of technical reference for a .Net developer with a particular interest in software process engineering? HELP!! • How to add a Web Reference to a SSL web service?

    - by Matt W
    Hi, I have a web service in a C#/3.5 project which has been running fine. This is until I set the "SSL port" in IIS to 443 and set the "IIS - Directory Security - Secure Communications - Require secure channel (SSL)" option to true. Now, the web reference cannot be updated and I cannot add a new web reference to the web service in that site. When I try to view the service in a browse using just HTTP I get the "This page must be viewed over a secure channel" and when viewed with HTTPS on the front I get "This web page not available." Could someone tell me how to get a Web Reference added using Visual Studio to this secure web service, please? Thanks, Matt.

  • VS 2010: New Add Reference dialog, tab layout and options

    - by Fabrice Marguerie
    Microsoft has just published a new free extension for Visual Studio 2010 that provides an improved Add Reference dialog, an improved tab bar, and much more.The new Add Reference dialog comes with a long-awaited feature: it's now searchable!The tab bar allows you to display the close button at the end of the bar and not on each tab. It can also sort tabs by project and alphabetically. Tab color can vary by project or according to regular expressions.I'll let you discover about the other features by yourself (HTML Copy, Triple Click, Current Line Highlighting, etc.).The name of the extension is Visual Studio Pro Power Tools. I believe it's main features will come out-of-the-box with the next version of Visual Studio.
