  • Having set up a DCHP server, what do I need to do for the rest of my network?

    I've got a Raspberry Pi arriving any day now, and I intend to use it (amongst other things) as a DHCP server. Currently we have a few devices on our network to which we would like to assign static IPs, and a router, which is currently the DHCP server (the router can assign static IPs, but is buggy as hell, I've never got the config to stick for more than a few hours). Having connected the Pi to the network and configured dhcpl-3-server, what do I need to do on the rest of my network so that it works properly (clients get their IPs from the Pi, and use the Router as the default gateway)?

I tried uninstalling every plugin could had problems with the metatags but nothing worked, I reinstalled one of them and still not working, When i look on the code everything looks fine but im not an expert, can anyone tell me what is wrong and how the hell can i fix it?

  • Ideal laptop specs for a Computer Science Masters student? [closed]

    I have a HP pavillion core 2 duo 2 GHz and 4 GB RAM, and it is painful to use this machine for any kind of coding. Eclipse (especially Juno) literally takes 5 minutes to load. And even after that, everything is lagy. Apart from school stuff, I also use my computer as a television. I watch Hulu, Netflix, YouTube etc in 720p, and this laptop gets hot as hell and the fans are loud enough to wake somebody up from deep sleep. I DON'T use my laptop for Gaming or Video/Photo Editing. I'm looking to buy a new laptop (in which most widely used IDEs would work smoothly and playing hi-def videos wouldn't be too much for the machine to handle) any suggestions (on hardware specs) would be greatly appreciated.     I was trying to upgrade my 2nd computer's hard drive, and in the process, I un-admin'd and disabled my account. I'm using the guest account right now. I've tried everything that ask ubuntu has to offer (or at least after 5 hours of searching, trying, and failing) i.e., creating a new account (didn't allow me to do it), usermod, passwd, anything involving sudo, hell, I can't even get into recovery mode with the left shift thing... I really want to get into my account. Please help me.

  • Spawning bullets on command in Box2D

    I'm making a simple bullet hell game but I can't figure out how to get my character to shoot. Lets say I have bulletBody and shipBody, how would I continually spawn bulletBodies using the shipBody coordinates. I've tried a function that uses an array of b2bodies and just assigns them the bodydef and fixture but that causes the game to crash. C++ sample code would be best but any help is appreciated. EDIT: It looks like any reference to my b2World in a function will cause the game to crash. How do I declare the bodies without using a b2World as an argument in the function.

  • iOS App Store Under 18 - Post via private limited company? [closed]

    I'm 17 years old and wish to post an application on the iOS App Store. My situation is a little different to other users doing the same thing, though. I'm finding this very frustrating. It's very annoying that Apple don't let younger talent post themselves. Is it true that if I do post under my Father's name I can choose a different name to be listed on the app store? I want to keep this professional, I don't want my father's name to appear underneath the application on the store. :P I have registered myself as the company director of a private limited company. Even though I'm the only one in the company, is this a way to bypass the 18+ restriction or do I need a minimum of 2 employees? Why the hell has this been closed? Thanks

    I did a fresh install of Ubuntu then do did some upgrades. After my next restart when I try to open Ubuntu Software Center it took about 20 seconds for the window to load then 10 more seconds before it became click able. While doing some installation of software, Unity lags like hell that every time I click any application it takes a few seconds before I can see it. Even GEdit take a lot of time to load. The worst part was when I was doing nothing to my computer. Even on that part, my computer lags. My Laptop is a Brand New Core i3 with 2GB of RAM. Unity should run perfectly on that kind of machine right? BTW: I reinstalled Ubuntu 11.04 for about 5 times now and still nothing changed.

    I want to use Ubuntu. I have Win 7 Home Premium 32-bit right now... I used to have 64 on this laptop (Toshiba Satellite c650) but my disc got a ring of death. Intel Penium CPU B940 2.00GHz, 4GB RAM Also, I'm guessing I need an image mounter such as PowerISO to install Ubuntu, if I don't have a DVD lying around that I can mount to? I'm a noob. Thanks for your help, in advance. EDIT: My question wasn't clear... can my processor and RAM handle 64-bit Ubuntu? Hell of a lot nicer than Win7

  • ASUS U24a can't boot without live disk

    I recently picked up a new ASUS U24a while travelling in asia. I've managed to go through hell with the UEFI setup, and finally now have a working GRUB. However, I can't manage to get past the "Loading initial ramdisk". If I boot the live CD-USB (only in BIOS legacy mode), I get a wonderful, working Ubuntu. I finally managed to get UEFI installed on the hard-drive (no option for legacy BIOS boot, or I'd be there in a flash!), and can boot in UEFI mode into GRUB2. But... I can't manage to get past the "loading initial ramdisk". It appears that the disk drivers are failing (there is no disk activity after this point).     i have AMD E-450 1.65ghz, 4gb DDR3 ram, HD6320 laptop with dual boot ubuntu 13.04 and win 8.1, my main gaming rig(desktop pc) is with win7(so i am not playing serious games on this laptop) and for university i mostly use ubuntu(unix and programming tasks), for some free time i found dosbox on ubuntu software center and tryed playing several games(blood, syndicate wars) and all of them lag like hell(although on win 8.1 they work perfectly). So any suggestion how to solve the problem? i am using drivers X.org (in software settingsadditional settings) tryed proprietary ones but all screen colors was kinda strange and i couldn't control brightness at all... same dos games was lagging too.

I have no problems after the initialization just when i subsequently try to update the values.     I have an entity (let's say Person) with a set of arbitrary attributes with a known subset of values. I need to search for all of these entities that match all my filter conditions. That is, given a set of Attributes A, I need to find all people that have a set of Attributes that are a superset of A. For example, my table structures look like this: Person: id | name 1 | John Doe 2 | Jane Roe 3 | John Smith Attribute: id | attr_name 1 | Sex 2 | Eye Color ValidValue: id | attr_id | value_name 1 | 1 | Male 2 | 1 | Female 3 | 2 | Blue 4 | 2 | Green 5 | 2 | Brown PersonAttributes id | person_id | attr_id | value_id 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 2 | 1 | 2 | 3 3 | 2 | 1 | 2 4 | 2 | 2 | 4 5 | 3 | 1 | 1 6 | 3 | 2 | 4 In JPA, I have entities built for all of these tables. What I'd like to do is perform a search for all entities matching a given set of attribute-value pairs. For instance, I'd like to be able to find all males (John Doe and John Smith), all people with green eyes (Jane Roe or John Smith), or all females with green eyes (Jane Roe). I see that I can already take advantage of the fact that I only really need to match on value_id, since that's already unique and tied to the attr_id. But where can I go from there? I've been trying to do something like the following, given that the ValidValue is unique in all cases: select distinct p from Person p join p.personAttributes a where a.value IN (:values) Then I've tried putting my set of required values in as "values", but that gives me errors no matter how I try to structure that. I also have to get a little more complicated, as follows, but at this point I'd be happy with solving the first problem cleanly. However, if it's possible, the Attribute table actually has a field for default value: id | attr_name | default_value 1 | Sex | 1 2 | Eye Color | 5 If the value you're searching on happens to be the default value, I want it to return any people that have no explicit value set for that attribute, because in the application logic, that means they inherit the default value. Again, I'm more concerned about the primary question, but if someone who can help with that also has some idea of how to do this one, I'd be extremely grateful.

  • gluLookAt vectors and FPS-style camera

    I am attempting to implemented an FPS-style camera by updating three vectors: EYE, DIR, UP. These vectors are the same that are used by gluLookAt (since gluLookAt is specified by the position of the camera, the direction it is looking at, and an up vector). I have already implemented the left-right and up-down strafing movements, but I'm having a lot of trouble understanding the math behind making the camera look-around while remaining stationary. In this case, the EYE vector remains the same, while I must update DIR and UP. Below is the code I tried, but it doesn't seem to work properly. Any suggestions?     I have a Dell Precision M4500, Intel Core i5 CPU, running Linux (Ubuntu Lucid), and would like to keep an eye on CPU temperature. I've tried lm-sensors: sensors-detect didn't find any sensors; following its hint ("This is relatively common on laptops, where thermal management is handled by ACPI rather than the OS.") I tried acpi -V but got nothing thermal. The Gnome panel applet "Hardware Sensors Monitor" reports on GPU temperature but nothing else. What should I be trying next?

    When I click on a photo in Vista I get a fix button: When I click on a photo in Windows 7 I don't get a fix button: I used to use this fix button often to fix red-eye and alter the brightness quickly, and the auto-saving was so fast. If I can't get "Windows Photo Viewer" to do this, I'll have to http://www.irfanview.com again to do this.

    I downloaded an app several months ago for the Mac that enabled me to adjust the colors of the monitor to work with different light sources. There was a filter for daylight, incandescent, fluorescent, etc. After re-installing I can't seem to locate it again. Does anyone know this application? UPDATE Never mind, after all that Googling and asking here I found it. It's called Flux http://www.stereopsis.com/flux/ Highly recommended if you have any eye strain.

  • How do I remove the black statusbar on Vimperator for Firefox?

    I recently installed Vimperator and found it awesome, however not really fitting for my everyday tasks. So instead of disabling and enabling it each time, I decided to keep it enabled and show the Firefox toolbar. My only problem is that the black (or other colors depending on the security of the site) bar at the bottom breaks the persona induced eye-candy. Is there any way to permanently change the color of the bar, or hide it while I'm using Vimperator?

  • What's the appropriate way to upgrade Apache in RHEL?

    The version of Apache shipped in RHEL 5.4 is very old. A feature I need only shipped recently. It seems Apache upstream only ships tarballs, and omits binary packages. Obviously I could build from source, but what's the canonical way to upgrade a single package like this? Is it common procedure to drop a newer tarball in the existing SPEC, or does someone already do all this with an eye towards RHEL?
