    - by faya
Hello, If I have a derived object of QWidget class and on slot function in it I have an update(). here is some pseudocode: *.h slot: updateNow(); *.cpp constructor() { setPalllete(QPallete(QColor(250,250,200))); setAUtoFillBackground(true); } updateNow() { update(); } paintEvent() { QPainter painter(this); painter.drawRect(1,2,3,4); } So how should I don't get erased my pallete after update() call? • Masked Input Using EditText Widget in Android

    - by Buzzy
Is there a way I can specify an input mask to the EditText control in Android? I want be able to specify something like ### - ## - #### for a Social Security Number. This will cause any invalid input to be rejected automatically (example, I type alphabetical characters instead of numeric digits). I realize that I can add an OnKeyListener and manually check for validity. But this is tedious and I will have to handle various edge cases. Buzzy

  • Keyboard- and mouse-event transparent widget

    - by Gajender
When i click a button my main window i want it to become transparent to keyboard and mouse events, i.e. all keyboard and mouse events should pass to any windows below it as if that window is not present there. "Qt::WA_TransparentForMouseEvents" does not work here as this only make child windows transparent to keyboard and mouse events i guess. And my window is main window and i want to pass all event to any window on desktop not just parent window.

  • Tab widget example not running

    - by michbeck
I'm trying to reproduce the tabwidget example (http://developer.android.com/resources/tutorials/views/hello-tabwidget.html). I'm not really sure what's the problem, I got no errors while compiling, but i cannot see the application on the emulators screen. It would be excellent if maybe anyone could have a look at my classes and tell me what's my mistake? • How to control dojo widget classes, or how to get fine-grained control of style

    - by djna
I am creating a UI with dojo that is emulting some aspects of an existing thick client application. I need to programatically put two different menu bars on the same page. I have successfully created the two menu bars using new dijit.Menu(); new dijit.MenuItem(); and so on. Now I want to give them slightly different presentation styles. As I'm going to have quite a few pages of this sort my first thought is to use different CSS style classes. And that's the problem: when I create the Menu and it's items we get quite a set of HTML objects, each with CSS classes specified by dojo, and the classes are the same for the items associated with either menu. How can I best get specific control for any one menu? I could determine the dojo-generated ids for each item, and specify styles by ids, but that seems like hard work. Is there an sensible way to control the classes defined by dojo, or a nice CSS way to select only the items associated with one menu bar?

  • How to implement scrolling content widget

    - by alokswain
Example website is http://www.wikihow.com/Main-Page, check the "Recent Changes" heading on the right side. I am really amazed with the implementation of such scroll bars. Google also uses something very similar to this. Can someone give me some idea how to do this using jquery.

  • Newbie: Render RGB to GTK widget -- howto?

    - by Billy Pilgrim
Hi All, Big picture: I want to render an RGB image via GTK on a linux box. I'm a frustrated GTK newbie, so please forgive me. I assume that I should create a Drawable_area in which to render the image -- correct? Do I then have to create a graphics context attached to that area? How? my simple app (which doesn't even address the rgb issue yet is this: int main(int argc, char** argv) { GdkGC * gc = NULL; GtkWidget * window = NULL; GtkDrawingArea * dpage = NULL; GtkWidget * page = NULL; gtk_init( &argc, & argv ); window = gtk_window_new( GTK_WINDOW_TOPLEVEL ); page = gtk_drawing_area_new( ); dpage = GTK_DRAWING_AREA( page ); gtk_widget_set_size_request( page, PAGE_WIDTH, PAGE_HEIGHT ); gc = gdk_gc_new( GTK_DRAWABLE( dpage ) ); gtk_widget_show( window ); gtk_main(); return (EXIT_SUCCESS); } my dpage is apparently not a 'drawable' (though it is a drawing area). I am confused as to a) how do I get/create the graphics context which is required in subsequent function calls? b) am I close to a solution, or am I so completely *#&@& wrong that there is no hope c) a baby steps tutorial. (I started with hello world as my base, so I got that far). any and all help appreciated. bp

  • Android: chronometer widget and layout() method could not work well at the same time

    - by Lennard
I write a test android app, in which there are only two views, a chronometer and a imageview. Using the layout() method of the imageview to dynamically change the position of it, I wish to implement drag-and-drop effect. It does work. However, each time the chronometer ticks, the imageview is always reverted to its original position, which seems that the whole screen is reloaded from the layout xml. So, does anybody know how to prevent the imageview from reverting to the original place, and let chronometer and drag-and-drop effect coexist? Thx

  • which view/widget can support zooming in android?

    - by Sephy
Hi everybody, I think my question is fairly clear, I would like to know if every kind of view can support zoom. I know that some have built in zoom controls like the MapView and the WebView, but how about a LinearLayout with some TextViews and ImageViews? I will edit this post to have a list of the answers.

  • Qt: Dragging a widget to scroll the widget's parent QScrollArea?

    - by samsonite
I've got a long horizontal QLabel displaying a png (the image shows a signal/time graph). Under that, I've got a QTableWidget. Both of these are in a QScrollArea because I want them to stay vertically aligned (the cells in the table correspond with the signal seen directly above them). I'm trying to add a handler to the QLabel such that the user can use the picture itself to scroll the scrollarea, rather than having to use the scrollbar. Is there a tried-and-tested way to do this? Directly setting the scrollarea's sliderPosition inside the QLabel's dragMoveEvent doesn't seem smart, because when the scrollarea scrolls it also leads to another dragMoveEvent on the (moving) QLabel.

  • jQuery: Need to "refresh" a widget.

    - by Legend
I am adapting the Coverflow technique to work with a div. The coverflow function (included as a js file in the head section) is here. When I dynamically add a DIV, it doesn't show up in the coverflow. I am wondering if there is a way to add a destroy function to this js file so that whenever a new div add is added, I can call the destroy method and then reinstantiate. Any suggestions on how I should go about doing this?

  • Free object/widget in GTK?

    - by wag2639
I've got a pack box in my GTK application and I'm replacing it every once in a while with a completely new entry (at least for now cause I'm in a hurry). Since I'm replacing it with a new instance, do I need to explicitly free from memory the old pack box contents or is there some garbage collection in GTK? If I do need to explicitly need to free the object, is there a command that will recursively go to all objects in that tree (like will it clear my button in a box container inside my main pack box)? I'm using C/GTK-2.0 (gcc v4.4.3 and GTK 2.20.0).

  • Reserve space for initially hidden widget in QVBoxLayout

    - by Skinniest Man
I am using a QVBoxLayout to arrange a vertical stack of widgets. I want some of them to be initially hidden and only show up when a check box is checked. Here is an example of the code I'm using. MyWidget::MyWidget(QWidget *parent) : QWidget(parent) { QVBoxLayout *layout = new QVBoxLayout(this); QLabel *labelLogTypes = new QLabel(tr("Log Types")); m_checkBoxCsv = new QCheckBox(tr("&Delimited File (CSV)")); m_labelDelimiter = new QLabel(tr("Delimiter:")); m_lineEditDelimiter = new QLineEdit(","); checkBoxCsv_Toggled(m_checkBoxCsv-isChecked()); connect(m_checkBoxCsv, SIGNAL(toggled(bool)), SLOT(checkBoxCsv_Toggled(bool))); QHBoxLayout *layoutDelimitedChar = new QHBoxLayout(); layoutDelimitedChar-addWidget(m_labelDelimiter); layoutDelimitedChar-addWidget(m_lineEditDelimiter); m_checkBoxXml = new QCheckBox(tr("&XML File")); m_checkBoxText = new QCheckBox(tr("Plain &Text File")); // Now that everything is constructed, put it all together // in the main layout. layout-addWidget(labelLogTypes); layout-addWidget(m_checkBoxCsv); layout-addLayout(layoutDelimitedChar); layout-addWidget(m_checkBoxXml); layout-addWidget(m_checkBoxText); layout-addStretch(); } MyWidget::checkBoxCsv_Toggled(bool checked) { m_labelDelimiter-setVisible(checked); m_lineEditDelimiter-setVisible(checked); } I want m_labelDelimiter and m_lineEditDelimiter both to be initially invisible and I want their visibility to toggle with the state of m_checkBoxCsv. This code acheives the functionality I desire, but it doesn't seem to reserve space for the two initially hidden widgets. When I check the checkbox, they become visible, but everything is kind of scrunched to accomodate them. If I leave them initially visible, everything is laid out just the way I would like it. Is there any way to make the QVBoxLayout reserve space for these widgets even if they're initially invisible?

  • StackOverflow WordPress Plugin: Sidebar Widget [closed]

    - by Fernando
I used the idea from "StackOverflow badge to show in your blog" from here to develop a small WordPress plugin to show your SO reputation and badges on your WordPress weblog sidebar. It's awfully lacking some graphic design, style, color, etc. I also thought of adding the user avatar, and images for the different badges. But it's working so far, and it's pretty late and I have to get some sleep. But I'll add the stuff I mentioned tomorrow. That was quite an interesting PHP challenge. Hope someone finds it as usefull as me (already showing it off on my blog :P ). If you're interested: Download it here

  • Operating System Widget Side Project

    - by Calpis
I want to start on a side project and here's my idea: Whenever the user's mouse is pressed down, I want a small ring around the cursor to show up. I'm mainly doing this to learn more about programming and get myself to think outside of work related materials. My questions are: 1) is there a good source I can reference to start a project that deals with something like this? 2) Is visual studio a sufficient software to create such an application? Or would I need some other tool to do this. 3) What language should I choose to do this task? Thanks in advance!

  • C++ MFC add combo box string item from a widget ID

    - by OzBarry
I've added a combo box in the gui editor in MSVC 2010 pro in my MFC project. I have a list of strings I am grabbing from an external source and want to add them to my combo box. I've searched for a while, and every post seems to suggest I need to use the CComboBox class, however, I have no idea how to get the class variable from the resource ID of the combobox element in the gui editor. In summary, how do I add a string to my combo box, either using a macro (like CB_ADDSTRING(RESOURCE_ID, "my string");) or using CComboBOx (something like CComboBox::GetObject(RESOURCE_ID)->AddString("blah");). I do not do much win32 api/mfc programming, and just started fiddling around with it.

  • PyQt - How to connect multiple signals to the same widget

    - by Orchainu
[ ]All1 [ ]All2 [ ]checkbox1A [ ]checkbox1B [ ]checkbox2A [ ]checkbox2B Based on the chart above, a few things need to happen: The All checkboxes only affect the on/off of the column it resides in, and checks on/off all the checkboxes in that column. All checkboxes work in pairs, so if checkbox1A is on/off, checkbox1B needs to be on/off If an All checkbox is checked on, and then the user proceeds to check off one or more checkbox in the column, the All checkbox should be unchecked, but all the checkboxes that are already checked should remain checked. So really this is more like a chain reaction setup. If checkbox All1 is on, then chieckbox1A and 2A will be on, and because they are on, checkbox1B and 2B are also on, but checkbox All2 remains off. I tried hooking up the signals based on this logic, but only the paired logic works 100%. The All checkbox logic only works 50% of the time, and not accurately, and there's no way for me to turn off the All checkbox without turning all already checked checkboxes off. Really really need help ... T-T Sample code: cbPairKeys = cbPairs.keys() for key in cbPairKeys: cbOne = cbPairs[key][0][0] cbTwo = cbPairs[key][1][0] cbOne.stateChanged.connect(self.syncCB) cbTwo.stateChanged.connect(self.syncCB) def syncCB(self): pairKeys = cbPairs.keys() for keys in pairKeys: cbOne = cbPairs[keys][0][0] cbOneAllCB = cbPairs[keys][0][4] cbTwo = cbPairs[keys][1][0] cbTwoAllCB = cbPairs[keys][1][4] if self.sender() == cbOne: if cbOne.isChecked() or cbTwoAllCB.isChecked(): cbTwo.setChecked(True) else: cbTwo.setChecked(False) else: if cbTwo.isChecked() or cbOneAllCB.isChecked(): cbOne.setChecked(True) else: cbOne.setChecked(False) EDIT Thanks to user Avaris's help and patience, I was able to reduce the code down to something much cleaner and works 100% of the time on the 1st and 2nd desired behavior: #Connect checkbox pairs cbPairKeys = cbPairs.keys() for key in cbPairKeys: cbOne = cbPairs[key][0][0] cbTwo = cbPairs[key][1][0] cbOne.toggled.connect(cbTwo.setChecked) cbTwo.toggled.connect(cbOne.setChecked) #Connect allCB and allRO signals cbsKeys = allCBList.keys() for keys in cbsKeys: for checkbox in allCBList[keys]: keys.toggled.connect(checkbox.setChecked) Only need help on turning off the All checkbox when the user selectively turns off the modular checkboxes now

  • "Share on LinkedIn" widget chokes on encoded spaces in url param

    - by David Droddy
Does anyone know why I am not able to include my own, URL encoded URL params with URL encoded spaces? See the URL on my jsBin page constructed from LinkedIn's example--I have added (%3FnestedParam%3Done%20space) at the end of the "URL" value. THEN, if you remove the encoded space (%3FnestedParam%3DoneSpace) it works fine: Try it out: http://jsbin.com/acosa3/3 Thanks!

  • Live Updating Widget for 100+ concurrent users

    - by flavio87
Hi there what would you use if you had to have a div box on your website that would have to be updated constantly with new HTML content from the server. simple polling is probably not very resource inefficient - imagine also having 10'000 users and the div has to update. what is the most efficient or elegant solution for such a problem? are there existing widgets which contain this "autoupdate" functionality?

  • Changing a Widget's name based on a string read in from an XML form in Qt.

    - by Nick
    I'm writing a code for a voting machine that will allow user to read in custom XML ballots and then vote on them, however in the current build I have in QtCreator, I don't see an easy way to edit buttons in my GUI directly. In the code snippet below, I assign an element to pull out the names and type of ballot being read in, but I need to append a label on the GUI as well as change buttons to the names of candidates read in. Any ideas on how to do this? while(!n.isNull()){ QDomNode x = n.firstChildElement(); QDomElement e = n.toElement(); QMessageBox::information(0, tr( "Loading Element" ), tr( "Our element is %1" ).arg(e.tagName()) ); QDomElement p = x.firstChildElement();//p finds Races QMessageBox::information(0,tr("Foo"),tr("p = %1").arg(p.text()));//finds Race and Ballot types n = n.nextSibling(); } }
