• Rails - Preventing users from contributing to website when there score is too low - callback / obser

  A User can add a Sentence directly on my website, via twitter or email. To add a sentence they must have a minimum score. If they don't have the minimum score they cant post the sentence and a warning message is either flashed on the website, sent back to them via twitter or email. So I'm wondering how best to code this check. Im thinking a sentence observer. So far my thoughts are in before_create score_sufficient() - score ok = save - score too low = do not save In the case of too low i need to return some flag so that the calling code can then fire off teh relevant warning. What type of flag should I return? False is too ambiguous as that could refer to validation. I could raise an exception but that doesn't sound right or I could return a symbol? Is this even the right approach? What's the best way to code this?

• jQuery switchClass

  Is it possible to undo a switchClass transaition? I'd like an element to slowly obtain class A as you hover over it, and slowly lose it again once the mouse has moved away. However, the function appears to be glitchy, and calling .stop(0,1) doesn't seem to help. In fact, it seems to break it. I have a live example here. Yes, it's a 404 page, but that's not important. The navigation should be slowly gaining or losing a class, but it just jumps. The script can be found here. Is such a transition possible?

  Hi I'm trying to show hidden form in process1 from another one was called by : Process.Start(@"F:\MyOtherFormPath\MyOtherForm.exe",this.Handle.ToInt32()); As you can see i passed the handle number of the hidden form ,which i'm calling the "MyOtherForm" from, and i used this number to get a handle and show the hidden form from my "MyOtherForm" like this : Form newFrm = Form.FromHandle(new IntPtr(long.Parse(handleNumberOfMyHiddenForm))); newFrm.show(); But it didn't work, any way to do this . • Semicolon in object variable name

  There's a common LDAP attribute called userCertificate;binary. It actually has a semi-colon in the attribute name. In ruby, I turn an LDAP entry into a OpenStruct object called 'struct'. struct.class = OpenStruct But of course ruby thinks it's an end-of-line character. ? struct.userCertificate;binary NameError: undefined local variable or method `binary' for main:Object from (irb):52 from :0 IRB knows that the local variable is there, because it gives me struct.userCertificate;binary from the tab auto-completion. I can also see the class variable when calling struct.methods on it. struct.methods = ... "send", "methods", "userCertificate;binary=", "hash", ... It's definitely there, I can see the contents if I print the whole variable to_s(). But how can I access the local variable when it has a semicolon in it? I have workarounds for this but I thought it was an interesting problem to post.

  am using django.0.97 version i have model called profile in that i have few fields eg like name ,email...ects and it's backend also ready..i.e database . and all users profile is created...i have given all permission to all users. when i login ,click on profile..i able to see list of all user name thr when i click on it ,it's goin to model page where i can edit the user profile..instead of that i want to navigate to a template when i can display the user details ,i have set the URl for it so that when url of that type request comes it should call a view from view it will call my template to display user details,.....the problem is it's not calling my view.... i think my problem is brief....if any information still required ?? pls ask me....and help me

  Ok I'm using getSharedPreferences to store my high score but before I fill it up I wanted to sort the scores into ascending order via and array, but if it finds a Score less than it in the first pos then it wont check the rest for the smallest? //function to add score to array and sort it public void addscoretoarray(int mScore){ for(int pos = 0; pos< score.length; pos++){ if(score[pos] > mScore){ //do nothing }else { //Add the score into that position score[pos] = mScore; break; } } sortArray(score); } should I call sortArray() before and after the loop to fix this problem or is there a better method to achive the same results?   Let there be class Example defined as: class Example def initialize(test='hey') self.class.send(:define_method, :say_hello, lambda { test }) end end On calling Example.new; Example.new I get a warning: method redefined; discarding old say_hello. This, I conclude, must be because it defines a method in the actual class (which makes sense, from the syntax). And that, of course, would prove disastrous should there be multiple instances of Example with different values in their methods. Is there a way to create methods just for the instance of a class from inside that instance? Thanks so much.

  hi folks, i got a crazy error within that for-loop matr=realloc(matr, newmax*sizeof(matr*)); for (i=0; i<newmax; i++){ matr[i]=realloc(matr[i], newmax*sizeof(int)); } matr is a multi-dimension array: int **matr. i need to resize column and row. first line resizes column and the for-loop resizes every row. it worked fine in c. now im working on a library for lua and it crashs here. compilin' works fine as well. but calling from lua crashs with lua: malloc.c:3552: mremap_chunk: Assertion `((size + offset) & (mp_.pagesize-1)) == 0' failed. i have no damn idea since it's working fine using it in c.

I have created a swing application that basically has three input strings in JTextFields: loanAmount, interestRate and loanYears and a single submit button with the EventAction. I'm trying to use the java.util.Scanner to parse the input to primitive types that I can use in calculations. • Ruby: Read large data from stdout and stderr of an external process on Windows

  Greetings, all, I need to run a potentially long-running process from Ruby on Windows and subsequently capture and parse the data from the external process's standard output and error. A large amount of data can be sent to each, but I am only necessarily interested in one line at a time (not capturing and storing the whole of the output). After a bit of research, I found that the Open3 class would take care of executing the process and giving me IO objects connected to the process's standard output and error (via popen3). Open3.popen3("external-program.bat") do |stdin, out, err, thread| # Step3.profit() ? end However, I'm not sure how to continually read from both streams without blocking the program. Since calling IO#readlines on out or err when a lot of data has been sent results in a memory allocation error, I'm trying to continuously check both streams for available input, but not having much luck with any of my implementations. • Can I use a stream to INSERT or UPDATE a row in SQL Server (C#)?

  Suppose I have a VarBinary[MAX] column, can I insert or update into that column using a type derived from System.IO.Stream? How? I think that I can obtain a read-only stream from such a column using a SqlDataReader, calling GetSqlBytes() on the reader, getting the SqlBytes instance, and then referencing the Stream property on that. What I want is the converse - I want a stream for update or insert. Possible? (from c#... Without writing T-SQL ?)

• asp.net web service OneWay definition not working

  When I specify <SoapDocumentMethod(OneWay:=True)> on my webservice it doesn't seem to get called. If I remove that the webservice works properly. Also, everything works fine on the development machine just not on the server. • How to Retrieve Values of A Dynamically Created Control's Child Controls on PostBack?

  Given: I have a custom server control in the markup of an aspx page. This control creates child controls in its CreateChildControls() method (e.g. it retrieves content from a database and based on that content dynamically creates either a CheckBoxList or a RadioButtonList) Now I understand that I cannot access the dynamically created controls on postback unless I add them again on Page_Init or Page_PreInit (as per here). My question is, how do I add them again explicitly in Page_Init or Page_PreInit if they are just going to be added yet again when we get around to calling Render() on each of the custom server controls? I'm very certain this is not a unique problem, so there must be a best practice way of doing it...I just don't know what it is :/

• Iterating over two arrays at a time in Javascript

  I want to iterate over two arrays at the same time, as the values for any given index i in array A corresponds to the value in array B. • Execute VBA Macro via C# Interop?

  Hi all, just wondering if anyone could suggest why I might be getting an error? I'm currently trying to execute a macro in a workbook by calling the Application.Run method that the interop exposes. It's currently throwing the following COM Exception: {System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x800A03EC): Cannot run the macro Macro1'. The macro may not be available in this workbook or all macros may be disabled. I've put the containing workbook in a trusted location, set all of the security settings to their minimum values, and trusted programmatic access to my object model. I'm entirely out of ideas and Google's failed me so far! Has anyone done this, or can you suggest anything which I could try? Many thanks!
