  Greetings, I have just starting migrating to WLS 10.x and have noticed that the thread name [%t] for WL is quite verbose and more informative than I need for my deployment needs. Ultimately, I only care about the thread ID but WL gives me this:    [ACTIVE] ExecuteThread: '0' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)' ~ Does anybody know if there is a way in log4j to write a custom filter that will allow me to override PatternLayout so I can parse the WLS Thread Name to just output the thread ID which in this case above is 0. I'd rather extend then customize as it makes upgrading libraries so much easier. Thanks :) - JsD

  I do not want to create a custom navigation bar. I am pushing a UIViewController and I want to customize how the navigation bar looks for that UIViewController In story board, we just specify the segue and a nav bar show up on the screen. We just drag and drop UIBarItem to the left and right. In XIB, the navigationBar simply doesn't show up. I can add navigation Item but the one I added is ignored. I've heard that there used to be an outlet called navigationItem but it's deprecated for reason I do not know. I can add UINavigationBar, however that would be adding my own custom bar. I want the navBar that's provided by UINavigationController.

• Customizing the Ajax Html Editor

  Hi, I am working on customizing the ajax html editor. I got succeded when i use VS 2008/10 selecting the "Web Site" as the template to create my asp.net application. But the same is not working when i create an asp.net application with Web Applications as the template. The problem i am facing here is, when we try to customize any editor, we will create a custome class "MyCustomeEditor", using which we will create the customized editor on our webforms. This is working fine when i am working with Web Sites. In web application, it is not even trying to identify the control, ie, is not a server tag. If, anyone knows any solution how to troubleshoot this problem, please shread some information on this. Thanks, Kiran

• which layout engine for finding coordinates of html elements on the web page?

  I am doing some web data classification task and was thinking if I could get the co-ordinates of html elements as they would appear on a web-browser without taking into consideration any css or javascript being referred in the web page. My language of programming is c++ and the need results for a couple million of pages, so it has to be fast. I know there is a Microsoft COM component which renders the page in a web browser control and then can be queried for position of different html tags. But this is not suitable in my case as it first renders the whole page which takes up a lot of time. So as I found out, there are open-source layout engines WebKit, Gecko that can probably be used for this. But that's a huge piece of code and I need someone to direct me to the right classes or right modules to look into or any previous/similar work someone has done previously. Also, please let me know what you guys think is a good choice if I want to customize the existing code for use with multiple threads to make it faster. Thanks

I remember those days when VCL library (Delphi) appeared and there was the same enthusiasm in VCL widgets area. Ability to create VCL controls was nearly the must when you was applying for a job as Delphi developer. This situation continued for several years till professional sophisticated 3'd party UI libraries appeared. Hardly you'll have to create your own VCL widget nowadays. Will WPF widgets enthusiasm die as VCL one?

  Hi guys, I'd like to create a website with similar concept as 'Hot or Not' where users need to sign up to the website and then upload photos. Each photo can be given a description and some additional fields. Other users may comment and rate the photo entries. On top of that, users may favourite/bookmark (and remove) any photo entries and they're accessible via their profile page That's generally how the website will be. Can't decide on a CMS to use Somehow I'm at a crossroad here. I've done some research and found that Joomla has an extension that is able to pull this website off but the thing is I'm not that comfortable with using Joomla. I work with WordPress most of the time, but I can't seem to figure out how would I build this website with WordPress. Would using BuddyPress make it work? Would hiring a plugin developer to customize some plugins work? What do you guys think?

  Hi, I am required to create a custom Process Template on using VSTS 2010 Beta 1. Given that I did not use templates in VSTS 2008 I am not even sure where to start. The TFS and VS 2010 are all installed and configured. First I tried to create a test project and selected a built-in template "MSF for Agile Software etc." I wanted to try to modify (customize) it to begin with but was not sure how to do it.   Hi Guys. I have tried to find out the working solution for implementing simple events booking system in Drupal 6 (limited places, payment, signing up/buying few places for firends). System does not have to be big but easy to customize events to reserve/book places for. I was surprised of not finding much complete solutions. Most of the time I was directed to use modules like: Date, Calendar, Singup, Singup Ubercraft integration, Ubercraft. Does anybody of you has tested it? Is it working and customizable or you would suggest other alternatives on the subject? Wiil appreciate any recomendations.

  I need to customize iReport sources.. (not creating plugin) Currently i am using iReport 3.7.2 and netbeans 6.5.1 ide. I downloaded the netbeans platform 6.0.1 and followed the procedures as shown in the jaspersoft link on how to compile iReport sources. But when i tried to compile the sources. I am getting errors like libs-xerces-jar is of incompatible specification version. And if i replace the jar new version of that jar in the NetBeans platform 6.0.1-200801291616 folder I am getting org-netbeans-awt.jar is of incompatiable specification version. and the same incompatiable specification version error is throwing for other jars in the netbeans platform folder. Can anyone help me in this issue

• Java data structure to use with Hibernate to store unknown number of parameters?

  Following problem: I want to render a news stream of short messages based on localized texts. In various places of these messages I have to insert parameters to "customize" them. I guess you know what I mean ;) My question probably falls into the "Which is the best style to do it?" category: How would you store these parameters (they may be Strings and Numbers that need to be formatted according to Locale) in the database? I'm using Hibernate to do the ORM and I can think of the following solutions: build a combined String and save it as such (ugly and hard to maintain I think) do some kind of fancy normalization and and make every parameter a single row on the database (clean I guess, but a performance nightmare) Put the params into an Array, Map or other Java data structure and save it in binary format (probably causes a lot of overhead size-wise) I tend towards option #3 but I'm afraid that it might be to costly in terms of size in the database. What do you think?

Are there any scripts or IDE wizards which can assist a programmer to create php forms quickly and also give the programmer flexibility to customize the form easily? I found some webservices which provide such services but they are mostly oriented towards non-programmers and the forms they generate are not easily customizable and do not support all kinds of functionalities.   We are developing an ASP.NET web application where some of the features that we will need to implement are quite standard: for example, a chat between users, a forum, etc. There are ASP.NET chats and forums components available. However, they all have a predetermined GUI and html markup that is almost impossible to change and very difficult to customize. And this is a very common situation for most controls like grids, etc.: you have very low control over the html markup that is being generated by the control. In our case, our web app will have its own web design created by a professional web designer in PhotoShop, and then it will but transformed into html markup that will then be transformed in aspx pages. We would ideally like to create the html markup for the forum and chat by ourselves, and use only the non-GUI part of the ASP.NET components. Is this approach feasible? Has anyone dealt with such approach in practice?

• emacs/Python: running python-shell in line buffered vs. block buffered mode

  Hi all - In a related question and answer here, someone hypothesized that python-shell within emacs(23.2) was block-buffered instead of line-buffered. The recommended fix was to add sys.stdout.flush() to the spot in my script where I want stdio to flush its contents to the python-shell. Is there someway to trick python-shell (running in emacs 23.2 on Windows, not Linux) into either a) thinking it's attached to a TTY or b) using line-buffered instead of block-buffered mode? I don't see why I'd be able to do this in IDLE but not emacs. I'd rather customize emacs than add sys.stdout.flush() throughout my scripts. Call me lazy :-). Thanks, Mike

  New to NetBeans and just noticed that in the File Project Properties Application dialog there is a text field labeled Splash Screen that allows you to specify a path to an image that you would like displayed when your program is launching. I want to customize the way my splash screen works (adding a progress bar, etc.) and would like to code it from the ground up but don't know where to start. • 2 or more Controls only 1 is considered Active

  I have 2 controls (MyCtrl) next to each other called ctrlLeft and ctrlRight. Whenever one receives interaction it is considered active (by default the left one). I override OnDraw and customize the look of the active one a bit. Currently I have a property Active and an event that I subscribe to from all MyCtrl in there I store a reference to the active one like this: if (sender is MyCtrl) { ctrlActive = (sender as MyCtrl); ctrlLeft.Active = !(ctrlRight.Active = (ctrlActive == ctrlRight)); } Either way I need to have ctrlActive as I use it for other things but what I am wondering is if this is the best way make them aware of each other? Another option I thought of was to store references to every possible MyCtrl and then loop through em all and activate / deactivate the one that match sender just in case I in the future add a ctrlMiddle. Are my thoughts wrong, is there better options to do this. For example, how does radiobuttons accomplish their similar functionality?

• How to add folder to assembly search path at runtime in .NET?

  My DLLs are loaded by a third-party application, which we can not customize. My assemblies have to be located in their own folder. I can not put them into GAC (my application has a requirement to be deployed using XCOPY). When the root DLL tries to load resource or type from another DLL (in the same folder), the loading fails (FileNotFound). Is it possible to add the folder where my DLLs are located to the assembly search path programmatically (from the root DLL)? I am not allowed to change the configuration files of the application.

  PLEASE READ THE FULL QUESTION BEFORE POST YOUR ANSWER Hello guys! I'm currently developing a "Extremelly customized Installer Application" in C# for installing a old classic ASP application. It'll be used during the 2.0 version is developed (ASP.NET MVC with C#). As its so different from the efault install packages, I've made it as normal windows application, not as setup application (a setup application don't let us customize so much as I need). And here is the problem: As its a windows application, I must "Release" it and send the compiled .EXE with the .DLLs, I must not "Publish" because if i do so, the published .EXE will "install the installer" and not my application. I need a way to verify and install the .NET Framework 3.5 like a bootstrap package prerequisite used in publishing option, but remember that I'm not publishing, I'm doing a "Release" build. • A fast way to get Reporting Services local site working?

  Hello I was here trying to figure out why my Reports manager is empty, there's no tabs at all. I installed SQL Server 2008 complete, but didn't not configure Reporting Services. When installing SQL Server 2008, this Windows 7 version didn't have yet IIS installed, I installed it later. I don't see where is this localhost/Reports physically on my Hard Drive, where is the physic folder? I don't see on IIS where is Report folder, would it exist? The site settings people talk about, I can't find it. The "Reporting Services" service is running on automatic at SQL Server Configuration Manager. How can I get Reporting Services this working without struggling? (I can't see why is necessary to customize all these user permissions)

• Template approach for a PHP application

  Hi everyone, We're in the middle of making a new e-commerce related PHP application and we have come to the point where we have started to think about how we should solve templating for our customers needs. What we would like to do is offer our customers the possibility of uploading/modifying templates to suit their company:s profile. The initial thought is that we shall not reinvent the wheel, so instead letting our customers upload their templates with FTP, so there will be basic HTML skills required. For those customers that want to modify/customize template and doesnt have the knowledge, we offer that service as well. I know that there's a number of issues to solve before this could be considered safe, like preventing XSS and writing scripts that check through each uploaded file for potential security threats and so on. Of course, there are some part that probably will be to complex for the customer to modify by themselves, so maybe this approach won't apply to all<< template files in the frontend application. But besides that, what would be a good way to handle this?

• Customizing Bugzilla 4.0.2 Bug ID numbers

  Is it possible to customize Bugzilla bug numbers and add a letter designator, to immediately know it came from Bugzilla? My company is evaluating Bugzilla and has now added many new bugs. We also use 2 other bug databases. This wasn't my decision and I believe they were trying to incorporate better reporting, etc. I read an answer here about "seeding" Bugzilla bug numbers, by setting the "AUTO_INCREMENT" field in the "bugs" table to a different value. I wish I would've thought about this sooner and found this board. Setting that value to start at 9000 or some extraordinary value would have ensured that we knew exactly which bugs came from Bugzilla. However, would it be possible to change the field in the "bugs" table to accept letters, as well? Of course that would probably just mess up the whole auto incrementing of the numbers. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  We are evaluating plugins for Authorization in Rails. The two at the top of our list are cancan and declarative_authorization. I would like to get some feedback from anyone currently using either of these plugins. The problem we are going to face with any authorization plugin is that we have a database per customer model and will need to modify the plugin to work within that model. Because of this fact I'm interested in hearing from anyone who has had to tweak the plugins at all as well. I'm just starting to look around at the code. It seems like cancan might be a little easier to customize. Any thoughts?

  Hi, I think this would be simple question and should be asked in the pas few years but unable to google around and dont know if there is a specific keyword. In c# WinForm I want to do drag and drop but I dont want the image of DragDropEffects Move, Copy or whatever. I want to display an image with half opaque. Just like Firefox when dragging an image, you would see the image folowing the mouse pointer like a ghost :) I already Implement DoDragDrop, DragEnter and DragDrop events. I just want to customize the dragging effects with overlay image.

• calling database driver in java app [basically a swing app]

  I have made a java application that allows a user to choose from certain standards and then allows him to customize those standards according to his needs. Now, the customization [via a swing application] that has been made needs to be persistent. For this we use a database [mysql/access] and hook it to the application so that with each customization made, a table [if non-existent] is created [thus making it runtime and we can not pre-determine the table names or the keys of table etc] and an appropriate entry in the table is made. I have written the driver for this connection. How do I call it in the java application and what approach should I take? I would much appreciate that if somebody can refer me some example that not only shows a sample connection being made via driver but its appropriate calls to the database as well so that i can use it as a guide.
