• Exchange Server 2010: move mailboxes from recoveded and mounted edb to user's mailbox

  One of our exchange servers crashed, and I am trying to recover the mailboxes. We had 1 exchange 2003 server named "apex" and 1 exchange 2010 server named "2008Enterprise. the exchange 2010 server named "2008Enterprise" crashed. I created a new exchange 2010 server named "Providence". I ran the command on Providence: New-MailboxDatabase -Recovery -Name JBCMail -Server Providence -EdbFilePath "c:\data\Exchange\Mailbox\Mailbox Database 0579285147\Mailbox Database 0579285147.edb" -LogFolderPath "c:\data\Exchange\Mailbox\Mailbox Database 0579285147" this command executed and finished without error I then ran the command: eseutil /p E00 this command was executed from the below directory: c:\data\Exchange\Mailbox\Mailbox Database 0579285147 I then mounted the JBCMail with the mount command note: I do not have my full typed command. Inside my Exchange Management Console (EMC) I can view the new mailbox database named JBCMail. The JBCMail database is show as mounted on the exchange server named Providence. I can see the crashed Exchange server named 2008Exchange. In the EMC the crashed exchange server states the Copy Status under ServerConfiguration-Mailbox is ServiceDown. From here I need to recover three mailboxes The mail boxes are on the apex server. How do I move the mailboxs from apex to Providence? How do I restore the mailboxes from JBCmail mounted database to the user's mailbox? I do not fully understand how to use the Restore-Mailbox command because when I use this command it tries to restore the mailbox to the dead apex server. • IE6 blocking all intranet cookies.. please help

  So today, IE6 just suddenly started blocking cookies in my local intranet. It accepts cookies from the internet zone just fine. I tried overriding all the cookies policies with no help (adding my site, etc). When looking why the cookies are blocked, I get messages saying that "IE couldn't find privacy policy for http://mysite...". This is killing me.. been reading a couple knowledge base articles about deleting registry keys, and nothing has worked. Any help would be appreciated. Probably related, I was using the IE developer toolbar yesterday to test the behavior of browsers with cookies disabled. Now the option to disable cookies just has a "-" next to it. I removed the toolbar to see if that helped.. nothing..

• ObjectContext.SaveChanges() fails with SQL CE

  I am creating a model-first Entity Framework 4 app that uses SQL CE as its data store. All is well until I call ObjectContext.SaveChanges() to save changes to the entities in the model. At that point, SaveChanges() throws a System.Data.UpdateException, with an inner exception message that reads as follows: Server-generated keys and server-generated values are not supported by SQL Server Compact. • IPSec policies on Mac OSX

  Is there a way to configure IPSec policies on a Mac OSX, in a similar way to what you can do in Windows, with "Connection Security Rules"? I need to implement a service that will use an IPSec tunnel, and I might have to provide it to Macs as well. As I don't have access to a Mac, I've done some reading, and it seems that there is something called "racoon" that handles IPSec. Can anyone confirm this? Further, we will need to use certificates for authenticating the IPsec tunnel as well (as opposed to pre-shared keys). Can anyone confirm that this is also possible from a Mac OSX? Thank you!

• How can I tell if a replacement display is compatible with my laptop?

  I have an Acer Aspire 4810TZ from 2010 which I truly love - it's a 3 year old notebook that still carries on for about 5 to 6h straight off the battery. I've also invested in it with an SSD and extra RAM and it's fine for my use right now. I'd really rather not just dump it. Now... its screen is dead and I'm looking for replacement parts, but it turns out to be a kind of expensive display - AUO B140XW02 14" LED. US$ 125 was the cheapest I found here (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). The official dealer sells them for US$ 175. I'm aware of How do I know if a LCD is compatible with my Laptop? and Can I replace a laptop screen with one of a different resolution? but the answers don't really help me in this case. Also Replacing an LCD screen in a laptop gives me a hint but I'm completely dumb at hardware so this is why i'm asking: Is it possible to buy an LCD or a lower grade LED screen with the same connectors? What characteristics should I look for to find out if a certain display is compatible?

• Database which only holds indexes and last X records in memory?

  I'm looking for a data store that is very memory efficient while still allowing many object changes per second and disregarding ACID compliance for the last X records. I need this database for a server with not much memory and I can make a key-value store, document, or SQL database work. The idea is that indexes/keys are the only thing I need in memory and all the actual values/objects/rows can be saved on disk do to the low read rate (I just want index/key lookup to be fast). I also don't want records constantly being flushed to disk, so I would like the last X number of records to be held in memory so that 100 or so of them can all be written at once. I don't care if I lose the last 10 seconds worth of objects/values. I do care if the database as a whole is in danger of becoming corrupt. Is there a data-store like this?

• Configuring IIS 7.5 to be FIPS 140.2 compliant

  I need to configure IIS 7.5 (Server 2008 R2) to be FIPS 140.2 compliant. Specifically, this involves disabling all SSL protocols other than TLS 1.0. I have set the following registry keys: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL\Protocols\SSL 2.0\Server HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL\Protocols\SSL 3.0\Server HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL\Protocols\PCT 1.0\Server to Enabled(DWORD) = 0 as per this KB, but SSL Labs' checker says "SSL 2.0+ Upgrade Support" is enabled. (Everything other than that and TLS 1.0 is not available, so we're getting somewhere). It also says "FIPS ready - no" - presumably because SSL 2.0+ Upgrade Support is still enabled. serversniff.net says SSL 2.0 is turned off, and doesn't say anything about SSL 2.0+ Upgrade Support. Could this be an anomaly with SSL Labs' checker?

• Which Linux distribution for vehicle LCD instrument panel

  I will be designing an instrument panel for a vehicle to display the common gauges that you would find in a car - (speedometer, rpm, fuel level, oil pressure, etc.). We have selected a 7" LCD and are in the process of narrowing down the hardware (This will use an ARM processor). The idea is to read these values off of the CAN Bus and update the UI with those values. This needs to have a fairly quick boot time, 5-10 seconds would be acceptable from the time the ignigtion is turned on to the time the UI is running. I have been doing a lot of research on which linux distribution to use, but I wanted to ask the question here to get the community's suggestions. I have been a .NET programmer for years, so linux is a new world to me. Here is what I have found so far... Tizen is geared for In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) (plus some others). However, this project is not an IVI, and I do not need the phone dialer, navigation, etc. Meego is dead, and Tizen seems to be the replacement Angstrom, Debian... would either of these be useful? I am not tied to a particular programming language or IDE. Any help and direction is appreciated!

Actually it's a git repositiory for bower registy but it doesn't matter.   I use a Mac with French keyboard, and I have installed a Windows 7 as virtual machine. Now I would like to type Chinese in this Windows 7. The normal input method for Chinese within Windows 7 allows me to input Chinese, but does not work perfectly, because it does not recognize I am using a French keyboard - it presumes I am using a English keybord... So for some keys, what I type on the keybord is not what the input method gives on the screen... Could anyone help on this?

• Query doesn't use a covering-index when applicable

  I've downloaded the employees database and executed some queries for benchmarking purposes. Then I noticed that one query didn't use a covering index, although there was a corresponding index that I created earlier. Only when I added a FORCE INDEX clause to the query, it used a covering index. I've uploaded two files, one is the executed SQL queries and the other is the results. • Laptop screen brightness stuck

  I can no longer adjust the brightness of my laptop screen, it's stuck at the lowest. In Linux, the brightness adjustment keys (Fn + F4/F5) still work, since a brightness popup shows and the meter bar changes, but it does this in a strange way. Starting at 100%, each successive press of the "lower brightness" button moves the bar to: 67% 50% 0% 26% 12% Or another random pattern like that. The problem is not Linux however, since I can't change the brightness from Windows (7) either. Where do I even begin to look? Since the problem does not seem be OS-specific, I've searched in the BIOS, but it has no option like that. How did this happen? I think it's been this way since when I lowered the brightness to 0%, then pressed the "lower brightness" key again. Not sure about that though.

• Windows Explorer view style via GPO or registry edit

  I'm having some difficulty adjusting the default view style in windows explorer (e.g. list, detail, large icon, small icon). There does not seem to be any pre-baked GPOs for this and next to no documentation on the subject outside of using GUI configuration tools built into windows explorer. I've already taken a look at HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams\Settings but the adjustments I've made there don't seem to make any change on their own.

  Is it really possible to invoke a context menu using a keyboard shortcut instead of clicking the right/alt mouse button in OS X? In particular, I would like a menu-key-like feature in OS X. I am wondering whether there is an additional third party software that provides such feature.   Aside from personal passwords, I'm always juggling a number of project-specific passwords, including those for network, web and database authentication. Some authentication can be managed with ssh keys and the like, but everywhere I've worked I also faced the need for the management of passwords that need to be available to a number of different people. So what do you use, either for personal or team-based password management? Personally I'd like to hear about cross-platform tools, but I'm sure other people would be satisfied with Windows-only solutions. I know the stackoverflow podcast tackled this issue in #7 and #9, but I'm hoping we can come up with the definitive answer here. Update: Even though this question was asked before its sibling site existed, you should probably add your two cents to the more active question over at superuser, which is a more appropriate venue for this.

• Simple, user friendly and strong file encryption in Windows

  I want a colleague of mine to send me a sensitive MS-Word document via e-mail. Since Word's encryption is questionable, I would like to encrypt the file using a passphrase. Do you know of any user-friendly encryption tool that a novice user can easily use? I wouldn't like to prompt for keys or anything like this - just provide simple interface for single file encryption. EDIT: I have solved this using Putty Secure Copy, through a Linux box I have somewhere. The user downloaded scp to the same directory where the file was, and I have send him the exact scp command by mail. Nice!   I have installed Microsoft Office on my new Windows 7 64-bit system. Recently, it encounter some error and i tried to re-install it. It wa\sn't successful. So, I have to use Microsoft Install Clean Up to uninstall Microsoft Office. When I tried to install it back, I received this message: Microsoft Office 2007 encountered an error during setup. Error 1402. Setup cannot open the registry key. {a bunch of long keys}. Verify that you have sufficient permissions to access the registry or contact Microsoft Product Support Service for assistance. For information about how to contact PSS, see {a *chm file}. After that, I tried to run the setup as admin but I ended up woth the same error. So, what should I do to solve this problem?

I have already tried to re-configure the hot keys in the virtual box preferences but i have not been able to accomplish the results i am looking for. • gitosis always asks for git password

  I've just followed the simple gitosis install instructions on an Ubuntu server, such as these http://blog.agdunn.net/?p=277 On the server I log in as "mark", and into /home/mark/.ssh/ I copied my keyfiles id_rsa and id_rsa.pub from my laptop. I used that id_rsa.pub when initialising the gitosis stuff, and can happily connect locally when logged in as 'mark'. From my laptop though, where I have the same keys, I can't connect. I just get an error: git clone git@support:gitosis-admin.git Initialized empty Git repository in u:/gitosis-admin/.git fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly The server is Ubuntu 9.04, the client is a Win7 laptop with Cygwin and WinSysGit.

  I have a MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard, and I am using it as a portable but also desktop computer. In order to acheive this, I bought a VGA adapter and I am using it with an external mouse, keyboard, and monitor. The problem is, the external keyboard layout is different from the one on the macbook. It is set to US qwerty (its a logitech G15), and because of that, most keys behave differently than they should. Question is, how can I set up different layouts at same time for different devices? I want US for external keyboard and PT for the default one.

• Export SSL Cert from IIS and import into GlassFish keystore

  What I need: I have an existing SSL certificate installed on IIS 6. On the same machine, I have GlassFish installed and would like to share the same certificate since they both share the same hostname, and they use different ports: IIS uses 443 and GlassFish uses 8181. Why I need it: Reuse existing SSL certs from IIS to GlassFish. I imagine that this is possible. I am able to install an SSL cert into GlassFish's keystore, and then import the same exact cert into IIS. I just want to go the other way - imagine having an SSL cert on IIS being used for months, and now I want to enable SSL on GlassFish. What I have done: Created a keystore with an alias: server.hostname.com Imported intermediate CA certs associated with the existing SSL Cert Imported the existing SSL cert with the same alias: server.hostname.com, but the keytool won’t allow this, as it is not associated: keytool error: java.lang.Exception: Public keys in reply and keystore don't match Why? Using a different alias causes the cert to not be trusted in the CA chain.

• Audit Windows Server/Desktop Product Key usage

  The company I work for has a fairly big domain of Windows Desktops and Servers. We also have standalone servers that are remote to our site but we have direct access to. We need to audit our license usage across all Windows machines (including some VMs). I have tried a few products downloaded, but the key returned is not the one used during installation. I have one product that gives the last 5 characters correctly but needs to be installed so its not really suitable. I also have tried some PowerShell scripts one of which is here Ideally I am looking for one that can be used over a network and if possible can audit Office keys too. I've just tried Jelly Bean and some other product key tools that all return BBBBB-BBBBB-BBBBB-BBBB-BBBBB as the product key.

  Trying to find out how to "modify" KMS to also accept the Office 2010 KMS key. Can anyone point me to some document about this? Basically - do I have to install an update to KMS? I wand my KMS server to authenticate both, Windows (It currently has a DataCenter R2 KMS key installed) as well as Office 2010. Keys are available ;) I can not imagine I just ptu it in - would this not overwrite the DataCenter key? I tried the MSDN website, but there is no clear document visible for my question.

• Citrix ICA Client on Mac shift key doesn't work as expected.

  When I'm connected to a Windows XP computer from my Mac OS X 10.6 using the Citrix ICA Client, it seems that the shift key only works for the first letter typed after pressing shift. In order to type multiple uppercase letters, like ICA, I must either press caps lock, or press and release shift before each character. I've tried switching between standard and enhanced keyboard, as well as the 'Send Special Keys Unchanged' option, but none of these seem to affect the issue. The problem doesn't occur when I switch from the Citrix window to a regular Mac window.
