• Catching MediaPlayer Exceptions from WPF MediaElement Control

- by ScottCate
I'm playing video in a MediaElement in WPF. It's working 1000's of times, over and over again. Once in a blue moon (like once a week), I get a windows exception (you know the dialog Dr. Watson Crash??) that happens. The MediaElment doesn't expose an error, it just crashes and sits there with an ugly Crash report on the screen. If you "view this report" you can see it is in fact MediaPlayer that has crashed. I know I can disable the crash reports from popping up - but I'm more interested in finding out what's going wrong. I'm not sure how to capture the results of the Dr. Watson capture, but I have the dialog open now if someone has advice on a better way to capture. Here is the opening line of data, that points to my application, then to wmvdecod.dll AppName: ScottApp.exe AppVer: 2.2009.2291.805 AppStamp:4a36c812 ModName: wmvdecod.dll ModVer: 11.0.5721.5145 ModStamp:453711a3 fDebug: 0 Offset: 000cbc88 And from the Win Event Log. • How to handle custom Java exception in Flex app.

- by mico
Hello, we are using BlazeDS as a proxy between Flex and Java. The approach is the same as in (http://www.flexpasta.com/index.php/2008/05/16/exception-handling-with-blazeds-and-flex/) Java exception declaration: public class FlexException extends RuntimeException { private String name = 'John'; public FlexException(String message) { super(message); } public String getName() { return name; } } Then, we are throwing it: public void testMethod(String str) throws Exception { throw new FlexException("Custom exception"); } Flex part: private function faultHandler(event:FaultEvent):void { var errorMessage:ErrorMessage = event.message as ErrorMessage; trace("error++"); } and remote object is instantiated here: <mx:RemoteObject id="mySample" destination="mySample" channelSet="{cs1}" fault="faultHandler(event)" /> But in event.fault I get "Server.Processing" and event.faultString equals "There was an unhandled failure on the server. Custom exception" How can I receive the data is specified in exception props ? BlazeDS log is similar to the log that was mentioned in the comment [BlazeDS] 11:28:13.906 [DEBUG] Serializing AMF/HTTP response Version: 3 (Message #0 targetURI=/2/onStatus, responseUR|-) (Typed Object #0 ‘flex.messaging.messages.ErrorMessage’) headers = (Object #1) rootCause = null body = null correlationId = “2F1126D7-5658-BE40-E27C-7B43F3C5DCDD” faultDetail = null faultString = “Login required before authorization can proceed.” clientId = “C4F0E77C-3208-ECDD-1497-B8D070884830? timeToLive = 0.0 destination = “books” timestamp = 1.204658893906E12 extendedData = null faultCode = “Client.Authentication” messageId = “C4F0E77C-321E-6FCE-E17D-D9F1C16600A8? So the quesion is why rootClause is null? How can I get that Exception object not just a string 'Custom exception'?

• detachEvent not working with named inline functions

- by Polshgiant
I ran into a problem in IE8 today (Note that I only need to support IE) that I can't seem to explain: detachEvent wouldn't work when using a named anonymous function handler. document.getElementById('iframeid').attachEvent("onreadystatechange", function onIframeReadyStateChange() { if (event.srcElement.readyState != "complete") { return; } event.srcElement.detachEvent("onreadystatechange", onIframeReadyStateChange); // code here was running every time my iframe's readyState // changed to "complete" instead of only the first time }); I eventually figured out that changing onIframeReadyStateChange to use arguments.callee (which I normally avoid) instead solved the issue: document.getElementById('iframeid').attachEvent("onreadystatechange", function () { if (event.srcElement.readyState != "complete") { return; } event.srcElement.detachEvent("onreadystatechange", arguments.callee); // code here now runs only once no matter how many times the // iframe's readyState changes to "complete" }); What gives?! Shouldn't the first snippet work fine?

• Trace() method doesnt work in FlashDevelop

• javascript compare two DOM trees

- by Paul
I want to compare the change of a DOM node after a user event is fired on it; but I don't know on which element a user would fire, so my idea is to (1) save the DOM tree before an event and (2) compare the saved tree with the updated DOM tree when an event is fired. My question are (1) is there any better way? and (2) if there is no other way, what would be the fast algorithm to compare two DOM trees?

• Sending wordpress title-value across PHP-pages

- by VoodooBurger
I recently made this wordpress blog, where you can sign up a team for an event, when clicking a link under the event post. This link takes you to a sign-up form on another php-page. The link is added in the loop of the events-template like this: <?php query_posts('cat=8');?> <?php if (have_posts()) : while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?> <div class="post" id="post-<?php the_ID(); ?>">
<a href="<?php the_permalink() ?>"><?php the_title(); ?>

<?php wp_list_pages("title_li=&depth=1&include=63"); ?>
<?php include (TEMPLATEPATH . '/inc/meta.php' ); ?>... So every upcoming event will have the same sign-up button. All I need now is to somehow send the specific event-post-title along to the sign-page, so that the following form-submit action will contain that title aswell. But since I'm not very good at php it seems like a mystery, altho I bet it's very simple! I'm guessing it's something like: $event=$_POST['single_post_title()'] But how to get the value to the next php-page I have no idea... please help, anyone :) An eksample can be seen throught this link: http://gadebold.dk/events/ The link sais: 'Tilmeld Hold'

• How can I pass extra parameters to the routeMatch object?

- by Marcos Garcia
I'm trying to unit test a controller, but can't figure out how to pass some extra parameters to the routeMatch object. I followed the posts from tomoram at http://devblog.x2k.co.uk/unit-testing-a-zend-framework-2-controller/ and http://devblog.x2k.co.uk/getting-the-servicemanager-into-the-test-environment-and-dependency-injection/, but when I try to dispatch a request to /album/edit/1, for instance, it throws the following exception: Zend\Mvc\Exception\DomainException: Url plugin requires that controller event compose a router; none found Here is my PHPUnit Bootstrap: class Bootstrap { static $serviceManager; static $di; static public function go() { include 'init_autoloader.php'; $config = include 'config/application.config.php'; // append some testing configuration $config['module_listener_options']['config_static_paths'] = array(getcwd() . '/config/test.config.php'); // append some module-specific testing configuration if (file_exists(__DIR__ . '/config/test.config.php')) { $moduleConfig = include __DIR__ . '/config/test.config.php'; array_unshift($config['module_listener_options']['config_static_paths'], $moduleConfig); } $serviceManager = Application::init($config)->getServiceManager(); self::$serviceManager = $serviceManager; // Setup Di $di = new Di(); $di->instanceManager()->addTypePreference('Zend\ServiceManager\ServiceLocatorInterface', 'Zend\ServiceManager\ServiceManager'); $di->instanceManager()->addTypePreference('Zend\EventManager\EventManagerInterface', 'Zend\EventManager\EventManager'); $di->instanceManager()->addTypePreference('Zend\EventManager\SharedEventManagerInterface', 'Zend\EventManager\SharedEventManager'); self::$di = $di; } static public function getServiceManager() { return self::$serviceManager; } static public function getDi() { return self::$di; } } Bootstrap::go(); Basically, we are creating a Zend\Mvc\Application environment. My PHPUnit_Framework_TestCase is enclosed in a custom class, which goes like this: abstract class ControllerTestCase extends TestCase { /** * The ActionController we are testing * * @var Zend\Mvc\Controller\AbstractActionController */ protected $controller; /** * A request object * * @var Zend\Http\Request */ protected $request; /** * A response object * * @var Zend\Http\Response */ protected $response; /** * The matched route for the controller * * @var Zend\Mvc\Router\RouteMatch */ protected $routeMatch; /** * An MVC event to be assigned to the controller * * @var Zend\Mvc\MvcEvent */ protected $event; /** * The Controller fully qualified domain name, so each ControllerTestCase can create an instance * of the tested controller * * @var string */ protected $controllerFQDN; /** * The route to the controller, as defined in the configuration files * * @var string */ protected $controllerRoute; public function setup() { parent::setup(); $di = \Bootstrap::getDi(); // Create a Controller and set some properties $this->controller = $di->newInstance($this->controllerFQDN); $this->request = new Request(); $this->routeMatch = new RouteMatch(array('controller' => $this->controllerRoute)); $this->event = new MvcEvent(); $this->event->setRouteMatch($this->routeMatch); $this->controller->setEvent($this->event); $this->controller->setServiceLocator(\Bootstrap::getServiceManager()); } public function tearDown() { parent::tearDown(); unset($this->controller); unset($this->request); unset($this->routeMatch); unset($this->event); } } And we create a Controller instance and a Request with a RouteMatch. The code for the test: public function testEditActionWithGetRequest() { // Dispatch the edit action $this->routeMatch->setParam('action', 'edit'); $this->routeMatch->setParam('id', $album->id); $result = $this->controller->dispatch($this->request, $this->response); // rest of the code isn't executed } I'm not sure what I'm missing here. Can it be any configuration for the testing bootstrap? Or should I pass the parameters in some other way? Or am I forgetting to instantiate something?

• What is the equivalent of .NET events in Ruby?

- by Gishu
The problem is very simple. An object needs to notify some events that might be of interest to observers. When I sat to validate a design that I cooked up now in Ruby just to validate it.. I find myself stumped as to how to implement the object events. In .Net this would be a one-liner.. .Net also does handler method signature verification,etc. e.g. // Object with events public delegate void HandlerSignature(int a); public event HandlerSignature MyEvent; public event HandlerSignature AnotherCriticalEvent; // Client MyObject.MyEvent += new HandlerSignature(MyHandlerMethod); // MyHandlerMethod has same signature as delegate Is there an EventDispatcher module or something that I am missing that I can strap on to a Ruby class ? Hoping for an answer that plays along with Ruby's principle of least surprise. An event would be the name of the event plus a queue of [observer, methodName] objects that need to be invoked when the event takes place.

• Why does Font.registerFont throw an error the second time a swf is loaded?

- by Al Brown
I've found an issue (in flash cs5) when using TLFTextfields and fonts shared at runtime, and I wondered if anyone has a solution. Here's the scenario. Fonts.swf: library for fonts (runtime shared DF4) Popup.swf: popup with a TLFTextfield (with text in it) using a font from Fonts.swf Main.swf : the main swf with a button that loads and unloads Popup.swf (using Loader or SafeLoader give the same results) Nice and simple, Run main.swf, click button and the popup appears with the text. Click the button again to remove the popup. All well and good now click the button again and I get the following error. ArgumentError: Error #1508: The value specified for argument font is invalid. at flash.text::Font$/registerFont() at Popup_fla::MainTimeline()[Popup_fla.MainTimeline::MainTimeline:12] I'm presuming it's happening because the font is already registered (checked when clicking before the load). Does anyone know how to get past this? If you are wondering here's my Main.as package { import fl.controls.Button; import flash.display.Loader; import flash.display.Sprite; import flash.events.Event; import flash.events.IOErrorEvent; import flash.events.MouseEvent; import flash.events.UncaughtErrorEvent; import flash.net.URLRequest; import flash.text.Font; public class Main extends Sprite { public var testPopupBtn:Button; protected var loader:Loader; public function Main() { trace("Main.Main()"); testPopupBtn.label = "open"; testPopupBtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, testClickHandler); } protected function testClickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void { trace("Main.testClickHandler(event)"); if(loader) { testPopupBtn.label = "open"; this.removeChild(loader); //loader.unloadAndStop(); loader = null; }else{ testPopupBtn.label = "close"; trace("Registered Fonts -->"); var fonts:Array = Font.enumerateFonts(false); for each (var font:Font in fonts) { trace("\t",font.fontName, font.fontStyle, font.fontType); } trace("<--"); loader = new Loader(); loader.uncaughtErrorEvents.addEventListener(UncaughtErrorEvent.UNCAUGHT_ERROR, uncaughtErrorHandler); this.addChild(loader); try{ loader.load(new URLRequest("Popup.swf")); }catch(e:*){ trace(e); } } } private function uncaughtErrorHandler(event:UncaughtErrorEvent):void { trace("Main.uncaughtErrorHandler(event)", event); } } }

• IE7 resize problems

- by moshe_ravid
i have a page that contains content which need to be dynamically changed according to the current page size. in order to do that, during the onload event, i attach some JS function to the "onresize" window event. it looks like that: window.onresize = function() { //do something here... }; This is working fine in any browse, except IE7! These are the problems i'm having: It seems that in IE7, when i resize the window vertically only (i.e. clicking with the mouse on the bottom border, and drag it down), it does not fire the "onresize" event. sometimes, i get an infinite loop of "onresize" event, causing the browser to hang forever. I will appreciate any help with any of these issues. thanks, Moe

• How can you determine when the user scrolls to the bottom of a DataGridView?

- by Craig
I am writing a C# Windows Forms Application in Visual Studio 2008. I have a DataGridView with a lot of data in it. I would like to initially only populate 10,000 rows and add more only when the user scrolls to the bottom. I am handling the DataGridView's Scroll event, but it never seems to raise with the ScrollEventArgs.Type property set to Last, which is the condition I think I need to catch to add more rows. I have read about people having bad experiences with the DataGridView.Scroll event (e.g. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/785200/datagridview-scroll-event-and-scrolleventtype-endscroll), but the solution provided (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/472389/how-can-i-receive-the-scroll-box-type-scroll-events-from-a-datagridview/767603#767603) only adds the ScrollEventArgs.Type property to come back as EndScroll, not Last like I need. Does anybody know how to get the event to raise properly, or another way to accomplish this task?

• How to assign .net membership roles to individual database records

- by mdresser
I'm developing a system where we want to restrict the availability of information displayed to users based on their roles. e.g. I have a tabled called EventType (ID, EventTypeDescription) which contains the following records: 1, 'Basic Event' 2, 'Intermediate Event' 3, 'Admin Event' What I need to achieve is to filter the records returned based on the username (and hence role) of the logged-in user. e.g if an advanced user is logged in they will see all the event types, if the standard user is logged in they will only see the basic event type etc. Ideally id like to do this in a way which can be easily extended to other tables as necessary. So I'd like to avoid simply adding a 'Roles' field to each table where the data is user context sensitive. One idea I'm thinking of is to create some kind of permissions table like: PermissionsTable ( ID, Aspnet_RoleId, TableName, PrimaryKeyValue ) this has the drawback of using this is obviously having to use the table name to switch which table to join onto. Edit: In the absence of any better suggestions, I'm going to go with the last idea I mentioned, but instead of having a TableName field, I'm going to normalise the TableName out to it's own table as follows: TableNames ( ID, TableName ) UserPermissionsTable ( ID, Aspnet_UserId, TableID, PrimaryKeyValue )

• YUI Calendar: Skinning and CSS

- by dound
I'm using YUI 2's calendar in YUI 3. I want to make a few minor changes to the default sam skin. What is the best way to do that? Also, how does it load Sam's skin CSS? I didn't manually include it (though it seems like I should so the user can download it in the one request I make to the combo loader for css?). This is how I'm loading the CSS and JS now:
...
...
... // YUI().use('yui2-calendar', function(Y) { var YAHOO = Y.YUI2; var cal = new YAHOO.widget.Calendar("cal",{navigator:true,mindate:'1/1/2000'); cal.render(); // ... The main problem I'm having is that it seems to dynamically load the Sam's skin, so any CSS I specify in my stylesheet or in the
section seem to be overridden. I can modify the style by getting the nodes and using YUI's Node.setStyle() method, but this doesn't seem like the best way to do things. Note: The script does include more than I need for just YUI 2's calendar, but that's because I use YUI 3 for other things irrelevant to this question.

• jQuery preventDefault stops rest of code working

- by Tim
I have this code where I am using jQuery to navigate to the next page, because I want some effects to take place before that happens. The problem is, that everything after the prevent.Default(); doesn't seem to work! $("a").click(function(event){ event.preventDefault(); $(".content-center").animate({height: "0px"}, 500); navigate($(this).attr('href')); }); I need things to happen in that order, so that the animation happens and once it's complete - load the next page... Does anyone have any ideas? Many thanks in advance? • AS3: Weak Listener References Not Appropriate During Initialization?

- by TheDarkIn1978
as i currently understand, if an event listener is added to an object with useWeakReference set to true, then it is eligible for garbage collection and will be removed if and when the garbage collection does a sweep. public function myCustomSpriteClass() //constructor { this.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, mouseDownListener, false, 0, true); this.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, mouseUpListener, false, 0, true); } in this case, is it not appropriate to initialize an object with weak references event listeners, incase the garbage collector does activate a sweep removing the objects event listeners since they were added during initialization of the object? in this case, would it only be appropriate to create a type of deallocate() method which removes the event listeners before the object is nullified?

• How do I create a check constraint?

- by Zack Peterson
Please imagine this small database... Diagram Tables Volunteer Event Shift EventVolunteer ========= ===== ===== ============== Id Id Id EventId Name Name EventId VolunteerId Email Location VolunteerId Phone Day Description Comment Description Start End Associations Volunteers may sign up for multiple events. Events may be staffed by multiple volunteers. An event may have multiple shifts. A shift belongs to only a single event. A shift may be staffed by only a single volunteer. A volunteer may staff multiple shifts. Check Constraints Can I create a check constraint to enforce that no shift is staffed by a volunteer that's not signed up for that shift's event? Can I create a check constraint to enforce that two overlapping shifts are never staffed by the same volunteer?

• How to disable the drop down function of combo box on certain conditions?

- by Angeline Aarthi
Hi, I have a combo box in my application. I also have a variable called "Status". I want the combo box to be enabled only when the value of the Status variable is 5 or 6. Otherwise, I should not be able to change the value in the combo box. It should have the previous value only.. I had written a click event to disable the combo box. But even though the combo box is disabled, I get the drop down list of the combo box, and If I select some othe value in the drop down,it changes..Only after that it gets disabled.. How to avoid this? I want the drop down function itself to be disabled. This is the code I have written. Someone guide me. <mx:FormItem label="Review Status:" width="100%" horizontalAlign="right"> <mx:HBox> <mx:Label width="30"/> <mx:ComboBox id="reviewStatus" dataProvider="{Status}" width="150" click="onStatusChange(event)"/> </mx:HBox> Action Script part: private function onStatusChange(event:Event):void { var i:int; for(i=0;i<defectDetails.length;i++) { var defStatusId:String=defectDetails.getItemAt(i).DefectStatusId; if(defStatusId=="5"){ reviewStatus.enabled=true; } else if(defStatusId=="6"){ reviewStatus.enabled=true; } else{ reviewStatus.enabled=false; //reviewStatus.selectedItem.label="Review"; reviewStatus.toolTip="Status can be changed only if Defect Status is Verified or Deferred."; //Alert.show("Status can be changed only if defect status is verified or deferred"); } } } If I use Change event also, for the first time the value is changed. Only after that,the combo box is disabled. How to retain the same value and disable the combo box when the status is not 5 or 6?

• When onblur occurs, how can I find out which element focus went *to*?

- by Michiel Borkent
Suppose I attach an onblur function to an html input box like this: Is there a way to get the ID of the element which caused the onblur event to fire (the element which was clicked) inside the function? How? For example, suppose I have a span like this: Hello World If I click the span right after the input element has focus, the input element will lose its focus. How does the function know that it was mySpan that was clicked? PS: If the onclick event of the span would occur before the onblur event of the input element my problem would be solved, because I could set some status value indicating a specific element had been clicked. PPS: The background of this problem is that I want to trigger an Ajax.AutoCompleter control externally (from a clickable element) to show its suggestions, without the suggestions disappearing immediately because of the onblur event on the input element. So I want to check in the OnBlur function if one specific element has been clicked, and if so, ignore the blur event.
