• Why circles are not created if small?

  I have changed the scale to my own and now I cant create any object, including circle, if it is of the size which is normal for my scale. I am to create big object first and then modify it to smaller size. Looks like minimal size protection is set somewhere. Where? UPDATE While creating a circle, if I drag for 0.04m circle disappears after drag end. If I drag for 0.08m circle also disappears. If I drag for more than 0.1m, circle persists after drag end. How to set so that it persist after 0.01m too?

• Ubuntu does not boot after bad shutdown

  I recently swapped from Windows7 to Ubuntu 11.10 due to problems with my Windows. Ubuntu worked great for a few days with no problem, This morning I ran out of battery and the laptop shut down. I rebooted it and now it just displays an error message ( black screen with coding commands) it doesn't even go onto the purple screen anymore. Any help on this would be much appreciated.. Ps: would installing Ubuntu again make any difference?

• Website hacked, cpanel password not encrypted?

  Yesterday I found out that all the websites that are hosted on my webhosting site were hacked. I tried to change my password, and unbelievably, I COULD SEE my password there. This means my password is able to be decrypted. I asked customer support, and they say, its normal, CPanel saves the password like that. Is it true? I mean, cpanel password able to be decrypted? They blame me because my wordpress version is out of date. But 2 of my website are on different platforms. One made by CI and one by Wordpress, and all are hacked. Is this hosting reliable?

• Wifi not working after upgrading from 12.04 to 13.10

  I went through loads of posts looking for an answer to my WiFi problems but can't seem to fix it. I had Ubuntu 12.04 installed and WiFi worked fine with no issues whatsoever but then I upgraded to 13.10 it has stopped working. It shows the available networks but I can't connect to any of them it just does that animation thing then stops working. • Why would anacron not be running?

  I have a Ubuntu system that has anacron installed. However I'm pretty sure it's not running. It's not running the commands in /etc/cron.daily to rotate the syslog files (I'm using sysklog, which has its own rotating log method, not using logrotate). The last time the logs were rotated were in October 2009. /var/spool/anacron/cron.daily exists and the contents are 20091015. AFAIR we had a power outage then, and everything rebooted. How can I debug anacron? How can I see why it's not running? My first instinct is to look for /var/log/anacron, but that's not there. How can I fix it to make it run again?

• web page does not display properly

  Hi, I have problem with one my conputer, it does not display any website properly. The background clouds on some websites do not show up, the layout of some websites are not properly displayed. And it only happen to only one computer. OS: Windows XP IE: 7 (not working on either IE7 or IE 8) I have tried to add my website as trusted site still that site is not working properly. I also tried Internet Options Advanced ... Check Show images, smart image dithering, enable visual styles in button and controls on webwage. Is there anything else I could do to fix the problem? • Google Site Search (commercial) not indexing files in sitemap

  I have a client for whom we have purchased Google Site Search. It works well for HTML pages served by the CMS, but files aren't being reliably indexed. I wrote a script to generate an XML feed (sitemap) of all the files in the CMS which I've plugged in to Google Webmaster Tools for the site. It says that for that sitemap 923 URLs have been submitted, but only 26 have been indexed. The client relies heavily on searching within files, which is why we decided to use Google search, so this is a bit of a problem. Many of the files aren't linked to from any page on the site, as they are old and therefore don't merit having a page of their own. But they still need to be accessible through search for archiving purposes. The file archive xml can be found at www.sniffer.org.uk/file-archive and the standard xml sitemap (of pages) can be found at www.sniffer.org.uk/sitemap.xml. Any thought would be much appreciated!

  My wifi worked perfect until I updated to the latest version of Ubuntu. Now I don't find any wireless connections at all. I have tried lots of guides on the internet but I can't get it to work. I did however start to work once after writing something I don't remember in Terminal, but after rebooting it stopped working again. • Monitor not recognised after apt-get upgrade on 11.10 - maximum 1024x768 resolution

  I did an apt-get upgrade through update manager on 11.10. After restarting my VGA monitor is no longer recognised and I can only get a maximum of 1024x768 on a 1440x900 monitor. • Can a website become popular in a "category" (ie, not just a single page)

  I have a few keywords where my website is high ranking(2nd and 3rd result). For instance, I have 3 blog posts covering a certain kind of modem. Is it common for search engines to consider a website popular in a "category"? For instance, if I was the first result for "foobar" with one page, and then added another separate page which mentioned "foobar"(and maybe a link from the original page), would a search engine prioritize this separate page when compared to a completely separate website with a page with the same content?

• Steam not displaying text on wine 1.5 running on Ubuntu 12.04

  Hello fellow dwellers of askubuntu, as the title says I'm having difficulties with getting Steam to run properly. I think I have the solution but I am pretty incompetent with Ubuntu (just started using it the other day) so a step by step process would be unbelievably appreciated! Any useful input is what I'm hoping for but for the brave soul who feels like typing a bit more, perhaps a step-by-step list of instructions starting from downloading Steam off the official website, would be my saving grace. If there is any more info you guys need let me know and I'll of course be happy to oblige!

  I Have tried two things in three places to see if it works please do help me out. Two methords: 1) replacing @ with %40 2) replacing @ with \@ Three places: 1) export with the .bashrc file 2) editing /etc/apt/apt.conf and setting acquires there 3) using gconf editor and setting the values in /system/http_proxy and setting authentication name and password and checking the use_authentication checkbox. still there is no success and i still get 407 error when trying wget or apt-get update. please do help me, been stuck with this for three hours now. also, i read somewhere that creating a file in /etc/apt/apt.conf.d and then creating a 01proxy file with acquire might work. I tried that also, but it doesnt work. Please help.

• GRUB not showing /dev/sda2 is Windows 7 Loader

  A few days ago I accidentally deleted Ubuntu partition using GParted. I thought Windows 7 would start normally, but I got a "grub-rescue" screen instead. Then, I recreated a partition for Ubuntu (/dev/sda6) and reinstalled it. Ubuntu starts properly now; but GRUB shows me /dev/sda2 is Windows Recovery System (WRS), what is false, since /dev/sda1 is WRS and /dev/sda2 is Windows 7 Loader. I booted using Windows 7 disk and tried to correct this problem automatically and by bootrec.exe /fixboot and /fixmbr, and nothing is able to fix my problem. Yet, Windows (disk) says there is no OS in my computer. What should I do? Will I have to erase my hard disk to get Windows 7 back?

• Wired card not connecting after trying to connect

  I have an Ubuntu 12.10 PC. When I plug in my internet cable it starts connecting and after a minute it says it can't connect. I tried different cables but nothing works. Wlan works. I think it's the network driver but I don't know how to install/update it. • Drawing Grid in 3D view - Mathematically calculate points and draw line between them (Not working)

  I'm trying to draw a simple grid from a starting point and expand it to a size. Doing this mathematically and drawing the lines between each point, but since the "DrawPrimitives(LineList)" doesn't work the way it should work, And this method can't even draw lines between four points to create a simple Rectangle, so how does this method work exactly? Some sort of coordinate system: [ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ] [ ][2.2][ ][0.2][ ][2.2][ ] [ ][2.1][1.1][ ][1.1][2.1][ ] [ ][2.0][ ][0.0][ ][2.0][ ] [ ][2.1][1.1][ ][1.1][2.1][ ] [ ][2.2][ ][0.2][ ][2.2][ ] [ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ] I've checked with my method and it's working as it should. It calculates all the points to form a grid. This way I should be able to create Points where to draw line right? This way, if I supply the method with Size = 2 it starts at 0,0 and works it through all the corners (2,2) on each side. So, I have the positions of each point. How do I draw lines between these? VerticeCount = must be number of Points in this case, right? So, tell me, if I can't supply this method with Point A, Point B, Point C, Point D to draw a four vertice rectangle (Point A - B - C - D) - how do I do it? How do I even begin to understand it? As far as I'm concered, that's a "Line list" or a list of points where to draw lines. Can anyone explain what I'm missing? I wish to do this mathematically so I can create a a custom grid that can be altered.

  I have successfully setup PXE server on Ubuntu 12.04 with DNSMASQ for DHCP Proxy Service, TFTPD-HPA for TFTP service, NFS-KERNEL-SERVER, APACHE2 and SYSLINUX for pxelinux.0 bootloaded needed for pxe boot using the following POST: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1606910 I was successfully able to pxe boot a client to a Ubuntu 12.04 LIVE CD. Next, I want to PXE boot a client to a RHEL 6.5 x64 Kernel and initrd image. I dont want to install, just boot a client so that it mounts initrd and I can get a minimal filesystem on the client. How can I do that? Please Help!!

• Ubuntu 3D does not work on Dell system with a AMD Radeon HD 6470M

  I am running 64 bit Ubuntu on Dell with 1GB graphic card. I login with "Ubuntu" hoping to see Unity 3d but it doesn't. Unity 2D runs instead. when I type in echo "$DESKTOP_SESSION" it confirms the Unity-2D. I've checked the System info that shows like : The graphics row shows itself as empty. SO I've presumed that the graphic drivers aren't detected and hence I went to Unity- Additional Drivers and installed the fglrx driver that the UI has suggested. Even after installing so, the graphics part in System info details shows nothing and still Unity 2D runs in spite of all the effort. Please help! How can I get my Unity 3D back? • Trust External Surround Soundcard SC-5500p not working

  I got the following external sound card to make some awesome noise with my speaker set. It should be plug and play, but it so happens that when I plug it in and hook everything up, there's no sound at all. • disk not accessible

  i formatted my hard drive yesterday and it was working well even after the formatting. But when I restarted my system again , is is showing that the space is alloted to my files but they are inaccessible. I have even tried to unhide the files and folders, if they got hidden somehow. But nothing works. the hard drive is being shown empty but the properties are saying that it still conatins the data : http://imgur.com/ObjTE in the image, it is showing that the directory has only 1 file of size:4.8 kbps but the space being used by the drive is 11.6 GB. do suggest some solution.

The domain is registered with Google Apps for Business and the hosting is done with another company. I have some A records that are pointing the site to this server. However, as it appears the A records are only working halfway. What do I have to do to make it working for both http:// and http://www ?
