• DNS Replication issue

  We host the DNS for our domain. Two weeks ago, the developer requested that we setup a new zone 'dev.ourdomain.com' and place two host records in it my.dev.ourdomain.com and admin.dev.ourdomain.com. We added the zone to our DNS and added A records for the host. Now a week later, some DNS servers like google (8.8.8.8) and gtei (4.2.2.2) will resolve the hosts, but others like OpenDNS (208.67.222.222 ) and ATT Uverse (68.94.156.1) cannot resolve it. Any Ideas?

• Does Chrome include ANGLE for WebGL?

  I would like to try out WebGL on a laptop with an ATI Mobility Radeon 9000, WinXP/32, DirectX 9.0c. Some time ago I have gotten it to work with Firefox and software rendering. However, I heard about ANGLE and that some versions of Chrome support it. So I installed Chrome 11, canary build. Does that support ANGLE? Do I somehow need to activate it? Because, all WebGL pages that I tried with canary build say something like: "Failed to initialize WebGL"

• Why can't mplayer/libdvdcss/whatever play my DVDs?

  To put it bluntly, mplayer is unable to correctly play video DVDs. It seems to correctly find the title and everything, but the picture is broken or not displayed at all, with messages like: a52: CRC check failed! a52: error at resampling [mpeg1video @ 0xa8d840]sequence header damaged [mpeg1video @ 0xa8d840]Missing picture start code Now, this all is on amd64 Gentoo Linux system. I believe the problem is not in mplayer itself, since the playback also breaks in VLC or when i copy the VOBs via vobcopy and try to play them afterwards. I use libdvdcss-1.2.10 and libdvdread-4.1.3_p1168 (current stable in Gentoo), and tried previous versions of both libs, but it didn't change a thing. The DVDs I have tried play fine in regular DVD player or on a Windows laptop. I remember the playback used to work about a year ago and I don't know what to try next. Any hints would be welcome.

  I have server with debian lenny. I installed vserver on this server a few years ago. Summary I have 5 guest of vservers and main system, now. Each guest is debian lenny. Now, I'm wanting upgrade from lenny to squeezy on this servers (each Vservers and main machine). Do you do it? I should upgrade as usually system ? First I should upgrade every vserver next main machines and I have to do reset all machines and vservers? Please, advise me how to do it ?

• Issue about Exchange 07 SP2 Backup in SBS 08

  Hi, I'm trying to backup my Exchange 07 SP2 with the Windows Server Backup. Since it's supposed to make a exchange-aware backup with the SP2, I created a scheduled full backup of the C: (where is located my First Storage Group). The backup is successful, but when I go in Mailbox database's properties, I see that the last full backup is 2 months ago (a that time backup worked but we had some issue then). In Server Manager, Features, I checked that I have Windows Server Backup Features checked. What am I missing ? Thank you !

• Deactivating website in ISPConfig shows another site

  A long time ago, one of our clients setup a subdomain pointing to our ip-adress. We added a website (SitesWebsiteAdd new website) that points to one of our servers. The project is now closed and the client wants us to remove the content. When we deactivate (by unclicking active) this site it automatically defaults to another website we have in our list (!?). So, because the client is still pointing to our ip, when entering project.client.com another client project is showing up by default. How is this possible? Any suggestions? I can ofcourse give you guys more details when you tell me what details you need. Thanks

• Windows 7 x64: 3900mb of 4gb RAM usage, even when (almost) nothing running.

  As the title suggests, I am having a problem with memory usage. I have had my computer (Vaio AW11Z/B laptop) for over a year now, and it was running perfectly until I guess a day or two ago. Now programs randomly crash, the mouse lags around the screen and the memory usage is going through the roof for no apparent reason. I am having exactly the same problem as this guy: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7performance/thread/1f716693-0a46-473e-9dc0-8c2b1a058443/. I think he explains it better. Anyone had a similar issue? What's going on? I don't think it's a virus/adware thing. Thanks very much for any help.

• Remote desktop connection drops before login can appear

  Hi Everyone, Someone asked this question a few months ago and I have the exact same problem. I have tried all of the suggested solutions in the other posting (in particular reinstalling the video card on the server), but have not had any luck. I have gone through this troubleshooting guide in detail with no results: http://theillustratednetwork.mvps.org/RemoteDesktop/RemoteDesktopSetupandTroubleshooting.html I have a client with Remote Desktop enabled that I can't connect to in our local network. When I enter in the machine ip/port in the connect box and hit Connect, it briefly gives the normal "Connecting..." dialog box. However, after 2 seconds it just drops. No error message, nothing. Just disappears as if nothing was happening. •Windows XP SP3 •Windows firewall is open for 3389TCP •Machine is on a domain •RDP is enabled in My Computer •User is a local admin I have loads of other machines on the same domain with the same GPO that work fine. Any ideas?

• Getting iTunes to play third party AAC files

  I have a library filled with some old MP3 files and I'm in the process of changing them all to AAC for the better sound quality. Obviously I can't just create AAC versions of the files I already have because they would sound worse (lossy compression to converted to more lossy compression), so I'm going to their source and downloading them in a lossless form and using a third party to make them into AAC. Apparently iTunes will not handle AAC files that aren't made with iTunes. Is there a way around this? I've looked at third party programs and would be willing to use them, but since they all require the iTunes/iPod/iEverything driver, I don't know if they would still prevent my files or not. Also before you jump on my back about pirating, these files are from old CDs that I lost years ago. I paid for them. Thanks.

• Windows 7 Slow Searching

  I have a new Windows 7 machine with twice as much RAM and a faster processor than my old Windows Server 2008 R2 Machine. I am disappointed that searching amongst my 10,000 image files takes twice as long on my new Windows 7 machine. Both machines have their own copy of these same files. In other respects e.g. opening my huge Outlook files, the new machine is faster. The Windows Search Service has started. And I set indexing on the image folder about 3 days ago. Any ideas why I suffer from this poor index / search experience? Other than adding / removing folders, is there anything I can do to tweak indexing?

• Big noise from Power Supply Unity Fa? Should I replace it immediately?

  Recently, I started to get a large noise from my PC when switched on. After some time, it disappears. I discovered that the issue is with the Power Supply Unit. Does this mean I have a failing PSU? Will it harm the PC if I didn't replace it immediately? Several years ago I bought a new computer casing which is very weird. Its small and compact. Normally, we have the PSU in the top. But in here, the PSU is on the bottom and right below the hard drive. Recently, two of my hard drives started to show problems. Read errors and bad sectors. • Do I need to retain Sharepoint usage analysis log files

  Our Sharepoint installation currently has 30Gb of Usage Analysis Log file - these date back about six months. I have configured Sharepoint to do Usage Analysis Processing every night, so I am wondering whether I need to keep these files for so long. Sharepoint doesn't seem to clean up these files automatically - I think six months ago I had to clear out logs due to disk space issues. So my question is, do I need to retain these files in order to get decent usage analysis reports, or can I delete them as soon as the usage analysis processing has completed?

• How can I edit files directly from find results

  Let's say, I want to replace one string with another. Normally I use TextMate, but today, I don't remember why, I decided to run the search in Sublime Text 2 (which I installed some time ago, but haven't used since). I was impressed with "Find Results" window, seems more useful that textmate's. Then I tried to edit text right inside that window and (I can swear on my macbook) it worked (I was able to commit those changes to git repo)! I thought then, "Wow, that's a really nice feature. Should I migrate from TM already?". Unfortunately, I wasn't able to reproduce this behaviour later. I can still edit text in "find results" window, but changes don't persist (that is, original files are not touched). Am I doing something wrong now, or was it caffeine-induced hallucination earlier in the day?

• How to swap ctrl and fn key on a MacBook Pro running Windows 7 via Boot Camp?

  There are sooooo many discussion on the internet about swapping the fn and ctrl key on a MacBook Pro. On the Mac side, a new software called ReMap4MacBook does a perfect job swapping the two key. But on the PC side (specifically Windows 7), I can't really find a definitive answer. Most post refer to this article but I read the loooong article and followed the instructions to no avail. I remember there used to be a program (maybe it was on XP) that not only swapped the two keys but it also controlled the fans on the MacBook Pro. But I can't remember the name and I also recall that that program stopped being updated like years ago. EDIT: It's called Input Remapper. So I am hoping there exist a simple program that I can simply run to swap those two keys.

  I completed a project a year ago. Now a few modification were needed. While trying to test the site, there was an index.html file with a malicious script which had an iframe to another site's jar file. Kaspersky antivirus blocked it. I browsed via ftp to find the file and I deleted it. I also disabled directory listing. Maybe the ftp details of the site owner would have been hacked. I want to report this site to Google, Microsoft, Mozilla, and other antivirus providers. How do I do that? I hope kaspersky would have updated it in their database, but I still want to explicitly report this. Here is the popup kaspersky showed:

  Hi, I have a web application written by asp.net (c#) sql server 2005. we host it on 2 dedicated server ( IIS and SQL server ) From some month ago , in some days of week we have many reports about speed issue. we have some other application on this server using same database. when we have speed problem all aplication on these server have this problem, but applications on other server in same data center work correctly. ram and cpu usage are ok. how can I check that the problem related to internet connection or my application design? which parameters must be checked. Some other information In applications users can upload several files to server , each file up to 3 MB. we use a sql web admin application, on same server that has same problem, this is a standard application which work perfectly on other servers. • MacBook start up problem

  I have an aging, ailing MacBook. The battery died on it a few months ago, but can still use it when plugged in. I recently upgraded it to Snow Leopard. Had it unplugged for a few days. Went to boot it up today and now get this symptom: start up chime white screen with apple logo shuts off That's all it'll do. I tried unplugging and holding down the power button for 30 seconds but that didn't remedy the situation. Any theories? Finally an excuse to get the 27" iMac?

• Video converters don't work anymore after reinstalling Windows

  A few days ago, I decided to reinstall Windows 7 as my HD partition seemed to be nearly full and things were slowing down. I'd been using Handbrake almost exclusively to convert TV recordings and used Freemake on occasion. Following the reinstall, I can't get either to work: Handbrake says it's encoding for about 2 seconds and then says it's finished, but there are no converted files of any size. Freemake just says 'Conversion Error' and won't go any further. As an experiment I tried two programs that I don't normally use, VideoReDo & Any Video Converter. Both worked fine. Anyone got any clues?

  Hi all, We are quite stuck with which solution to choose for this backup issue: What should happen: First, there should be an interface were to choose several sql databases (sort of checkboxes or whatsoever), also a few folders should be backed up - this could be part of the program or could be seperate, I think about an interface were to select folders, but a txt file (or xml) with paths-to-folders is as good. Next, everything should be 7Zipped, SQL-DB and files seperate. Eventually everything should be copied to a local network drive after which copied via FTP. Also important; it could be programmed or (partly) bought but I can't be one of those expensive backup tools $1000+ etc. I already found this fairly priced tool that does already most of the tasks 7ZIP and copy to ftp sqlbackupandftp.com For your information: we had a kind of self-made tool created by a collegue (some time ago) but it became very untrustworthy and as the databases grew it couldn't handle it anymore... moving on Please come up with suggestions. • How would one run a task sequence within a task sequence in SCCM 2012 SP1

  A Shining Example: Inside all of my task sequences I have a group that installs driver packages conditionally based on computer model: And of course, this list does nothing but grow. The fact that it grows isn't a big deal, what is a big deal is that every time it changes I have to manually copy and paste those changes across every task sequence I have, which of course leaves huge room for human error. The same goes for other groups of tasks that are common across task sequences. Looking for a solution where I could centrally manage these tasks, be it link other task sequences to a group within another task sequence, or create a separate task sequence and link to that. I came across a solution by John Marcum (SCCM MVP) that mentioned this ability, but this was a while ago and I can't find the link to it anymore to see if it's even still being updated/maintained, but I'm looking for more of a free solution, or even using Powershell or the ConfigMgr SDK is fine with me, I'm no stranger to either. • After installing Windows what should I do first? update or install antivirus?

  Normally, after reformating and installing Windows 7, I used to go online and install all the updates, install all the driver updates and then install the anti virus. Because long ago, when I installed the anti virus first, applying windows updates crashed the AV! So, I install it last. Specially 7 sp1 is critical right? But now im having doubts... Going online without an antivirus means I'm vulnerable! (I have a home router which have a small firewall but I'm not sure about it) So, whats the best thing to do? Install the anti virus first or install the updates first?

• Can't access LAN computers with SSH

  I got a new Windows 7 machine, and was using VNC,SSH etc to connect to my Ubuntu machine, and it worked fine previously. Now it doesn't work if I use the machine's hostname or local IP, but if I use the DynDNS name, it works. I can also access it from my Android phone using the local hostname over SSH. If I try to connect with SSH to the hostname, it says "Host does not exist". VNC says "Failed to get server address". NX says "no address associated with name", and I don't see it in Windows' "Network" folder. I've rebooted everything. I've turned off Windows firewall. It was working fine a few days ago, but now it's not. How do I figure out what's blocking it?

• Address VMWare Fusion Linux guest by hostname?

  I have a Ubuntu Server 9.04 image set up in VMWare Fusion 3.0.0, using the NAT option for the guest's network connection. From the Mac host, I can ssh to the linux guest just fine using it's IP address, but I would like to be able to refer to it by hostname for connivence. ie: mac-host:~ ssh [email protected] I had a similar setup using Parallels a couple years ago, but I don't remember how it was set up. It may have "just worked". Any suggestion on how to make this work?

• How can I know I'm buying a heatsink that will work with my CPU?

  Recently I've been using my CPU a lot more for gaming, and as of two days ago, my computer had just been shutting off suddenly with no warning. I'm inclined to believe I need a new heatsink and cooling fan system. (Correct me if I am wrong.) Now I went around to BestBuy and Staples to purchase a new one, but both places instructed me to look online. Now I am posed with a problem. • Mountain Lion screen crashes after returning from sleep

  During the past 3 days I have experienced the following issue: when returning from sleep, I see an extremely garbled version of my desktop. The only thing that seems to help is a reboot. My first guess is that this is related to the video card. After looking into this issue, I found a lot of problems related to ML and returning from sleep, such as this post on AskDifferent, but I think this is a different issue because it does not speak of a garbled screen. Some more details: System: MacBook Pro 15" early 2011, 2,2GHZ I7, 8GB Ram, AMD Radeon HD6750M 1024 The issue seems to happen only when I open my laptop in the morning; if I close and open my laptop during the day, it does not seem to happen. The issue 'solves' when rebooting. Photo of how this looks: Update November 27th 2012: I re-installed my laptop a couple of weeks ago, which seemed to have solved the problem, but sadly, it still persists.
