• How do I add custom buttons to Formtastic?

  Hi, In the application I am developing, I would like to send messages in the form of JSON objects to a Django Server and parse the JSON response from the server and populate a custom listview. • Adding Emboss to a UILabel in a navigationItem.titleView (as seen with navigationItem.title)

  I'm trying to mimic the default emboss that automatically gets applied to navigationItem.title, as well as many other UIKit controls. As seen in this screenshot's title ("Table Cells"): I'm essentially trying to add 2 UILabels to the navigationItem.titleView, however the UILabels just show up as flatly drawn and it really just doesn't feel/look right :P I've thought about playing with shadows, but that would only give the embossed look (if even that) on one side of the label. Any ideas would be great! Thanks

Does anyone know of APIs that can take free form text and return an image that best represents the text? Right now, we're feeding the whole text to Google Image Search, but sometimes the extraneous words (e.g., at, for, $8.99) skew the query and induce weird results.

  hi! given a 3D grid, a 3d point as sphere center and a radius, i'd like to quickly calculate all cells contained or intersected by the sphere. Currently i take the the (gridaligned) boundingbox of the sphere and calculate the two cells for the min anx max point of this boundingbox. then, for each cell between those two cells, i do a box-sphere intersection test. would be great if there was something more efficient thanks!

  Hi, does anyone know of a very simple SQL Server client tool - that does the same basic functions as Management Studio (i.e. choose a database and run a query - doesn't need an Object Explorer, or anything fancy)? Ideally it would be great to have a single exe or zip file version that I could take around on a USB key - anything to avoid installing the full set of SQL Server client tools all the time!   Hi, I was looking up how to create a view programmatically and found the following example code: self.view = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 480)]; This works great, except I don't like that it hardcodes the size of the screen. Is there a way to look up the size of the screen? An important point someone brought up is that if the app is running during a phone call then the screen will be slightly smaller because of the green "return to call" bar.

  Hey guys, I'm developing an extension for Safari 5 at the moment. In my extension, I use an additional toolbar, with selectboxes in it. Now, it would be great to style these like the folders in the bookmarks toolbar look. I know that it would be possible to replace my select with a completely styleable ul-list or somethin like that, but maybe there is a simpler solution. However if I place them in a usercontrol, and then try to add this user control to the parent page via updatepanel, then my custom validators just won't trigger. They simply don't work.   I am writing an application that gets its dimensions from the paper ratio of the default printer of the local computer. This all works well unless the default printer is over a VPN. When this is the case, calling GetDefaultPrinter() takes too long. I need to find a way to put a time constraint on GetDefaultPrinter() and if it exceeds that constraint, break out of the function.
