  • htaccess order Deny,Allow rule

    - by aspiringCodeArtisan
I'd like to dynamically add IPs to a block list via htaccess. I was hoping someone could tell me if the following will work in my case (I'm unsure how to test via localhost). My .htaccess file will have the following by default: order allow, deny allow from all IPs will be dynamically appended: Order Deny,Allow Allow from all Deny from 192.168.30.1 The way I understand this is that it is by default allow all with the optional list of deny rules. If I'm not mistaken Order Deny,Allow will look at the Deny list first, is this correct? And does the Allow from all rule need to be at the end?

  • I am trying to write an htaccess file performs authentication and redirects authenticated users to a

    - by racl101
This is what I have so far but I can't get the RewriteCond and RewriteRule properly. RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{LA-U:REMOTE_USER} (\d{3})$ RewriteRule !^%1 http://subdomain.mydomain.com/%1 [R,L]. AuthName "My Domain Protected Area" AuthType Basic AuthUserFile /path/to/my/.htpasswd Require valid-user This is what I mean the ReWriteCond and RewriteRule to say: "If the REMOTE_USER has a username ending in 3 digits then capture the three digits that match and for whatever url they are trying to access if it does not start with the 3 digits captured then redirect them to the sub directory with the name equal to those captured three digits." In other words, if a user named 'johnny202' is authenticated then if he's requesting any directory other than http://subdomain.mydomain.com/202/ then he should be redirected to http://subdomain.mydomain.com/202/ The only thing I can think of that is wrong is the first instance of '%1'.

  • Is it possible to rsync your web site to another backup server and use the same .htaccess files?

    - by stephenmm
I am trying to use rsync to replicate all the files from one web server to another server that could act as a backup if the first one went down. The problem I am having is that the .htaccess file requires the AuthUserFile to have the fully quallified path to the .htpasswd file and I cannot make the paths the same on the two machines. Does anyone know how I might use the same .htaccess file on two different servers? Thanks for any help that can be provided.

  • Someone from china wants kill my entry bandwidth??

    - by yes123
Hi guys. Someoen from china with two different ip is downloading the same big file from my server. Their ip are: 122.89.45.210 60.210.7.62 They requesting this file and downloading more than 20 times per minute. What Can I do to prevent this? (I am on gentoo with root access) And WHY they do this to a site that doesn't have nothing to do with china ? ADD1: Other ips: 221.8.60.131 124.67.47.56 119.249.179.139 60.9.0.176 ADD2: the stupid thing is they are requesting only 1 single file lol. Or they want that file removed (tho i don't see why) Or they are pretty stupid ADD3: Situation is getting worse. IP are spreading from other countries too (usa and korea if www.geobytes.com/iplocator.htm it's right) And now they are requesting another file. ADD4: it seems after they realized i removed that file they stopped attacking me. I will monitor the situation. They started again after a sleep of 3-4 mintues with the same file (lucky me). Hard to say why this is happening

  • htaccess allow if does not contain string

    - by Tom
I'm trying to setup a .htaccess file which will allow users to bypass the password block if they come from a domain which does not start with preview. e.g. http://preview.example.com would trigger the password and http://example.com would not. Here's what I've got so far: SetEnvIfNoCase Host preview(.*\.)? preview_site AuthUserFile /Users/me/.htpasswd AuthGroupFile /dev/null AuthType Basic AuthName "Development Area" Require valid-user Order deny, allow Allow from 127 deny from env=preview_site Satisfy any Any ideas?

  • Question about RewriteRule and HTTP_HOST server variable

    - by SeancoJr
In evaluating a rewrite rule that redirects to a specific URL and say the rewrite condition is met, would it be possible to use HTTP_HOST as part of the URL to be redirected to? Example in question: RewriteRule .*\.(jpg|jpe?g|gif|png|bmp)$ http://%{HTTP_HOST}/no-leech.jpg [R,NC] The motive behind this question is a desire to create a single htaccess file that would match against an addon domain (on a shared hosting account) and an infinite amount of subdomains below it to prevent hotlinking of images.

  • HTTP request hangs for for exactly 150 seconds, then gives incomplete response. How do I find out wh

    - by Nathan
I am hosting a Wordpress blog, and having a strange problem. When I connect to the server (http://71.65.199.125/ at the time of this writing) it displays the Title correctly, and half of a download bar, indicating it has received some of the page, then it hangs for exactly 150 seconds (timed it twice), then it sends the rest of the page, but without the stylesheet. after that it hangs indefinitely, continuing to say "connecting..." without making any progress. If you have any clues as to what might be happening, or how I could print debug logs of PHP or something to see what it is looking for during that hang time that would probably help. recent changed I have made: switched wordpress themes, however I did see it work once with the new theme. moved the server to another building, with an identical ISP, and linksys router forwarding setup. I have also added a favicon.gif file to /var/www but without linking to it from any of the wordpress pages. I have also had a unanticipated power interruption. System info: Ubuntu debian 9.04 Apache2 PHP 5 Wordpress 2.9.2 Thank you

  • Dynamic Subdomains

    - by crash
On my new site I want to have dynamic subdomains. I'm trying to make it so that the subdomains use the same web root as the main domain, all under a single CodeIgniter installation. For example, subdomain.example.com would lead to example.com/subdomain, which is actually example.com/index.php/subdomain. I've already the DNS, virtual hosts set up but I"m getting caught up on the .htaccess. The effect of the linked htaccess is that when navigating to any subdomain, it gets caught up in an infinite loop. (Error log after one request.) It's the same effect for www., which should just resolve to the main domain.

  • Recommendation for a non-standard SSL port

    - by onurs
Hey guys, On our server I have a single IP, and need to host 2 different SSL sites. Sites have different owners so have different SSL certificates, and can't share the same certificate with SAN. So as a last resort I have modified the web application to give the ability to use a specified port for secure pages. For its simple look I used port 200. However I'm worried about some visitors may be unable to see the site because of their firewalls / proxies blocking the port for ssl connections. I heard some people were unable to see the website, a home user and someone from an enterprise company, don't know if this was the reason. So, any recommendations for a non-standard SSL port number (443 is used by the other site) which may work for visitors better than port 200 ? Like 8080 or 8443 perhaps? Thanks!

  • wildcard in httpd conf file?

    - by Joe
Here is an example httpd config I'm currently using: <VirtualHost 123.123.123.123:80> ServerName mysite.com ServerAlias www.mysite.com DocumentRoot /home/folder </VirtualHost> I'm wondering, is it possible to have a wildcard for the ServerName & ServerAlias variable? Reason for asking is I have some software that is shared among multiple URL's all controlled in a CMS and it's kind of a pain to add new domains via ssh everytimee. And before someone points out a security hole, the software does check the current URL before doing any webpages :)

  • Why is .htaccess not allowed in a directory but is allowed in another?

    - by John Isaacks
I have apache2 installed on ubuntu 10.4 inside my var/www/ directory [amung others] I have a cakephp and a dvdcatalog directories. Each of which have CakePHP 1.3 installed. I can access them both via localhost/cakephp and localhost/dvdcatalog But the dvdcatalog shows up with no css styling. They both have these files: /var/www/cakephp/app/webroot/css/cake.generic.css /var/www/dvdcatalog/app/webroot/css/cake.generic.css But when I go to http://localhost/cakephp/css/cake.generic.css it sees the file but it does not see the file when I go to http://localhost/dvdcatalog/css/cake.generic.css I think this means the cakephp folder is able to use .htaccess and the dvdcatalog is not. I setup the cakephp directory last month when I was following in the blog tutorial. I am setting up the dvdcatalog directory now for a different tutorial. So I am not sure if I am missing a step. in my /etc/apache2/apache2.conf file I have this: <Directory "/var/www/*"> Order allow, deny Allow from all AllowOverride All </Directory> Which I thought gave .htaccesss to all. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem is?

  • What is the correct root file to import to aptana from an xampp folder/existing web app or git repository?

    - by gaff
Very noob question - all of this is new to me - not really sure how to get started. Overview: I'm taking over an existing wep project that has been developed in aptana and deployed in xampp setup - I also have access to Git repository on local directory. I want to import the web application into aptana, run it and begin updating/editing - bit of steep learning curve for me What is the best way to import? And what should I import? What should it look like in aptanan? I tried importing what I think is the root file from the git folder ("existing folder as new project")- it contains things like css, doc, img and js. This looks right to me - but might not be. Thanks, Gaff

  • HTACCESS Rewrite problem

    - by TiuTalk
    I have this folder structure: /var/www/mysite/abc/ /var/www/mysite/def/ /var/www/mysite/fgh/ /var/www/mysite/ijk/ /var/www/mysite/portal/ /var/www/mysite/wyz/ Today's my server is redirecting all requests of www.mydomain.com to www.mydomain.com/portal and that's ok... But I want to modify this behavior and keep www.mydomain.com acessing the /var/www/mysite/portal/ folder on background while www.mydomain.com/abc/ still acessing the /var/www/mysite/abc/ folder as before. That's what i've tried without sucess on my htaccess: IndexIgnore * Options +FollowSymlinks <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On #This doesn't work!!! #RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^abc #Neither this :\ #RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/abc RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^$ /portal/index.php [L] RewriteRule . /portal/index.php [L] </IfModule> All requests keep goin to www.mydomain.com/portal/ when I use this .htaccess (with or without the commented lines)

  • mod_rewrite for specific domains in a mappings file

    - by scott
I have a bunch of domains that I want to go to one domain but various parts of that domain. # this is what I currently have RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^.*\.?foo\.com$ [NC] RewriteRule ^.*$ ${domainmappings:www.foo.com} [L,R=301] # rewrite map file www.foo.com www.domain.com/domain/foo.com.php www.bar.com www.domain.com/domain/bar.com.php www.baz.com www.domain.com/other/baz.php.foo The problem is that I don't want to have to have each domain be part of the RewriteCond. I tried RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\.(.*) RewriteRule (.*) http://%1/$1 [R=301,L] but that will do it for EVERY domain. I only want the domains that are in the mappings file to redirect, and then continue on to other rewrites if it doesn't match any domains in the mappings file.

  • Enable live streaming on website

    - by Somebody
I have a server colocated in a datacentre (dedicated 1Gbit line, SSDs, etc.) running CentOS 5.4 64-bit. I want to stream live video from a device (webcam, camcorder, whatever.) to my server which inturn can re-broadcast it on demand through a flash player (such as Flowplayer) so that more users will be able to watch the stream since the server is quite fast. Does a solution like this exist already (streaming software from live source to flash media server) or will I need to hire someone to code it? I see that VLC has an option to stream video.. will that be suitable in this case? Or is there a better way to do it? I don't want a browser based solution on my end. It'll be great if this can be done without running an X server but I don't mind either way. This will be running on a dedicated PC at home.

  • Best practice, or generally best way to set up web-hosting server, permissions, etc.

    - by Jagot
Hi, I'm about to set up a server upon which a friend and I will be hosting web sites, and I'll be using Debian. I've set up a LAMP solution many times just to using for local testing purposes, but never for actual production use. I was wondering what are the best practices are in terms of setting the server up, in reference specifically to accessing the web root directory. A couple of the options I have seen: Set up a single user account on the server for us both to use and use a virtual host to point to the somewhere in the home directory, e.g. /home/webdev/www. Set each of us up a user account, and grant permissions in some way to /var/www (What would be the best way? Set up a new group?) I want to get this right when I first set this up as there won't be any going back for a while once our first site is up and running. Appreciate any guidance in advance.

  • DNS Zone file and virtual host question (repost because my question got moved and now I can't comment on the original for some reason)

    - by Jake
Sorry this is a repost, the original question got moved to here form stack overflow and for some reason I can't comment or respond to answers on that one anymore. Hi all, I'm trying to set up a virtual host for redmine.SITENAME.com. I've edited the httpd.conf file and now I'm trying to edit my DNS settings. However, I'm not sure exactly what to do. Here's an snippet of what's already in the named.conf file (the file was made by someone else who is unreachable): zone "SITENAME.com" { type master; file "SITENAME.com"; allow-transfer { ip.address.here.00; common-allow-transfer; }; }; I figure if I want to get redmine.SITENAME.com working, I need to copy that entry and just replace SITENAME.com with redmine.SITENAME.com but will that work? I was under the impression I needed a .db file but I don't see any reference to one in the current named.conf file. I also don't see any .db files or files named SITENAME in named.conf's directory. Any ideas where these illusive pre-existing db files could be?

  • Help on using mod_rewrite to serve I18N static site

    - by Guandalino
My static site www.example.com is translated in different languages and files are organized in this hierarchy: / /de index.html seite-1.html /en index.html page-1.html /it index.html pagina-1.html The root contains no files, just one subdirectory for each language the site is translated in, while subdirectories contain pages translated (both content and file name are) in the language corresponding to subdirectory name, de, en, it, etc. The question is: how to configure mod_rewrite so that when a client visits www.example.com it is taken to the correct version of the site, falling back to english version if the required locale is not supported (i.e. Accept-Language header doesn't exist or specifies a language for which the site is not available, e.g. fr)? Thanks for any pointer, I'm here to provide further details or feedback! Best regards

  • Rewrite for robots.txt and favicon.ico [closed]

    - by BHare
I have setup some rules in which subdomains (my users) will default to where I have located the robots.txt, favicon.ico, and crossdomain.xml therefore if a user creates a site say testing.mywebsite.com and they don't make their own favicon.ico at testing.mywebsite.com/favicon.ico, then it will use the favicon.ico I have in /misc/favicon.ico This works perfect, but it doesn't work for the main website. If you attempt to go to mywebsite.com/favicon.ico it will check if "/" exists, in which it does. And then never redirects to /misc/favicon.ico How can I get it so both instances redirect to /misc/favicon.ico ? # Set all crossdomain (openpalace file) favorite icons and robots.txt doesnt exist on their # side, then redirect to site's just to have something to go on. RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} crossdomain.xml$ RewriteCond ^(.+)crossdomain.xml !-f RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /misc/crossdomain.xml [L] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} favicon.ico$ RewriteCond ^(.+)favicon.ico !-f RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /misc/favicon.ico [L] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} robots.txt$ RewriteCond ^(.+)robots.txt !-f RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /misc/robots.txt [L]
