• Java static source analysis/parsing (possibly with antlr), what is a good tool to do this?

  I need to perform static source analysis on Java code. Ideally, I want the system to work out of the box without much modification from me. For example, I have used Antlr in the past, but I spent a lot of time building grammar files and still didn't get what I wanted. I want to be able to parse a java file and have return the character position of say: Character position start and end of a Java block comment Character position start and end of a Java class file Character position start and end of a Java method declaration, signature, and implementation. It looks like Antlr will do that, but I have yet to finish a grammar that actually gives me the positions of the code I need. Does anyone have that complete Antlr grammar and Java code to give the character positions of the parts in the Java source.

• why is link generated in YUI javascript failing to render in rails?

  Using YAHOO.widget.treeview to generate a table with three levels of data: module, submodule, and detail. If there is an image associated with a detail row the javascript generates a link: "<td><a href=\"/screenshot/show/" + rowData.id + "\">Screenshot</a></td>" that is appended to the html for the row. The url is generated correctly and the link appears. When clicked nothing happens except the word 'Done' appears in the browser status bar. Am calling the very same url from another page that does not use javascript and the screenshot page appears as expected. • How do I create another controller action to create an object in rails?

  I have a model called Contact_Email. When an Email template is sent through ActionMailer to a specific Contact, as part of the Create action it sends it through upon .save. However, I want to create a "skip" action which also creates a Contact_Email, but does NOT send an ActionMailer and allows me to set the status differently.   Not sure the title fully describes the problem/question I'm trying to ask, sorry. One of my fellow developers has created classes as such: class Widget attr_accessor :model_type ... end and: class ModelType MODEL1 = "model1" MODEL2 = "model2" MODEL3 = "model3" end Now he wants me to convert a retrieved string "MODEL1" to the constant. So that when he is referencing that model elsewhere he can use ModelType::MODEL1. Obviously I've got to convert from the string I'm being given with something like the following: case model_type when 'MODEL1' @model_type = ModelType::MODEL1 ... end I feel like this is clunky, so I'd like to know if there is a better DRYer way of providing this kind of functionality.

• Vertical line problem in the detail section of Crystal report

  Hello, I have a little problem with the vertical lines in Detail section. In detail section at the end there is horizontal line. Also I have Report Footer section which displays total number of records. I suppressed Page Footer section. I would like end all the vertical lines to the last line of the records not to extend beyond the "Total"(Report Footer). It works fine if everything on the same page. The problem starts when the last line of the detail is on the first page and the "Total" wouldn't fit on the first page. It displays "Total" on the second page and it draws vertical lines to the end of the page. Thanks for any suggestion.

  Hi Gurus, This is with reference to this question where I got one tabular report format. I need to update the user entered values correctly back to the same table rows. I am in the process of doing this by using general form post data methods by using some logics which I think will not be easy to maintain. So, just out of curiosity, Is there a front end creator javascript libraries or frameworks which can create the front end for any query's resultset and updates the corresponding rows when the user updates them from front end. This need not have all the full functionality, any one usable, customizable thing will reduce the code maintenance problems. I have googled for some javascript libraris for this but not able to get which will be suitable. Please suggest any useful tools. My environment is Mysql, PHP, JQuery, XAMPP server on Windows. (Just to give little detail, the something_else() function performs a left-to-right exponentiation using montgomery represantation, moreover I don't know for certain that the something_else() function does indeed take some not negligible time.) • How do you write a recursive stored procedure

I have been looking for an example, but cant find one, and am not sure how I should get the sp to call itself, and set the appropriate output parameter. Question is though, what's the right way to do this? Can I somehow make 1 SQL SELECT call to do this?

  When I try to modify and then save a model using DataMapper I get a SaveFailure exception but no errors. • Help choosing the right data structure

  I need a data structure with the following requirements: Needs to be able to get elements by index (like a List). I will always just add / remove elements from the end of the structure. I am inclined to use an ArrayList. In this situation, it seems to be O(1) both to read elements (they always are?), remove elements (I only need to remove them at the end of the list) and to add(I only add to the end of the list). There is only the problem that time to time the ArrayList will have a performance penalty when it's completly full and I need to add more elements to it. Is there any other better idea? I don't think of a data structure that'd beat the ArrayList here. Thanks

• Can I have sinatra not read the entire request body into memory?

  Say I have a sinatra route ala: put '/data' do request.body.read [...] end It appears that the entire request.body is read into memory. Is there a way to consume the body as it comes into the system, rather than having it all buffered in Rack/sinatra beforehand? I see I can do this to read the body in parts, but the entire body still seems to be read into memory beforehand. put '/data' do while request.body.read(1024) != nil [...] end [...] end

• Send serialised object via socket

  Whats the best way to format a message to a server, at moment I'm serilising an object using the binaryformatter and then sending it to the server. At the server end its listening in an async fashion and then when the buffer size recieved is not 100% it assumes that the transfer has complete. This is working and the moment, and I can deserialise the object at the other end, I'm just concerned that if I start sending async this method will fail has message's could be blurred. I know that I need to mark the message somehow as to say that's the end of message one, this other bit belongs to message 2, but I'm unsure of the correct way to do this. Could anyone point me in the right direction and maybe give me some examples? Thanks

• VB6 debugging- doesn't go to error handling code.

  Hi, I'm maintaining a vb6 project(ActiveX DLL). When debugging, the app run into the following function: Public Function HasValue(ByVal vValue) As Boolean On Error GoTo Err If IsMissing(vValue) Then HasValue = False ElseIf IsNull(vValue) Or Len(vValue) = 0 Then HasValue = False ElseIf isEmpty(vValue) Then HasValue = False Else HasValue = True End If Exit Function Err: If IsArray(vValue) Or IsObject(vValue) Then HasValue = True Else HasValue = False End If End Function and it stops at the line ElseIf IsNull(vValue) Or Len(vValue) = 0 Then vValue is a custom object, contains some properties(obviously, not null). Although I didn't put any break point there, the app stopped there and alerted error dialog saying that "Run-time error '438': Object doesn't support this property or method". We had error handling code but the app didn't run to error handling code. It just stopped at the line causing the error and I had to stop the application. Do you have any idea about that?   I'm going to have a ton of subclasses, so want to organize them under a subfolder called stream. I added the following line to the environment.rb so that all classes in the subfolder would be loaded: Rails::Initializer.run do |config| ... config.load_paths += Dir["#{RAILS_ROOT}/app/models/*"].find_all { |f| File.stat(f).directory? } ... end I thought this would solve the issue in which by convention the model class is namespaced into an according module. However, when I try to call one of the classes called stream in the stream folder, I get the following error: NoMethodError: undefined method `new' for Stream:Module from (irb):28 from /usr/local/bin/irb:12:in `<main>' Here's the model for the parent and one child: class Stream end class EventStream < Stream end Any idea what the issue is?

How do I implement this without loss of accuracy after a while and after heavy client abuse.   when I use fopen function , why don't I use r+ always , even when I'm not going to write any thing ... is there a reason for separating writing/reading process from only reading .. like , the file is locked for reading when I use r+ , because i might write new data into it or something ... another question : in php manual a+ : Open for reading and writing; place the file pointer at the end of the file. If the file does not exist, attempt to create it. What is supposed to be read if you are at the end of the file ..(pointer at the end) !!? where to learn more about the filesystem thing .... it's confusing
