  • Boot to remote desktop

    I'm trying to find out what existing options there are out there to boot a machine into a remote desktop (RDP). Ideally the user would have a USB key and just plug it into the machine and boot via it establishing an RDP connection to their virtualised enviroment (stored on a server). Essentially the anticipated flow will be Power On - Boot sequence - Remote Desktop Login screen.

    Hi I have a fresh install of Crunchbang (basically Ubuntu with Openbox instead of Gnome). In any case, I can't connect to my WPA network - when I click on it in the nm-applet and it asks me to authenticate my only options are: WEP 10/128-bit key WEP 128-bit Passphrase LEAP Dynamic WEP (802.1x) wpa_supplicant is indeed installed, yet WPA does not get listed... any ideas?

  • How to confirm memcache memory increase?

    Alright, I have downloaded /etc/sysconfig/memcache And edited the file that contained "PORT="11211" USER="memcached" MAXCONN="1024" CACHESIZE="64" OPTIONS="" to 1000 cachesize. I uploaded the file back to the server. Now I know there is a way to check if the changes took effect, but I cant remember how. I tried "memcached-tool 127.0.0.1:11211 stats" but it didnt show me the RAM size. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello, currently I have dual boot with 2 windows 7. (dont ask why, long story, I need them for each with different settings involving Audio Recording) I am very keen to install the new Ubuntu and get into a new OS, out of interest but I don't want to mess with my current 2 windows installations? If I install Ubuntu, will this simply add to my list of OS boot options when you set it, like I did when I install my 2nd Windows 7 Any comments or help would be great? Thanks Bill

    I'm using the standard Database Model Diagram template in Visio 2007. When I try to connect two entities, the line is a "one and only one" type. I need a "zero or more" type, but no amount of line editing will change the line. Is this a bug? The Visio help does not describe how to do this and the MS website turns up no results for 2007 (plenty for 2003, but the menu options it refers to are not in 2007).

Set charset and collation , db connection , mb_settings , names utf-8 and utf8_unicode_ci, everywhere (php,mysql,apache) to be sure to serve files as UTF-8 i enabled multiview renamed index.php.utf8.fr and static.php.utf8.fr With multiview enabled, Multibytes Accents in URL works SSL TLS 1.0 What dont work: With multiview enabled , mod_rewrite works for only one of my rewriterules With multiview Disabled, i loose access to the document root as "Forbidden" With multiview Disabled, i loose Multibytes (single charater accent) The Apache Default server is full of settings.   • How to get files that are dragged on Aquamacs (or opened via Quicksilver) to open in the same frame

    In Aquamacs 2.0 preview 6, when opening new files externally (e.g., via Quicksilver or via dragging files on the Aquamacs icon) they always open in new frames (i.e., new windows). I would prefer new files to be opening in the same frame, just in a new buffer (possibly with tabs turned on). I already unchecked the option "Show Buffers in new Frames", but that only seems to affect the behavior of the built-in open command (Command-o). Are there any options for this or some other way to modify this behavior?

  • Is there a way to specify minimum minibuffer/echo area size in emacs?

    I am running Emacs 24, and due to a separate issue, my input method displays input candidates in the minibuffer regardless of how I set its options. That would not be such a problem if the minibuffer did not resize from height 2 (when displaying candidates) to height 1 (when not), repeatedly, as I scroll through candidates--it's really jarring. I looked through the documentation online and searched the configuration pages, but I couldn't find a setting for this. Is it possible?

However, when I go to the connection settings, I only see USB and COM1 options. No option for ethernet.     I am using redhat-linux terminal to connect to a router device by means of 'telnet'. While the device boots, the characters are getting printed in garbage manner which is as follows, In terminal, If I click on the the menu 'Terminal'-- 'Reset', then it is getting changed to proper alphabetical. Is there any way available to prevent it ? I have tried setting the encoding of the terminal to UTF-8 from the menu options. But, still the same issue.

    I played with avconv on Ubuntu and I'm now able to e.g. record the desktop with sound from a soundcard. One thing I wanted to do was recording two video inputs at the same time, for instance the desktop and from the webcam. I thought about doing something like this: avconv \ -f alsa \ -i default \ -acodec flac \ -f video4linux2 \ -r 6 \ -i /dev/video0 \ -f x11grab \ -i :0.0 \ out.mkv My thinking was that if you define multiple video inputs, and the .mkv format can handle multiple video streams, avconv will encode 2 video streams and 1 audio stream into one file.   • What user is the script run as after Carbon Copy Cloner ends scheduled task?

    On Mac OS X I keep data on a local server mirrored with the same data on a remote server with a scheduled backup task done with Carbon Copy Cloner. After the backup is done a bash script is run as specified in the scheduled task options of CCC. Is the script run as root? Or differently and more generally: as my script writes to a log file, what command should I put on my script to see on the log if the script is running as root or something else?

  • PPTP VPN Not Working - Peer failed CHAP authentication, PTY read or GRE write failed

    Brand-new install of CentOS 6.3. Followed this guide: http://www.members.optushome.com.au/~wskwok/poptop_ads_howto_1.htm And I got PPTPd running [v1.3.4]. I got the VPN to authenticate users against our Active Directory using winbind, smb, etc. All my tests to see if I'm still authenticated to the AD server pass ["kinit -V [email protected]", "smbclient", "wbinfo -t"]. VPN users were able to connect for like . . . an hour. I tried connecting from my Android phone using domain credentials and saw that I got an IP allocated for internal VPN users [which I've since changed the range, but even setting it back to the initial doesn't work]. I'll limit this later to just the authenticating traffic it needs, but for now I think we can rule out the firewall blocking anything.
