  • High resolution on small screen

    I just purchased a new ultrabook (Asus UX32VD). Awesome laptop, but I am having trouble using it with its native resolution being 1920 x 1080. Text is so small and hard to read. I have increased the text size in the display options but it don't really improve it for all scenarios, especially in webpages. I am wondering if there is a possible solution to this? Simply lowering the resolution makes everything look pixelated.

  • Windows 8 black screen with mouse pointer after login

    I restarted my system today and after logging in, i could see see nothing but a black screen with mouse pointer. I can start task manager via alt+ctrl+del, Task manager and msconfig show fine but when i try to run 'explorer' nothing happens. In safe mode everything seems fine. I do not have any system restore points and repair options from the DVD show "this option is not available for the selected OS" I've also updated my graphic drivers. Didn't help

  • Noscript button missing in Firefox

    Windows XP professional SP3 Firefox 13.0.1 NoScript Addon 2.4.6 I can't click Javascript links, like for opening a popup window (which I usually don't care about, but this time it was Important :-( ). I mention NoScript as I used to have a button where I could temporarily enable Javascript so the link would work, but with one of the latest updates this seems to be gone. I have "Block popup windows" unchecked and "Enable Javascript" checked in Options. How can I get the NoScript button back?

  • Alternative to VLC player [closed]

    I've been using VLC player but since the latest version (2.0.1) it's rendering all the Hebrew subtitles as question marks. I'm looking for a good free alternative that runs on Windows OS. I prefer a player with a huge dashboard and zillion preferences where all the possible options are customizable. Once ago I used MV2 player and loved that type of player that supports all the possible tweaks etc. etc.

  • Slash after domain in URL missing for Rails site

    After redirecting users in a Rails app, for some reason the slash after the domain is missing. Generated URLs are invalid and I'm forced to manually correct them. The problem only occurs on a subdomain. On a different primary domain (same server), everything works ok. For example, after logging out, the site is directing to https://www.sub.domain.comlogin/ rather than https://www.sub.domain.com/login I suspect the issue has something to do with the vhost setup, but I'm not sure.   • How to redirect external web request to localhost's testing server

    Some web services calls my web application(www.myapplication.com/external_update_handler). I need to test those requests locally, so I'd like to know your opinions about how can I "redirect" those requests to my localhost dev machine(that is outside of my web aplication domain) so I can debug. Probably it's needed a service/server to get those external requests and a desktop application that sends it to localhost:5555/external_update_handler, but I have no idea where to start and simpler options.

Any ideas on where to troubleshoot?   • FTP server (open source?) with paid support

    Corporate has asked us to look for an FTP server solution with paid support. Our team has a preference for open source, and would normally support it ourselves. But the guys at the top want that secure feeling of paying someone to CYA. Soooooo....what kind of options are out there for FTP server that supports FTP, FTPS, SFTP, plus has a web-based front end so people could transfer files that way...that also has the option of paid support?     My company uses an internal management software for storing products. They want to transpose all the products in a MySql database so they can do available their products on the company website. Notice: they will continue to use their own internal software. This software can exports all the products in various file format (including XML). The syncronization not have to be in real time, they are satisfied to syncronize the MySql database once a day (late night). Also, each product in their software has one or more images, then I have to do available also the images on the website.   • Can I set Outlook to always Reply to All?

    This may be hidden in the options somewhere but a glance through didn't find it: Is it at all possible to set Outlook so that a click on the "Reply" button (or, as I do, hitting Ctrl-R) will always reply-to-all, rather than reply to one? Or, I suppose, a basic switch of the reply buttons so that the default is reply-to-all, and, for example, I could hit Ctrl-Shift-R instead to reply to one? It's annoying me to constantly have to hit reply-to-all when that's all I do, and I sometimes forget to do it.

  • Expendable, Redundant, Easily recoverable

    I am desperate at this point, I have been looking for "Big storage" solution for a while on my own and I can't find anything that would suite my needs. But now push came to shove. Current situation: I have about 6TB data storage (already full) - Drobo. Yesterday Drobo died on me and it put me into bad situation - I can't recover my data without buying another Drobo. From extensive research online I realized that Drobo is not the safest bet and by now it seems very poor choice. I ordered new Drobo to try to get my data back, however I don't want to be in the same situation later and continuing using Drobo promises this event to re-occur. What I am looking for: 1) Inexpensive setup. 2) Dynamically extendable - add more drives and/or replace a drive with bigger capacity. 3) Redundant - setup against 1-3 drive failure, will depend on total number of drives. For the sake of argument let's assume for every 4 drives one should be able to fail without data loss. 4) Easy data recovery - let's say unforeseen happens, I would like to be able to recover information without buying new tools or replacements - example: new Drobo. 5) Should be USB or Network Attach Storage 6) No demand on speed. Doesn't have to be fast, I am not doing video editing on the setup. However if option exists, would be nice to have a decent speed. After thoughts: I reviewed few options and FreeNAS looks nice, but it doesn't have #2 - Dynamic extendability. There are work around with Pools but it seems a bit complicated and unnecessary. More over it seems like data safety is a big question - saw some horror stories. Please advise on what options I have and what seems like an optimal solution (if any). I don't care if it has to be Windows or Linux box or any other OS and/or software that has to run on top, but simple solution is more attractive. Thank you!
