• App crashes only after second execution only in Release configuration

  Hey all, i know this is probably not an easy question to answer, as it's hard to describe on my hand. I have an app that runs without problems on the device in Debug Configuration (also multiple times). Once I put it into Release Configuration (which I need before publishing?), the app starts without problems and I can proceed to the next page, where I show an core-plot graph. BUT only if I run it from xcode. As soon as I end the App and start it again, it opens without problems, but on the next page, it crashes. • Deleting JPA entity containing @CollectionOfElements throws ConstraintViolationException

  I'm trying to delete entities which contain lists of Integer, and I'm getting ConstraintViolationExceptions because of the foreign key on the table generated to hold the integers. It appears that the delete isn't cascading to the mapped collection. I've done quite a bit of searching, but all of the examples I've seen on how to accomplish this are in reference to a mapped collection of other entities which can be annotated; here I'm just storing a list of Integer. • Classic ASP Session not working in IIS 7 Windows Server 2008 R2 x64

  Hi, I've been googleing and searching here info about this but so far couldn't find anything relevant to my problem. We have a website currently working on II6 and Windows Server 2003 (x86) without any problem. Now we want to migrate our server to a Virtual Machine with Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64) and IIS7. Out current app is built in Classic ASP and SQL Server (This one located on a 2nd Server but this is staying the way it is now). The website is configured as a WebSite, not a virtual directory. Using DefaultAppPool with 4 applications. • Eclipse RCP: Using different JUnit version (4.3.1) than shipped with eclipse galileo (4.5.0)

  Hallo, I have the following situation: We are developing an Eclipse RCP Application and want to switch from Eclipse 3.4 to Eclipse 3.5. Our JUnit-Tests are using JUnit 4.3.1 and we have a launch configuration to start our test suite. I think I don't need to go into more details here. The problem is: Running the tests with Eclipse 3.5 does not work: JUnit cannot find any annotations in the test classes (neither (at)Test nor (at)RunWith). I patched the junit library with some logging output to check what is going on. I found out that this problem is a classloading issue: The test class passed to JUnit 'lies in' a ClassLoader which is different from the one JUnit uses to load the annotation classes like 'RunWith'. This is not the case in Eclipse 3.4 in org.junit.internal.requests.ClassRequest: public Runner getRunner() { log("TestClass ClassLoader: "+this.fTestClass.getClassLoader()); log("RunWith.class ClassLoader: "+RunWith.class.getClassLoader()); ... // validating test class: searching for annotations and more } The first line prints another classloader than the second line. This is bad because JUnit cannot match the annotations in the test class with the Annotation-Class (here: RunWith.class): "RunWith" in CL1 is not equal to "RunWith" in CL2. I have a solution which points to the core problem: Replace JUnit 4.5 in Eclipse Galileo with JUnit 4.3.1 so that there is only one JUnit-Version: The Test-Run and the tests classes are both using JUnit 4.3.1 (I had to patch "org.eclipse.jdt.junit4.runtime" to accept an ealier junit version). I think I can also replace JUnit 4.3.1 in my test class with Version 4.5, but that is not an option yet. Guess: The classloaders are different because the classes 'come from' different JUnit-Bundles: the testclass with its annotations from version 4.3.1 and the test runs in version 4.5 What I want to know: Is there any other solution besides patching Eclipse (replace JUnit versions)? Any commandline argument or such? Any configuration to force Eclipse to Use JUnit 4.3.1? Any hints on the above described analysis are welcome!

• Rotate UIViewController to counteract changes in UIInterfaceOrientation

  Hi there, I've been searching a lot on this, and can't find anything to help me. I have a UIViewController contained within another UIViewController. When the parent UIViewController rotates, say from Portrait to LandscapeLeft, I want to make it look as though the child didn't rotate. That is to say. I want the child to have the same orientation to the sky regardless of the parent's orientation. If it has a UIButton that's upright in Portrait, I want the right-side of the button to be "up" in UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft. Is this possible? Furthermore, I was planning on using CGAffineTransform (like cited here: http://www.crystalminds.nl/?p=1102) but I'm confused about whether I should change the view's dimensions to match what they will be after the rotation. The big nightmare here is that you have to keep track of a global "orientation" variable. If you don't, the illusion is lost and the ViewController is rotated into whatever. I could really use some help on this, thanks!

• what type of bug causes a program to slowly use more processor power and all of a sudden go to 100%?

  Hi, I was hoping to get some good ideas as to what might be causing a really nasty bug. This is a program which is transmitting data over a socket, and also receives messages back. I could explain lots more, but I don't think this will help here. I'm just searching for hypothetical problems which can cause the following behaviour: program runs processor time slowly accumulates (till around 60%) all of a sudden (could be after 30 but also after 60 seconds) the processor time shoots to 100%. the program halts completely In my syslog it always ends on one line with a memory allocation (something similar to: myArray = new byte[16384]) in the same thread. now here is the weird part: if I set the debugger anywhere...it immediately stops on that line. So just the act of setting a breakpoint, made the thread continue (it wasn't running since I saw no log output anymore) I was thinking 'deadlock' but that would not cause 100% processor power. If anything, the opposite. Also, setting a breakpoint would not cause a deadlock to end. anyone else a theoretical suggestion as to what kind of 'construct' might cause this effect? (apart from 'bad programming') ;^) thanks EDIT: I just noticed.... by setting the sendspeed slower, the problem shows itself much later than expected. I would think around the same amount of packets send...but no the amount of packets send is much higher this way before it has the same problem.

• Websphere 7 EntityManagerFactory creation problem

  Hello, I'm working on a maven project which uses seam 2.2.0, hibernate 3.5.0-CR-2 as JPA provider, DB2 as database server and Websphere 7 as application server. Now I'm facing de following problem: In my EJBs that are seen also as SEAM components I want to use the EntityManager from EJB container (@PersistenceContext private EntityManager em) not Seam's EntityManager (@In private EntityManager em). But this is the problem, I cannot obtain an EntityManager using @PersistenceContext. On server logs it sais that it cannot create an EntityManagerFactory and gets a ClassCastException: java.lang.ClassCastException: org.hibernate.ejb.HibernatePersistence incompatible with javax.persistence.spi.PersistenceProvider After a lot of debugging and searching on forums I'm assuming that the problem is that Websphere doesn't use the Hibernate JPA provider. Has anyone faced this problem and has a solution? I configured already WAS class loader order for my application to load the classes with the application class loader first and I\ve packed all necessary jars in application ear as written in: WAS InfoCenter: Features for EJB 3.0 development . If necessary I'll post my persistence.xml, components.xml files and stack trace. • what's the alternative to readonlycollection when using lazy="extra"?

  I am trying to use lazy="extra" for the child collection of Trades I have on my Client object. The trades is an Iset<Trade Trades, exposed as ReadOnlyCollection<Trade because I do not want anyone to modify the collection directly. As a result, I have added AddTrade and RemoveTrade methods. Now I have a Client Search page where I need to show the Trade Count. and on the Client details page I have a tab where I need to show all the trades for the Client in paged gridview. What I want to achieve is, for the search when I say on the client object as client.Trades.Count, nHibernate should only fire a select count(*) query. Hence I am using lazy="extra". But because I am using a ReadOnlyCollection, nHibernate fires a count query & a separate query to load the child collection trades completely. Also, I cannot include the Trades in my initial search request as this would disturb the paging because a counterparty can have n trades which would result in n rows, when I am searching clients only. So the child collections have to be loaded lazily. The second problem is that on the client details page -- Trades grid view, I have enabled paging for performance reasons. But by nature nHibernate loads the entire collection of trades as the user goes from one page to another. Ideally I want to control this by getting only trades specific to the page the user is on. How can I achieve this? I came across this very good article. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/876976/implementing-ipagedlistt-on-my-models-using-nhibernate But I am not sure if this will work for me, as lazy=extra currently doesnt work as expected with the ReadOnlyCollection. So, if I went ahead and implemented the solution this way and further enhanced it by making the List/Set Immutable, will lazy=extra give me the same problem as with ReadOnlyCollections?

• Change find method in database search so that it isn't case sensitive in Rails app

  Hello, I am learning Rails and have created a work-in-progress app that does one-word searches on a database of shortcut keys for various programs (http://keyboardcuts.heroku.com/shortcuts/home). The search method in the Shortcut model is the following: def self.search(search) search_condition = "%" + search + "%" find(:all, :conditions => ['action LIKE ? OR application LIKE ?', search_condition, search_condition]) end ...where 'action' and 'application' are columns in a SQLite table. (source: https://we.riseup.net/rails/simple-search-tutorial) For some reason, the search seems to be case sensitive (you can see this by searching 'Paste' vs. 'paste'). Can anyone help me figure out why and what I can do to make it not case sensitive? If not, can you at least point me in the right direction? Database creation: I first copied shortcuts from various website into Excel and saved it as a CSV. Then I migrated the database and filled it with the data using db:seed and a small script I wrote (I viewed the database and it looked fine). To get the SQLite database to the server, I used Taps as outline by the Heroku website (http://blog.heroku.com/archives/2009/3/18/push_and_pull_databases_to_and_from_heroku/). I am using Ubuntu. • Comparing objects with IDispatch to get main frame only (BHO)

  I don't know if anyone familiar with BHO (Browser Helper Object), but an expert in c++ can help me too. In my BHO I want to run the OnDocumentComplete() function only on the main frame - the first container and not all the Iframes inside the current page. (an alternative is to put some code only when this is the main frame). I can't find how to track when is it the main frame that being populated. After searching in google I found out that each frame has "IDispatch* pDisp", and I have to compare it with a pointer to the first one. • How to debug a web service written in PHP?

  Hello, I've got a nice question here :) I need to debug my web service written in PHP. Its client is written in C#. After a couple of days of searching I realized this is not an easy task. At least it seems nobody knows the right solution. What is the problem in, actually? We have 2 popular PHP debugging libraries : PHP Debugger from NuSphere and XDebug extension. The problem is they both are controlled from URL query string or with the help of cookies. For example, to enable debugging with PHP Debugger you need to add ?DBGSESSID=xxx parameter to your URL or to have DBGSESSID cookie. But when your web service is called from the external client, the client doesn't have a cookie and doesn't add DBGSESSID url parameter. So how can we debug in this situation? PS. I don't want to write to log files, see request and response headers/data or something like this. I want normal step-by-step debugging and breakpoints. Anyone?

  I have come across some strange behaviour, and I'm assuming a bug in firefox, when removing a input submit element from the DOM from within the click event. The following code reproduces the issue: <form name="test_form"> <input type="submit" value="remove me" onclick="this.parentNode.removeChild(this);" /> <input type="submit" value="submit normally" /> <input type="button" value="submit via js" onclick="document.test_form.submit();" /> </form> To reproduce: Click "remove me" Click "submit via js". Note that the form does not get submitted, this is the problem. Click "submit normally". Note that the form still gets submitted normally. It appears that, under Firefox, if you remove a submit button from within the click event it puts the form in an invalid state so that any future calls to form.submit() are simply ignored. But it is a javascript-specific issue as normal submit buttons within this form still function fine. To be honest, this is such a simple example of this issue that I was expecting the internet to be awash with other people exeriencing it, but so far searching has yealded nothing useful. Has anyone else experienced this and if so, did you get to the bottom of it? Many thanks

• Are there any decent free JAVA data plotting libraries out there?

  On a recent JAVA project, we needed a free JAVA based real-time data plotting utility. After much searching, we found this tool called the Scientific Graphics Toolkit or SGT from NOAA. It seemed pretty robust, but we found out that it wasn't terribly configurable. Or at least not configurable enough to meet our needs. We ended up digging very deeply into the JAVA code and reverse engineering the code and changing it all around to make the plot tool look and act the way we wanted it to look and act. Of course, this killed any chance for future upgrades from NOAA. So what free or cheap JAVA based data plotting tools or libraries do you use? Followup: Thanks for the JFreeChart suggestions. I checked out their website and it looks like a very nice data charting and plotting utility. I should have made it clear in my original question that I was looking specifically to plot real-time data. I corrected my question above to make that point clear. • Unable to install Management Studio Express 2008 due to Visual Studio 2008 installation

  I am attempting to install Managment Studio Express 2008 on a Win7 system that already has Visual Studio 2008 installed. I have installed VS 2008 SP1, which results in the About box for Visual Studio giving a version of 9.0.30792.1 SP. When I attempt the Management Studio installation I see a message that tells me that I must install SP1. However, this is already installed. After a fair bit of searching I came across the link below, where someone had commented with a command line option for the installation executable that forced it to skip the check. However, this simply pushed the error to later in the installation process. http://www.thushanfernando.com/index.php/2008/08/10/fix-rule-previous-releases-of-microsoft-visual-studio-2008-failed/. This seems to be a perennial problem for Microsoft. I can't remember a time when I've painlessly installed both Management Studio and Visual Studio. I can't imagine that this is an unusual combination, after all! Anyone had any success in solving this problem before I take on the day-long task of uninstalling and reinstalling Visual Studio and all its associated bits?

  I plan to create very simple custom IP-STS for SharePoint foundation 2010 without ADFS server so anyone can integrate Windows Live ID to SharePoint foundation 2010 simply without ADFS, I can't use ADFS server because it could not install on Windows Web Server 2008 (Web Edition), also I found many article use LDAP provider but it does not exists in SharePoint Foundation too (it requires Sharepoint Server Edition). • .NET projects build automation with NAnt/MSBuild + SVN

  Hi everyone, for quite a while now, I've been trying to figure out how to setup an automated build process at our shop. I've read many posts and guides on this matter and none of them really fits my specifics needs. My SVN repository is laid out as follows \projects \projectA (a product) \tags \1.0.0.1 \1.0.0.2 ... \trunk \src \proj1 (a VS C# project) \proj2 \documentation Then I have a network share, with a folder for each project (product), which in turn contains the binaries, written documentation and the generated API documentation (via NDoc - each project may have an .ndoc file in the repository) for every historical version (from the tags SVN folder) and for the latest version as well (from the trunk). Basically, what I want to do in a scheduled batch build are these steps: examine the project's SVN folder and identify tags not present in the network share for each of these tags check out the tag folder build (with Release config) copy the resulting binaries to the network share search for .ndoc files generate CHM files via NDoc copy the resulting CHM files to the network share do the same as in 2., but for the HEAD revision of trunk Now, the trouble is, I have no idea where to start. I do not keep .sln files in the repository, but I am able to replace these with MSBuild files which in turn build the C# projects belonging to the specific product. I guess the most troubling part is the examination of the repository for tags which have not been processed yet - i.e. searching the tags and comparing them to a project's directory structure on the network share. I have no idea how to do that in any of the build tools (NAnt, MSBuild). Could you please provide me with some pointers on how to approach this task as a whole and in detail as well? I do not care if I use NAnt, MSBuild, or both. I am aware that this might be rather complex, but every idea and NAnt/MSBuild snippet will be a great help. Thanks in advance.

  Dear Members, Scholars. As it may seem obvious I am not armed with Objective C knowledge. Levering on other more simple computer languages I am trying to set a dynamic name for a list of buttons generated by a simple loop (as the following code suggest). Simply putting it, I would like to have several UIButtons generated dynamically (within a loop) naming them dynamically, as well as other related functions. button1,button2,button3 etc..   Hello all, I'm sure that this question has been asked somewhere before, as the habtm relationship seems to be very confusing. I have two models, users and promotions. The idea is that a promotion can have many users, and a user can have many promotions. class User < ActiveRecord::Base has_and_belongs_to_many :promotions end class Promotion < ActiveRecord::Base has_and_belongs_to_many :users end I also have a promotions_users table/model, with no id of its own. It references user_id and promotions_id class PromotionsUsers < ActiveRecord::Base end So, how do I add a user to a promotion? I've tried something like this: user = User.find(params[:id]) promotion = Promotion.find(params[:promo_id]) promo = user.promotions.new(promo) This results in the following error: NoMethodError: undefined method `stringify_keys!' for #<Promotion:0x10514d420> If I try this line instead: promo= user.promotions.new(promo.id) I get this error: TypeError: can't dup Fixnum I'm sure that there is a very easy solution to my problem, and I'm just not searching for the solution the right way. • simple document server built over Apache HTTP server

  Hi, I want to build a simple document server. The requirement for now is : provide a hierarchical directory structure for placing documents (like pdfs, doc files) that is accessible through a browser, and provide the facility to search for documents by name and then be able to download them from server. Right now, placing documents can be done manually (directly place the files into some designated directory). I can do the hierarchical structure part of the problem by adding some configs to Apache's httpd.conf file. Basically I create a root directory for documents and then give an alias to this directory in httpd.conf file. That way, I can browse the directory structure in my browser and also download files placed there. I can provide more detail on this if needed. However, it is the searching documents by name part that I am not able to get to a clear solution yet. I have a few ideas like integrating Lucene with Apache server, or maybe using CouchDb, but I am not very sure of all the details to solve this problem. Could anyone suggest some clear approach as to how to solve this part ?

  I'm writing my first python program to manage users in Atlassian On Demand using their RESTful API. I call the users/search?username= API to retrieve lists of users, which returns JSON. • Java-Maven: How to add manually a library to the maven repository?

  I'm trying to generate a jasperReport, but I receive this: net.sf.jasperreports.engine.util.JRFontNotFoundException: Font 'Times New Roman' is not available to the JVM. See the Javadoc for more details. After searching on the net, I found that I need to add a jar to the classpath with the font. So, I create a jar file with the ttf files and now I want to add this as a dependency to my pom file. So: I installed the file : mvn install:install-file -Dfile=tf.jar -DgroupId=tf -DartifactId=tf -Dversion=1.0.0 -Dpackaging=jar and in my pom, I added these lines: <dependency> <groupId>tf</groupId> <artifactId>tf</artifactId> <version>1.0.0</version> </dependency> but I receive this: Dependency 'tf:tf:1.0.0' not found less I checked the repository folder and the jar file is there, in ... tf\tf\1.0.0\ What I'm doing wrong?
