• Help debugging Apache, Passenger and Rails problem

  We have an environment running that uses Apache, Passenger and rails. The system is handling most request normally, yet certain requests do not make it to the rails application. For instance, a request to /books is successful, but /books/1 hits apache and passenger, but does not even make it to rails. We set the apache log level to debug and the passenger log level to 3 so that we could monitor all incoming requests. We could see each request coming through and even the /books/1 request is being handled by passenger. But it never gets to rails. Is there any way to determine where the request goes between Passenger and rails or where debugging information might live? Has anyone ever seen any problems with passenger spawning or queuing? We have spawning set to conservative. Also, we have had some permission/ownership problems in the past, so I am not ruling this out yet. Thanks in advance

• How can I access the value of a checkbox without a postback?

  I have a radgrid controlling access to an application for users. There are two columns, a 'name' column and a checkbox 'access' column representing their current access permission. the checkboxes are populated from a database. I would like the to change the checkboxes to grant or deny access to the users I specify. Since there are alot of users I would like to make multiple changes and use a submit button to write the changes to the database. I do not want to postback with each checkbox change and wait for the page to "blink". My problem is that with the checkbox postback disabled, when I click submit, the value of the checkboxes are not registering the changes I make. I need a way to access the current client-side state of the checkbox or some workaround to accomplish this. Thanks in advance!

• creating multiple users for a c#.net winform application using sql server express

  i have a single sql database in sql server express. i have a login MAINLOGIN, for this database. i want insertion of data in this database through multiple users, U1,U2,U3, each having different userids & passwords. These users would be created by MAINLOGIN , manually or via the winform application. So while creating MAINLOGIN , i would give him permission to further create logins. For this what should i do? i cannot create MULTIPLE users, because for one database, only one user can be created under one login. so should i create multiple logins, L1,L2,L3, then map, U1, U2, U3 to them. Or, is there a better way to do this? like application roles etc. i dont want to use windows authentication. because if i know the system password, then i could simply connect sql via the application and insert wrong data.

• Sending mails via Mutt and Gmail: Duplicates

  I'm trying to setup mutt wiht gmail for the first time. It seems to work pretty well, however when I send a mail from Mutt i appears twice in Gmail's sent folder. • Misc. Naming: Can I place underscores instead of camel casing in modern languages?

  Hi! I would like to ask some kind of permission (I hope that doesn't sound strange) from the people who have influence on the naming conventions in modern languages like F#, Scala, etc. My problem is - I just can't read camelCased code and wish I could write underscored_names at least in my internal implementations (not in API interface). This applies to just everything - local var names, method names, params.. (Not class names I think) It seems that now the camel-casing is preferred for example for the names of object methods, but could that be not the only way? What would you say; Can I go with underscored names in languages like I mentioned (F#, Scala)?

• capistrano deployment with use_sudo=true - permissions problem

  i am trying to do a deployment with capistrano to newly installed Ubuntu server i am deploying to directory /var/www, owned by root, so i need to set use_sudo to true while i execute commands with run "#{try_sudo} command" without problem, svn checkout doesn't work with sudo prefix i try set :deploy_via, :export and it throws Can't make directory '/var/www/pr_name/releases/20091217171253': Permission denied during checkout i imagine adding "try_sudo" prefix to "svn export" would help, but where can i edit the one it uses in deploy_via? -- if on other hand i don't use use_sudo, and set /var/www/ directory ownership to myuser, i still cannot deploy - some of my deployment commands set folders ownership to apache user www-data and then i get something like: changing ownership of `/var/www/pr_name/current/specificdirectory': Operation not permitted which, if i understand correctly, has to be done with sudo

  Hi all, What's the UNC path to a folder on my local computer, and how can I access it? I have tried: 1. Security for the folder -- set to Everyone Full Control (for now!) 2. Sharing permissions -- set to Everyone Full Control (for now!) I can see the folder in \, but can't go in ( is not accessible.) Error message: "You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access pernmissions.   I have an ASP.NET web site hosted at HostMySite.com and they recently changed the shared accounts to run in medium trust. In my web site I query my Blogger account and get blog posts to display on my web site. I am using Google.GData.Client v1.4.0.2 The retrieval works locally (and worked until medium trust was invoked at the ISP).   I'm getting the following error while uploading a zip archive. Warning: ZipArchive::extractTo(C:\xampplite\htdocs\testsite/wp-content/themes/mytheme//styles\mytheme/Thumbs.db) [ziparchive.extractto]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in C:\xampplite\htdocs\testsite\wp-content\themes\mythem\uploader.php on line 17 The thing I can't quite figure is that I don't see a thumbs.db file in either the zip archive or the destination folder that was created (the upload still processes, I just get these errors). • Practicing buffer overflow attack in Ubuntu

  I am trying to learn to use buffer overflow attack in Ubuntu. Unfortunately, I cannot turn off Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR) feature in this OS, which is turned on by default. I have tried some work around found in some fedora books: echo "0" > /proc/sys/kernel/randomize_va_space but for some reason the protection's still there. Please give me some suggestions. Thanks. [edit]Actually the above command was not successful, it said "Permission Denied", even with sudo. How can I fix that? [adding] I kept on getting segmetation fault error when it shows an address in stack. Is it related to non-executable stack in ubuntu :(?

• Facebook Graph API shows different results in me/home

  Hi, When I do a GET with my browser (already logged-in at Facebook): https://graph.facebook.com/me/home?access_token={token} the results are different than doing the same via a FB app using Facebook C# SDK. Specifically, what the API is not returning are feeds posted by other applications. Why can be this happening? Can't an application retrieve updates from other applications even if it has the read_stream permission? I even requested for additional permissions: read_stream,user_activities,friends_activities,friends_likes,user_likes,read_requests but nothing has changed. What I need is to get ALL and the same stories an user would see at his FB news feed.

• System.Data.DataException thrown when launching application after install

  I currently have a (Visual Studio 2008) installer that has a 'Primary output...' custom action under 'Install' with 'InstallerClass' set to false. During the install I get a System.Data.DataException. When I run the debugger I am getting an exception being thrown from a bit of database access code that runs when the application starts. The database access is using Windows Authentication and works correctly when the application is started manually. Is this something to do with permission settings not allowing db access when launched from the installer? (I'm out of ideas)

• Postfix auto create Maildir

  I've been beating my head against a wall for a while now on this one. Basically, here is the rundown: Our MX record points to a frontend SMTP server, which contains aliases for actually routing the mail. No alias, no access to the backend storage server, which is what our clients connect to. I'm upgrading the backend email server. Currently, a user is created for every email user on the server, which creates the mailbox. On the new server, everything autheticates through PAM to an LDAP server (all of which is working properly). My goal is to get Postfix to create the Maildir directory for the user automatically. This works fine when I have the /home directory with 777 permissions, but for obvious reasons, this should be avoided. I would like to do this with 775 permissions on /home with a group owner of whatever user Postfix is running as, but I can't seem to figure out what user to use. With the 777 permissions, the /home/$user/Maildir directory is created on message delivery. Does anybody know how I can do this without 777 permissions? The system I am working on is a 64-bit Debian Lenny 5.07 install. Any advice would be appreciated.

• Problem with Authentication in sharepoint using active directory

  I am currently using windows server 2008 machine. I have active directory and sharepoint setup on the machine. I have a user 'A' in the active directory and i have given the user read permissions to my site. The problem i now face is that, if i log in as user 'A' the site simply shows "error:access denied". This problem goes away if i put 'A' as a site collection administrator, however that is not what i want. I just want 'A' to be a visitor that can browse the site. I also tried granting 'read' permission to my site for 'A' but that still gives me the access denied message. Thank you for your time.

• ClickOnce deployment with VS2008 - prerequisites not installing on Windows 7 (only)

  I have a VS2008 clickonce application with a custom prerequiste, which I install with the bootstrapper. When deployed online, the prerequisite is downloaded and installed fine. No problems. When deployed via CD to a Windows XP machine, also fine as above. No problems. However, when deployed via CD to a Windows 7 machine: the prerequisite is downloaded - good then the user is asked for permission to the run the file - good then the installation of the prerequiste is just SKIPPED - bad and the ClickOnce application installation begins without the prerequisite - bad Has anyone encountered this weird behaviour? I cannot find a solution anywhere.

  Hi, I've got some code that does an ajax request using jQuery, and handles success and error conditions. On an error, I want to find out what the URL I called was, so I can log it. This information appears to be contained in the XMLHttpRequest.channel, but firefox is complaining about accessing this - Permission denied for <http://localhost:8081> to get property XMLHttpRequest.channel Any ideas how I can determine the URL associated with an XMLHttpRequest? • Can sendmail be configured to discard routed email that has been rejected by the next hop?

  Background: We have a handful of hosts (running sendmail) acting as the MXs for a few domains each. Each domain is handled via the sendmail/cf /etc/mail/virtusertable, with a set of known recipients and a catch-all reject rule. Mail to postmaster on each host is aliased to root, and root is aliased to root+<host>@ourdomain.com. The MX for ourdomain.com is Google Apps, and [email protected] is a simple group that forwards to the admins. Google Apps will reject some emails at the SMTP stage, usually because of illegal attachments (instead of accepting them and filing them as spam). Problem: Given a particular spam email sent to a domain in a virtusertable entry: If the recipient address rejects the mail, then sendmail will try and send a DSN to the sender. If that sender also rejects the mail (because it's a falsified sender, and the MX for the sender rejects the mail as spam), then sendmail sends a DSN to the postmaster. The routing detailed above takes place, and...Google Apps rejects the mail as well. sendmail now gives up with a "savemail panic", and leaves the mail in the queue forever. Our mail queue fills up with garbage Is there any way I can get sendmail to discard messages that have been rejected by the next virtusertable hop (i.e. after step 1 in the Problem description)? Or does anyone have any other solutions to this?

• Bitmap Crashing upon going back and re-entering Activity

  Hello, I'm not sure what is causing this...I have two Activities, first has a button that goes to the second. The second creates a Bitmap object, assigns it a picture from the sdcard and loads it into an ImageView. Problem is when I go into the second Activity, then press the back button, and then go back into the second Activity, it crashes. I have no clue why. I did an extensive google search but to no avail. I can post the source code if you want. Please let me know. Thanks in advance! I got this from the LogCat: "E/dalvikvm( 4869): Unable to open stack trace file '/data/anr/traces.txt': Permission denied" I'm not sure how to get the stack trace.

• Reading email from Emacs VM using a secure server (Gmail)

One subject of the question is use of the program stunnel with program View Mail (run within Emacs) on a PC running Microsoft Windows, in order to read email from a server that requires use of TSL/SSL (Gmail). The platform under discussion is MS Windows. • Exchange emails not delivering for one user

  We have an Exchange infrastructure going through a migration from 2003 SP2 (call it ExOld) to 2010 (ExNew). All users are now on the new server, but mail is still being directed to ExOld until testing is complete. ExNew sends emails directly to the internet. For one particular user, emails don't seem to be being reliably delivered, but the odd thing is that it's not all emails. I can see external emails in his inbox. If I send an internal email it works fine. If I send an email from Gmail to him it doesn't get through. If I telnet from outside to ExOld I can send an email to him. If I telnet from outside to ExNew I can send an email to him.   am using django.0.97 version i have model called profile in that i have few fields eg like name ,email...ects and it's backend also ready..i.e database . and all users profile is created...i have given all permission to all users. when i login ,click on profile..i able to see list of all user name thr when i click on it ,it's goin to model page where i can edit the user profile..instead of that i want to navigate to a template when i can display the user details ,i have set the URl for it so that when url of that type request comes it should call a view from view it will call my template to display user details,.....the problem is it's not calling my view.... i think my problem is brief....if any information still required ?? pls ask me....and help me
