  • Rails: has_many association with a table in another database and without foreign key

    Here is my situation. I have model called Account. An account can have one or more contracts. The problem is that i'm dealing with a legacy application and each account's contracts are stored in a different database. Example: Account 1's contract are in account1_db.contracts. Account 2's contract are in account2_db.contracts. The database name is a field stored in accounts table. How can i make rails association work with this? This is a legacy PHP application and i simply can't change it to store everything in one table. I need to make it work somehow. I tried this, but it didn't worked: has_many :contracts, :conditions => [lambda{ Contract.set_table_name(self.database + '.contracts'); return '1' }] Any ideas?

    I have a contracts table: contractId date price partId 1 20120121 10 1 2 20110130 9 1 3 20130101 15 2 4 20110101 20 2 The contract with greatest date being the active contract (don't blame me, I blame infor for creating xpps) I need to create query to see only active contracts (one contract per part, the contract with highest date). So the result of the query should be like this: contractId date price partId 1 20120121 10 1 3 20130101 15 2 I am out of ideas here, I tried self joining the table, I tried aggregation functions, but I can't figure it out. If anyone would have any idea, please share them with me..

  • Static footer, with attached and scaling overlap

    I have been asked by a client to create a site where the content area overlaps the footer. However they also want the footer to be attached to the bottom of the viewport, which I've done, but it seems that I can't find a good way to vertically stretch the content to maintain the overlap should the browser be resized. I've created a diagram to help explain, http://www.squaresphere.co.uk/images/footer-diagram.png So ideally I need a way of calculating the height of the content and stretching the content div if content_length viewport.height, but keep a min-height if content_length < viewport.height A solution using html+css would be fantastic, but I'm starting to think that I'm going to have to do some funky jQuery onviewportresize or something Any suggestions would be awesome, thanks!

    What's the cleanest way to constrain a SQL table to allow it to have no more than one row? This related question discusses why such a table might exist, but not how the constraint should be implemented. So far I have only found hacks involving a unique key column that is constrained to have a specific value, e.g. ALWAYS_0 TINYINT NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY DEFAULT (0) CONSTRAINT CHECK_ALWAYS_0 CHECK (ALWAYS_0 = 0). I am guessing there is probably a cleaner way to do it. The ideal solution would be portable SQL, but a solution specific to MS SQL Server or postgres would also be useful

The hand is represented by an integer (32 bits == 32 cards): create table pref_hand ( id varchar(32) references pref_users, hand integer not NULL check (hand > 0), stamp timestamp default current_timestamp ); As the players are playing constantly and that data isn't important (just a gimmick to be displayed at player profile pages) and I don't want my database to grow too quickly, I'd like to keep only up to 10 records per player id. So I'm trying to declare this PL/PgSQL procedure: create or replace function pref_update_game(_id varchar, _hand integer) returns void as $BODY$ begin delete from pref_hand offset 10 where id=_id order by stamp; insert into pref_hand (id, hand) values (_id, _hand); end; $BODY$ language plpgsql; but unfortunately this fails with: ERROR: syntax error at or near "offset" because delete doesn't support offset.   • Cakephp with underscore table ignores model

    Hi, I have one table metrics and another table metric_levels. In the Metric model I have $hasMany = 'MetricLevels' but anything inside the MetricLevels model is totally ignored. But, if I rename the model to 'Metric' and have $useTable = 'metric_levels' it works fine. I've tried all combinations, but none seem to work. I've tried plurals, singulars, underscores, nothing seems to work. The model is simply ignored and it just takes the value from the database. Any help is appreciated.

    i've used a DataList (dlparent) control for one of my page. Inside that datalist is another Datalist (dlchild) that is being populated by itemdatabound event of the parent datalist. i've used css with dlchild. Databinding is ok and the required output shows great with mozilla and IE but not in netscape, safari and google chrome. dlchild is not showing. only item in dlparent appears.   • Changing Color with LinearLayout and TextView in Java (Android)

    I'm a relatively new Android developer and I noticed what seems like an oddity to me that I'm hoping someone can explain. I have LinearLayout ll. This line of code fails for me when executed: ll.setBackgroundColor(R.color.white); However this line of code works: ll.setBackgroundResource(R.color.white); I assume its simply because I have white defined in my resources. However, I've also tried passing 0xFFFFFF in setBackgroundColor() and that doesn't work either. Similarly with my TextView text this line of code fails when executed: text.setTextColor(R.color.white); I can see my TextView so I know I initialized it correctly (like my LinearLayout which I can also see). So I guess my question boils down to: How do I properly use LinearLayout.setBackgroundColor() and TextView.setTextColor() ? Thanks a ton in advance. I've read through the docs and tried to find information online via googling and haven't come up with anything.

  • Table alias -- Unkown column in field list

    Hi all, I have a sql query which is executing a LEFT JOIN on 2 tables in which some of the columns are ambiguous. I can prefix the joined tables but when I try to prefix one of the columns from the table in the FROM clause, it tells me Unknown column. I even tried giving that table an alias like so ...From points AS p and using "p" to prefix the tables but that didn't work either. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong.   • In MYSQL is it better to have one big table or many smaller tables

    Hi All, I am making a database of my client's customers to send email promotions to. The database will include all about 12 of my clients and each of them has an average of 2100 customers. I was wondering if it would be better to have a table in the db for each one of my clients that contains a list of their customers or if I should just make one big table...   • Margically appearing margin in footer. Could use some fresh eye's on this.

    Hi chaps! Got a nearly finished coded comp here: http://clients.pixelbleed.net/biodesign/ I realize it's not completely valid, what with my nesting of li's and ul's within A tags. Unfortunately that's the way it has to be. My issue is with the very bottom of the footer. It has a space showing the body's background color beneath it. Tried a number of things and this space after the black link bar on the very bottom is a resistant little bugger. Ideally the black box on the bottom should rest against the very base of the view-port, at least when the content is sufficiently long--which it is in this case. If someone would like to take a quick peak at my source and give me some ideas I'd be very grateful. The CSS can be found here: http://clients.pixelbleed.net/biodesign/css/core.css And, yes, I've tried removing the height:100%. Makes no difference it seems. I do believe the issue to be with the footer, as when I remove these Div's the content rests as it should. Just don't see anything in my CSS to cause the margin/spacing issue though. Thanks so much.

    Hello everyone, I want to count the number of accounts from the resulting table generated from this code. This way, I know how many people liked blue at one time. Select Distinct PEOPLE.FullName, PEOPLE.FavColor From PEOPLE Where FavColor='Blue' Lets say this is a history accounting of what people said their favorite color when they were asked so there may be multiple records of the same full name if asked again at a much later time; hence the distinct. The code I used may not be reusable in your answer so feel free to use what you think can work. I am sure I found a possible solution to my problem using declare and if statements but I lost that page... so I am left with no solution. However, I think there is a way to do it without using conditionals which is what I am asking and rather have. Thanks. Edit: My question is: From the code above, is there a way to count the number of accounts in the resulting table?

  • Iframe problem with IE6 & IE7

    Hi all, I'm experiencing difficulties getting my iframe to display correctly in IE6 & IE7. www.e-g-t.nl I think IE has the height of the iframe stretched to far beyond the 400px height I set it to be, and the content is vertically centered. I'm not an expert at css or html for that matter and don't seem to get it right. In IE8 though, the problem doesn't seem to exist. Any help on this is much appreciated!

  • Make text in a <div> wrap around a child element.

    In Word you can place an image on a page and have the text flow nicely around it. I was wondering how far one can get towards this using CSS, noting that is has to work in IE6. I already have something sort of close using float, but the floated child-element still 'blocks' text above it. So it partially wraps. Is it possible to put a child div at some arbitrary position in the parent, and have text flow around it freely? The actual use-case here is to put illustrations inside the main content , where each illustration is implemented inside a child . I repeat, it has to work on IE6. And I don't want to get too involved in browser-specific hacks... floating the child at least works on IE6 with no tweaking.     I have the following situation I have a couple of table rows within a table eg <tr><td>One</td></tr> <tr><td>Two</td></tr> <tr><td>Three</td></tr> <tr><td>Four</td></tr> <tr><td>Five</td></tr> Say all of them are invisible Then I have a button to make them visible one by one, so if row 1 is invisible and I press the button then row 1 should be visible, if I press it again it sees that row 1 is already visible then it makes row 2 visible and so it goes on and on and on. How can I do this in Jquery so that jquery can accomplish this task for me. Is it possible?

    Can anyone tell me how to show animated progress bar while the data from an Excel sheet to a SQL database table is being transfered? I have a form in .aspx page. In that form, there is one FileUpload control that uploads an Excel file. While uploading that file and saving it on the server at the same time I'm transferring the data from the Excel sheet to a SQL table. During this transfer, I want to show a ProgressBar and after transferring all data it will be removed automatically.. Is there something I can do to achieve this?

    I have 3 mysql tables. companies with company_id and company_name products with product_id and company_id names with product_id, product_name and other info about the product I'm trying to output the product_name and the company_name in one query for a given product_id. Basically I need information from the names and companies tables and the link between them is the products table. How do I do a join that needs to "bounce" off a third table?     Hi, I would like to go through a table and look for a word, if that word appears, i would like to click on a radio button in the same row, but not the same column, then stop the loop.   • Reload table view in real time

    The app receives a UILocalNotification, but if the user is at the UITableViewController at the fire time, the table view (containing the scheduled notifications) does not reload. The user has to get out of that view and load the view again so that the cells are loaded and, as the notification was already fired, it will not be displayed on any cell of that table view. Problem is: If the user touches the specific tableView cell that contained the notification that just fired, the app crashes, cause the notification is not there anymore. I've implemented the - (void)reloadData in every place possible, and it still doesn't load in real time. What would be a better solution for this? Other detail, how can I push a specific view after the notification is displayed (when the user slides the app icon when the phone is locked)? Any help will be truly appreciated, since theres are the last details remaining to publish my first App.
