  hi, I'm using magento 1.4.0 and when I try to get to magento connect and download a plugin the page will say Error: Please check for sufficient write file permissions Your Magento folder does not have sufficient write permissions, which this web based downloader requires. If you wish to proceed downloading Magento packages online, please set all Magento folders to have writable permission for the web server user (example: apache) and press the "Refresh" button to try again. does anyone know how I can fix this problem, thanks Update: the plugin I'm trying to use is MagentoPycho light box so I unpacked the folder into the app/code/local but it still doesn't show in the admin area

• At most how many customized P3 attributes could be added into Agile?

  I have one customer/Oracle Partner Consultant asking me such question: how many customized attributes can be allowed to add to Agile's subclass Page Three? I never did research against this because Agile User Guide never says this and theoretically Agile supports unlimited amount of customized attributes, unless the browser itself cannot handle them in allocated memory. However my customers says when to add almost 1000 attributes, the browser (Web Client) will not show any Page Three attributes, including all the out-of-box attributes. Let's see why. Analysis It is horrible to add 1000 attributes manually. Let's do it by a batch SQL like below to add them to Item's subclass Page Three tab. Performance Below two screenshot are jvm heap usage from before-SQL and after-SQL. We can see there is no big memory gap between two cases. So definitely there is no performance impact to Agile Application Server unless you have more than 1000 attributes for EACH of your dozens of  subclasses. And for client, 1000 attributes should not impact the browser's performance because in HTML we only use dt and dd for each attribute's pair: label and value. It is quite lightweight.

  Ever since I have installed 12.04 (clean install not an upgrade), i have been having a drop in the Internet connection. The drop in the connection can be anything from 15 seconds to about 3 mins, and then the connection comes back. This behaviour happens while I am actively browsing the Internet, or if I wake up the computer and open Firefox (sometimes I have connection and sometimes I don't) . Please note that when the internet connection is on, it is not slow (as speedtest.net results show) In the beginning, I thought it was a problem with the driver r8169 for my RTL8111/8168B Ethernet card, so I downloaded the r8168 from Realtek website, followed the detailed instructions (blacklisted r8169, changed the file to '.bsh' ...), but still the same problem persisted. So I switched to a wireless connection, and I got the same problem with internet connection dropping randomly. Any ideas? • Scaling and new coordinates based off screen resolution

  I'm trying to deal with different resolutions on Android devices. Say I have a sprite at X,Y and dimensions W,H. I understand how to properly scale the width and heigh dimensions depending on the screen size, but I am not sure how to properly reposition this sprite so that it exists in the same area that it should. If I simply resize the width and heigh and keep X,Y at the same coordinates, things don't scale well. How do I properly reposition? Multiply the coordinates by the scale as well?

Trying to be best in specialisation area on High Availability (RAC, Exadata, DataGuard) is nice, but it is extra nice to also proof I still have more then enough hands on experience to work on the more 'regular' DBA tasks. Practicing the complete DBA curriculum for OCP/OCM is something I recommend everyone to do since this is really helps you to stay on top, hands on !   Hi I want to add some options to my magento, lets say i print on clothing, a customer buys some t-shirts, shirts and jackets from me, it totals to £60+ VAT on the checkout area where i signup and not before I need to add an option where I can add a text box and upload option, can i do this? I ideally then want to add some pricing options if the user has chosen to add some branding to a product or multiple products e.g. if the branding was on the top right of the shirt it will cost £5.00, if on the back it costs £7.00 etc all if possible to be done via the admincp. I also want an option so when they upload their logo for the first time they are charged a one off charge, like a setup fee but If the customer has allready sent in there logo then no charge applies. thanks Graham

• Google Places good rank on wrong keyword/category

  I have noticed that several people find my website by searching for a completely unrelated term. This has to do with the fact that I have registered the company on Google Places with the keyword/category "webb-hotell", which in Swedish means web-hosting. If you are Swedish you may suggest using "webbhotell" instead. But the thing is that Google doesn't consider that a category, thus I get no rank at all for that keyword. It seems like I'm getting hits from people searching hotels in my area. If I type "hotel [my location]" I get a really high rank. It's not like I want people to end up on my site if they want a hotel, but it's Google's fault. My question is: What can I do about it? P.S: Can someone create the tag "google-places" for me?

  Their site is www.orlandocodecamp.comThis year's camp was held at Seminole State College.It was well worth it.. Took a chance at going.. by getting up at 5am and driving from Jax to Sanford for 2+hr..Run into some old friends and bunch of new ones. Coders are not really good at networking.. but they sure did show up.. attendance was solid 500+ geeks and some sessions were standing room only. MVP John Papa had the room packed out on his every session. Really enjoyed great and inspiring WP7 presentations by MVP Atley Hunter from Canada.. And of course the MVP legend Joe Healy was everywhere encouraging and promoting cool stuff, hopefully we'll get him back to present at JaxDUG and/or bring back Microsoft workshops to Jax area.

• Creating Hosting Accounts in WHM on a Single IP

  I've just purchased a VPS with the hope of transferring multiple shared hosting accounts onto it. The problem is that I've only got 2 IP addresses with my VPS. I can create an account and assign it an IP address, but once I've done this once, I can't do it again. (1 IP address is my main root WHM IP, the other is my new hosting account IP). Can I create multiple hosting accounts and use the same IP? How would I manage multiple hosting accounts in this way? The domain for this hosting account has been purchased by the client, and they hold it (can't transfer for 60 days), so I need to adjust the DNS settings to redirect to my newly created hosting area - how can I do this without a dedicated IP address?

  A picture is worth a thousand words... so does anyone know how to fix this font blurriness in Firefox? (You'll need to right-click the picture below go to View Image to view it full-size; it's too small to see anything here.) Note: My other applications (and the Firefox non-client area, as you can see in the screen) are completely fine, so obviously going to System-Appearance and changing the font settings isn't fixing the situation. Edit: Not letting web pages to use their own fonts also doesn't help: See how the upper one is still sharper? Also, Firefox's own menu bar doesn't render the same way as the page content (menu bar below, page content above). They're both Segoe UI:

• How do I list installed software with the installed size?

  I would like to have a list the installed software on my machine, with the disk space consumed by them alongside. I would prefer to be able to order by largest/smallest, but that is not a necessity. I am the sort of person who will install software to try it, and never clean up after myself. As a result, my 7GB (Windows and my Data are on separate partitions, as well as a swap area) Ubuntu 11.04 partition is suffering, and has started regularly showing warning messages. I have cleaned my browser cache, as well as everything under Package Cleaner in Ubuntu Tweak, and am left with 149.81 MB off free space.

• Adding and accessing custom sections in your C# App.config

  So I recently thought I’d try using the app.config file to specify some data for my application (such as URLs) rather than hard-coding it into my app, which would require a recompile and redeploy of my app if one of our URLs changed.  By using the app.config it allows a user to just open up the .config file that sits beside their .exe file and edit the URLs right there and then re-run the app; no recompiling, no redeployment necessary. I spent a good few hours fighting with the app.config and looking at examples on Google before I was able to get things to work properly.  Most of the examples I found showed you how to pull a value from the app.config if you knew the specific key of the element you wanted to retrieve, but it took me a while to find a way to simply loop through all elements in a section, so I thought I would share my solutions here.   Simple and Easy The easiest way to use the app.config is to use the built-in types, such as NameValueSectionHandler.  For example, if we just wanted to add a list of database server urls to use in my app, we could do this in the app.config file like so: 1: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> 2: <configuration> 3: <configSections> 4: <section name="ConnectionManagerDatabaseServers" type="System.Configuration.NameValueSectionHandler" /> 5: </configSections> 6: <startup> 7: <supportedRuntime version="v4.0" sku=".NETFramework,Version=v4.5" /> 8: </startup> 9: <ConnectionManagerDatabaseServers> 10: <add key="localhost" value="localhost" /> 11: <add key="Dev" value="Dev.MyDomain.local" /> 12: <add key="Test" value="Test.MyDomain.local" /> 13: <add key="Live" value="Prod.MyDomain.com" /> 14: </ConnectionManagerDatabaseServers> 15: </configuration>   And then you can access these values in code like so: 1: string devUrl = string.Empty; 2: var connectionManagerDatabaseServers = ConfigurationManager.GetSection("ConnectionManagerDatabaseServers") as NameValueCollection; 3: if (connectionManagerDatabaseServers != null) 4: { 5: devUrl = connectionManagerDatabaseServers["Dev"].ToString(); 6: }   Sometimes though you don’t know what the keys are going to be and you just want to grab all of the values in that ConnectionManagerDatabaseServers section.  In that case you can get them all like this: 1: // Grab the Environments listed in the App.config and add them to our list. 2: var connectionManagerDatabaseServers = ConfigurationManager.GetSection("ConnectionManagerDatabaseServers") as NameValueCollection; 3: if (connectionManagerDatabaseServers != null) 4: { 5: foreach (var serverKey in connectionManagerDatabaseServers.AllKeys) 6: { 7: string serverValue = connectionManagerDatabaseServers.GetValues(serverKey).FirstOrDefault(); 8: AddDatabaseServer(serverValue); 9: } 10: }   And here we just assume that the AddDatabaseServer() function adds the given string to some list of strings.  So this works great, but what about when we want to bring in more values than just a single string (or technically you could use this to bring in 2 strings, where the “key” could be the other string you want to store; for example, we could have stored the value of the Key as the user-friendly name of the url).   More Advanced (and more complicated) So if you want to bring in more information than a string or two per object in the section, then you can no longer simply use the built-in System.Configuration.NameValueSectionHandler type provided for us.  Instead you have to build your own types.  Here let’s assume that we again want to configure a set of addresses (i.e. urls), but we want to specify some extra info with them, such as the user-friendly name, if they require SSL or not, and a list of security groups that are allowed to save changes made to these endpoints. The last class defined is the actual meat of our elements.  It inherits from ConfigurationElement and specifies the properties of the element (which can then be set in the xml of the App.config).  The “ConfigurationProperty” attribute on each of the properties tells what we expect the name of the property to correspond to in each element in the app.config, as well as some additional information such as if that property is required and what it’s default value should be. • Video Recorder Tool (Screencast) that is up to date

  I was looking at this post How to create a screencast? which mentions some of the Video Recorders (Screencast) that I was looking for but some of them are more than 8 months old with not one single update made to them. Am looking for a Screencast that is at least update recently and that I know that if I keep using it I could count on it being updated. The most important part is video recording but sound is good too. Maybe a windows area, mouse tracking, etc.. But it needs to be up to date and not abandoned or very old. And of course that works in 11.10 and has in mind to work in 12.04.
