  Just like every other modern application, Skype also records all the communications we exchange using it. It records instant messages, calls, file transfers, SMS, etc. and makes it easy to view using the Conversation tab. If you ever feel like getting rid of these history information, then you need to delete them. Skype provides a single click option to clear all the history from you account, but the feature is buried deep under options menu.Really deep!. To clear history follow the menu Tools –> Options, switch to Privacy Settings tab available on the left side, click on Show advanced options button and finally hit the button Clear history. Ah!   I am trying to make my first app for sale, I would like to ask some questions for those who have already sold their software: Have you used a Framework/Lib whose LGPL License? if yes, what are the impressions of your customers? for example, if your customers/ competitors from the market reveal technology/secrets that you used in your solution (as LGPL requires that you make a Dynamic Link (.DLL) for your libs and you clearly tell the use of a Lib/Framework). Full story: For my project, I used a framework LGPL/commercial (Dual License) the second one it was too expensive (about 3000 USD) which pushed me to use LGPL however I still concerned. That is why I ask for advise and especially motivations.

I am working with a team to select a new content management system for a large membership organization (around 25,000 members). The organization has revenue so I'm not looking for a dirt cheap solution. The site currently uses ASI iMIS which is based on ColdFusion. It's difficult to work with and not flexible for our needs. What other possible alternatives to ASI iMIS are there? Ideally the solution would have some sort of support from the vendor.   My concern is about SEO. Now let me explain the scenario. I am making a 3 languages website. The development is alright, but I was targeting local customers with one domain, and international (english version) with another. Eg: Local http://www.minhalojadesapatos.com.br (this is not the real website, just example!) Other http://www.myshoesstore.com.br Both domain point to exactly the same hosting and content, but when user comes through local domain, default language is set to portuguese, otherwise, default is english. Language handling on backend uses PHP Sessions and cookies, so with just a click users can change content language. How to avoid being SEO-penalised in this context? (yeah, I was hungry when focusing market for choosing two domains but the activity really needs that, it is a travel agency).

My question is how do these developers keep shifting to new technology, without fearing the loss of experience they already have about a particular technology. I am trying to shift to Java from PHP and market considers this as non-relevant experience. How do these guys do it without losing the pay and not being considered a fresher in a particular technology.

  In my university, our total required weekly attendance (for lectures and tutorials/similar) is about 12 hours. It was like that in the first year, and then everything required extremely little effort - I believe that if I invested as much efforts as someone who is studying for medicine or law, I could have learnt everything for 1-2 months - if not less! Now I'm second year and it doesn't look like it's going to be too different. This concerns me about the people who study in Oxford, Cambridge or Imperial College. It would be weird if they study that little, and it would be very concerning if they do study very hard, because this would mean that by the end of the year, their first year students will be better than our average third year student. Which is bad news for me, given that I share the market with them. I know the question can't have an absolutely accurate answer, but it can still be answered quite definitely, and it's relevant to many people.

• New Dash features and Online accounts missing after 12.04 to 12.10 upgrade

  I performed upgrade to 12.10 from 12.04 using update-manager. Unfortunately, there was some error, because when I came back from the coffee, the screen was black. I opened a terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and killall dpkg, which seemed to be waiting for user input for configuration file update (xdg package , if I remember well). After that, I did a do-release-upgrade, which seemed to work well, because I ended on a graphic session after reboot. The problem is that some 12.10 features are missing, as Online Accounts and Dash new online results. This made me suspicious of missing packages or something like that. Please take a look at upgrade logs and my new dpkg --get-selections output: https://gist.github.com/3919006 dpkg --reconfigure -a didn't solved the problem nor apt-get -f install showed any problem. do-release-upgrade say my system need no news packages (even if I change /etc/lsb-release to 12.04) If someone give me a dpkg --get-selections of a vanilla 12.10 installation, may be I can force system reconfiguration.

  hello, I'm a python & Qt programmer, and my daily job is create small PC GUI programs ship with hardware devices. the problem is, My job is simple, read/write data to device by using serial port(pyserial), display and edit data(PyQt + PyQwt), that's all. although I'm a linux user, my program is running under windows XP, but thanks to PyQt, I can still develop under linux. And I'm always afraid of being replaced by the people cheaper and younger than me in the future. (I'm 26 now.. not too much time for playing..) So I need improve myself, and make me more competitive in the global market, and I like programming, and want coding till the end of my life. any roadmap suggestion?
