  • .Net Dynamically Load DLL

    - by hermiod
    I am trying to write some code that will allow me to dynamically load DLLs into my application, depending on an application setting. The idea is that the database to be accessed is set in the application settings and then this loads the appropriate DLL and assigns it to an instance of an interface for my application to access. This is my code at the moment: Dim SQLDataSource As ICRDataLayer Dim ass As Assembly = Assembly. _ LoadFrom("M:\MyProgs\WebService\DynamicAssemblyLoading\SQLServer\bin\Debug\SQLServer.dll") Dim obj As Object = ass.CreateInstance(GetType(ICRDataLayer).ToString, True) SQLDataSource = DirectCast(obj, ICRDataLayer) MsgBox(SQLDataSource.ModuleName & vbNewLine & SQLDataSource.ModuleDescription) I have my interface (ICRDataLayer) and the SQLServer.dll contains an implementation of this interface. I just want to load the assembly and assign it to the SQLDataSource object. The above code just doesn't work. There are no exceptions thrown, even the Msgbox doesn't appear. I would've expected at least the messagebox appearing with nothing in it, but even this doesn't happen! Is there a way to determine if the loaded assembly implements a specific interface. I tried the below but this also doesn't seem to do anything! For Each loadedType As Type In ass.GetTypes If GetType(ICRDataLayer).IsAssignableFrom(loadedType) Then Dim obj1 As Object = ass.CreateInstance(GetType(ICRDataLayer).ToString, True) SQLDataSource = DirectCast(obj1, ICRDataLayer) End If Next EDIT: New code from Vlad's examples: Module CRDataLayerFactory Sub New() End Sub ' class name is a contract, ' should be the same for all plugins Private Function Create() As ICRDataLayer Return New SQLServer() End Function End Module Above is Module in each DLL, converted from Vlad's C# example. Below is my code to bring in the DLL: Dim SQLDataSource As ICRDataLayer Dim ass As Assembly = Assembly. _ LoadFrom("M:\MyProgs\WebService\DynamicAssemblyLoading\SQLServer\bin\Debug\SQLServer.dll") Dim factory As Object = ass.CreateInstance("CRDataLayerFactory", True) Dim t As Type = factory.GetType Dim method As MethodInfo = t.GetMethod("Create") Dim obj As Object = method.Invoke(factory, Nothing) SQLDataSource = DirectCast(obj, ICRDataLayer) EDIT: Implementation based on Paul Kohler's code Dim file As String For Each file In Directory.GetFiles(baseDir, searchPattern, SearchOption.TopDirectoryOnly) Dim assemblyType As System.Type For Each assemblyType In Assembly.LoadFrom(file).GetTypes Dim s As System.Type() = assemblyType.GetInterfaces For Each ty As System.Type In s If ty.Name.Contains("ICRDataLayer") Then MsgBox(ty.Name) plugin = DirectCast(Activator.CreateInstance(assemblyType), ICRDataLayer) MessageBox.Show(plugin.ModuleName) End If Next I get the following error with this code: Unable to cast object of type 'SQLServer.CRDataSource.SQLServer' to type 'DynamicAssemblyLoading.ICRDataLayer'. The actual DLL is in a different project called SQLServer in the same solution as my implementation code. CRDataSource is a namespace and SQLServer is the actual class name of the DLL. The SQLServer class implements ICRDataLayer, so I don't understand why it wouldn't be able to cast it. Is the naming significant here, I wouldn't have thought it would be.

  • Reading Metadata property of GifBitmapDecoder...why is it null?

    - by David
    How can I read the delay, left and top offset data for each frame of a gif? I've gotten this far. Load the Gif var myGif = new GifBitmapDecoder(uri, BitmapCreateOptions.PreservePixelFormat, BitmapCacheOption.OnLoad); Get a frame var frame = myGif.Frames[i]; From MSDN: Native Image Format Metadata Queries read (ushort)Metadata.GetQuery("/grctlext/Delay"), (ushort)Metadata.GetQuery("/imgdesc/Left"), (ushort)Metadata.GetQuery("/imgdesc/Top") But two things don't work. First the Metadata property of both the gif and the frame are always null, even if I try different animated gif files. Second, the Metadata property of the frame doesn't seem to have a GetQuery method. How do I run these queries, what did I miss? Edit: Here is sample code that gives me null metadata. Using a fresh install of VS2010 Premium, on a fresh WPF application. The image file is the one in the comments. using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.Windows; using System.Windows.Controls; using System.Windows.Data; using System.Windows.Documents; using System.Windows.Input; using System.Windows.Media; using System.Windows.Media.Imaging; using System.Windows.Navigation; using System.Windows.Shapes; namespace WpfApplication1 { /// <summary> /// Interaction logic for MainWindow.xaml /// </summary> public partial class MainWindow : Window { public MainWindow() { InitializeComponent(); var uri = new Uri(@"c:\b-414328-animated_gif_.gif"); var myGif = new GifBitmapDecoder(uri, BitmapCreateOptions.PreservePixelFormat, BitmapCacheOption.OnLoad); var frame = myGif.Frames[0]; Title = ""; Title += "Global Metadata is null: " + (myGif.Metadata == null).ToString(); Title += "; Frame Metadata is null: " + (frame.Metadata == null).ToString(); // Crash due to null metadata //var frameData = (BitmapMetadata)frame.Metadata; //var rate = (ushort)frameData.GetQuery("/grctlext/Delay"); } } }

    I just want to add 1 day to a DateTime. So I wrote: DateTime date = new DateTime(2010, 4, 29, 10, 25, 00); TimeSpan t = new TimeSpan(1, 0, 0, 0); date.Add(t); Console.WriteLine("A day after the day: " + date.ToString()); I tought the result would be: 2010 04 30- 10:25:00 but I'm still getting the initial date. What's wrong?

  • Invalid character in a Base-64 string when Concatenating and Url encoding a string

    - by Rob
    I’m trying to write some encryption code that is passed through a Url. For the sake of the issue I’ve excluded the actual encryption of the data and just shown the code causing the problem. I take a salt value, convert it to a byte array and then convert that to a base64 string. This string I concatenate to another base64 string (which was previously a byte array). These two base64 strings are then Url encoded. Here’s my code... using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.Security.Cryptography; using System.IO; using System.Web; class RHEncryption { private static readonly Encoding ASCII_ENCODING = new System.Text.ASCIIEncoding(); private static readonly string SECRET_KEY = "akey"; private static string md5(string text) { return BitConverter.ToString(new MD5CryptoServiceProvider().ComputeHash(ASCII_ENCODING.GetBytes(text))).Replace("-", "").ToLower(); } public string UrlEncodedData; public RHEncryption() { // encryption object RijndaelManaged aes192 = new RijndaelManaged(); aes192.KeySize = 192; aes192.BlockSize = 192; aes192.Mode = CipherMode.CBC; aes192.Key = ASCII_ENCODING.GetBytes(md5(SECRET_KEY)); aes192.GenerateIV(); // convert Ivector to base64 for sending string base64IV = Convert.ToBase64String(aes192.IV); // salt value string s = "maryhadalittlelamb"; string salt = s.Substring(0, 8); // convert to byte array // and base64 for sending byte[] saltBytes = ASCII_ENCODING.GetBytes(salt.TrimEnd('\0')); string base64Salt = Convert.ToBase64String(saltBytes); //url encode concatenated base64 strings UrlEncodedData = HttpUtility.UrlEncode(base64Salt + base64IV, ASCII_ENCODING); } public string UrlDecodedData() { // decode the url encode string string s = HttpUtility.UrlDecode(UrlEncodedData, ASCII_ENCODING); // convert back from base64 byte[] base64DecodedBytes = null; try { base64DecodedBytes = Convert.FromBase64String(s); } catch (FormatException e) { Console.WriteLine(e.Message.ToString()); Console.ReadLine(); } return s; } } If I then call the UrlDecodedData method I get a “Invalid character in a Base-64 string” exception. This is generated because the base64Salt variable contains an invalid character (I’m guessing a line termination) but I can’t seem to strip it off.

  • What to Return? Error String, Bool with Error String Out, or Void with Exception

    - by Ranger Pretzel
    I spend most of my time in C# and am trying to figure out which is the best practice for handling an exception and cleanly return an error message from a called method back to the calling method. For example, here is some ActiveDirectory authentication code. Please imagine this Method as part of a Class (and not just a standalone function.) bool IsUserAuthenticated(string domain, string user, string pass, out errStr) { bool authentic = false; try { // Instantiate Directory Entry object DirectoryEntry entry = new DirectoryEntry("LDAP://" + domain, user, pass); // Force connection over network to authenticate object nativeObject = entry.NativeObject; // No exception thrown? We must be good, then. authentic = true; } catch (Exception e) { errStr = e.Message().ToString(); } return authentic; } The advantages of doing it this way are a clear YES or NO that you can embed right in your If-Then-Else statement. The downside is that it also requires the person using the method to supply a string to get the Error back (if any.) I guess I could overload this method with the same parameters minus the "out errStr", but ignoring the error seems like a bad idea since there can be many reasons for such a failure... Alternatively, I could write a method that returns an Error String (instead of using "out errStr") in which a returned empty string means that the user authenticated fine. string AuthenticateUser(string domain, string user, string pass) { string errStr = ""; try { // Instantiate Directory Entry object DirectoryEntry entry = new DirectoryEntry("LDAP://" + domain, user, pass); // Force connection over network to authenticate object nativeObject = entry.NativeObject; } catch (Exception e) { errStr = e.Message().ToString(); } return errStr; } But this seems like a "weak" way of doing things. Or should I just make my method "void" and just not handle the exception so that it gets passed back to the calling function? void AuthenticateUser(string domain, string user, string pass) { // Instantiate Directory Entry object DirectoryEntry entry = new DirectoryEntry("LDAP://" + domain, user, pass); // Force connection over network to authenticate object nativeObject = entry.NativeObject; } This seems the most sane to me (for some reason). Yet at the same time, the only real advantage of wrapping those 2 lines over just typing those 2 lines everywhere I need to authenticate is that I don't need to include the "LDAP://" string. The downside with this way of doing it is that the user has to put this method in a try-catch block. Thoughts? Is there another way of doing this that I'm not thinking of?

  • Getting started with XSD validation with .NET

    - by Rosarch
    Here is my first attempt at validating XML with XSD. The XML file to be validated: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <config xmlns="Schemas" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="config.xsd"> <levelVariant> <filePath>SampleVariant</filePath> </levelVariant> <levelVariant> <filePath>LegendaryMode</filePath> </levelVariant> <levelVariant> <filePath>AmazingMode</filePath> </levelVariant> </config> The XSD, located in "Schemas/config.xsd" relative to the XML file to be validated: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <xs:schema xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" elementFormDefault="qualified"> <xs:element name="config"> <xs:complexType> <xs:sequence> <xs:element name="levelVariant"> <xs:complexType> <xs:sequence> <xs:element name="filePath" type="xs:anyURI"> </xs:element> </xs:sequence> </xs:complexType> </xs:element> </xs:sequence> </xs:complexType> </xs:element> </xs:schema> Right now, I just want to validate the XML file precisely as it appears currently. Once I understand this better, I'll expand more. Do I really need so many lines for something as simple as the XML file as it currently exists? The validation code in C#: public void SetURI(string uri) { XElement toValidate = XElement.Load(Path.Combine(PATH_TO_DATA_DIR, uri) + ".xml"); // begin confusion // exception here string schemaURI = toValidate.Attributes("xmlns").First().ToString() + toValidate.Attributes("xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation").First().ToString(); XmlSchemaSet schemas = new XmlSchemaSet(); schemas.Add(null, schemaURI); XDocument toValidateDoc = new XDocument(toValidate); toValidateDoc.Validate(schemas, null); // end confusion root = toValidate; } Running the above code gives this exception: The ':' character, hexadecimal value 0x3A, cannot be included in a name. Any illumination would be appreciated.

  • can we use both custom button and inbuilt button in datagridview

    - by Srikanth Mattihalli
    HI all, I am using Datagridview in asp.net. I have used custom buttons of up and down in the datagridview along with edit,delete and paging options. I am handling the up down buttons by raising events in rowcommand and the code is as below string command = e.CommandName; Response.Write(e.CommandArgument.ToString()); int index = Convert.ToInt32(e.CommandArgument.ToString()); int count = GridView1.Rows.Count; int keyValue = Convert.ToInt32(GridView1.Rows[index].Cells1.Text); string value = GridView1.Rows[index].Cells[4].Text; SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(SqlDataSource1.ConnectionString); SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(); if (command == "up") { if (index > 0) { index = index - 1; int keyValue1 = Convert.ToInt32(GridView1.Rows[index].Cells[1].Text); string value1 = GridView1.Rows[index].Cells[4].Text; cmd.Connection = conn; cmd.CommandText = "UPDATE [category] SET [order_id] = '" + value + "' WHERE [category_id]=" + keyValue1 + ";UPDATE [category] SET [order_id] = '" + value1 + "' WHERE [category_id]=" + keyValue + ";"; conn.Open(); cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); conn.Close(); } } else if (command == "down") { if (index < count - 1) { index = index + 1; int keyValue1 = Convert.ToInt32(GridView1.Rows[index].Cells[1].Text); string value1 = GridView1.Rows[index].Cells[4].Text; cmd.Connection = conn; cmd.CommandText = "UPDATE [category] SET [order_id] = '" + value + "' WHERE [category_id]=" + keyValue1 + ";UPDATE [category] SET [order_id] = '" + value1 + "' WHERE [category_id]=" + keyValue + ";"; conn.Open(); cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); conn.Close(); } } Response.Redirect("Default.aspx"); Designer file " DeleteCommand="DELETE FROM [category] WHERE [category_id] = @category_id" InsertCommand="INSERT INTO [category] ([categoryname], [navigation_url], [order_id]) VALUES (@categoryname, @navigation_url, @order_id)" SelectCommand="SELECT * FROM [category] order by order_id" UpdateCommand="UPDATE [category] SET [categoryname] = @categoryname, [navigation_url] = @navigation_url, [order_id] = @order_id WHERE [category_id] = @category_id" After this my edit,delete and paging is not working bcoz of event conflicts. Can anyone plz help me on this, so that i will be able to use both custom buttons(up and down) and edit,delete and paging features.

  • Prevent SQL Injection in Dynamic column names

    - by Mr Shoubs
    I can't get away without writing some dynamic sql conditions in a part of my system (using Postgres). My question is how best to avoid SQL Injection with the method I am currently using. EDIT (Reasoning): There are many of columns in a number of tables (a number which grows (only) and is maintained elsewhere). I need a method of allowing the user to decide which (predefined) column they want to query (and if necessary apply string functions to). The query itself is far too complex for the user to write themselves, nor do they have access to the db. There are 1000's of users with varying requirements and I need to remain as flexible as possible - I shouldn't have to revisit the code unless the main query needs to change - Also, there is no way of knowing what conditions the user will need to use. I have objects (received via web service) that generates a condition (the generation method is below - it isn't perfect yet) for some large sql queries. The _FieldName is user editable (parameter name was, but it didn't need to be) and I am worried it could be an attack vector. I put double quotes (see quoted identifier) around the field name in an attempt to sanitize the string, this way it can never be a key word. I could also look up the field name against a list of fields, but it would be difficult to maintain on a timely basis. Unfortunately the user must enter the condition criteria, I am sure there must be more I can add to the sanatize method? and does quoting the column name make it safe? (my limited testing seems to think so). an example built condition would be "AND upper(brandloaded.make) like 'O%' and upper(brandloaded.make) not like 'OTHERBRAND'" ... Any help or suggestions are appreciated. Public Function GetCondition() As String Dim sb As New Text.StringBuilder 'put quote around the table name in an attempt to prevent some sql injection 'http://www.postgresql.org/docs/8.2/static/sql-syntax-lexical.html sb.AppendFormat(" {0} ""{1}"" ", _LogicOperator.ToString, _FieldName) Select Case _ConditionOperator Case ConditionOperatorOptions.Equals sb.Append(" = ") ... End Select sb.AppendFormat(" {0} ", Me.UniqueParameterName) 'for parameter Return Me.Sanitize(sb) End Function Private Function Sanitize(ByVal sb As Text.StringBuilder) As String 'compare against a similar blacklist mentioned here: http://forums.asp.net/t/1254125.aspx sb.Replace(";", "") sb.Replace("'", "") sb.Replace("\", "") sb.Replace(Chr(8), "") Return sb.ToString End Function Public ReadOnly Property UniqueParameterName() As String Get Return String.Concat(":" _UniqueIdentifier) End Get End Property

  • downloaded zip file returns zero has 0 bytes as size

    - by Yaw Reuben
    I have written a Java web application that allows a user to download files from a server. These files are quite large and so are zipped together before download. It works like this: 1. The user gets a list of files that match his/her criteria 2. If the user likes a file and wants to download he/she selects it by checking a checkbox 3. The user then clicks "download" 4. The files are then zipped and stored on a server 5. The user this then presented with a page which contains a link to the downloadable zip file 6. However on downloading the zip file the file that is downloaded is 0 bytes in size I have checked the remote server and the zip file is being created properly, all that is left is to serve the file the user somehow, can you see where I might be going wrong, or suggest a better way to serve the zip file. The code that creates the link is: <% String zipFileURL = (String) request.getAttribute("zipFileURL"); %> <p><a href="<% out.print(zipFileURL); %> ">Zip File Link</a></p> The code that creates the zipFileURL variable is: public static String zipFiles(ArrayList<String> fileList, String contextRootPath) { //time-stamping Date date = new Date(); Timestamp timeStamp = new Timestamp(date.getTime()); Iterator fileListIterator = fileList.iterator(); String zipFileURL = ""; try { String ZIP_LOC = contextRootPath + "WEB-INF" + SEP + "TempZipFiles" + SEP; BufferedInputStream origin = null; zipFileURL = ZIP_LOC + "FITS." + timeStamp.toString().replaceAll(":", ".").replaceAll(" ", ".") + ".zip"; FileOutputStream dest = new FileOutputStream(ZIP_LOC + "FITS." + timeStamp.toString().replaceAll(":", ".").replaceAll(" ", ".") + ".zip"); ZipOutputStream out = new ZipOutputStream(new BufferedOutputStream( dest)); // out.setMethod(ZipOutputStream.DEFLATED); byte data[] = new byte[BUFFER]; while(fileListIterator.hasNext()) { String fileName = (String) fileListIterator.next(); System.out.println("Adding: " + fileName); FileInputStream fi = new FileInputStream(fileName); origin = new BufferedInputStream(fi, BUFFER); ZipEntry entry = new ZipEntry(fileName); out.putNextEntry(entry); int count; while ((count = origin.read(data, 0, BUFFER)) != -1) { out.write(data, 0, count); } origin.close(); } out.close(); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } return zipFileURL; }

  • Why is my file being cleared if I don't save it?

    - by Kat
    My program is suppose to maintain a collection of Photos in a PhotoAlbum. It begins by reading a folder of photos and adds them to my PhotoAlbum. It then prints a menu that allows the user to list all the photos, add a photo, find a photo, save, and quit the program. Right now if I run my program it will add the 100 photos to the PhotoAlbum, but if I quit the program without saving, it clears the file I am reading from even if I haven't added a photo or done anything to the PhotoAlbum and I'm not sure why. Here is my method for printing to a file: private static void saveFile(PrintWriter writer) { String result; ArrayList<Photo> temp = album.getPhotoAlbum(); for (int i = 0; i < temp.size(); i++){ result = temp.get(i).toString() + "\n"; writer.println(result); } writer.close(); } And where the PrintWriter is instantiated: File file = new File(args[0] + File.separator + "album.dat"); try { PrintWriter fout = new PrintWriter(new FileWriter(file)); fileWriter = fout; } catch (IOException e){ System.out.println("ReadFromFile: Folder " + args[0] + " is not found."); System.exit(0); } And where it is called in my runMenu Method: private static void runMainMenu(Scanner scan) { String input; do { showMainMenu(); input = scan.nextLine().toLowerCase(); switch (input.charAt(0)) { case 'p': System.out.println(album.toString()); break; case 'a': album.addPhoto(readPhoto(scan, t)); break; case 'f': findMenu(scan); break; case 's': saveFile(fileWriter); System.exit(0); break; case 'q': break; default: System.out.println("Invalid entry: " + input.charAt(0)); break; } } while (!input.equalsIgnoreCase("q")); }

  • Strange results - I obtain same value for all keys

    - by Pietro Luciani
    I have a problem with mapreduce. Giving as input a list of song ("Songname"#"UserID"#"boolean") i must have as result a song list in which is specified how many time different useres listen them... so a output ("Songname","timelistening"). I used hashtable to allow only one couple . With short files it works well but when I put as input a list about 1000000 of records it returns me the same value (20) for all records. This is my mapper: public static class CanzoniMapper extends Mapper<Object, Text, Text, IntWritable>{ private IntWritable userID = new IntWritable(0); private Text song = new Text(); public void map(Object key, Text value, Context context) throws IOException, InterruptedException { /*StringTokenizer itr = new StringTokenizer(value.toString()); while (itr.hasMoreTokens()) { word.set(itr.nextToken()); context.write(word, one); }*/ String[] caratteri = value.toString().split("#"); if(caratteri[2].equals("1")){ song.set(caratteri[0]); userID.set(Integer.parseInt(caratteri[1])); context.write(song,userID); } } } This is my reducer: public static class CanzoniReducer extends Reducer<Text,IntWritable,Text,IntWritable> { private IntWritable result = new IntWritable(); public void reduce(Text key, Iterable<IntWritable> values, Context context) throws IOException, InterruptedException { Hashtable<IntWritable,Text> doppioni = new Hashtable<IntWritable,Text>(); for (IntWritable val : values) { doppioni.put(val,key); } result.set(doppioni.size()); //doppioni.clear(); context.write(key,result); } } and main: Configuration conf = new Configuration(); Job job = new Job(conf, "word count"); job.setJarByClass(Canzoni.class); job.setMapperClass(CanzoniMapper.class); //job.setCombinerClass(CanzoniReducer.class); //job.setNumReduceTasks(2); job.setReducerClass(CanzoniReducer.class); job.setOutputKeyClass(Text.class); job.setOutputValueClass(IntWritable.class); FileInputFormat.addInputPath(job, new Path(args[0])); FileOutputFormat.setOutputPath(job, new Path(args[1])); System.exit(job.waitForCompletion(true) ? 0 : 1); Any idea???
