  • Fragment not showing up and breaks other buttons on Layout

    - by Devin Crane
    I'm learning how to use Fragments, and trying to add a fragment tag_button.xml at runtime to a FrameLayout tagFragmentContainer deep within another layout, deepLayout.xml. I get no errors, but the fragment doesn't show up. When I make its container visible, I can see a small sliver of layout between the other elements already existing, but then it disappears after onCreateView(), and all the remaining buttons are broken, which is even more confusing to me. tag_button.xml is just a regular layout file with some text and a button. tagFragmentContainer, within a LinearLayout in the middle of a large layout file, deepLayout.xml: <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/tagButtonsLayout" android:layout_marginBottom="10dip" android:visibility="gone" style="@style/Form"> <FrameLayout android:id="@+id/tagFragmentContainer" android:layout_marginBottom="10dip" style="@style/Form"> </FrameLayout> </LinearLayout> In deepLayoutActivity, I make visible tagButtonsLayout and start TagButtonActivity: final LinearLayout anotherlm = (LinearLayout) findViewById(R.id.tagButtonsLayout); anotherlm.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE); Intent i = new Intent (this, TagButtonActivity.class); startActivity(i); TagButtonActivity is as follows: public class TagButtonActivity extends FragmentActivity { @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.action_expense); if (savedInstanceState != null) return; TagButtonFragment firstFragment = new TagButtonFragment(); getSupportFragmentManager().beginTransaction().add(R.id.tagFragmentContainer, firstFragment, "tagOne").commit(); } } TagButtonFragment: public class TagButtonFragment extends Fragment { @Override public View onCreateView(LayoutInflater inflater, ViewGroup container, Bundle savedInstanceState) { // Inflate the layout for this fragment return inflater.inflate(R.layout.tag_button, container, false); } } tag_button.xml: <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" style="@style/Form"> <TextView android:id="@+id/tag_button_header" style="@style/FieldHeader" android:text="example text"/> <RelativeLayout android:id="@+id/tag_button_block" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_marginLeft="2dip" android:layout_marginTop="3dip" android:layout_marginBottom="3dip" android:layout_marginRight="2dip" android:layout_height="43dip" android:clickable="true" android:background="@drawable/row_spinner_selector"> <ImageView android:id="@+id/question_arrow" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginLeft="10dip" android:layout_marginRight="10dip" android:layout_alignParentRight="true" android:layout_centerVertical="true" android:src="@drawable/arrow_right"/> <TextView android:id="@+id/tag_question_text" android:layout_toLeftOf="@id/question_arrow" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginLeft="10dip" android:layout_centerVertical="true" android:textColor="@android:color/black" android:singleLine="true" android:ellipsize="end" android:textSize="15sp" android:text="@string/not_selected"/> </RelativeLayout> </LinearLayout> I would certainly appreciate any help in figuring this out from someone who knows fragments better than me! Thanks!

  • Android app crashes when I change the default xml layout file to another

    - by mib1413456
    I am currently just starting to learn android development and have created a basic "Hello world" app that uses "activity_main.xml" for the default layout. I tried to create a new layout xml file called "new_layout.xml" with a text view, a text field and a button and did the following changes in the MainActivity.java file: setContentView(R.layout.new_layout); I did nothing else expect for adding a new_layout.xml in the res/layout folder, I have tried restarting and cleaning the project but nothing. Below is my activity_main.xml file, new_layout.xml file and MainActivity.java activity_main.xml: <FrameLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools" android:id="@+id/container" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" tools:context="org.example.androidsdk.demo.MainActivity" tools:ignore="MergeRootFrame" /> new_layout.xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:orientation="horizontal" > <TextView android:id="@+id/textView1" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="TextView" /> <EditText android:id="@+id/editText1" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_weight="1" android:ems="10" > <requestFocus /> </EditText> <Button android:id="@+id/button1" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Button" /> MainActivity.java file package org.example.androidsdk.demo; import android.app.Activity; import android.app.ActionBar; import android.app.Fragment; import android.os.Bundle; import android.view.LayoutInflater; import android.view.Menu; import android.view.MenuItem; import android.view.View; import android.view.ViewGroup; import android.os.Build; public class MainActivity extends Activity { @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.new_layout); if (savedInstanceState == null) { getFragmentManager().beginTransaction() .add(R.id.container, new PlaceholderFragment()) .commit(); } } @Override public boolean onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu) { // Inflate the menu; this adds items to the action bar if it is present. getMenuInflater().inflate(R.menu.main, menu); return true; } @Override public boolean onOptionsItemSelected(MenuItem item) { // Handle action bar item clicks here.   • Crystal reports .net visual studio 2008 bundled edition

    - by DeveloperChris
    I have a serious issue with crystal reports. when run in my development environment or debugged on my local machine it works fine. but when the application is published to a windows server 2003 it has the dreaded "The report you requested requires further information" Message I have had no luck trying to get rid of this message Anybody know what I can try? DC Here is a bunch more info. I use a placeholder in the aspx page and then set the user/password and database in the codebehind I could not get it to work with a dataset and found that I had to assign odbc connection in the cr designer. and then in the code behind change the above details as required. This is done because the same report can get the data from 3 different databases (live development and training) protected override void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { base.Page_Load(sender, e); CrystalReportSource1.ReportDocument.Load(Server.MapPath(@"~/Reports/Report5asp.rpt")); CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = ConfigureCrystalReports(CrystalReportSource1.ReportDocument,CrystalReportViewer1); // parameters CrystalReportViewer1.ParameterFieldInfo.Clear(); AddParameter("DIid", _app.Data["DIid"], CrystalReportViewer1.ParameterFieldInfo); AddParameter("EEid", _app.Data["EEid"], CrystalReportViewer1.ParameterFieldInfo); AddParameter("CTid", _app.Data["CTid"], CrystalReportViewer1.ParameterFieldInfo); } public ReportDocument ConfigureCrystalReports(ReportDocument report, CrystalReportViewer viewer) { String _connectionString = _app.ConnectionString(); String dsn = _app.DSN(); SqlConnectionStringBuilder SConn = new SqlConnectionStringBuilder(_connectionString); TableLogOnInfos crtableLogoninfos = new TableLogOnInfos(); TableLogOnInfo crtableLogoninfo = new TableLogOnInfo(); ConnectionInfo crConnectionInfo = new ConnectionInfo(); crConnectionInfo.ServerName = dsn;// SConn.DataSource; crConnectionInfo.DatabaseName = SConn.InitialCatalog; crConnectionInfo.UserID = SConn.UserID; crConnectionInfo.Password = SConn.Password; crConnectionInfo.Type = ConnectionInfoType.SQL; crConnectionInfo.IntegratedSecurity = false; foreach (CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table CrTable in report.Database.Tables) { crtableLogoninfo = CrTable.LogOnInfo; crtableLogoninfo.ConnectionInfo = crConnectionInfo; CrTable.ApplyLogOnInfo(crtableLogoninfo); } return report; } As stated this works fine on my XP machine used for development when deployed on winserver 2003 I get the error DC Some interesting additional information I moved the development to my home machine so I could work on the problem this weekend. So now I am developing debugging and testing on the same machine! In VS2008 I can edit and preview the reports with no problems If I fire up the debugger I can view the reports in the browser with no problems But if I publish the website to another folder on the same machine and fire up IIS and try to browse to a report I get the aforementioned error. All else works as expected. IIS runs under different permissions than VS2008 so perhaps its something to do with that, but I have tried lots of different permissions and cannot get it to run. DC

  • Unexpected behavior of IntentService

    - by kknight
    I used IntentService in my code instead of Service because IntentService creates a thread for me in onHandleIntent(Intent intent), so I don't have to create a Thead myself in the code of my service. I expected that two intents to the same IntentSerivce will execute in parallel because a thread is generated in IntentService for each invent. But my code turned out that the two intents executed in sequential way. This is my IntentService code: public class UpdateService extends IntentService { public static final String TAG = "HelloTestIntentService"; public UpdateService() { super("News UpdateService"); } protected void onHandleIntent(Intent intent) { String userAction = intent .getStringExtra("userAction"); Log.v(TAG, "" + new Date() + ", In onHandleIntent for userAction = " + userAction + ", thread id = " + Thread.currentThread().getId()); if ("1".equals(userAction)) { try { Thread.sleep(20 * 1000); } catch (InterruptedException e) { Log.e(TAG, "error", e); } Log.v(TAG, "" + new Date() + ", This thread is waked up."); } } } And the code call the service is below: public class HelloTest extends Activity { //@Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); Intent selectIntent = new Intent(this, UpdateService.class); selectIntent.putExtra("userAction", "1"); this.startService(selectIntent); selectIntent = new Intent(this, UpdateService.class); selectIntent.putExtra("userAction", "2"); this.startService(selectIntent); } } I saw this log message in the log: V/HelloTestIntentService( 848): Wed May 05 14:59:37 PDT 2010, In onHandleIntent for userAction = 1, thread id = 8 D/dalvikvm( 609): GC freed 941 objects / 55672 bytes in 99ms V/HelloTestIntentService( 848): Wed May 05 15:00:00 PDT 2010, This thread is waked up. V/HelloTestIntentService( 848): Wed May 05 15:00:00 PDT 2010, In onHandleIntent for userAction = 2, thread id = 8 I/ActivityManager( 568): Stopping service: com.example.android/.UpdateService The log shows that the second intent waited the first intent to finish and they are in the same thread. It there anything I misunderstood of IntentService. To make two service intents execute in parallel, do I have to replace IntentService with service and start a thread myself in the service code? Thanks.

  • DropDownList not updating value

    - by annelie
    Hello, I posted a question earlier but have another problem after making those changes. The previous thread can be found here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2700028/binding-a-dropdownlist-inside-a-detailsview Basically, I've got a dropdownlist that's dynamically populated with a list of regions. It selects the correct region when viewing the dropdown, but when I try to edit it changes the value to null. I think it might be because it doesn't know which field to update. Previously, when the dropdown list was hardcoded, I had SelectedValue='<%# Bind("region_id")%' set on the dropdown list, and when I updated it worked fine. However, I had to move the setting of the selected value into the code behind and now it just gets set to null every time I update. Here's the aspx code: <asp:DetailsView id="DetailsView1" runat="server" AutoGenerateRows="false" DataSourceID="myMySqlDataSrc" DataKeyNames="id" AutoGenerateDeleteButton="True" AutoGenerateEditButton="True" AutoGenerateInsertButton="False" OnDataBound="DetailsView1_DataBound" > <Fields> <snip> <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Region"> <ItemTemplate><%# Eval("region_name") %></ItemTemplate> <EditItemTemplate> <asp:DropDownList ID="RegionDropdownList" runat="server"> </asp:DropDownList> </EditItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> </Fields> </asp:DetailsView> And here's the code behind: protected void DetailsView1_DataBound(object sender, EventArgs e) { ArrayList regionsList = BPBusiness.getRegions(); if (DetailsView1.CurrentMode == DetailsViewMode.Edit) { DropDownList ddlRegions = (DropDownList)DetailsView1.FindControl("RegionDropdownList"); if (ddlRegions != null) { ddlRegions.DataSource = regionsList; ddlRegions.DataValueField = "Value"; ddlRegions.DataTextField = "Text"; ddlRegions.DataBind(); if (ddlRegions.Items.Contains(ddlRegions.Items.FindByValue(objBusiness.iRegionID.ToString()))) { ddlRegions.SelectedIndex = ddlRegions.Items.IndexOf(ddlRegions.Items.FindByValue(objBusiness.iRegionID.ToString())); } } } } EDIT: The database is MySql, and the update statement looks like this: myMySqlDataSrc.UpdateCommand = "UPDATE myTable SET business_name = ?, addr_line_1 = ?, addr_line_2 = ?, addr_line_3 = ?, postcode = ?, county = ?, town_city = ?, tl_url = ?, customer_id = ?, region_id = ?, description = ?, approval_status = ?, tl_user_name = ?, phone = ?, uploaders_own = ? WHERE id = ?"; Thanks, Annelie

  • Asp.NET custom templated datalist throws argument out of range (index) on button press

    - by MrTortoise
    I have a class BaseTemplate public abstract class BaseTemplate : ITemplate This adds the controls, and provides abstract methods to implement in the inheriting class. The inheriting class then adds its html according to its data source and manages the data binding. This all works fine - I get the control appearing with properly parsed html. The problem is that the base class adds controls into the template that have their own CommandName arguments; the idea is that the class that implements the custom templated dataList will provide the logic of setting the Selected and Edit Indexes. This class also manages the data binding, etc. It sets all of the templates on the datalist in the Init method (which was another cause of this exception). The exception gets thrown when I hit one of these buttons - I have tried hooking up both their click and command events everywhere in case this was the problem. I have also ensured that their command names do not match any of the system ones. The stack trace does not include any references to my methods or objects which is why I am so stuck. It is the most unhelpful message I can imagine. The really frustrating thing is that I cannot get a breakpoint to fire - i.e. the problem is happening after I click the button, but before and of my code can execute. The last time this exception happened was when I had this code in a user control and was assigning the templates to the datalist in the PageLoad. I moved these into init to fix that problem; however, this is a problem that was there then and I have no idea what is causing it let alone how to solve it (and index out of range doesn't really help without knowing what index.) • Subclassing a window from a thread in c#

    - by user258651
    I'm creating a thread that looks for a window. When it finds the window, it overrides its windowproc, and handles WM_COMMAND and WM_CLOSE. Here's the code that looks for the window and subclasses it: public void DetectFileDialogProc() { Window fileDialog = null; // try to find the dialog twice, with a delay of 500 ms each time for (int attempts = 0; fileDialog == null && attempts < 2; attempts++) { // FindDialogs enumerates all windows of class #32770 via an EnumWindowProc foreach (Window wnd in FindDialogs(500)) { IntPtr parent = NativeMethods.User32.GetParent(wnd.Handle); if (parent != IntPtr.Zero) { // we're looking for a dialog whose parent is a dialog as well Window parentWindow = new Window(parent); if (parentWindow.ClassName == NativeMethods.SystemWindowClasses.Dialog) { fileDialog = wnd; break; } } } } // if we found the dialog if (fileDialog != null) { OldWinProc = NativeMethods.User32.GetWindowLong(fileDialog.Handle, NativeMethods.GWL_WNDPROC); NativeMethods.User32.SetWindowLong(fileDialog.Handle, NativeMethods.GWL_WNDPROC, Marshal.GetFunctionPointerForDelegate(new WindowProc(WndProc)).ToInt32()); } } And the windowproc: public IntPtr WndProc(IntPtr hWnd, uint msg, IntPtr wParam, IntPtr lParam) { lock (this) { if (!handled) { if (msg == NativeMethods.WM_COMMAND || msg == NativeMethods.WM_CLOSE) { // adding to a list. i never access the window via the hwnd from this list, i just treat it as a number _addDescriptor(hWnd); handled = true; } } } return NativeMethods.User32.CallWindowProc(OldWinProc, hWnd, msg, wParam, lParam); } This all works well under normal conditions. But I am seeing two instances of bad behavior in order of badness: If I do not close the dialog within a minute or so, the app crashes. Is this because the thread is getting garbage collected? This would kind of make sense, as far as GC can tell the thread is done? If this is the case, (and I don't know that it is), how can I make the thread stay around as long as the dialog is around? If I immediately close the dialog with the 'X' button (WM_CLOSE) the app crashes. I believe its crashing in the windowproc, but I can't get a breakpoint in there. I'm getting an AccessViolationException, The exception says "Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt." Its a race condition, but of what I don't know. FYI, I had been reseting the old windowproc once I processed the commands, but that was crashing even more often! Any ideas on how I can solve these issues?

  • Lucene: Wildcards are missing from index

    - by Eleasar
    Hi - i am building a search index that contains special names - containing ! and ? and & and + and ... I have to tread the following searches different: me & you me + you But whatever i do (did try with queryparser escaping before indexing, escaped it manually, tried different indexers...) - if i check the search index with Luke they do not show up (question marks and @-symbols and the like show up) The logic behind is that i am doing partial searches for a live suggestion (and the fields are not that large) so i split it up into "m" and "me" and "+" and "y" and "yo" and "you" and then index it (that way it is way faster than a wildcard query search (and the index size is not a big problem). So what i would need is to also have this special wildcard characters be inserted into the index. This is my code: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.IO; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using Lucene.Net.Analysis; using Lucene.Net.Util; namespace AnalyzerSpike { public class CustomAnalyzer : Analyzer { public override TokenStream TokenStream(string fieldName, TextReader reader) { return new ASCIIFoldingFilter(new LowerCaseFilter(new CustomCharTokenizer(reader))); } } public class CustomCharTokenizer : CharTokenizer { public CustomCharTokenizer(TextReader input) : base(input) { } public CustomCharTokenizer(AttributeSource source, TextReader input) : base(source, input) { } public CustomCharTokenizer(AttributeFactory factory, TextReader input) : base(factory, input) { } protected override bool IsTokenChar(char c) { return c != ' '; } } } The code to create the index: private void InitIndex(string path, Analyzer analyzer) { var writer = new IndexWriter(path, analyzer, true); //some multiline textbox that contains one item per line: var all = new List<string>(txtAllAvailable.Text.Replace("\r","").Split('\n')); foreach (var item in all) { writer.AddDocument(GetDocument(item)); } writer.Optimize(); writer.Close(); } private static Document GetDocument(string name) { var doc = new Document(); doc.Add(new Field( "name", DeNormalizeName(name), Field.Store.YES, Field.Index.ANALYZED)); doc.Add(new Field( "raw_name", name, Field.Store.YES, Field.Index.NOT_ANALYZED)); return doc; } (Code is with Lucene.net in version 1.9.x (EDIT: sorry - was 2.9.x) but is compatible with Lucene from Java) Thx

  • Access external xml using xslt document function return 401

    - by Ciprian Grosu
    On MOSS2007, I have a webpart that display the content of a xml feed. I use a xslt with parameters for transforamtions. There is a situation when I receive a 401 Authorisation exception. I realize that this happen when a document() function from my xslt try to open an external xml. If I try to open this xml in browser all work ok. I provided my admin credentials to the web part and to the XmlSecureResolver. Same problem. The webpart is on server1 and the xml feed and external xml required by xslt is on server2. Below is my code please have a look and suggest accordingly: //Source code protected void onCreate(Bundle icicle) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub super.onCreate(icicle); setContentView(R.layout.main); infoTextView = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.infoTextView); // Finding Current Location locationManager = (LocationManager) getSystemService(Context.LOCATION_SERVICE); locationManager.requestLocationUpdates(LocationManager.GPS_PROVIDER, 1l, 1l, this); Location location = locationManager.getLastKnownLocation("gps"); // mock location by hard-code if DDMS has not sent a fake loc to the emulator. if (location == null) { lat = 13.6972 * 1E6; lng = 100.5150 * 1E6; } else { // get real location if can retrieve the location sent by DDMS or GPS lat = location.getLatitude() * 1E6; lng = location.getLongitude() * 1E6; } setGPSLocation(lat, lng); } //This is the function which I am calling with different lat and long public void setGPSLocation(Double lati, Double longi) { lat = lati; lng = longi; System.out.println("Latitude :"+ lat +" Longitude :"+lng); // Prepare text being shown String tmpLoc = LOC_INFO_TEMPLATE; tmpLoc = tmpLoc.replace("lg", String.valueOf(lng)); tmpLoc = tmpLoc.replace("lt", String.valueOf(lat)); infoTextView.setText(tmpLoc); // Setup Zoom/Hide Buttons linearLayout = (LinearLayout) findViewById(R.id.zoomview); mapView = (MapView) findViewById(R.id.mapview); mapView.invalidate(); mapView.setBuiltInZoomControls(true); //new by me mapView.setSatellite(true); // Set satellite view mZoom = (ZoomControls) mapView.getZoomControls(); linearLayout.addView(mZoom); // Setup Marker mapOverlays = mapView.getOverlays(); drawable = this.getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.marker); itemizedOverlay = new MyItemizedOverlay(drawable); GeoPoint point = new GeoPoint(lat.intValue(), lng.intValue()); OverlayItem overlayitem = new OverlayItem(point, "", ""); itemizedOverlay.addOverlay(overlayitem); mapOverlays.add(itemizedOverlay); // Centralize Current Location myMapController = mapView.getController(); myMapController.setZoom(DEFAULT_ZOOM_NUM); centerlizeCurrentLocation(point); } Any suggest is truly appreciable.

  • Help with Linq Expression - INotifyPropertyChanged

    - by Stephen Patten
    Hello, I'm reading the source code from the latest Prism 4 drop and am interested in solving this problem. There is a base class for the ViewModels that implements INotifyPropertyChanged and INotifyDataErrorInfo and provides some refactoring friendly change notification. protected void RaisePropertyChanged<T>(Expression<Func<T>> propertyExpresssion) { var propertyName = ExtractPropertyName(propertyExpresssion); this.RaisePropertyChanged(propertyName); } private string ExtractPropertyName<T>(Expression<Func<T>> propertyExpresssion) { if (propertyExpresssion == null) { throw new ArgumentNullException("propertyExpression"); } var memberExpression = propertyExpresssion.Body as MemberExpression; if (memberExpression == null) { throw new ArgumentException("The expression is not a member access expression.", "propertyExpression"); } var property = memberExpression.Member as PropertyInfo; if (property == null) { throw new ArgumentException("The member access expression does not access property.","propertyExpression"); } if (!property.DeclaringType.IsAssignableFrom(this.GetType())) { throw new ArgumentException("The referenced property belongs to a different type.", "propertyExpression"); } var getMethod = property.GetGetMethod(true); if (getMethod == null) { // this shouldn't happen - the expression would reject the property before reaching this far throw new ArgumentException("The referenced property does not have a get method.", "propertyExpression"); } if (getMethod.IsStatic) { throw new ArgumentException("The referenced property is a static property.", "propertyExpression"); } return memberExpression.Member.Name; } and as an example of it's usage private void RetrieveNewQuestionnaire() { this.Questions.Clear(); var template = this.questionnaireService.GetQuestionnaireTemplate(); this.questionnaire = new Questionnaire(template); foreach (var question in this.questionnaire.Questions) { this.Questions.Add(this.CreateQuestionViewModel(question)); } this.RaisePropertyChanged(() => this.Name); this.RaisePropertyChanged(() => this.UnansweredQuestions); this.RaisePropertyChanged(() => this.TotalQuestions); this.RaisePropertyChanged(() => this.CanSubmit); } My question is this. What would it take to pass an array of the property names to an overloaded method (RaisePropertyChanged) and condense this last bit of code from 4 lines to 1? Thank you, Stephen

  • Why am I seeing a crash when trying to call CDHtmlDialog::OnInitDialog()

    - by Tim
    I added a helpAbout menu item to my mfc app. I decided to make the ddlg derive from CDHTMLDialog. I override the OnInitDialog() method in my derived class and the first thing I do is call the parent's OnInitDialog() method. I then put in code that sets the title. On some machines this works fine, but on others it crashes in the call to CDHtmlDialog::OnInitDialog() - Trying to read a null pointer. the call stack has nothing useful - it is in mfc90.dll Is this a potential problem with mismatches of mfc/win32 dlls? It works on my vista machines but crashes on a win2003 server box. BOOL HTMLAboutDlg::OnInitDialog() { // CRASHES on the following line CDHtmlDialog::OnInitDialog(); CString title = "my title"; // example of setting title // i try to get version info //set the title CModuleVersion ver; char filename[ _MAX_PATH ]; GetModuleFileName( AfxGetApp()->m_hInstance, filename, _MAX_PATH ); ver.GetFileVersionInfo(filename); // get version from VS_FIXEDFILEINFO struct CString s; s.Format("Version: %d.%d.%d.%d\n", HIWORD(ver.dwFileVersionMS), LOWORD(ver.dwFileVersionMS), HIWORD(ver.dwFileVersionLS), LOWORD(ver.dwFileVersionLS)); CString version = ver.GetValue(_T("ProductVersion")); version.Remove(' '); version.Replace(",", "."); title = "MyApp - Version " + version; SetWindowText(title); return TRUE; // return TRUE unless you set the focus to a control } And here is the relevant header file: class HTMLAboutDlg : public CDHtmlDialog { DECLARE_DYNCREATE(HTMLAboutDlg) public: HTMLAboutDlg(CWnd* pParent = NULL); // standard constructor virtual ~HTMLAboutDlg(); // Overrides HRESULT OnButtonOK(IHTMLElement *pElement); HRESULT OnButtonCancel(IHTMLElement *pElement); // Dialog Data enum { IDD = IDD_DIALOG_ABOUT, IDH = IDR_HTML_HTMLABOUTDLG }; protected: virtual void DoDataExchange(CDataExchange* pDX); // DDX/DDV support virtual BOOL OnInitDialog(); DECLARE_MESSAGE_MAP() DECLARE_DHTML_EVENT_MAP() }; I can't figure out what is going on - why it works on some machins and crashes on others. Both have VS2008 installed EDIT: VS versions VISTA - no crashes 9.0.30729.1 SP 2003 server: (crashes) 9.0.21022.8 RTM

  • MVC 2 AntiForgeryToken - Why symmetric encryption + IPrinciple?

    - by Brad R
    We recently updated our solution to MVC 2, and this has updated the way that the AntiForgeryToken works. Unfortunately this does not fit with our AJAX framework any more. The problem is that MVC 2 now uses symmetric encryption to encode some properties about the user, including the user's Name property (from IPrincipal). We are able to securely register a new user using AJAX, after which subsequent AJAX calls will be invalid as the anti forgery token will change when the user has been granted a new principal. There are also other cases when this may happen, such as a user updating their name etc. My main question is why does MVC 2 even bother using symmetric encryption? Any then why does it care about the user name property on the principal? If my understanding is correct then any random shared secret will do. The basic principle is that the user will be sent a cookie with some specific data (HttpOnly!). This cookie is then required to match a form variable sent back with each request that may have side effects (POST's usually). Since this is only meant to protect from cross site attacks it is easy to craft up a response that would easily pass the test, but only if you had full access to the cookie. Since a cross site attacker is not going to have access to your user cookies you are protected. By using symmetric encryption, what is the advantage in checking the contents of the cookie? That is, if I already have sent an HttpOnly cookie the attacker cannot override it (unless a browser has a major security issue), so why do I then need to check it again? After having a think about it it appears to be one of those 'added layer of security' cases - but if your first line of defence has fallen (HttpOnly) then the attacker is going to get past the second layer anyway as they have full access to the users cookie collection, and could just impersonate them directly, instead of using an indirect XSS/CSRF attack. Of course I could be missing a major issue, but I haven't found it yet. If there are some obvious or subtle issues at play here then I would like to be aware of them.

  • Help with a logic problem

    - by Stradigos
    I'm having a great deal of difficulty trying to figure out the logic behind this problem. I have developed everything else, but I really could use some help, any sort of help, on the part I'm stuck on. Back story: *A group of actors waits in a circle. They "count off" by various amounts. The last few to audition are thought to have the best chance of getting the parts and becoming stars. Instead of actors having names, they are identified by numbers. The "Audition Order" in the table tells, reading left-to-right, the "names" of the actors who will be auditioned in the order they will perform.* Sample output: etc, all the way up to 10. What I have so far: using System; using System.Collections; using System.Text; namespace The_Last_Survivor { class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { //Declare Variables int NumOfActors = 0; System.DateTime dt = System.DateTime.Now; int interval = 3; ArrayList Ring = new ArrayList(10); //Header Console.Out.WriteLine("Actors\tNumber\tOrder"); //Add Actors for (int x = 1; x < 11; x++) { NumOfActors++; Ring.Insert((x - 1), new Actor(x)); foreach (Actor i in Ring) { Console.Out.WriteLine("{0}\t{1}\t{2}", NumOfActors, i, i.Order(interval, x)); } Console.Out.WriteLine("\n"); } Console.In.Read(); } public class Actor { //Variables protected int Number; //Constructor public Actor(int num) { Number = num; } //Order in circle public string Order(int inter, int num) { //Variable string result = ""; ArrayList myArray = new ArrayList(num); //Filling Array for (int i = 0; i < num; i++) myArray.Add(i + 1); //Formula foreach (int element in myArray) { if (element == inter) { result += String.Format(" {0}", element); myArray.RemoveAt(element); } } return result; } //String override public override string ToString() { return String.Format("{0}", Number); } } } } The part I'm stuck on is getting some math going that does this: Can anyone offer some guidance and/or sample code?

  • Android calculator with button click

    I am trying to calculate a field named lblAnswer by adding values txtA + txtB. I am fairly new to the android development world and would like to know what is the best way of going about this. I have already added the necessarily edit fields to the GUI. I am now working in the java file to try and create the method. This method has been named doCalc. Here is what I have thus far. public void doCalc() { lblAnswer = txtA + txtB; } It has been suggested that I add more code here is the full code. Thank you for that suggestion. • Connected host failed to respond (internal NAT address)

    - by MostRandom
    I'm writing my first C# web application that connects to an XML based service. It requires that I present a certificate and feed the XML stream. It seems to authenticate properly but then it gives the following error: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond 10.1.10.4:3128 The funny thing is that I'm not on a proxy or anything like that. I'm connecting directly to the internet. At one point I we did use a proxy that with internal NAT address. So my question is: Does Visual Studio have some sort of default proxy setting that I need to change? This IP is no longer used for anything, so I know that I don't need to use any proxy authentication code. using System; using System.Data; using System.Configuration; using System.Collections; using System.Web; using System.Net; using System.Security.Cryptography.X509Certificates; using System.Web.Security; using System.Web.UI; using System.Web.UI.WebControls; using System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts; using System.Web.UI.HtmlControls; namespace WebApplication1 { public partial class _Default : System.Web.UI.Page { protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { Uri requestURI = new Uri("*site omitted*"); //Create the Request Object HttpWebRequest pageRequest = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(requestURI); //After installing the cert on the server export a client cert to the working directory as Deluxe.cer string certFile = "*certificate omitted*"; X509Certificate cert = X509Certificate.CreateFromCertFile(certFile); //Pull in your Data, if it is from an external xml as below or create an xml string with variables if a dynamic post is required. string xmlPath = "*XML omitted*"; System.Xml.XmlDocument passXML = new System.Xml.XmlDocument(); passXML.Load(xmlPath); //XML String with the data needed to pass string postData = passXML.OuterXml; //Set the Request Object parameters pageRequest.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"; pageRequest.Method = "POST"; pageRequest.AllowWriteStreamBuffering = false; pageRequest.AllowAutoRedirect = false; pageRequest.ClientCertificates.Add(cert); postData = "xml_data=" + Server.UrlEncode(postData); pageRequest.ContentLength = postData.Length; //Create the Post Stream Object System.IO.StreamWriter postStream = new System.IO.StreamWriter(pageRequest.GetRequestStream()); //Write the data to the post stream postStream.Write(postData); postStream.Flush(); postStream.Close(); //Set the Response Object HttpWebResponse postResponse = (HttpWebResponse)pageRequest.GetResponse();

  • Hosting a WCF Service Lib through a Windows service get a System.InvalidOperationException: attempti

    I have a WCF Service Library containing five service contracts. The library is hosted through a Windows Service. Most if not all my configuration for the WCF Library is declaritive. The only thing I am doing in code for configuration is to pass the type of the class implementing the service contracts into ServiceHost. I then call Open on each of the services during the Windows Service OnStart event. Here is the error message I get: Service cannot be started. System.InvalidOperationException: Service '[Fubu.Conversion.Service1' has zero application (non-infrastructure) endpoints. • fill gridview cell-by-cell

  • Does this MSDN article violate MVVM?

    - by rasx
    This may be old news but back in March 2009, this article, “Model-View-ViewModel In Silverlight 2 Apps,” has a code sample that includes DataServiceEntityBase: // COPIED FROM SILVERLIGHTCONTRIB Project for simplicity /// <summary> /// Base class for DataService Data Contract classes to implement /// base functionality that is needed like INotifyPropertyChanged. /// Add the base class in the partial class to add the implementation. /// </summary> public abstract class DataServiceEntityBase : INotifyPropertyChanged { /// <summary> /// The handler for the registrants of the interface's event /// </summary> PropertyChangedEventHandler _propertyChangedHandler; /// <summary> /// Allow inheritors to fire the event more simply. /// </summary> /// <param name="propertyName"></param> protected void FirePropertyChanged(string propertyName) { if (_propertyChangedHandler != null) { _propertyChangedHandler(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs(propertyName)); } } #region INotifyPropertyChanged Members /// <summary> /// The interface used to notify changes on the entity. /// </summary> event PropertyChangedEventHandler INotifyPropertyChanged.PropertyChanged { add { _propertyChangedHandler += value; } remove { _propertyChangedHandler -= value; } } #endregion What this class implies is that the developer intends to bind visuals directly to data (yes, a ViewModel is used but it defines an ObservableCollection of data objects). Is this design diverging too far from the guidance of MVVM? Now I can see some of the reasons Why would we go this way: what we can do with DataServiceEntityBase is this sort of thing (which is intimate with the Entity Framework): // Partial Method to support the INotifyPropertyChanged interface public partial class Game : DataServiceEntityBase { #region Partial Method INotifyPropertyChanged Implementation // Override the Changed partial methods to implement the // INotifyPropertyChanged interface // This helps with the Model implementation to be a mostly // DataBound implementation partial void OnDeveloperChanged() { base.FirePropertyChanged("Developer"); } partial void OnGenreChanged() { base.FirePropertyChanged("Genre"); } partial void OnListPriceChanged() { base.FirePropertyChanged("ListPrice"); } partial void OnListPriceCurrencyChanged() { base.FirePropertyChanged("ListPriceCurrency"); } partial void OnPlayerInfoChanged() { base.FirePropertyChanged("PlayerInfo"); } partial void OnProductDescriptionChanged() { base.FirePropertyChanged("ProductDescription"); } partial void OnProductIDChanged() { base.FirePropertyChanged("ProductID"); } partial void OnProductImageUrlChanged() { base.FirePropertyChanged("ProductImageUrl"); } partial void OnProductNameChanged() { base.FirePropertyChanged("ProductName"); } partial void OnProductTypeIDChanged() { base.FirePropertyChanged("ProductTypeID"); } partial void OnPublisherChanged() { base.FirePropertyChanged("Publisher"); } partial void OnRatingChanged() { base.FirePropertyChanged("Rating"); } partial void OnRatingUrlChanged() { base.FirePropertyChanged("RatingUrl"); } partial void OnReleaseDateChanged() { base.FirePropertyChanged("ReleaseDate"); } partial void OnSystemNameChanged() { base.FirePropertyChanged("SystemName"); } #endregion } Of course MSDN code can seen as “toy code” for educational purposes but is anyone doing anything like this in the real world of Silverlight development?

  • Custom Windows Forms Control not exporting functions, not showing in tools list, showing as Text

    - by flavour404
    Hi, I have written a very simple control. C# Visual Studio 2008. Its output should be, and is a dll. I have added a reference to the dll within the project that I intend to use it with. The msdn article about how to write a control states that it should appear in the 'Add reference / projects' list, which it doesn't but I simply navigated to it under the 'browse' tab, went to the /bin folder and added the reference that way. I dragged it over to my toolbox, but it shows up as a 'Text:xhair_tool' and when i try and add it to a form, it won't, so what have I done wrong? It was created as a 'Windows forms control' project. It should export the one method which is 'Target' which return an array, as shown below. using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.ComponentModel; using System.Drawing; using System.Data; using System.Text; using System.Windows.Forms; namespace xhair_tool { public partial class xhair : UserControl { public xhair() { InitializeComponent(); } private void xhair_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { } protected override void OnPaint(PaintEventArgs e) { Graphics g = e.Graphics; Pen pen = new Pen(Color.Black, 1); SolidBrush redBrush = new SolidBrush(Color.Red); g.DrawLine(pen, 8, 0, 8, 7); g.DrawLine(pen, 8, 9, 8, 16); g.DrawLine(pen, 0, 8, 7, 8); g.DrawLine(pen, 9, 8, 16, 8); //ControlPaint.DrawReversibleLine(start, end, backColor) } /// <summary> /// Returns the point at the center of the crosshair /// </summary> /// <returns>int[x,y]</returns> public int[] Target { get { int[] _xy = new int[2]; _xy[0] = this.Left + 8; _xy[1] = this.Top + 8; return _xy; } } } } Thanks, R.
