Is there a standard way to override settings from web.xml in a packaged war? I want to change filter settings for an existing library (eclipse birt) without repackaging the war.
In a standard generated scaffold project, when you are on an edit page, the URL looks like;
/something/3/edit
However, when the page doesn't validate, it runs the following code:
format.html { :action => "new" }
and the page url changes to;
/something/3
(no /edit)
Why is this is this and how to prevent it, as it looks inconsistent to me and thus confusing.
Thanks
Example:
switch( x )
{
case y:
if ( true )
{
break;
}
cout << "Oops";
break;
}
If the switch statement selects y, will Oops be written to the standard output?
- Is break in switch statements a dynamic keyword like continue which can be called under conditions or static like a closing bracket }?
What is the reason to use g:textField in Grails if you're already familiar with standard HTML form tags?
If I understand correctly the following two markup alternatives are equivalent:
<input type="text" name="name" value="${params.name}" id="name" />
<g:textField name="name" value="${params.name}" />
Are there any circumstances under which using g:textField would add value? Am I missing something?
I have a GridView bound to an DataSource query with parameters tied to form controls.
What is the standard / best-practices way to handle optional query parameters?
Is there anything like this in the standard library? I've looked but haven't found it.
It needs to be like a list (preserves order) but also like a set (elements can only appear once).
So if you give it ['a', 'b', 'a'] it should return ['a', 'b']
Thanks!
The default methods for dealing with xml in c# seem incredibly crude to me, leading me to suspect that I must be missing something in my searches. What is considered the standard best practices to parse xml files in c#?
I have a C# function that does some processing and needs to return figures about what it has processed, success, failure, etc.
Can anyone tell me if there are any standard framework classes that will handle this (for example, number of records processed, number successful, failed, etc) ?
Alternatively, can anyone say how they usually handle this? Is the best way to create a class, or to use out parameters?
I have a UTF-8 encoded char*.
Is there a standard function to calculate the number of visible characters represented by the byte array?
I'm on Red Hat (RHEL 5).
List.nth is 'T list - int - 'T, rather than the standard int - 'T list - 'T like Seq.nth.
This makes pipeline somewhat awkward.
Is there something behind the scene?
I don't know why.
I am using hibernate to update 20K products in my database.
As of now I am pulling in the 20K products, looping through them and modifying some properties and then updating the database.
so:
load products
foreach products
session begintransaction
productDao.MakePersistant(p);
session commit();
As of now things are pretty slow compared to your standard jdbc, what can I do to speed things up?
I am sure I am doing something wrong here.
I have a situation where I need to extract dates from the file names whose general pattern is [filename_]YYYYMMDD[.fileExtension]
e.g. "xxx_20100326.xls" or x2v_20100326.csv
The below program does the work
//Number of charecter in the substring is set to 8
//since the length of YYYYMMDD is 8
public static string ExtractDatesFromFileNames(string fileName)
{
return fileName.Substring(fileName.IndexOf("_") + 1, 8);
}
Is there any better option of achieving the same?
I am basically looking for standard practice.
I am using C#3.0 and dotnet framework 3.5
Thanks
I am having trouble getting fancybox to display its corresponding images on a website that I'm building http://www.nomadicdrift.com/test/kaniwa#events . It's a custom one page portfolio theme that I set up on the WordPress platform.
If you follow the link to the events section you will see 1 figure item in a gallery like position. I have this image set up to work as a fancybox gallery, but when you click on it, it opens up the fancybox interface but does not place a image in the frame, even though it should. So this is the problem...the images do not show up in fancybox and instead I see just the frame.
Here is the html that I'm displaying:
<figure>
<a class="fancybox" data-fancybox-type="Fashion Show de Paris, France" href="http://www.nomadicdrift.com/test/kaniwa/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/NM2.jpg">
<img class="attachment-evento wp-post-image" width="231" height="191" title="NM" alt="NM" src="http://www.nomadicdrift.com/test/kaniwa/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/NM2-231x191.jpg">
</a>
<figcaption>
<a class="fancybox" data-fancybox-type="Fashion Show de Paris, France" href="http://www.nomadicdrift.com/test/kaniwa/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/CEDESAN.jpg"> </a>
<h4>Fashion Show de Paris, France</h4>
</figcaption>
</figure>
I'm not going to bore you with the PHP that I used to get that output because I think the problem lies elsewhere.
***I have tried to set up a simple standard fancybox gallery on the site also, but it gives me thes same problem, leading me to believe that the problem is deeper than the html markup. I have also successfully used this same markup for a one thumbnail fancybox gallery on another site.
I thought maybe it was due to some conflict in the .js files I'm using. I tried uninstalling all of my plugins/addons (which aren't too many) one by one and still had the same result. I have all of my personal javascript in the functions.js file, which is where I call the fancybox plugin using the standard $("a.fancybox").fancybox();.
I have installed this plugin before on other sites and have searched extensively for an answer, so any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Sean
I'm trying to create a grouped table view with two sections. For the first section I would like the width to be only half the screen. For the second section it would be the standard width. Also, next to the first section I would like to put a button.
How is this done?
Thanks!
Hi All,
Is there any way to get CVS e-mail notifications to inlude links to my ViewCVS server where clicking a link could bring up the diff ?
Currently my loginfo file just has entries like this
^installation cat | /usr/bin/Mail -s "[cvs-update installation]" [email protected]
The e-mails we all then get (Afairly standard I imagine) contain the commit message and list of files changed.
Cheers,
Ro
I read that MSVC is not fully compilant to the ISO C++ standard (German Wikipedia and several Tech sites).
In which ways isn't C++ standards compilant?
What is currently the best way to code a (semi complicated) website that uses html, css, javascript and some server stuff (php?)? Would you code most of it by hand, use a visual editor for certains parts, are there standard quality editors nowadays? How do web developers go about doing this?
Should I use ISO 639-1 (2-letter abbreviation) or ISO 639-2 (3 letter abbrv) to store the user's language? Both are official standards, but which is the de facto standard in the development community? I think ISO 639-1 would be easier to remember, and is probably more popular for that reason, but thats just a guess.
The site I'm building will have a separate site for the US, Brazil, Russia, China, & the UK.

Hi all,
simple question regarding property value inheritance in UserControls.
If i create a UserControl, it has some standard properties like Background, BorderBrush and BorderThickness.
Within that UserControl i have a border. I want to know, if i dont specify any set value or binding for the property BorderBrush of that border, will it automatically inherit the value of BorderBrush from the parent control?
Thanks!
Hi,
Is it possible to generate a proxy class from WSDL and use the proxy class for other communication protocol?
For example, my application generate the new proxy class and then use this class as a standard for sending request and receiving response messages on TCP, JMS, etc.
Thanks
I need to build Boost with a non-standard set of flags (due to a conflict between Boost threading and C++/CLI). I'm adding the required flag (/clr) using CXXFLAGS, but this flag conflicts with the Boost default /EHs flag (/clr implies /EHa which is incompatible with /EHs), so that needs to be suppressed. Is there a mechanism like CXXFLAGS to suppress a default Boost flag or must I edit all of the compiler specification files by hand?
Some people are saying " stack variable store its value in HEAP ", and others saying " stack variable store store its value in DATA segment". I am totally confused with these conflict answers.
Where exactly static variable stores?. I am expecting an answer with standard reference ( text books, or good author tutorial).
In many projects, I check out the complete repository and have then the standard directory structure:
project/
branches/
tags/
trunk/
If I do an svn up project, it's all fine with the branches and trunk folders, but, of course, the tags folder is updated, too, and filled with (mostly) lots of tagged versions that are of no value for my work and only occupy disk space.
How can I except the tags folder from an svn update? Especially, how can I do this locally only, that is, without committing that back to the repository, as a solution with the svn:ignore keyword would do?
All my previous projects have had this workflow on Contact pages
User submits form
Controller gets $_POST details
Controller validates details (and sets error messages if necessary)
Controller sends email
Controller redirects to thanks page
Is this the standard workflow?
I used to validate everything in controllers, and then did some more reading and they recommended against it. Therefore, should I send the $_POST details to a helper type object and let it do all the work (validation/sending)?
