  • Create fulltext index on a VIEW

    Is it possible to create a full text index on a VIEW? If so, given two columns column1 and column2 on a VIEW, what is the SQL to get this done? The reason I'd like to do this is I have two very large tables, where I need to do a FULLTEXT search of a single column on each table and combine the results. The results need to be ordered as a single unit. Suggestions? EDIT: This was my attempt at creating a UNION and ordering by each statements scoring.   • Create two semi-transparent images that when stacked produce the target image

    Due to CSS limitations I am forced to stack to semi-transparent images on my website. I won't go into detail regarding the CSS since if I can get this question answered the problem is moot. Anyway, I would like to modify image A in the GIMP such that it will look like it did originally after being stacked on top of image B. Both image A and image B have their opacities set to 50%. Image B is a solid color throughout, whereas image A has some minor details such as a gradient.     hi everyone, I'm doing an assignment for my Data Structures class. we were asked to to study linear probing with load factors of .1, .2 , .3, ...., and .9. The formula for testing is: The average probe length using linear probing is roughly Success-- ( 1 + 1/(1-L)**2)/2 or Failure-- (1+1(1-L))/2. we are required to find the theoretical using the formula above which I did(just plug the load factor in the formula), then we have to calculate the empirical (which I not quite sure how to do). here is the rest of the requirements **For each load factor, 10,000 randomly generated positive ints between 1 and 50000 (inclusive) will be inserted into a table of the "right" size, where "right" is strictly based upon the load factor you are testing. Repeats are allowed. Be sure that your formula for randomly generated ints is correct. There is a class called Random in java.util. USE it! After a table of the right (based upon L) size is loaded with 10,000 ints, do 100 searches of newly generated random ints from the range of 1 to 50000. Compute the average probe length for each of the two formulas and indicate the denominators used in each calculationSo, for example, each test for a .5 load would have a table of size approximately 20,000 (adjusted to be prime) and similarly each test for a .9 load would have a table of approximate size 10,000/.9 (again adjusted to be prime). The program should run displaying the various load factors tested, the average probe for each search (the two denominators used to compute the averages will add to 100), and the theoretical answers using the formula above. .** how do I calculate the empirical success?

    i'm trying to insert an image in a div container using css and html, but it doesn't display any image. html code: <div id="wrapper"> <div id="quoteContainer"> <span class="start_img"></span> </div> </div> css: .start_img { background: url(image/img1.png); border: dotted 2px black; width:200px; height:20px; } apart from the img, not even the border shows. i tried using the <img> tag in html to insert the image inside the div, that doesn't work either. is there anything wrong with the code?

    I have a SQL Server database with an Apartment table (which has columns FloorNum and BuildingID) and an ApartmentBuilding table (with column NumFloors). Is there any way to set up a constraint (using the SQL Server UI) to check that Apartment.FloorNum is greater than ApartmentBuilding.NumFloors? I tried this: FloorNum > ApartmentBuilding.NumFloors but now I realize that I somehow have to join the columns on the BuildingID, but I have no idea how to do that within a constraint.     Hi! Is it smart to keep arrays in table columns? More precisely I am thinking of the following schema which to my understanding violates normalization: create table Permissions( GroupID int not null default(-1), CategoryID int not null default(-1), Permissions varchar(max) not null default(''), constraint PK_GroupCategory primary key clustered(GroupID,CategoryID) ); and this: create table Permissions( GroupID int not null default(-1), CategoryID int not null default(-1), PermissionID int not null default(-1), constraint PK_GroupCategory primary key clustered(GroupID,CategoryID) ); UPD: Forgot to mention, in the scope of this concrete question we will consider that the "fetch rows that have permission X" won't be performed, instead all the lookups will be made by GroupID and CategoryID only Thoughts?   • IE7,8 Alpha PNG fade

    Does anyone know what is causing this issue? http://i.imgur.com/z1pzh.png The div in question has a solid 1x1 alpha opaque png repeating in its background-image property, and it's supposed to be all one bg color, not that fading effect. It doesn't appear in FF, Opera or Chrome. If you need more details, I can provide some CSS, but I assure you the CSS is in order. If someone doesn't just out-and-out know why this is happening, they more than likely won't find an answer looking in the code.

  • Problem with IE when using display:block for links

    This is my HTML: <div id="links"> <a href="">Link 1</a> <a href="">Link 2</a> <a href="">Link 3</a> <a href="">Link 4</a> </div> And these are the CSS styles: #links { position: absolute; border: 1px solid #000; } #links a { display: block; } #links a:hover { background-color: #CCC; } This displays a list of links, the problem is that in IE, I can only click a link by directly clicking the text link, which is not the case with other browsers (where you can click anywhere whether the text link or anywhere else as long as it's in the link block), is there any fix for that (with only CSS, no javascript)? Please note that I don't want to specify a width for the links or the div.

  • Oracle DBMS_PROFILER only shows Anonymous in the results tables

    I am new to DBMS_PROFILER. All the examples I have seen use a simple top-level procedure to demonstrate the use of the profiler, and from there get all the line numbers etc. I deploy all code in packages, and I am having great difficulty getting my profile session to populate the plsql_profiler_units with useful data. Most of my runs look like this: RUNID RUN_COMMENT UNIT_OWNER UNIT_NAME SECS PERCEN ----- ----------- ----------- -------------- ------- ------ 5 Test <anonymous> <anonymous> .00 2.1 Profiler 5 Test <anonymous> <anonymous> .00 2.1 Profiler 5 Test <anonymous> <anonymous> .00 2.1 Profiler I have just embedded the calls to the dbms_profiler.start_profiler, flush_data and stop_profiler as per all the examples. The main difference is that my code is in a package, and calls in to other package. Do you have to profile every single stored procedure in your call stack? If so that makes this tool a little useless! I have checked http://www.dba-oracle.com/t_plsql_dbms_profiler.htm for hints, among other similar sites.

    Hello, I am trying to do what I believe is called a join query. First, in a MySQL table called "login," I want to look up what "loginid" is in the record where "username" equals $profile. (This will be just one record / row in the MySQL table). Then, I want to take that "loginid" and look up all rows / records in a different MySQL table called "submission," and pull data that have that "loginid." This could possibly be more than one record / row. How do I do this? The code below doesn't seem to work.     Hi everyone... While looking for a way to temporarily save the search results when a user searches for a hotel free between particular dates i came across temporary tables. But certain questions are not answered even in mysql manual.... like... Will the temporary table be unique for each user that executes the script...? Or will it be overwritten when two different users run the script at the same time...? When will the table be destroyed..? When the user closes the browser window or just navigates away from the page in which the script runs...? Thanks for your clarifications...

Or in these cases we are better off using the global temporary table?

    I am trying to make a css layout that looks like this http://oi53.tinypic.com/o0v0vp.jpg The CSS term for this type of layout is known as the "holy grail" I think. The problem I am facing is that when I use layouts and solutions I find online I do not get them to work properly as I want them to. What I am trying to do is make a page that, regardless of content, will have the footer at the bottom of the browser and the columns stretching down to it. So far I have only seen pages that have the footer placed where the content stop, the result is some blank space under the footer. If anyone could help me out on this it would be greatly appreciated!
