Is there any way to vertically align an image element generated by a "content" property as part of a ":before" selector, next to adjacent inline text? In other words, I have <a href="..." class="facebook">Share on Facebook</a> As I don't want to pollute my markup with unnecessary IMG elements that only have to do with style, I resort to adding a small icon to the left of the link, via CSS (except that it does not align properly, hence the question): a.facebook:before { content: url(/style/facebook-logo.png); } I tried adding a "vertical-align: middle" (one of the most notoriously difficult aligning concepts to grasp in CSS, in my opinion, is that very property) but it has no effect. The logo aligns with text baseline, and I don't want to hardcode pixel offsets, because frankly text size differs from browser to browser, etc. Is there any solution for this? Thanks.

i have a class named cv,and a class named university, and each user that completes his cv, should choose a University he studyes at. My problem is: one student can study at one or 2 or three universities, or may be a user that is not student. I need to take this data into a form, and i use ModelForm. The data from the Cv class, and from the University class in the same form, and the user can add one or more universities, or no university. (in the same form) How should i do it? Should i use ModelForm? if i have a foreign key in the CV class, and the user is not a student (so he is at zero universities), i may get an referencial integrity error. thanks a lot

Hey, all. I'm doing my own syntax highlighter for Javascript and CSS, and I've run into an issue with Internet Explorer (big surprise). I grab all the contents of a code.block tag (example below) using innerHTML, and .split("\n") that result to get each line by itself. This works wonderfully except in IE. I have tried using innerText and .split("\r\n") also without success. Can anyone recommend a solution? Creating a Better Tabbed Interface in Django

I've been trying to create a tabbed interface using Django. The current effort (which works fine) is having each template have the header hard-coded in, with the selected tab given the "selected" CSS attribute. Of course, this is a massive violation of DRY and I'm looking to remedy it. My current idea is adding a jQuery script to the page that looks at all the tabs and sets one to "selected" if it's text matches the beginning of the title for the page. Is there a better way to do this without using JavaScript and just pure CSS?

Above is how my report looks, the part in yellow in hidden, and is only shown when the user clicks the + icon on the [name]. the result is basically the percentage difference from the Past [X] - [TERM] i.e there is a dropdown with, [weeks, months, days, hours] and a textbox of qty. so choosing qty = 4 and term = weeks will delivery a result set spread over 4 weeks based on the parent result sets date range and name ID I wish to populate here the number of rows, dependant on the value set by the user and the data will be from a dataset. Is it possible to dynamically add more sub rows ( like on row data bound ) if my first row is ID 123 [name], is it possible to send this value [123] to a dataset in order that all subrows are only relevant to the name with ID of 123? this is my first bash at SSRS so please no half cut answers, that just lead to more questions about the answer given :-) if this makes sense. IE displays a default scrollbar on the page, which appears even if the content is too short to require a scrollbar. The typical way to remove this scrollbar (if not needed), is to add this to your css: HTML { height: 100%; overflow: auto; } I'm trying to do the same thing in javascript (without requiring that in my CSS), but i can't seem to find a way to get access to the html element. I know i can access the body element with document.body, but that doesn't seem to be sufficient, i need the wrapping html element. Any tips?

Strange margin-behaviour with Sifr spans in link (screens)

I'm making a menu and it's supposed to look like picture nr 1 on this link. However, at this moment, it looks like picture nr 2. There's no logic in this behaviour, since all three elements have the same css-attributes. Moreover, let's change the word "Reiki" to "Psychotherapie" and see what happens... (picture nr 3) For some reason the word "Reiki" ignores certain attributes. This is not a problem when Sifr is turned off. I guess I'll need some extra CSS to solve this (messing with paddings, heights or margins on that specific element doesn't give any result. It just won't budge). Unless someone knows a more elegant solution?

I have two models, users and themes, that I'm currently joining in a HABTM association in a themes_users table. Basically, after a user creates a new theme, it becomes available to other users to select for their own use. However, only the original creator of the theme should have the ability to edit it. So, I need to have some other kind of association to handle that relationship, something like an created_by_id field in the theme. In this way, the user model acts as two different roles: they can be an implementer of a theme AND/OR the owner of the theme. The implementer relationship is handled by the themes_users join table; the question is: What is the right way to handle this secondary association? Do I need to make users polymorphic and then make the created_by_id reference an "owner"? Or is there something easier? Thanks so much for your help!

The Background I love responsive CSS grids. I hate Bootstrap's complex class names. I fell in love with Foundations human readable class names. The Problem With Foundation 4, they have changed four columns to large-4 small-4 columns and in my opinion this makes the HTML markup less clear. This style of CSS class names is exactly why I switched from Bootstrap to Foundation. The Question What advantage is gained by Foundation 4's Grid in making this change? It seems that you can have a different grid layout on smaller screens via media queries, but I can't think of a design that would require this. Note: I've been focused on native mobile development and therefore I may be missing out on recent best practices.

Need to dynamically-generate a "sticky note" text

Working on a website that has an image of a sticky note which will change text somewhat frequently (every month or so) as new "todo" items are created on it. Font I'm currently using is not Web Safe and the text is slightly angled to match the skew of the sticky note as well. Now I'm a pragmatist, and in situations like this I would normally secede defeat and opt for something more CSS/HTML practical. But no more! I'm falling a bit behind on what's going on with HTML5, CSS3, PNG graphics, Flash (ugh), and/or any other rich visuals. I'm decent with PHP/CSS/JS (jquery), have dabbled in Flash/actionscript too. My question is: what tools/method should I be looking at here?

I am creating a users table using JDBC and mysql, each user has a permissions list that comprises Integer values, I am wondering if I should use an array for storing these values and then have only 1 record for this user in the table, or simply create a new table that comprises 2 columns: user ID and permissions, and then have multiple records for each user that specify the user name in one columns and one permission value in the second column, the second option seems to be redundant since a permission value is a simple object that isn't associated with any other objects (like a student and courses list for example, because the course is associated with many other objects, like grade, teacher, etc, so in this case it is natural to have multiple records), but the first one seems to be a bit unnatural to me, so if someone has experience with these things and direct me? thanks
