  Hello everyone. Please can you help with a guideline on this requirement? I have this requirement that some visitors to my site would need to login and be provided access to an Accounts page. This page will contain a list of links added by the site administrator which just lead to pages with specific contents. Every page/link is unique to a user(Account). • A web application that uses someone else's mail server?

  I'm building a web application, call it http://mywebapp.com, where a user should be able to create a newsletter and email it to everyone in his user account's contact list. So he can check mark all his friends, select an html template, fill in the body content, and send. The only catch to this is that after the user sends the email, the recipient must NOT be allowed to trace the source of the email back to http://mywebapp.com. The reason for this condition is because the user is a "reseller" of my business who wants to appear as if he's an independent business. If liability issues arise due to the reseller's unduly usage, I do not want to be caught up in the legal issues. Hence, I do not want anything about my business or technology to be traceable back to me by newsletter recipients. What's the best way to achieve this?

  Hello everyone, I am writing a text-based Scrabble implementation for a college project. The specification states that the user's position input must be read from single line, like this: Coordinates of the word's first letter and orientation (<A – P> <1 – 15> <H ou V>): G 5 H G 5 H is the user's input for that particular example. The order, as shown, must be char int char. What is the best way to read the user's input? cin >> row >> column >> orientation will cause crashes if the user screws up. A getline and a subsequent string parser are a valid solution, but represent a bit of work. Is there another, better, way to do this, that I am missing? Thanks for your time!

  Hello everyone, I want to find the largest square in the number, but I am stuck at some point. I would really appreciate some suggestions. This is what I've done so far: I take the number on the input, factorize into prime numbers, and put the sequence of prime numbers to ArrayList. Numbers are sorted, in a sense, thus the numbers in the sequence are increasing. For example, 996 is 2 2 3 83 1000 is 2 2 2 5 5 5 100000 is 2 2 2 2 2 5 5 5 5 5 My idea now is to count number of occurrences of each elements in the sequence, so if the number of occurrences is divisible by two, then this is the square. In this way, I can get another sequence, where the right most element divisible by two is the largest square. What is the most efficient way to count occurrences in the ArrayList? Or is there any better way to find the largest square? Many thanks in advance!

  Hello everyone, I have a WCF web service that is deployed at IIS. Part of the web service is to validate the inputs using EntLib 4.1 For ex, the string values can be of specific length and so on. In case of the validation being failed a fault exception is raised and the service is supposed to write the message in log file. How do I go about creating the log file to a location that can be configured from a config file. Basically how do we write messages from IIS (since the service is hosted at IIS, I am assuming that that will be the source !!!!) Regards.

  So, everyone is really used to the errors that PHP gives you. They look kind of like this: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 2 bytes) in /path/to/file(437) on line 21 My question is, do you put in the time to make your error pages more useful? I find that I am able to debug a lot faster using my own error page: I find this to be a lot better than the PHP errors because it gives me a stack trace, the usual error message, along with the actual location of the error, and more. Also, are there any downsides from creating your own development error pages. Obviously you wouldn't want to have a user see this page, but what about during development?

• Should the name of my classes begin with 'Q' in Qt?

  Hello Everyone, When I first started working with Qt, it was extremely annoying that every class has a name beginning with 'Q', but now I've got used to it. I'm using Qt Creator, and it highlights code quite well. However, it only highlights class names beginning with 'Q'. And it highlights everything beginning with 'Q' even if there is no such type. It doesn't highlight custom class names. That makes me wonder, should I also begin all my class names with 'Q'? Or at least the reusable ones? (I mean, those that I put in a class library, or reuse in another app.) I've seen several places where they named their classes this way. Is it a good thing? I found this page about Qt's naming conventions, but it doesn't deal with this question. Also, I don't understand why Qt doesn't use namespaces.

• How to batch retrieve documents with mongoDB?

  Hello everyone, I have an application that queries data from a mongoDB using the mongoDB C# driver something like this: public void main() { foreach (int i in listOfKey) { list.add(getObjectfromDB(i); } } public myObject getObjFromDb(int primaryKey) { document query = new document(); query["primKey"] = primaryKey; document result= mongo["myDatabase"]["myCollection"].findOne(query); return parseObject(result); } On my local (development) machine to get 100 object this way takes less than a second. However, I recently moved the database to a server on the internet, and this query takes about 30 seconds to execute for the same number of object. Furthermore, looking at the mongoDB log, it seems to open about 8-10 connections to the DB to perform this query. So what I'd like to do is have the query the database for an array of primaryKeys and get them all back at once, then do the parsing in a loop afterwards, using one connection if possible. How could I optimize my query to do so? Thanks, --Michael

• Safari 4.0.5 will not play any HTML5 (H.264) video

  The html5test.com tells me that my browser does not support the <video> element, and when I try example page, I get the fallback message, usually "Your browser does not support HTML5 video." I know this should work in Safari. I am on Windows 7, 64-bit (running 32-bit Safari). Video works in Safari for everyone else in the office. (Windows 7 setup exactly like mine, Vista, OSX.) I have tries uninstalling, deleting all user preferences, and reinstalling. Anything else I should try?

  I'm trying to read metadata attached to arbitrary PDFs: title, author, subject, and keywords. Is there a PHP library, preferably open-source, that can read PDF metadata? If so, or if there isn't, how would one use the library (or lack thereof) to extract the metadata? To be clear, I'm not interested in creating or modifying PDFs or their metadata, and I don't care about the PDF bodies. I've looked at a number of libraries, including FPDF (which everyone seems to recommend), but it appears only to be for PDF creation, not metadata extraction.

  I am trying to loop through an existing table (tblSalesOrder) and I need to run through every line (where they relate to that particular customer) and write each line into an SQL statement and execute it. What is the easiest way to go about this procedure? The number of lines will need to be counted prior to data being written via SQL to a QuickBooks database. I can code something similar in php using the code below, but I am unsure how to convert this into a VBA friendly format: $sql_count = "SELECT count(*) FROM tblSalesOrder WHERE Customer='cust_number'"; execute_query($sql_count) When the above value is greater than 0, the vba code should loop through the queries. • PHP: Loop through text file and isolate lines which a specific "starting point"

  Hi everyone, I’m trying to reduce some editing time within some textfiles where there approximately are 10.000 lines of text, but I only need around 200 or some. The text file relies on a almost specific pattern but it deviates from time to time but my “focus” in order to select the right line to keep is, that the line always starts with: z3455 and then have a variable afterwards, e.g.: z3455 http://url.com/data1/data1.1/data1.3/ (342kb) I have an algorithm to capture the URL and its content but now I need some way to loop through the text file, deleting all lines except does that starts with z3455 and then “push” them together so they are listed underneath each other. I’ve tried different approaches for this in PHP but can’t seem to find a correct function. I can “isolate” a specific line number but when it deviates I can’t use this approach fully. I hope that someone can help me, either by providing the code or knocking me in the right direction to how I’ll solve this problem. Thanks in advance Sincerely - Mestika

  I keep reading how everyone states to return XmlDocument when you want to return XML. Is there a way to return raw XML as a string? I have used many web services (written by others) that return string and the string contains XML. If you return XmlDocument how is that method consumed by users that are not on .Net? What is the method to just return the raw XML as string without it having being wrapped with <string></string> Thanks!

The code is something like this (solution list is a *vector): void SolutionSet::sort(Comparator &comparator) { std::sort(solutionsList_->begin(), solutionsList_->end(), &comparator::compare); } The comparator param is a Comparator´s child class instance , and the compare method is virtual at Comparator class and implemented by all Comparator's child classes. And i want to use that function as a comparator function at std:sort(). Is this possible? If it is, can someone tell me how? Because with the previous code, it doesn't work.   Hello All, Is it possible to switch HTML on click? I have an index page with a large image on the front. Under the image there is four links. When the cursor rolls over the link I would like a small tool tip to appear. Then when the clicks the link I want the large Image to change and some extra HTML to appear over it.   Hi Everyone, Can someone tell me why this unit test that checks for exceptions fails? Obviously my real test is checking other code but I'm using Int32.Parse to show the issue. Obviously I'm trying to test for this exception and I think I'm missing something in my syntax. • Remembering Form information

  Hi everyone! I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I feel my situation is a little different... I have a huge form (like 50 questions involving checkboxes, drop downs, text boxes and textareas) When a user submits a form and the validation page throws an error, is there an easy way to keep the info they entered? My intitial form is on form.php and then the form action is form_posted.php, before anything is run on form_posted.php I have my validation code which sends the user back to form.php with an error number (eg. form.php?error=3) if there was a problem with any in particular. This is done with header("form.php?error=3") so on form.php do the posted variables exist? even tho the page wasn't specifically sent with any posted variables. Also if this is the case, is it completely secure to be making the value of a textbox what it was before? like <input type="text" value="php echo $_POSTED["username"] ?>">

  We have an existing Subversion repository that uses LDAP to manage users/passwords. There are some new users who we would like to provide read-only access to SVN. I did some Google searches and found a way to open up read-only access to anonymous users, but this is not what we want. We do not want to open up SVN to everyone. We still want to control login through LDAP, but we would like to prevent certain named users from being able to add/edit/delete. I am assuming this can be done with a hook (pre-commit?), but I have no experience writing hooks. Can someone show me or point me to an example of how to do this?

I have the following code $(document).ready(function() { $("#myTextArea").focus(function() { $("#myTextArea").animate({ "height": "75px"}, "normal"); return false; }); to expand a textbox when it gets focus. The expand occurs, however the blinking cursor disapears, at least in Firefox! Edited: The textarea is still focused, and i can type on it. Why does this happen? Is there a way to show it again? There is mutual agreement between the developers and Product Managers that there should be a business case behind every feature the development team builds. My question is, what is an effective way to make a business case for platform-level features that have higher up front cost but will provide long term benefits? For example, the development team would like to implement a plug-in framework. There is the higher up-front cost to implement a plug-in framework but delivering the subsequent features as plug-ins will be cheaper in the long run. This is obvious to everyone including the Product Managers. Is there a standard/simple way to express the cost-benefits? Is there a simple way to visualize it with a graph?
