• Redmine & Git integration

  I am considering moving from svn and Trac to git and Redmine. I'm just wondering what everyone's experience is of this. How well does git integrate with Redmine? I'm pretty set on my decision to change from svn to git - our distributed work, and need to frequently branch and merge would make life considerably easier with git. But we would possibly need to split things into multiple projects for this. From what I have been reading, git and multiple projects don't integrate too smoothly with Trac. That aside, in my investigations into git, Redmine has also caught my attention, and some of the features look very useful. However, I haven't found as many user experiences of git and Redmine as what I'd like (possibly due to my lack of searching skills...) and so would like to hear your opinions and examples.

• PHP Readfile() number of bytes when user aborted

  Hi Everyone, I'm using a PHP script to stream a live video (i.e. a file which never ends) from a remote source. The output is viewed in VLC, not a web browser. I need to keep a count of the number of bytes transferred. "\n"); fclose($handle); } ?> However it appears that when the user presses the stop button, logThis() is never called, even though I've put in ignore_user_abort(true); Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?   Hi everyone, I'm using jquery $.getJSON to retrieve list of cities. Everything works fine, but I'm from Estonia (probably most of you don't know much about this country =D) and we are using some characters like õ, ü. ä, ö. When I pass letters like this to callback function, I keep getting empty strings. I've tried to base64 encode(server-side)-decode(jquery base64 plugin) strings (i thought it was a good idea as long as I can compress pages with php, so I don't have to worry about bandwidth), but in this way I end up with some random chinese symbols. What would be the best workaround for this problem. Thank you.

• Pattern for iPhone background loading during init?

  Hi everyone, I'm currently kicking off a background thread to do some REST queries in my app delegate's didFinishLaunchingWithOptions. This thread creates some objects and populates the model as the rest of the app continues to load (because I don't block, and didFinishLaunchingWithOptions returns YES). I also put up a loading UIViewController 'on top' of the main view that I tear down after the background initialization is complete. My problem is that I need to notify the first view (call it the Home view) that the model is ready, and that it should populate itself. The trick is that the background download could have finished before Home.viewDidAppear is called, or any of the other Home.initX methods. I'm having difficulty synchronizing all of this and I've thought about it long enough that it feels like I'm barking up the wrong tree. Are there any patterns here for this sort of thing? I'm sure other apps start by performing lengthy operations with loading screens :) Thanks!

  Hi all, Does anyone know how to watch a variable in calling function. For example: C#: void fn a() { int myVar=9; b(); } b() { Throw new Exception(); } How can I watch myVar when I get the exception in function b?? I have a really big recursive function with in a loop and get an exception in one iteration. I don't know which iteration it belongs to$%^&*(. The thing I did was to promote my intersted variable to global so I can watch them anywhere. However, I don't think that's a good idea only for debug. Thanks everyone!

• What advantages can I get from learning C++ if I'm mainly a C# Programmer?

  Hello, Recently I've started to notice a lot of smirks and generally rude comments whenever I mention C#. Everyone I talk to either says learn Python or learn C++. Python is a nice language, I get it. But I don't find much use for it right now (for my use cases), and C++ I heard is a faster language (not sure). So my question is this, what advantage can I get from learning C++ (besides the knowledge and expansion of my horizons), when I mainly program in C#. If anyone can make a legitimate claim, I'll for sure look into learning the language because let's face it, I trust you guys. Thanks so much for all the help.

• Working effectively with unit tests / Anyone tried the in-assembly approach?

  I'm trying to re-introduce unit testing into my team as our current coverage is very poor. Our system is quite large 40+ projects/assemblies. We current use a project named [SystemName].Test.csproj were all the test code is dumped and organised to represent the namespaces using folders. This approach is not very scalable and makes it difficult to find tests. I've been thinking about added a Tests folder to each project, this would put the unit tests "in the developers face" and make them easy to find. The downside is the Production release code would contain references to nunit, nmocks as well as the test code and test data.... Has anyone tried this approach? How is everyone else working with unit tests on large projects? Having a Tests project per "real" project/assembly would introduce too many new projs. Thanks in advance

Can anyone please tell me, How to get the HWND of a buttons/combobox/etc (not normal buttons in a window) if I know (only) the Id of it ? How to obtain the HBITMAP if I know the id of the resource ? How to set the bitmap to the controller ? SendDlgItemMessageW(hWnd, nId, BM_SETIMAGE, IMAGE_BITMAP, (LPARAM)hBitmap); This isn't working for toolbars, isn't it ? • The emulator isn't showing the XML contents

  I have been reading Google's android tutorial (link added in the first comment) and I got a problem... In the tutorial they explain the XML elements (EditText and Button) and in the end they say how to tun the program to see the button + the text field. The problem is, that the emulator doesn't show them.. just a black screen. I even tried adding this line to the onCreate function - System.out.println("Hello World!"); but still the emulator is showing only black screen.. • SQL Server database synchronization issues

  Hello everyone, I have two SQL Server 2008 Enterprise databases (on two machines), and one of the databases is master database and another database is slave database (master database is read/write, slave database is readonly). I want to have daily update from master database to slave database (i.e. new data inserted/updated/deleted in master database could be synchronized to slave database daily or manually controlled). I only need to sync several tables of the databases, not all of the database. Any solutions or documents? thanks in advance, George

  Hi everyone, I am using PreparedStatement with Timestamp in where clause: PreparedStatement s=c.prepareStatement("select utctimestamp from t where utctimestamp>=? and utctimestamp<?"); s.setTimestamp(1, new Timestamp(1273017600000L)); //2010-05-05 00:00 GMT s.setTimestamp(2, new Timestamp(1273104000000L)); //2010-05-06 00:00 GMT The result I get is different, when I have different time zones on the client computer. Is this a bug in Oracle jdbc? or correct behavior? The parameter is Timestamp, and I expected that no time conversions will be done on the way. The database column type is DATE, but I also checked it with TIMESTAMP column type with the same results. Is there a way to achieve correct result? I cannot change default timezone in the the whole application to UTC. Thanks for your help

  Hi Everyone, At my site - jasondaydesign.com. I'm using easylistsplitter.js. I designed it this way, because I actually wanted a masonry.js style layout but I couldn't find a way to filter divs. So I made the switch to lists, and found a plugin that allowed me to have a masonry style layout. Unfortunately, I have tried several list filters including: filterprojects.js and a netuts tutorial on a filterable portfolio. Unfortunately, both work, but only on the first column. I can't seem to figure out a way to have a filter plugin work on all list items that have been split by easylistsplitter.js Thoughts?

I cant understand how the second insert gets it's values. Is there anyone out there who can help me out with this?

I defined a table in my database wich resume the profil and the url permitted like that: id_profil :1 url : http://localhost/...xyz.jsp id page 1 Now I am trying to let the menu modified appropriately to the id_profil of the logged user.   Hello everyone, I have two servlets: LoginServlet and MailServlet. LoginServlet queries a mysql table using jdbc to get a string(eMail). What I want is to forward this string to MailServlet which in turn will send an email to that e-mail ID sent by LoginServlet. My question is how do I call and send the variable eMail to MailServlet, from LoginServlet? I thought of creating an instance of the MailServlet as : MailServlet servlet = new MailServlet(); And then use the servlet object to call the function doGet() in MailServlet. But I am feeling that there is some error in this as this is not the right way to call a servlet. So how do I call and pass a variable to MailServlet?

I have a javascript that edits a hidden field in my jsf page: <h:inputHidden id="data" value="" /> and when I click on "Submit" I would like to get the new value of this HTML field that was modified by the javascript. I've looked into FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getRequestParameterMap().get("data"); But that seems only to work if it is passed in as an <f:param/>. Is there a way i can get the value through a bean call?

• How we run a .NET 32-bit application in a 64-bit Windows server?

  We are installing a third party application in one of our 64-bit Windows servers. This application apparently was build with the compiler option set to choose the platform at run time. When we run the application it gives us an error: System.BadImageFormatException: is not a valid Win32 application. I have seen in MSDN forums that in order to fix this error I have to build the application set to 32-bit, and that way it will run fine on a 64-bit server. I check on other StackOverflow links Other Posts. How to get around this situation? For everyone that wants to know more information: The application is running fine in a 32-bit test server. IIS version 6 using SQL Server Express 2005 On the Web Service Extension there are both Framework64\v2.0.50727\aspnet_isapi.dll and Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_isapi.dll

(checker.php echo out how many points you've got in a span class vispoints1). Now isnt there a smarter method doing this, instead of sending requests like this all the time.. I mean sites like facebook and that, they dont do like this to check if you e.g got a new friend request? Hope you can help me find a better method examples would be good too.

I have several csv files which are all around a GB or so in size and I need to load them into a an oracle database. While most of my work after loading will be read-only I will need to load updates from time to time. Basically I just need a good tool for loading several rows of data at a time up to my db. Here is what I have found so far: I could use SQL Loader t do a lot of the work I could use Bulk-Insert commands Some sort of batch insert. Using prepared statement somehow might be a good idea. I guess I was wondering what everyone thinks is the fastest way to get this insert done. Any tips?

  Hey everyone, I would appreciate a pointing in the right direction with the problem I'm having. In short, I'm working on an application that will create PDFs using TinyMCE and ColdFusion 8. I have the ability to create a PDF by just entering in text, pictures, etc. However, I want to be able to import an html template and insert it into the TinyMCE . Basically, I have a file directory code snippet that lets me browse through my 'HTMLTemplates' folder, and am able to select an HTML document. Now, I want to be able to take all the code from that selected HTML document and insert it into my TinyMCE box. Any tips on how I might do this, maybe? Thanks!

• GIT vs. Perforce- Two VCS will enter... one will leave.

  So I'm in the process of getting GIT sold at work. First thing I need is to convince everyone that GIT is better at what they're already used to doing. We currently use Perforce.   How do i run ssh-add key sudo hg clone [email protected]/etc/etc but use my ssh keys and not the superusers. Hey everyone, when i use sudo with for example, sudo hg clone [email protected]/etc/etc after i have added a key to my user account it doesnt work. I remember this is because the sudo is ran as the superuser but that user cannot have keys added to it. I remember setting some directive (im using debian) that allowed me to run that command as sudo, but still have my ssh keys taken from my normal user account but i didnt make a note of it at the time.
