  Hi! I want to embed some video into my HTML page. As background I want to use big picture. And above it I want to insert loop video with (i.e.) walking man. So, can I embed video (without flash and any player controls) in page? Can I decode video with transparent background? Is there any codecs which support transparent background (alpha-channel)? • Can I embed video on external sites while still using tokens to protect the content?

  On our own website, it's easy to protect against direct links to our video content by grabbing a token through AJAX and verifying the token through PHP before the file download is started. However I'm also researching how I could provide an embed feature, like YouTube or vimeo etc., without compromising this security feature. The problem is that the embed code I want to provide should look something like <object>...<embed>...</embed></object> -- but I don't know how to grab and append the token to the filename. I mean, I guess I could attach a script that did some gnarly JNOP business, but that's too dirty. I'm using JW Player for the actual video container. Huge thanks to anyone who can help...

• Extract some data from a lot of xml files

  I have cricket player profiles saved in the form of .xml files in a folder. each file has these tags in it <playerid>547</playerid> <majorteam>England</majorteam> <playername>Don</playername> the playerid is same as in .xml (each file is of different size,1kb to 5kb). These are about 500 files. What i need is to extract the playername, majorteam, and playerid from all these files to a list. I will convert that list to XML later. If you know how can i do it directly to XML i will be very thankful.

  I am trying to convert different files to a flash compatible .mp4 file with ffmpeg, but i cant seem to succeed. Off cource the objective is to get the greatest quality with the smallest filesize. So far I have this, that works but it doesnt play in a flash player of some reason, and the result isnt that great, anybody got any tips on how to improve this conversion? ffmpeg -i input.file -f mp4 -vcodec mpeg4 -r 25 -b 560000 -s 610x340 -acodec aac -ac 2 -ab 64 -ar 44100 output.file Would be great the se other peoples experiences with this type of conversion.

  I have a small Bidding system that I'm using for a fantasy auction draft. I'm trying to use the below query to pull up the max bids on each player. However, it's not actually giving me the max bid, it's just giving me the first one entered in to the database. [self.audioPlayer release]; Where do I go from here? Nils are used in a similar fashion throughout the code (and may cause similar problems) - is there a safe way to remove them? I'm new to memory management - how can I discern proper nil usage from bad nil usage?

  I am looking at developing an AI player for a simple game I have created in C#. I will be creating a population of the bots and evolving them over generations. What I was wondering is there any frameworks out there that could be good for this sort of testing / development. Ideally I would like something that I could plug any / some type of games into and say, OK so have a population of X run it over Y generations and chart the results for me. I was having a think about how I would create something that would do this for me and allow me to reuse this later for different AI projects and all I could think of was to have some sort of core code and some interface contracts that the game and AI would use so that the server can script it. What are your thoughts, does anyone have any practical experience of this sort of thing?

• AS3 Camera denied if loaded in a parent SWF

  Hi, I have a child SWF file that has the Camera functionality. It works fine if I run the child SWF by itself. However, when I load the child SWF into a parent SWF, the Camera functionality does not work. Doing some tracing it says that Camera access is denied. That happens without me even clicking on the deny button and in fact the usual security popup does not even show up. I have added import flash.system.Security; flash.system.Security.allowDomain("*"); to both parent and child SWF. What am I missing? It's Flash 10 player. Thank you, Tee

• Issues rendering image in flash via Context.Response.Write C# asp.

  I am having an issue rendering images in flash via a character array. I am sending it from a webhandler via Context.Response.Write as a Base64CharacterArray. It functions 100% properly in a windows environment, however when using a Mac the image data is not retrieved correctly causing the image to appear incorrectly. It does not affect the data,however as it is rendered properly in a player which accesses the data via a webservice. I am at the end of my rope on this one. Anything will help. • How should i build my GUI in Qt ?

  I am wondering which way is the best to start building a GUI+SOFT in Qt. I am trying to build a sound media player based on a MVC pattern. Until now i have found 3 ways to do so. 1- Should I use a .ui file thanks to Qt designer, is it flexible enough ? 2- Should I use QML to make the design than integrate it to a C++ development ? 3- Should I just start from scratch and do it by hand without Qt Designer and using Qt library ? • Good code architecture for this problem?

  I am developing a space shooter game with customizable ships. You can increase the strength of any number of properties of the ship via a pair of radar charts*. Internally, i represent each ship as a subclassed SpaceObject class, which holds a ShipInfo that describes various properties of that ship. I want to develop a relatively simple API that lets me feed in a block of relative strengths (from minimum to maximum of what the radar chart allows) for all of the ship properties (some of which are simplifications of the underlying actual set of properties) and get back a ShipInfo class i can give to a PlayerShip class (that is the object that is instantiated to be a player ship). I can develop the code to do the transformations between simplified and actual properties myself, but i would like some recommendations as to what sort of architecture to provide to minimize the pain of interacting with this translator code (i.e. no methods with 5+ arguments or somesuch other nonsense). Does anyone have any ideas? *=not actually implemented yet, but that's the plan.

  I have a big problem. I've made a simple Google Chrome plugin (based on the old Youtube Video Downloader) but I have some problems with it. The first problem is that it won't pop up a new save window on click, but opens a new page with the video in the default Chrome player. The second is, that when the user clicks right click-save, they won't get the video name but a standardized name. Is there any way to make a file save dialog with a specified file save name?

• Communicating from website to desktop application (not vice-versa)

  I am designing an application such that it will have to react to certain actions required by the website, mostly the same way Last.FM client does (if you have used one) The way Last.FM client works is that, it will register a custom protocol in Windows (lastfm://) and on their website, they use that protocol to trigger certain action on the player, e.g.: lastfm://artist//similarartists will actually direct any Last.FM client running to load up similar artists. I would like to do the same thing for my application. Is this a good idea? Is there any good alternatives to send a message from a website to a desktop client in this manner?

• Jquery: How do I fire/play a sound file when I want?

  I have some code that basically inflates a 'balloon' through 15 or so stages and then makes it pop at the 16th stage. (yes, images are changed). What I'm wondering now is if it's possible to use Jquery to play a sound file whenever I reach that 16th stage (or when whatever var reaches whatever value) - in other words...when I want. I've found several jquery sound plugins but they all create this player which I must then click for it to play the file. • Invoking browser on steaming media URLs

  I have a dirt simple little function that launches the blackberry browser on a streaming media file in order to launch the built in media player. Everything works fine but there is this annoying dialog every time from the browser asking me if I want to save or open the file. My answer is always "open" the file so is there a way I can make it default and not bring up the dialog each time?   So I understand this may come across as a open question, but I need away to solve this issue. I can either make the site do ajax request that load the body content, or I can have links that re-loads the whole page. I need the site to be SEO compliant, and I would really like the header to not re-load when the content changes, the reason is that we have a media player that plays live audio. Is there away that if Google BOT or someone without ajax enabled it does the site like normal href but if ajax or javascript allowed do it the ajax way.

  I'm trying to make a 2d shooter game with 3d background. The player and enemies are essentially just quads with textures. The background will be simple 3d polygons with textures and some fog and light. Therefore, I don't need a really powerful 3d library. I tried Unity3D and Torque2D, but I don't like to use their GUI editors. I prefer to work with code. So, is there a cross platform (mainly windows and iPhone) 3d / 2.5d game library, commercial or open source? I assume it will be only limited to c, c++, and object-c due to apple's new ToS.

  Hi! all, I am writing an application which is a kinda video streamer.The client is receiving a video stream using udp socket.Now as I am receiving the stream I want to play it simultaneous.It is different from playing local video file lying in your hard disk in which case it can be as simple as running the file using system("vlc filename").But here many issues are involved like there can be delay in receiving and player will have to wait for the incoming data.I have come to know about using vlc to run a video stream.Can you please elaborate the step for playing the stream using vlc.I am implementing my application in c++. • VB.NET: Force user to use the topmost form

  I'm programming a Minesweeper clone in Visual Studio 2010, with VB.NET, as a Windows Form Application, and I'm having trouble with the Game Won and Game Lost forms. When I show those forms, I want the game form to still be visible, so that the player can see where the mines were, but I don't want the game form to be enabled until the Game Won or Game Lost form is closed. Exactly like Windows Minesweeper does when you win or lose. There aren't any obvious properties for this, as far as I can see, and I've had no luck Googling, I don't know what terms to search. • Missing on-screen keyboard for Flash/Flex web application on Android?

  I have an enterprise Flex web application, served up over https, that runs fine on Flash player 10.0 and beyond from a desktop computer/browser. However, when I run it from my HTC Incredible with Android 2.2 the app loads fine, but there is no on-screen keyboard and so I cannot log in. I can see the blinking cursor inside the username and password text fields. I can switch between them. I can even hit the login button and see an authentication error! According to Adobe this should Just Work. Any ideas? I wanna show off our spanking new app to strangers at the bus stop!
