• Custom HTMLControl derived from HtmlImage control not visible in VS2008 toolbox

  I have a custom control deriving from HtmlImage control which I cant get to show up on toolbox, it says "There are no components in '...\bin\Debug\ImageCustomControl.dll' that can be placed on the toolbox.". • How do I use a command line tool to install .net 4 to IIS

  I'm trying to deploy my WCF RIA services application to our in-house server for testing. I've been following the instructions and comments from this blog site: http://timheuer.com/blog/archive/2009/12/10/tips-to-deploy-ria-services-troubleshoot.aspx At the end someone points to this question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1528324/how-to-solve-a-http-error-404-3-not-found-error I've been trying to run that same tool with .net 4.0 but it keeps giving me an error: [Warning]The HTTP namespace reservation already exists. I am running the version of the exe that I found inside of C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.21006 There is also C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.0\Windows Communication Foundation that has (what I assume is) the same exe in it, and I can use it just fine. I've tried to un-install the 3.0 version before installing the 4.0 version, but I am still getting the same warning and failure. Has anyone successfully done this with .net 4.0?

  In my domain layer all domain objects emit events (of type InvalidDomainObjectEventHandler) to indicate invalid state when the IsValid property is called. On an aspx codebehind, I have to manually wire up the events for the domain object like this: _purchaseOrder.AmountIsNull += new DomainObject.InvalidDomainObjectEventHandler(HandleDomainObjectEvent); _purchaseOrder.NoReason += new DomainObject.InvalidDomainObjectEventHandler(HandleDomainObjectEvent); _purchaseOrder.NoSupplier += new DomainObject.InvalidDomainObjectEventHandler(HandleDomainObjectEvent); _purchaseOrder.BothNewAndExistingSupplier += new DomainObject.InvalidDomainObjectEventHandler(HandleDomainObjectEvent); Note that the same method is called in each case since the InvalidDomainobjectEventArgs class contains the message to display. • XSLT: How to escape square brackets in Urls

  I have a set of records from Solr where field[@name='url'] can have the following format: http://url/blabla/blabla.aspx?sv=[keyword%20keyword,%201] My understanding is that the square brackets denote an array syntax and I would like to use XSLT to remove the square brackets from all Urls. The reason for this is that I am using an Open URL resolver, which does not currently handle well those characters. The best option would be to strip the square brackets from all URLs before such resources are mediated by the Open URL resolver. There are cases where I have multiple occurrences of square brackets per Url. Can you please help me with this? Thanks for your help, I.

  Hello, I have created a real simple templated UserControl using the following tutorial: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/36574bf6(VS.80).aspx I can now add this control to my mvc 2.0 application using: <components:Box BoxType="Help" Title="Content Title" runat="server"> <Content> <%: Html.TextBox("test") %> This is my awesome content!<br /> <b>Test</b> </Content> </components:Box> However, when I go to the designer, I get an exception: Type 'System.Web.UI.UserControl' does not have a public property named 'Content'. How can I fix this? I don't even need to use the drag-and-drop designer, just rendering the control will do fine. Thanks!

  I'm trying to embed a custom control in a Datagridview. I've looked at the Calendar (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/7tas5c80.aspx) example but i just cant get it working for a custom control. I need the control to show for each object in the grid. Not just when the user edits the content. I need to do this so that i can bind my dataviewgrid to a datasource and have it create the required forms in the grid for each my object list. So that the user can do inline editing in the grid without having to double click the row and have a new dialog pop up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• What could cause "Connection Interrupted" on LocalHost when debugging in ASP.NET

  I'm trying to run a freshly created ASP.NET Website using C#, however when I do so it launches FireFox and attempts to connect to http://localhost:1295/WebSite1/Default.aspx (for example), but after about 10-15 seconds it displays a "Connection Interrupted - The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading." Error. This issue is also present with older ASP.NET C# pages/Web Services I've built in the past, nothing is actually running off the ASP.NET Development server. I am using: Windows XP Pro SP2, Visual Studio 2008 For reference I have SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition installed as well. I have tried: Browsing it with IE instead of Mozilla Trying 2.0 framework instead of 3.5 Reinstalling Visual Studio 2008 This problem seems so trivial the more I think about it, but I havn't been able to work it out just yet! Appreciate any help on the matter.

• c# Regex on XML string handler

  Hi guys. Trying to fiddle around with regex here, my first attempt. Im trying to extract some figures out of content from an XML tag. The content looks like this: www.blahblah.se/maps.aspx?isAlert=true&lat=51.958855252721&lon=-0.517657021473527 I need to extract the lat and long numerical vales out of each link. They will always be the same amount of characters, and the lon may or may not have a "-" sign.   I have a WCF service returning JSON to jQuery ajax calls and presenting the results on an ASPX page. When the page is NOT under SSL, the ajax calls work perfectly. When the page IS under SSL, the calls fail. I understand that this behavior must be due to the Same Origin Policy (SOP). So, how do I setup my WCF service to accept calls from an SSL-secured page? Does the WCF service also need to be secured? If so, how do I do this? Thanks, Joe

• Access Edit Mode Values of BindingSource Control

  I have a BindingSource control (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.forms.bindingsource.aspx) with a datasource of a (single) Linq object. If I change any of the properties of the underlying Linq-to-Sql object then all the other changes on the bound controls on the form are lost. Does anyone now why and how I work around it? I don't want to call EndEdit because this will commit the changes to the underlying object. I think this might be because my underlying object linq-to-sql object does not implement IEditableObject so the potental new values for the object fields are sort of stored in the forms controls. Can anyone either clarify what is going on and/or suggest a work around. Thanks!

The solution below works fine but I am specifically looking for a way to lookup manager of the user who created the holiday request list item in the workflow. User add new holiday item to list Workflow kicks off Wf has the manager hardcoded (need a way to look this up, maybe from AD??) and creates a Task for them to review the request.   Hi, We use the asp.net UpdatePanel and the ScriptManager/ScriptManagerProxy for ajax related functionality; reducing full page refreshes and calling WCF Services respectively. we also use jQuery and plugins for some parts of the UI. We have had some issues with javascript library related conflicts, but have come across some posts indicating that there is a lot more overhead using the UpdatePanel. I have found some limited reference to UFrame: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/aspnet/uframe.aspx www.codeplex.com/uframe Is this a commercially viable replacement for the asp.net UpdatePanel? We use a ScriptManagerProxy to reference WCF services and easily create and use a proxy to call the various WCF service methods. Would using jQuery ajax be a more efficient solution here? We have got this working well on various browsers but now seem to be getting some security related issues (as seen in FF Firebug: Access to restricted URI denied" code: "1012) which seem to have started since using jQuery a lot more. Is it possible/viable to not use ASP.NET Ajax at all?

Unable to find the requested .Net Framework data provider" For instance, i've installed it , but i've also uninstalled old version, then installed new versions. In my project i simple copy Mysql dll into "bin" folder, then add a reference to that dll. I'm not sure is the corrected way... I need to have the "refreshed schema" to permit vs.net to build automatically my listview ... if i can't to "auto build" listview, i have to write all code by hand, and it is a too expensive work me :( What i'm wrong ? • How do I set my development web browser in VS2010 RC?

  I don't like to use IE for my system default web browser. but I do want to set IE as my browser in VS2010 because it works a little nicer for debugging and I like to develop to the lowest common denominator. (jab, lol)... anyhow, can I default to debugging against IE? I know in VS2008 you just had to "Browse With..." on an .aspx page. But that option doesn't exist in VS2010 RC. What gives?

  Hi, I never used Settings class before but I found some articles on CodeProject which I'm currently reading (for example http://www.codeproject.com/KB/cs/PropertiesSettings.aspx) but so far I didn't see how to save string array for getting it after application is started next time. For example my application has several FileSystemWatcher instances, with each instance several other directories are connected (for example one FSW instance is monitoring one directory for a change and when it happens it copies some file to several other directories), so I would have one string array with watched paths representing FSW instances, and string array for each of those paths, representing directories that are affected. My question is, what should I use (Settings class or something else), and how should I use that for storing application configuration that is variable number of string arrays? Emphasize is on something I could use very soon as I don't have too much time to make custom class (but would have to if I cannot find solution) or dig into some obscure hacks. Any tutorial link, code snippet would be very helpful. Thanks.
