• DataBind and Postback

  This is a general how does DataBind work questions... I have a simple page with a GridView that is bound (in the aspx code) to an ObjectDataSource. I can look in the Select() function called by the ObjectDataSource to see that it is called on the initial load and on every post back. I have some logic that happens on post backs that will affect the GridView's data, and I want to call GridView.DataBind() later on in the post back, after I've made some changes. Is there a way to prevent the automatic rebinding that happens on each post back? Does this mean I can't use an ObjectDataSource for this control?

• TFS 2010 Sharepoint Web Part error

  I downloaded: Microsoft® Visual Studio® 2010 and Team Foundation Server® 2010 Beta 2 for Microsoft® Virtual PC 2007 SP1 Image When I go into the default installation of TFS project site in Sharepoint ( http://vs2010beta2/sites/DefaultCollection/IBuySpy/Dashboards/ProjectDashboard_wss.aspx ) I get this error on the webparts. There are no accessible team projects in this Team Project Collection. Contact your Team Foundation Server administrator. In the Team Server Admin Console - Team Project Collection - Team Projects tab the projects are there. This is the default installation. Any suggestions???

Which function or code helps to bind the file handle in that example? Using asynchronous I/O completion events, a thread from the thread pool processes data only when the data is received, and once the data has been processed, the thread returns to the thread pool. To make an asynchronous I/O call, an operating-system I/O handle must be associated with the thread pool and a callback method must be specified.   I created Setup project for my Excel add-in project according to the article: Deploying a Visual Studio Tools for the Office System 3.0 Solution for the 2007 Microsoft Office System Using Windows Installer http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc563937(office.12).aspx I add prerequisites such as 2007 Interop assemblies(Office2007PIA) and when I run my setup file it does install it. But the problem is : That my setup ALWAYS installs it even if my computer already has Office2007PIA. How can I configure my setup project that it will first check if Office2007PIA is installed and continue the installation of my project without installing Office2007PIA? Thanks!

• Issues rendering image in flash via Context.Response.Write C# asp.

  I am having an issue rendering images in flash via a character array. I am sending it from a webhandler via Context.Response.Write as a Base64CharacterArray. It functions 100% properly in a windows environment, however when using a Mac the image data is not retrieved correctly causing the image to appear incorrectly. It does not affect the data,however as it is rendered properly in a player which accesses the data via a webservice. I am at the end of my rope on this one. Anything will help. • File Encrypt/Decrypt under load?

  I found an interesting article about encrypting and decrypting files but since it uses a file.dat to store the key this will run into problems when theres alot of users on the site dealing with alot of files. http://www.codeproject.com/KB/security/VernamEncryption.aspx?display=Print Should a new file be created every time a file needs decrypting or would there be a better way to do this? On that page you can see a drop-down box under Order Information, Product. I want to remove the prices from all the options that contain them in that box, so get rid of " - $75.98" for example. I am not used to JQuery, but I realize it would be possible - just not sure how to do it, so your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. George

• Random number within a range based on a normal distribution

  I'm math challenged today :( I want to generate random numbers with a range (n to m, eg 100 to 150), but instead of purely random I want the results to be based on the normal distribution. By this I mean that in general I want the numbers "clustered" around 125. I've found this random number package that seems to have a lot of what I need: http://beta.codeproject.com/KB/recipes/Random.aspx It supports a variety of random generators (include mersiene twister) and can apply the generator to a distribution. But I'm confused... if I use a normal distribution generator the random numbers are from roughly -6 to +8 (apparently the true range is float.min to float.max). How do a scale that to my required range?

• asp:SqlDataSource binded to asp:DropDownList

  I have a asp:SqlDataSource and asp:DropDownList components on my page. On normal page it works ok. Now I'd like to put this on new page with url like ...mypage.aspx?transactionID=2. In Page_Load I would like to set Transaction drop down selected index to 2. But it always binds to 1. I assume, that things happen in this order: in Page_Load I set selected index to 2. Then asp:SqlDataSource's select statement executes and binds to DropDownList. That's why selected index of my DropDownList is always 1, no matter what I set it in Page_Load. So, how can I bind asp:SqlDataSource to asp:DropDownList and also set it's selected index parameter to some integer?

• OpenXml - How to identify whether the paragraph extends to next page

  From aspx page, I dynamically add paragraphs to a word document using OpenXml SDK. In this case, a page break within a paragraph is not allowed. So in case a paragraph starts in middle of page 1 and extends to page2 then it should actually start in Page2. However, if it ends in the same page it is okay. How to achieve this? Is there a way to set in th document that page break is not allowed within a paragraph? Any input is highly appreciated.

  Hello onlookers, A web site I've been using has some interesting behavior... There is a form, but there is no button for submission. Instead, there is an input: <input id="ctl00_pageContent_loginButton" type="image" style="border-width: 0px;" alt="Login" src="images/btn_login.gif" name="ctl00$pageContent$loginButton"/> and when you hover over it the cursor turns into a hand, like an anchor tag -- however I do not see any css (in firebug) showing that the input should have a hover attribute. Further, the input does not have any sign of being an actual link/submission button. I'm stumped -- would love to know how they were able to do this.   I have a drop down menu in an ASPX page along the lines of: <form> <select name="cars"> <option value="volvo">Volvo</option> <option value="saab">Saab</option> <option value="fiat" selected="selected">Fiat</option> <option value="audi">Audi</option> </select> </form> That is dynamically generated from another controller (value and label). After the user selects one of the options I need to find out what the selected value/label (will be the same) is so I can hit an update button and retrieve the data on that option. What would be the easiest way to find out the value of the user "selected" option?

  I am developing site for online advertisements where sellers and buyers can come and sell/buy advertisements. Just need to develop detailed statistics like click counts, from which page clicks are coming (one advertisement can be placed on many pages), from which position (top, right, left ...) click are coming (one advertisement can be placed in different position on single page) etc. I seen that most of the advertisement on popular websites has following format: http://ads.stackoverflow.com/a.aspx?Task=Click&ZoneID=3&CampaignID=838&AdvertiserID=50&BannerID=1335&SiteID=1&RandomNumber=1463177307&Keywords=c%23%2c.net%2ccollections%2cdictionary%2chashtable It has many parameters like ZoneID, CampaignID, AdvertiserID, BannerID, SiteID, RandomNumber, adid, adcrid, obid, obtid and way. I can use one advertisement (adid) in multiple pages. But can't figure out the way to distinguish between from which pages clicks are coming. How can I use such parameters to generate statistics which tell me the page from which clicks are coming?

• How to Properly Reference a JavaScript File in an ASP.NET Project?

  Hi Guys I have some pages that reference javascript files. The application exists locally in a Virtual Directory, i.e. http://localhost/MyVirtualDirectory/MyPage.aspx so locally I reference the files as follows: <script src="/MyVirtualDirectory/Scripts/MyScript.js" type="text/javascript"></script> The production setup is different though. The application exists as its own web site in production, so I don't need to include the reference to the virtual directory. The problem with this is that I need to modify every file that contains a javascript reference so it looks like the following: <script src="../Scripts/MyScript.js" type="text/javascript"></script> I've tried referencing the files this way in my local setup but it doesn't work. Am I going about this completely wrong? Can somebody tell me what I need to do? Thanks

• Requested URL is changing

  Hi, I have a website, at localhost:82 when I type this into IE, it comes up with a 404 error and the requested URL is localhost:80/wwwroot, which is not at all what I requested. There is no URL rewrite set up. I have tried to set up a tracing rule to see what is happening, however, the instructions at http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/266/troubleshooting-failed-requests-using-tracing-in-iis-7/ say to look for "Fail Request Tracing" link, but it doesn't exist in my IIS 7.0 even under administrator. Not sure where to look or why this is changing my requested URL. Any help would be appreciated.

• IIS7 Overrides customErrors when setting Response.StatusCode?

  Having a weird problem here. Everybody knows that if you use web.config's customErrors section to make a custom error page, that you should set your Response.StatusCode to whatever is appropriate. For example, if I make a custom 404 page and name it 404.aspx, I could put <% Response.StatusCode = 404 % in the contents in order to make it have a true 404 status header. Follow me so far? Good. Now try to do this on IIS7. I cannot get it to work, period. If Response.StatusCode is set in the custom error page, IIS7 seems to override the custom error page completely, and shows it's own status page (if you have one configured.) Has anyone else seen this behavior and also maybe know how to work around it? It was working under IIS6, so I don't know why things changed. Update: This is not the same as the issue in http://stackoverflow.com/questions/347281/asp-net-custom-404-returning-200-ok-instead-of-404-not-found

But it is happening only one time. next time when i enter some text and press enter key, it is not going to the Keydown event handler. • Visual studio 'View in Browser' shortcut to specific page?

  We are using Visual Studio 2008 and would like to know if there is a way to create a (keyboard or toolbar) shortcut for the 'View in Browser'-command, but with a specific page from a specific (loaded) project. We always start testing/debugging our app from "Somepage.aspx" from "Project-x". I would like to make a shortcut that does 'View in Browser' with this specific page/file, from this specific project. So even if I am currently working on another file in another project (from the same solution) it should still work... Anybody know if this is possible, and if so, how this can be achieved? Thanks! • Not able to see Images with wmd-editor

  I am using wmd editor to enter some text. After entering the text, I am saving it as mark down into the database. While inserting the image, if I save as markdown I am not able to see the image in my aspx page.(Because it down not save image in <img> tab in markdown). If I save the text as html then, I am able to see the image. But another problem with html is, while editing the text I am seeing all tags(such as <code1><p>pre> ) in the wmd-editor.

• Caching the response of an ASP.NET HTTP Handler server and client side

  Is it possible to cache the response of a http handler on the server and on the client? This doesn't seem to be doing the trick: _context.Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.Public); _context.Response.Cache.SetExpires(DateTime.Now.AddDays(7)); The _context is the HTTPContext passed as an argument to the ProcessRequest method on the IHttpHandler implementation. Any ideas? Update: The client does cache images that are loaded through the httphandler, but if another client does the same call, the server hasn't got it cached. So for each client that asks for the image, the server goes to the database (and filestream). If we use a aspx page instead of a httphandler together with a caching profile, then the images are cached both on the client and the server.

  Hi all, I have a windows service responsible for running processes on a remote machine with capturing the output, I googled for that and read a lot of articles and threads, I found two ways: 1) using WMI for call the remote process like this example: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/cs/EverythingInWmi02.aspx 2) using the PsExec tool by System.Diagnostic.Process class ever way of these has many problems, the WMI doesn't support returning the output and doesn't support "WaitingToExit" It just call the process and return the PId, and the PsExec couldn't capture the output programmatically by System.Diagnostic.Process in a clear way, I found only workarounds like redirect the output to a file then read the redirected file..etc, I need a real solution please

• Styling WPF Toolkit DataGrid Column Headers

  Hi, I'm having an issue styling the WPF Datagrid, I've styled the column headers (of type ColumnHeader). But when the data in the columns does not fill the full width of the grid an additional column is added to pad out the grid. This column ignores the ColumnHeader style and looks out of place presumably because the element has a different type, I've looked through the library in object browser but I can't find this element. I've also considered fixing the sizes so this column is unnecessary but thats not a viable option. The problem is demonstrated in the following article: http://blogs.msdn.com/jaimer/archive/2009/01/20/styling-microsoft-s-wpf-datagrid.aspx The element I mean is in the top right, just to the right of green column 3 and just above the cell with the row background arrow.
