  • How would I setup reverse DNS for 2 email servers?

    I have an interesting DNS question (well interesting to me atleast). I just installed an hmail server in our remote office to act as an MX backup in the event our exchange server goes down. The 2 host names are mail.campbellsurvey.com mail2.campbellsurvey.com mail points to the address 98.XXX.91.XXX mail2 points to the address 70.XXX.190.XXX How would I setup a PTR record on the ISP end to reflect both hostnames? Does the PTR have to point to EXACTLY mail.campbellsurvey.com or can it point to just campbellsurvey.com? because right now anything passing through the primary static address in our pool (the one used for standard internet) is identified as mail.campbellsurvey.com. My only idea to fix this was to move the mail server to the next available address and give it only it the name mail.campbellsurvey.com but I wanted to see if there was another way.     I am managing an email newsletter that is distributed through Lotus Notes. At the bottom, I have 4 hotspot buttons for "Subscribe," "Unsubscribe," "Forward to a Colleague," and "Archives." Subscribe and Unsubscribe use @MailSend to email me the sub/unsub request. However, I am getting a lot of people who click "Subscribe" even when they are already subscribed. I'm looking for a way to hide the Subscribe button when the email sender is my newsletter email address.

    I am using gmail as my email provider, and I only have gmail servers for my mx records. I don't like the 500 message per day cap. To address this issue I would like to run postfix on my Linux machine to only send email, incoming port 25 blocked by my firewall. I can send email, however google marks all messages sent with postfix as SPAM. How do I make sure that people know email sent with postfix is valid?

    My iCal has new behavior (since upgrading to SL). Every time I get an ical attachment in Mail, the iCal app flies up in my face. I don't see any way to turn off this behavior and it's amazingly disruptive when I'm busy with other activities. Help? EDIT: I want iCal to add the invitations, so when I cmd-tab to the app those items are in the queue awaiting approval. What I am hoping to learn is how to stop the popup action forcing the application to become the top-level window.

I was trying to install the store image through WebUI.     I like to tag my emails in Mozilla Thunderbird 10.0.2, but the tagging system that is built in just isn't sufficient, I want to use something a little closer to the suggest tag system that is built into Stackexchange, where existing tags will display as I type them, and they will be separated using some sort of delimiter (such as a space or a comma). Does anyone know of any mail tagging plugins like that?

  • Thunderbird: possible to change selected email highlight color (when no focus) ?

    Is it possible to change, in the message list of Thunderbird 3.0, the highlight color of the selected message when the list does not have the focus? The highlight color for the selected row is blue when the list has the focus, this is very clear. But when the list does not have the focus (e.g. after when you click in the message preview area), the highlight color is dark grey. However, this dark grey doesn't really stand out against the alternating row highlighting in the list (at least not on my laptop's LCD screen), making it difficult for me to quickly locate the message I've selected. So, any way to change this dark grey highlighting?

  • Can I make Thunderbird load different email accounts one after the other instead of all at the same

    I use Thunderbird 3 on Vista. I use it for 3 POP accounts. When I start work in the morning, all three accounts are checked at the same time, and all emails are being loaded simultaneously. I think Thunderbird is quite slow in general, and this behaviour makes it even worse. At least it makes me feel so. Can I tell Thunderbird to check the accounts and load the emails one after the other?

    I would like to install an extremely small mail server on my VPS and I am only interested in it sending out mail (activation links) from my web site. I don't need it to support mailboxes or incoming mail (although having that option for the future might be nice). The main requirement is that I don't have to worry about monitoring it as often and protecting against people bouncing messages off my server or wasting resources with incoming mail. I just want to send mail out. So something small that only listens on localhost would be ideal. The other requirement is that it is documented so I can learn how to set it up and manage it.

    I have a request from our legal team to search a users' mailbox. the mailbox is 15gig and it is on exchange 2003. I am trying to run windows desktop search and google desktop. I have gotten them to index mailbox but getting the results into a folder to backup on cd is getting bit difficult. Windows desktop search and google desktop search does not allow you to copy results to another folder. Can anyone point me to right direction?     I know this question has been asked several times before but I can't seem to find a solution for my requirements. I currently use BareTail, which works wonderfully except that it doesn't support custom events besides line highlighting. I'm also trying TailForWin32. It has a SMTP plugin but it seems to be in beta status, and the highlighting seems limited. It also doesn't handle rolling log files very well (a blocking dialog box pops up, whereas BareTail just rolls over naturally). All I really need is something like BareTail that supports custom events. First prize would be a tool with a plugin-based architecture so I can use my own messaging plugins, but anything that supports SMTP mail would be fine as well.

    I have some modifications I want to make WITHOUT installing extensions. eg: max width of tab and height of menu, In previous versions you could have it done via: about:config ->browser.tabs.tab.maxWidth Since FF4 it should be done with CSS. Now I searched the default theme: C:\Users\wetcat\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\feriz.default and C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox In the second I could find the extension - theme but without any CSS. In the AppData I couldn't find any CSS or theme folder. WHERE is the file to create or alter the CSS?? I'm using Firefox 11.
