Cisco sg100-08 connections

I have multiple computers, some have a 10/100 ethernet adapter while others have a 10/100/1000 ones. If I connect them together with the Cisco sg100-08 switch, do I keep the 1Gbit speed where possible (between two devices at 1Gbit speed) or the whole lan slows down to 100mbit? I checked Cisco website but I couldn't find this kind of information, nor I was able to register to the Cisco support to ask this question (the registration form does not work)

Using the internet connection of a Remote Desktop

I have a remote desktop account, and I have tried setting up VPN, but all VPN or proxy server software I could think of was blocked. Windows' built in VPN is blocked too. When I go to "Change Adapter Settings" and click on "File-New Incoming Connection", it says "Access denied." What would your suggestion be to use the internet connection of the remote desktop?

Command-line tool to disable IPv6 in 2K8R2?

I'm in the process of deploying a bunch of Win2K8R2 VMs via vSphere's deployment template stuff, and in the deploy specification it allows you to punch a list of commands to run. Aside from activating Windows (which it doesn't do), it works pretty well. Does anyone know the command-line equivalent of going into a network adapter's properties and unchecking the IPv6 box? If I had that I could put that in the spec and not have to manually uncheck the IPv6 box.

I am setting up Untangle in a Sun VirtualBox VM. I plan on using this machine as a transparent bridge to filter and monitor traffic on my network. I'm not sure how to configure the network adapters for the virtual machine under the Virtualbox's "Devices" menu so that it will function as a transparent bridge. I guess what I'm asking is, should both adapter 1 & 2 be set as Bridged adapters or what? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I want to add usb network support to a real-time Linux distribution we're using at work. USB devices are recognized, but when connecting a usb network adapter no network interface is created. From what I've read this requires recompiling the kernel build with usbnet support enabled. I don't mind doing this, but the problem is that I can't seem to find any instructions on how to do this. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

How to troubleshoot port forwarding on Windows 7 (64 Bit) with ICS enabled?

I want to forward some ports (1666 for perforce, 8081 for Hudson) on my Internet Gateway machine. This machine is running Windows 7 (64 Bit, legal, user-account) and connected to the Internet via cable modem (it's not a router). The Windows machine is sharing its Internet Connection via ICS and that works fine on all connected computers. I can access the services via the gateway's public IP (95.x.x.x) on the given ports if they are running on the gateway machine itself. I've added the ports and destination IP address (192.168.0.18) in the Internet network adapter's Advanced Settings dialog (Sharing tab). That's the same dialog where you have a list of preconfigured services like HTTP, FTP and other incoming services. When I do that I can't connect to the services anymore. For some reason port forwarding isn't working. I have uninstalled Bitdefender because I wanted to check if the Firewall interferes. I've also disabled the Windows Firewall and Defender to no avail. I tried a freeware tool that helps to setup port forwarding but that didn't work either. The target machine is a Mac OS X computer whose Firewall is disabled. The IP is static. I can successfully connect to the services using the local IP address (192.168.0.18) from two different machines, including the gateway computer. So internally and externally it seems to me that the ports are open and not blocked, and the issue is with port forwarding itself. From what I understand it should be enough to add an entry to the Advanced Settings dialog to enable port forwarding when there are no firewalls interfering. How can I troubleshoot why port forwarding isn't working for me? What steps should I follow to alleviate the issue? PS: I gladly accept command line solutions. Other things I've tried: adding an Inbound Rule to Windows Firewall for the 1666, 8081 ports trying with Windows Firewall enabled and disabled disabling/enabling the network adapter double-checked that the IP addresses are correct mapping a different incoming port to the service's actual port followed or checked the misc tips in this article What I haven't dared trying yet (let me know if it's worth a shot): disable/enable ICS remove all network adapters (via Control Panel), then re-install and re-configure them

NEC uPD720200 USB 3.0 not working on Ubuntu 12.04

I've recently installed Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit on a HP Envy 15 1104tx. Most stuff appears to be working fine with the exception of the two USB3 ports (USB2 port works fine). I've read a lot of articles but so far have not been able to find a solution. I've tried adding 'pci=nomsi' to '/etc/default/grub' but this made no difference. Some articles suggest booting into Windows and upgrading the firmware on the uPD720200. Any body had any experience of this? Is there a way I can checked the firmware version of the NEC uPD720200 in Linux to see if there is an update available? Why is my Internet connection randomly dropping?

Ever since I have installed 12.04 (clean install not an upgrade), i have been having a drop in the Internet connection. The drop in the connection can be anything from 15 seconds to about 3 mins, and then the connection comes back. This behaviour happens while I am actively browsing the Internet, or if I wake up the computer and open Firefox (sometimes I have connection and sometimes I don't) . Please note that when the internet connection is on, it is not slow (as speedtest.net results show) In the beginning, I thought it was a problem with the driver r8169 for my RTL8111/8168B Ethernet card, so I downloaded the r8168 from Realtek website, followed the detailed instructions (blacklisted r8169, changed the file to '.bsh' ...), but still the same problem persisted. So I switched to a wireless connection, and I got the same problem with internet connection dropping randomly. Any ideas? svn connection timeout

I have Ubuntu 12.04 running in virtual box inside Windows 7. I have the network adapter set as NAT and everything networking wise seems to be running smoothly (internet / git ect.). However, for some reason, svn always times out when i.e michael@michael-VirtualBox:~/Documents/deleteme$ svn co svn://svn.openwrt.org/openwrt/trunk/ svn: Can't connect to host 'svn.openwrt.org': Connection timed out Somebody suggested to me that I might need to change what ports svn uses. Does anybody have any idea how to diagnose / solve the problem? Thanks!

Connecting to DB2 from SSIS

The project I'm currently working on involves moving various pieces of data from a legacy DB2 environment to some SQL Server and flat file locations. Most of the data flows are real time, so they were a natural fit for the client's MQSeries on their iSeries servers and BizTalk to handle the messaging. Some of the data flows, however, are daily batch type transmissions. For the daily batch transmissions, it was decided that we'd use SSIS to pull the data direct from DB2 to either a SQL Server or flat file. I'm not at all an SSIS guy, I've done a bit here and there, but mainly for situations were we needed to move data from a dev environment to QA, mostly informal stuff like that. And, as much as I'm not an SSIS guy, I'm even less a DB2/iSeries guy. Prior to this engagement, my knowledge of DB2 was limited to the fact that it's an IBM product and that it was probably a DBMS flatform (that's what the DB in DB2 means, right?). One of my first goals when I came onto this project was to develop of POC SSIS package to pull some data from DB2 and dump it to a flat file. It sounded like a pretty straight forward task. As always, the devil is in the details. Configuring the DB2 connection manager took a bit of trial and error. As such, I thought I'd post my experiences here in hopes that they might save someone the efforts I went through. That being said, please keep in mind, as I pointed out, I'm not at all a DB2 guy, so my terminology and explanations may not be 100% spot on. Before you get started, you need to figure out how you're going to connect to DB2. From the research I did, it looks like there are a few options. IBM has both an OLE DB and .Net data provider which can be found here. I installed their client access tools and tried to use both the .Net and OLE DB providers but I received an error message from both when attempting to connect to the iSeries that indicated I needed a license for a product called DB2 Connect. I inquired with one of my client's iSeries resources about a license for this product and it appears they didn't have one, so that meant the IBM drivers were out. The other option that I found quite a bit of discussion around was Microsoft's OLE DB Provider for DB2. This driver is part of the feature pack for SQL Server 2008 Enterprise Edition and can be downloaded here. As it turns out, I already had Microsoft's driver installed on my dev VM, which stuck me as odd since I hadn't installed it. I discovered that the driver is installed with the BizTalk adapter pack for host systems, which was also installed on my VM. However, it looks like the version used by the adapter pack is newer than the version provided in the SQL Server feature pack. Once you get the driver installed, create a connection manager in your package just like you normally would and select the Microsoft OLE DB Provider for DB2 from the list of available drivers. After you select the driver, you'll need to enter in your host name, login credentials and initial catalog. A couple of things to note here. First, the Initial catalog needs to be the same as your host name. Not sure why that is, but trust me, it just does. Second, for credentials, in my environment, we're using what the client's iSeries people refer to as "profiles". I guess this is similar to SQL auth in the SQL Server world. In other words, they've given me a username and password for connecting to DB, so I've entered it here. Next, click the Data Links button. On the Data Links screen, enter your package collection on the first tab. Package collection is one of those DB2 concepts I'm still trying to figure out. From the little bit I've read, packages are used to control SQL compilation and each DB2 connection needs one. The package collection, I believe, controls where your package is created. One of the iSeries folks I've been working with told me that I should always use QGPL for my package collection, as QGPL is "general purpose" and doesn't require any additional authority. Next click the ellipsis next to the Network drop-down. Here you'll want to enter your host name again. Again, not sure why you need to do this, but trust me, my connection wouldn't work until I entered my hostname here. Finally, go to the Advanced tab, select your DBMS platform and check Process binary as character. My environment is DB2 on the iSeries and iSeries is the replacement for AS/400, so I selected DB2/AS400 for my platform. Process binary as character was necessary to handle some of the DB2 data types. I had a few columns that showed all their data as "System.Byte[]". Checking Process binary as character resolved this. At this point, you should be good to go. You can go back to the Connection tab on the Data Links dialog to perform a couple of tests to validate your configuration. The Test Connection button is obvious, this just verifies you can connect to the host using the configuration data you've entered. The Packages button will attempt to connect to the host and create the packages required to execute queries. This isn't meant to be a comprehensive look SSIS and DB2, these are just some of the notes I've come up with since I've started working with DB2 and SSIS. I'm sure as I continue developing my packages, I'll find more quirks and will post them here.

HSDPA modem only working on certain USB ports

Depending on which USB port I use to connect my HSDPA modem, the network manager will connect to the internet or not. I used to work (i.e. established a internet connection automatically) on all ports, but over time it simply stopped on some ports. lsusb output in all cases looks like that (Device ID varies depending on USB port): Bus 001 Device 009: ID 12d1:1003 Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. Getting exfat support in ubuntu 14.04?

I looked at all the other questions but none seemed to work so here it goes. I have a microsdxc card that's in an adapter that's in my computer and I cant access it because there is no exfat support so when I do sudo apt-get install exfat-fuse exfat-utils This comes out in the terminal Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done E: Unable to locate package exfat-fuse I have tried updating my repo's and the update manager and I have tried adding the ppa. Nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

12.04 on VirtualBox -No internet access on Guest OS

I have Windows 7 as my Host OS which has wired Ethernet working. My guest OS on VirtualBox is Ubuntu 12.04. The problem is that I cannot browse. I have: Enabled sharing on Windows; Have used NAT, Bridged Adapter etc ( all possible combinations); With NAT, used PCnet-FAST II (Am79c973) combination. Ubuntu says "connected to wired ethernet1" but I cannot access websites. VirtualBox Host-Only Network in the Network and Sharing center shows that I don't have IPV4 and IPV6 connectivity. Meaning I don't have DHCP configured. Strangely I have DNS address correct in the Ubuntu properties.

WebCenter Portal and the example Accelerator RIDC adapter frameworkWebCenter Portal currently integrates and leverages WebCenter Content Services to enable available use cases in the portal today, like Content Presenter and Doc Lib. However the current use cases only covers few of the scenarios that the Content Server has to offer, in addition to the existing use cases it is not rare that the customer requirements requires additional steps and functionality that is provided by WebCenter Content but not part of the use cases from the WebCenter Portal.The good news to this is RIDC, the second good news is that WebCenter Portal already leverages the RIDC and has a connection management framework in place. The million dollar question here is how can I leverage this infrastructure for my custom use cases. Oracle A-Team has during its interactions produced a accelerator adapter framework that will reuse and leverage the existing connections provisioned in the webcenter portal application (works for WebCenter Spaces as well), as well as a very comprehensive design patter to minimize the work involved when exposing functionality. Let me introduce the RIDCCommon framework for accelerating WebCenter Content consumption from WebCenter Portal including Spaces. Create a new Java Class in for example com.oracle.ateam.portal.ridc.operation call it (GetDocInfoOperation) Extend the abstract class com.oracle.ateam.portal.ridc.operation.RIDCAbstractOperation and implement the interface com.oracle.ateam.portal.ridc.operation.IRIDCOperation The only method you actually are required to implement is execute(RIDCManager, IdcClient, IdcContext) The best practice to set object references for the operation is through the Constructor, example below public GetDocInfoOperation(String dDocName)By leveraging the constructor you can easily force the implementing class to pass right information, you can also overload the Constructor with more or less parameters as required Implement the execute method, the work you supposed to execute here is creating a new request binder and retrieve a response binder with the information in the request binder.In this case the dDocName for which we want the DocInfo Secondly you have to process the response binder by extracting the information you need from the request and restore this information in a simple POJO Java BeanIn the example below we do this in private void processResult(DataBinder responseData) - the new SearchDataObject is a Member of the GetDocInfoOperation so we can return this from a access method.
