• Robust Way of Selecting All Text in Textbox

  I'm trying to have the content of the an HTML textbox be selected fully onFocus. I know the simple solution of putting a onfocus="this.select()" on the component but this is not a good solution because if a user double clicks into the area the selection is lost and in browsers like chrome it is rarely working like it should and just reverts into input form. I have searched on Google for a little while and can't find a good solution, most suggestions are of this simple solution. What I would like it is that the selection inside the textbox not change once selected and if possible the user should not be able to edit the content of the textbox, for example if you have used AdSense when you grab code from AdSense the selection never changes and your unable to alter the code in the textbox. Any solutions would be appreciated.

It works, however, the files generated from the command are written to /administrator and I want them to be written to the location where the Java command resides ie. /administrator/com_mycomponent/java/MyJavaApp.jar //run the command $javaCommand = "$javaCommand -jar $keyGeneratorFile $appName"; $response = exec($javaCommand); if(empty($response)) { JError::raiseError(500, "Key Generation failed for command: $javaCommand"); } What can I do? • How to mimic an excel spreadsheet on a website in vb.net?

  I am building a website to capture data. I have many spreadsheets that are used for data entry or capture. Now I want to mimic these complex spreadsheets on the web forms but I am unsure of the correct control to use. Data entry must be allowed and live calculations also need to be made similar to formulas on normal excel spreadsheets. Later on the data must be captured into an SQL table. What would be the best control to use or method to mimic that functionality, albeit that the spreadsheet component is no longer available in visual studio 2010. Is it a data grid? Thanks

  The question pretty much says it all. I have an app with an older component that doesn't work right if runtime themes are enabled. But if I don't enable them, the app always ends up messing with the virtual store. Thanks! Update: Using Mark's solution below, the application no longer writes to the Virtual Store. But, now it won't access a tdb file (Tiny Database file) that it needs. This tdb file is the same file that was being written to the Virtual store. Any ideas on how I can give it access to the tdb file and still prevent writing the Virtual Store?

• Do you have to pay for GNU GPL software that is "for sale"?

  I've seen some software (a Joomla component, to be exact) for sale on a web site. The web site says it is licensed under the GNU GPL2. However it also says you need to pay for every site you use the software on (with bulk discounts). I know it's perfectly acceptable to sell software under the GPL, however the license implies that the source code must be distributed at no cost. So is this a legitimate use of the GPL, or is it violating the license? Is it legal to download the software for free (say, from Bittorrent) and use it as I wish?

  I need to ask if any of you has any knowledge of creating file thumbnails on the fly. I have found a free component but it works only for PDF files, PDFThumbnailer. But my requirement is to convert DOC/RTF/PDF/XLS files to thumbnails on the fly, and if possible allow to save it as an image for later reference which currently PDFThumbnailer doesnt allow. PDFThumbnailer takes the pdf file and renders an image for it on browser, if that image can also be saved somehow to my machine that would be great too. Please guide me of how to achieve the above requirements. Any help for any filetype is appreciated. Thanks Imdadhusen

• Creating a Pop up and setting its view state before it displays

  Hi, I am a beginner developer in Flex, and I have been using viewstates lately. I had a couple of custom popup titlewindow components that are initialized using: PopUpManager.createPopUp(this, ContentCreate, true); They both contain view states already, and are very similar so I wanted to combione them into one popup titlewindow and change view state on initialisation of the popup to either the Create version of the popup or the Update. I thought I was being smart haha, but I realized soon after refactoring my code that, I as far as I know I can't pass parameters to the popup to indicate which state I want, if it is created using the PopUpManager. Does anyone know how to pass parameters to the PopupManager, or create the ContentCreate component(TitleWindow) in mxml or code so I can specify the view state?

  So what I want to do is, in my main layout, have a menu for logged in users, and a different for anon users. THe layout will be used on every page, so I'm not sure how to do this, as I've seen, the Auth Component can only be used in the controller, this would be nice if I had to do this in only one view, but for every view, how can I do this?   I'm writing a program which listens to an incoming TcpClient and handles data when it arrives. The Listen() method is run on a separate thread within the component, so it needs to be threadsafe. If I break out of a do while loop while I'm within a lock() statement, will the lock be released? If not, how do I accomplish this? Thanks!   How do I write a mod_rewrite regulare expression rule that is the opposite of this: ^(.+)/path/(page1|page2)+$ ie, I want all pages except blah/path/page1 and blah/path/page2 to redirect to another path, where the x in blah/path/x is used in the new path. For example, I'd like write a rewrite rule like: RewriteRule some_regex /index.php?path/show/$1 [L] where some_regex would pull out the last component of a url in the format: /something/path/some_param to redirect to /index.php/path/show/some_param I'm trying to use ! and [^] syntax, but I don't quite understand how these work, especially when they involve words not single characters.

• FLV Player Skin Custom URL

  I have a flash banner ad (AS3) which uses a FLV Player component for a remove video. The Skin exports it's own SWF file for user with the video controls as I'm sure anyone familiar with Flash knows. Is there anyway to specify where this file is remotely? I have to provide 1 file to my advertiser, and do not want to have to create custom video controls for this. Is it possible to upload this swf file to a remote location and tell Flash to pull it from there? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• How can I modify the application file of an application that is currently running (on Linux)?

  I have an application running called AppFS. This application has an ext2 filesystem just attached to the end of the file (it's positioned so that the application binary exists in a 1MB spacing area, followed by the ext2 data). Now I've got FUSE embedded in the program and I've managed to extract the filesystem out of the application data into a temporary file so that FUSE can mount / use it. The problem I have now is writing the temporary file back into the application file. I get "Text file busy" presumably because the application has locked itself and won't let writes occur. Is there a way I can force the file to become unlocked so I can write data to it? (It's important to note that I'm not changing the application binary area - just rewriting the ext2 component.) It needs to be unlocked without requiring root permissions (unlocked by the same user who started the application).

  I'm developing a class library. Need some data from internet and this cannot be done with HttpWebRequest in my case so I wanna use WebBrowser component. WebBrowser is used for opening a single page and fetch some data from it, so WebBrowser life-time is very short. Running thread is MTA and no message pump or STA thread is available by default (class library is used by an ASP.NET application). How to create a WebBrowser object, run it with a STA thread, fetch data from a web page and finally dispose it with the least performance impact on the application ? • Visual Studio adds a circular reference when I drag and drop a user control from the Toolbox

  I have a user control C that is defined inside project P. C is present as a ".NET Framework Component" in my Visual Studio Toolbox. I open a form F (also defined inside project P) and drop C onto F. Once I do that drop, Visual Studio adds a reference under P pointing to P's own DLL. This is unnecessary and causes tons of build errors like The call is ambiguous between the following methods or properties... after which it lists the exact same method twice. If I go into References and delete the added reference, it builds correctly. Can I prevent VS from adding this unnecessary reference?

• [Resolved] OWC does not work with IE8

  Hi, I have a web page that is generated with Access 2003 and uses Office Web Components. It worked fine with IE6 and IE7 but does not work anymore with IE8. Here are more details. I create an MSODSC component and a WSH object to get my ConnectionString in the registry. Then the Dropdown Lists are fed by a request to the database. It works perfect with IE6 and IE7, works locally with IE8 but if the page is served by IIS to IE8, the drop down lists are empty. Can anyone help me ? Thanks Mactov It was just a security issue. I had put my site in the confidence zone (according to the error message). I transfered it into intranet zone and it works perfect.

• Java/Swing: JTable.rowAtPoint doesn't work correctly for points outside the table?

  I have this code to get a row from a JTable that is generated by a DragEvent for a DropTarget in some component C which may or may not be the JTable: public int getRowFromDragEvent(DropTargetDragEvent event) { Point p = event.getLocation(); if (event.getSource() != this.table) { SwingUtilities.convertPointToScreen(p, event.getDropTargetContext().getComponent()); SwingUtilities.convertPointFromScreen(p, this.table); if (!this.table.contains(p)) { System.out.println("outside table, would be row "+this.table.rowAtPoint(p)); } } return this.table.rowAtPoint(p); } The System.out.println is just a hack right now. What I'm wondering, is why the System.out.println doesn't always print "row -1". When the table is empty it does, but if I drag something onto the table's header row, I get the println with "row 0". This seems like a bug... or am I not understanding how rowAtPoint() works?

• TPageControl tab area OnMouseEnter OnMouseLeave events

  Hello, I need to catch the "OnMouseEnter" and "0nMouseLeave" for a certain area of the TPageControl component. With that specific area I mean the whole "tab header" rectangle. The problem is, that the page control doesn't catch the messages (I'm catching internal control messages CM_MOUSEENTER and CM_MOUSELEAVE) in the "empty" space. The aim for me is to draw a small arrow in the right empty side when user hovers in the red framed area (and drawing is just piece of cake) and erase it when leaves this area. And I'm don't care about the overflow of the tabs (which causes to draw scrolling double button) - that will never happen.

  I have a Joomla site with my gmail account (google apps) being used as the SMTP server for sending mails. I also have a newsletter component on this site. I tried sending newsletter to all my subscribers and I noticed that the SMTP server could not be connected to. I then checked the emails of my company and noticed that the one I used to set it up was suspended. I cannot really explain why Google suspended the email account. Please could anyone tell me if Google saw the mails that were being sent as spam.

• Double right click to Show a PopUpMenu with A TListView !!

  Hi, I have a TListView and TPopupMenu, and I want to show a context menu when I right click on a TListItem. I tried the "AutoPopup" by assigning the component, but on a right click the PopupMenu is shown only and the wanted element is not selected. So i tried to use the "OnMouseDown", but we need to click and click again to show the menu on the wanted item. The first click is to select the item and the second shows the menu. But I want just a one click to do the two things. Do you have and idea about the problem? Thank you.
