Table A has following columns: id name description Table B has the following columns: id a_id(foreign key to Table A) ip_address date Basically Table B contains a row for each time a user views a row from Table A. My question is how do I sort Table A results, based on the number of matching rows in Table B. i.e SELECT * FROM TableA ORDER BY (SELECT COUNT(*) FROM TableB where TableB.a_id = TableA.id) Thank you!

I have to find number of colorings possible so that there is no monochromatic coloured (same colour) sub-rectangle whose both dimension is greater than 1 (eg - 2x2, 2x3,4x3) I have found a slightly different version of it here But they have said nothing about the algorithm. So, I am looking for an algorithm here !!

  • How can I limit the number of registrants to an event?

    I've set up a basic html/php submission form where people can register for our event, but need a way to replace the submission form webpage with one that reads something like "We have reached our registration limit" when we reach a certain number of submitted forms. Our database is MySQL (if that makes a difference) I've looked around on the web but people either say to count the entries by hand, or the ones that do have an automated system use CMS like drupal or joomla. Is it possible to setup an automated script that will do this?

    I used this example to create a DateTime column for a DataGridView in my winforms app. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/7tas5c80.aspx I can see the new column in the Windows Forms Designer and add it to an existing DataGridView. However, I want to be able to change the display format when I change the "DefaultCellStyle" within the designer. The designer generated code looks like this: DataGridViewCellStyle1.Format = "t" DataGridViewCellStyle1.NullValue = Nothing Me.colDate.DefaultCellStyle = DataGridViewCellStyle1 Me.colDatum.Name = "colDate" Me.colDatum.Resizable = System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewTriState.[False] Which is fine. But since the code of the DataGridViewCalendarCell does this in the constructor: Public Sub New() Me.Style.Format = "d" End Sub The format never changes to "t" (time format).   • Problems with rails and saving to the database.

    I've been having some difficulty in understanding the source of a problem. Below is a listing of the model classes. Essentially the goal is to have the ability to add sentences to the end of the story, or to add stories to an existing sentence_block. Right now, I'm only attempting to allow users to add sentences, and automatically create a new sentence_block for the new sentence. class Story < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :sentence_blocks, :dependent => :destroy has_many :sentences, :through => :sentence_blocks accepts_nested_attributes_for :sentence_blocks end class SentenceBlock < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :story has_many :sentences, :dependent => :destroy end class Sentence < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :sentence_block def story @sentence_block = SentenceBlock.find(self.sentence_block_id) Story.find(@sentence_block.story_id) end end The problem is occurring when using the show method of the Story. The Story method is as follows, and the associated show method for a sentence is also included. I'm trying to ensure that every time the view depicts show for a story, an unnecessary sentence_block and sentence isn't created, unless someone submits the form, I'm not really sure how to accomplish this. Any help would be appreciated.

This works except that I'm getting duplicate entries into my join table when creating a new event. BUT WHERE IS THIS VARIABLE PASSED? The funtion inturn calls new.rhtml which contains <% form_for(@product) do |f| % #all form elments declaration <% f.submit "Create" % <%= end % Here @product is initialized in the controller file and passed to this new.rhtml. So where does form_for(@product) gets the data? How does the control gets tranfered to create function in controller file when submit button is clicked? No where action is specified to the controller file. in the create function, wat does redirec_to(@product) specify where @product is an object received from the new.html file... I am very much confused on the basics of ROR. Somone pls help me clarify this. pardon me for making such a big post. I have lots of doubts in this single piece of code

    The functionality I'm trying to build allows Users to Visit a Restaurant. I have Users, Locations, and Restaurants models. Locations have many Restaurants. I've created a Visits model with user_id and restaurant_id attributes, and a visits_controller with create and destroy methods. Thing is, I can't create an actual Visit record. Any thoughts on how I can accomplish this? Or am I going about it the wrong way.
