  • What is the fastest way to compare two list of items?

    I have two folders with approximately 10,000 files each. I'd like to write a script or program that can tell me if these folders are in sync and then tell me what files are missing from each to make them in sync. Therefore, after generating a list of files, what is the fastest algorithm to sort them for unique files? What I'm thinking right now is comparing the first file on each list then if they are different remove one until they are the same, then remove both from the list (because they are not unique.) Is there a faster algorithm then this?

  • OpenGL programming vs Blender Software, which is better for custom video creation?

    I am learning OpenGL API bit by bit and also develop my own C++ framework library for effectively using them. Recently came across Blender software which is used for graphics creation and is in turn written in OpenGL itself. For my part time hobby of graphics learning, I want to just create small-small movie or video segments; e.g. related to construction engineering, epic stories and so on. There may be very minimal to nil mouse-keyboard interaction for those videos, unlike video games which are highly interactive. I was wondering if learning OpenGL from scratch is worth for it or should I invest my time in learning Blender software? There are quite a few good movie examples are created using Blender and are shown in its website. Other such opensource cross platform alternatives are also welcome, which can serve my aforementioned purpose.

  • How do I mock a custom field that is deleted so that south migrations run?

    I have removed an app that contained a couple of custom fields from my project. Now when I try to run my migrations I get ImportError, naturally. These fields were very basic customizations like below: from django.db.models.fields import IntegerField class SomeField(IntegerField): def get_internal_type(self): return "SomeField" def db_type(self, connectio=None): return 'integer' def clean(self, value): # some custom cleanup pass So, none of them contain any database level customizations. When I removed this code, I've created migrations so the subsequent migration all ran fine. But when I try to run them on a pre-deletion database I realized my mistake. I can re-create a bare-bones app and make these imports work, but Ideally I would like to know if South has a mechanism to resolve these issues? Or is there any best practises? It would be cool if I could solve these issues just by modifying my migrations and not touching the codebase. (Django 1.3, South 0.7.3)

    Hi, When I install a beta, I do a custom install into a separate folder to the latest release version. I have several old beta installs. How do I uninstall the old custom versions of xcode? Can I just trash the folder? Our do I need to use Terminal? The release notes suggest to use this: $ sudo /Library/uninstall-devtools --mode=all But will this just uninstall my original official release version 3.2? Thanks.

    The original question One of the strength of Unity are the various standardized indicators. I want to customize the sound indicator with an additional menu entry that runs a small shell script. I'm not afraid of a little Python code and I hope someone can point me to the right subroutine in the right file. I suspect that will be fairly easy but all the indicators are just so bloated that I can't look through their code in a reasonable time. Any help is appreciated. I know it is possible as the marvelous Skype-Wrapper does it. Edit 2 - Now a dirty DBus hack The one click problem from one edit before has now turned into a DBus problem. Basically we have to tell the sound indicator that our bogus player has terminated now. A dirty hack navigates around that problem: #!/bin/bash # This is '/home/confus/bin/toggleSpeaker.sh' notify-send "Toggle Speaker" "$(date)" qdbus \ com.canonical.indicator.sound \ /org/ayatana/indicator/service \ org.ayatana.indicator.service.Shutdown exit 0 Help from the community is appreciated as I don't have experience any with DBus whatsoever. Edit 1 - Takkat found a solution but only clickable once? For some reason the solution proposed by Takkat has the drawback that the resulting entry in indicator sound can only be clicked once per session. If someone has a fix for, than please comment or answer, you will be upvoted.     Hi everyone (my first post!), I have an HQL question (in Groovy/Grails) I was hoping someone could help me with. I have a simple Asset object with a one-to-many Tags collection. class Asset { Set tags static hasMany = [tags:Tag] } class Tag { String name } What I'm trying to do in HQL: A user passes in some tags in params.tags (ex: groovy grails rocks) and wants to return Asset(s) that have those tags, and only those exact tags. Here's my HQL that returns Assets if one or more of the tags are present in an Assets tags: SELECT DISTINCT a FROM Asset a LEFT JOIN a.tags t WHERE t IN (:tags) assetList = Asset.executeQuery( hql, [tags:tokenizedTagListFromParams] The above code works perfect, but its really like an OR. If any of the tag(s) are found, it will return that Asset. I only want to return Assets that have those exact same tags (in number as well). Every time a new tag is created, I new Tag(name:xxx).save() so I can get the Tag instances and unique ID's for each tag that was asked for. I also tried converting the passed in tags to a list of Tag instances with Tag.findByName(t1) for each tag, and also a list of (unique) Tag Id's into the HQL above with no luck.     Hello. I have an HTML page that loads two different SWF files. is there a way to dispatch a custom event from one flex application to another ? to create a custom event I extend the Event class and I add another variable to the constructor called params which is an Object. I use EventDispatcher to dispatch the events. I have no idea how to do that between one flex application to the other. is it even possible ? If it's not, is there any other way that these two flex applications can communicate without opening a LocalConnection ? Using flex 4.5 thanks!

  • Differences between WPF Custom Control Library and plain Class Library?

    I posted a question a few months ago about sharing resource dictionaries across assemblies. It turns out you can do that using the Component Resource Key markup extension. At the time, I could only get it working with a WPF Custom Control project, not with a plain Class Library project. Now I need to use an existing plain Class Library project to host a shared resource dictionary. That means I need to retrofit the Class Library project to support the Component Resource Key markup extension. I have added a Themes folder and a Generic.xaml resource dictionary document to the Class Library project, as well as references to PresentationCore, PresentationFramework, and WindowsBase. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to do the trick. So, here is my question: Other than the above, what does a WPF Custom Control Library project have that a plain Class Library project doesn't? Or, to put it another way, what else could I add to my class library project to get this feature working? Thanks.

  • How can I call a method on a custom object created in JavaScript using C#?

    I have a WebBrowser control. I have added some JavaScript into the head tag and I can see it is working as expected by adding an alert. Inside of this js I am creating a function and adding some members to it's prototype like so: function test() { } test.prototype.run = function() { alert('success!') } function createTest() { return new test() } Then back inside of C# I am doing: dynamic test = this.browser.InvokeScript("createTest"); test.run(); I can see that the test object is some ComObject but when I call run() nothing happens. I get no error but nothing happens. Does anyone know how to call this type of custom object? Also suppose I wanted to get rid of the createTest() method, how can I create a new instance of test from C#? Also, for bonus points, is there anything special I need to know about attaching events to this custom object (on say a 'complete' member) such that it will callback into my C# code?

    I created a second user account on my machine, making it a "standard" user account. When I log into that account, most of the panel indicators I've added in my own administrator user account show up here as well -- but not all of them (e.g., the cpufreq indicator shows up in both accounts, but the multiload indicator does not show up in the second account). I'd like to prevent everything but the default panel indicators from a fresh Ubuntu install showing up in the second user's panel.

  • How to use custom color for each textview in listview that extends SimpleAdapter in Android ?

    I have a listview with custom rows and that extends SimpleAdapter. Each row consist of two linear layouts : 1st having two textviews of which one is hidden in horizontal orientation, second having two textviews in horizontal orientation. Now depending on the value in hidden textview , I want to setcolor for the remaining items for the row. To put it as simple: each listview item has some custom colors the value of which comes from the hidden field. I have done this by overriding getview() for the simpleadapter and returning view for each, but this makes list very slow to render (and that I think is obvious as so much of work for each view before showing it). Can I do this in some more efficient way ? like making views and then add up to list instead of using xml layout maybe one solution OR any other ? Any help ? Thanks.

  • Using mercurial and beyond compare 3(bc3) as the diff tool? help needed

    Hi, in windows I am able to use winmerge as the external diff tool for hg using mercurial.ini,etc. Using some options switch that you can find in web(I think it's a japanese website) Anyway, here for example: hg winmerge -r1 -r2 will list file(s) change(s) between rev1 and rev2 in winmerge. I can just click which file to diff but for bc3: hg bcomp -r1 -r2 will make bc3 open a dialog which stated that a temp dir can't be found. The most I can do using bc3 and hg is hg bcomp -r1 -r2 myfile.cpp which will open diff between rev1 and rev2 of myfile.cpp So,it seems that hg+bc3 can't successfully acknowledge of all files change between revision. Only able to diff 1 file at a time. Anyone can use bc3 + hg better ? edit: Problem Solved ! Got the solution from scooter support page. I have to use bcompare instead of bcomp Here's a snippet of my mercurial.ini [extensions] hgext.win32text = ;mhd adds hgext.extdiff = ;mhd adds for bc [extdiff] cmd.bc3 = bcompare opts.bc3 = /ro ;mhd adds for winmerge ;[extdiff] ;cmd.winmerge = WinMergeU ;opts.winmerge = /r /e /x /ub

    What's the minimum implementation needed to make a custom NSView with an editable text area? I assume NSTextFieldCell can be used for this. I've succeeded in drawing the cell in the view (which is straightforward), but making it editable seems to require a more complicated coordination between the view and the cell. Is there sample code available somewhere? Update. I should have made clear that my longer-term goal is to have many more editable text areas on the same view. AFAIU it is better to use cells in that case as they are more light-weight than full-blown views. My updated question is: What's the minimum implementation needed to make a custom NSView with an editable text area using an appropriate NSCell?
