  Hi all, I've a flat file that I cleaned the data out using SSIS, the output looks like that : MEDICAL ADMIT PATIENT PATIENT DATE OF DX REC NO DATE NUMBER NAME DISCHARGE Code DRG # 123613 02/16/09 12413209 MORIBALDI ,GEMMA 02/19/09 428.20 988 130897 01/23/09 12407193 TINLEY ,PATRICIA 01/23/09 535.10 392 139367 02/27/09 36262509 THARPE ,GLORIA 03/05/09 562.10 392 141954 02/25/09 72779499 SHUMATE ,VALERIA 02/25/09 112.84 370 141954 03/07/09 36271732 SHUMATE ,VALERIA 03/10/09 493.92 203 145299 01/21/09 12406294 BAUGH ,MARIA 01/21/09 366.17 117 and the report (final results) attached in the screen shot from the final excel report. so what's happening is IF the same name or same account number is duplicate, that means the patient has entered the hospital again and needs to be included in the report. ![alt text][1] what I need to do is... Eliminate any rows that is NOT duplicate (not everybody in this file has been admitted again) and compare the dates to get the ReAdmitdate and ReDischargedate I dumped the data into a SQL table and trying to compare the dates to figure out "ReAdmitdate" and "ReDischargedate" any help is appreciated. • how to run javascript from c# code ?

  I have a webrequest that returns a html response which has form inside with hidden fields with some javascript that submits the form automatically on pageload ( if this was run in a browser). If I save this file as *.html and run this file in browser , the java script code automatically posts the form and the output is excel file. I want to be able to generate this file from a c# code which is not running in broswer. I tried mocking thr form post but its complicated and has various scenarios based on the original webrequest querystring. any pointers.... i know its not possible to probably run JS code that posts the form - from within c# code but still thought of chekcing if someone has done that.

• SharePoint - DIP problem on local copies downloaded from the portal

  Our users have issues where the Document Information Panel(DIP) appears on Word, Excel, PPT documents. Here is the scenario: User downloads a copy of a template from the portal to his/her local hard drive. User edits that template and renames the file, again saving it to his/her local drive. User continues to edit and update that new document, and it continues to prompt him/her for document information as if the user was saving it on the portal. User clicks the “X” to remove this DIP bar, the next time he/she opens the local file it comes back. Is there anything I can do to make the DIP NOT SHOW on the local copies? Thanks!

• Print Several Outlook MailItems

  I have a pst that has a bunch of emails I want to print using the Microsoft Document Image Writer so that I have a folder, //lawyers/ediscovery/emails/ that has 00001.tiff 00002.tiff etc. In Word or Excel, I can pass the Workbook or Document a filepath to the PrintOut method, but the Outlook MailItem interop's PrintOut doesn't take any arguments, instead only uses the default printer's attributies. I don't have time to type the Bates number for every email (thousands to tens of thousands). Any help on how to tell Outlook where to print to?

• System.XML or Regex.Replace?

  I'm generating a large amount of XML documents from a set of values in an Excel file. The only thing that changes for each XML document is the values. I figured the best way to generate these documents was to make a "XML skeleton" (since the XML format never changes) and then plug in symbols like "&%blahNameblahTest", so then I could just preform a Regex.Replace on each value. I will be handing over this project to another developer and I'm wondering if I should convert the project to generate the XML file manually everytime through the System.XML namespace. The only advantages I see to this is ensuring that the XML document is valid. The current method would be more readable than that method, and way faster since I'm generating around 1500 documents.

• Does Displaytag stash the "media type" in a page or request attribute?

  When you enable "export" from Displaytag, the tag code gives you links with special magic parameters that the tag recognizes as indicators that the table contents should be exported (as CSV, Excel, whatever). Well I'm interested in detecting the media type so that (for example) I can exclude columns that make no sense in an export (embedded action buttons, for one thing, or checkboxes for row selection). I suppose I could write a table decorator and use that to stick the media type on the request, but it'd be nice to avoid that if the tag already does it. The documentation is not clear on the subject; I guess I can start digging through the source code too.

What am I doing wrong? If I don't use the "setFillPattern" line, no color shows up at all.

  Hi! I'm currently facing the problem, that I import an Excel file to a DataGrid. This works pretty fine, but after importing the table, I need to know how many rows are invalid. I have applied several validation rules for the different datatypes, and I have an icon in the row header, that shows up if the row is invalid. But since I have more that 10.000 rows in the grid, I don't want scroll all the way through it to find the errors. Any ideas, how to determine the count of invalid rows (and then maybe bind that to a textbox)? Thx

• Regular expression to remove all text except...

  There may be an easier way, and if there is I'm all for it. However - my ASP.NET page has a TON of controls on it, and I've given them all ID's that start with underscore. I copied all the markup into Notepad++ and I'm trying to find a regular expression that will find everything but the controls and replace it with whitespace. that way I'll have a text file that has all my control names which I'll probably throw into Excel and do some string manipulation to add ".Text = " etc. Any suggestions?

  Hi, I'm uploading a csv/tsv file from a form in GAE, and I try to parse the file with python csv module. Like describe here, uploaded files in GAE are strings. So I treat my uploaded string a file-like object : file = self.request.get('catalog') catalog = csv.reader(StringIO.StringIO(file),dialect=csv.excel_tab) But new lines in my files are not necessarily '\n' (thanks to excel..), and it generated an error : Error: new-line character seen in unquoted field - do you need to open the file in universal-newline mode? Does anyone know how to use StringIO.StringIO to treat strings like files open in universal-newline?

  I have a vector which contains a list co-ordinates ...x1,y1 ; x2,y2....xn,yn I am trying to extract each individual element which is a co-ordinate and then save them to file as a nice delineated co-ord pair which can be easily read. Or what would be nice i to save them so I can plot something in excel e.t.c (as cols of x and y values).   I am trying to track performance on some procedures that run too slow (and seem to keep getting slower). I am using v$session_longops to track how much work has been done, and I have a query (sofar/((v$session_longops.LAST_UPDATE_TIME-v$session_longops.start_time)*24*60*60)) that tells me the rate at which work is being done. What I'd like to be able to do is capture the rate at which work is being done and how it changes over time. Right now, I just re-execute the query manually, and then copy/paste to Excel. Not very optimal, especially when the phone rings or something else happens to interrupt my sampling frequency. Is there a way to have script in SQL*Plus run a query evern n seconds, spool the results to a file, and then continue doing this until the job ends? (Oracle 10g)

I want to export all the products and their SKU's into excel. At the moment, I have a helper SQL function which performs the subquery against a product_id and concatenates all the SKU's into a comma-delimited string, e.g: Product Code, Name, SKUs 111 P1 77, 22, 11 Is there an easier way to do this, so that each SKU is a row which the associated product code as well, i.e: Product Code, Name, SKUs 111 P1 77 111 P1 22 111 P1 11

Is there a way I can get that file witought that pop-up in php? NOTE: I cannot modify the generating page... It is an excel file. The application is called Cognos. I managed with opera to see page variables parsed so I can get to the download page but I must make that download in a folder without the download pop-up

  I love to use Google Documents as MS Word and MS Excel replacements for online collaboration. However, now I need to discuss architecture layout for my software. Nothing too fancy, perhaps a little (pseudo-)UML, but mostly basic shapes (rectangles, ellipses etc.) with labels, connected by thin lines or arrows. In olden Windows times I'd go for Visio, and be happy. But now I want to use online tool. Preferably free. No need for code reverse engineering etc., just plain assisted vector drawing. Any advice?   I need to be able to display and edit a hierarchical list of tasks in a C# app. It can either be a Windows form app, or ASP.NET. Basically, I want similar behaviour to the way Microsoft Project handles tasks. The control would need to: 1) Maintain a list of items made up of several fields 2) Each item can have a number of children (at least 3 levels of nesting) 3) It needs to be very easy to change the parents/children of an item 4) It needs to be very easy to edit the fields (as fast as changing cells in Excel) 5) It needs to be very easy to reorder the items by dragging and dropping or cut and paste 6) If I can easily connect the control to a database, even better Before I go and create something manually, I'm wondering if there is something available already?

  I am new to C#. I have a datagridview with 9 columns. I am simply trying take the value in column 5 and subtract it from column 6. Then display the result in column 9. It seems simple enough.I know it's done in excel all the time. But I just cannot figure this out. Do I need to create a new class with a method called calculate columns? or does the datagridview class have something already built in that can handle this? Again, I am new to C#. • Determine if a specific activity in an application can be launched...

  Applications can have any number of launchable activities. I know how to get the list of these activities via PackageManager. Is there a way to determine which activities can be launched via startActivity? For example, the Documents To Go app has different activities that will start Word, Excel, Powerpoint, PDF, etc... I am able to launch all o these just fine. However, it also contains some activities that I am not able to launch with startActivity... If I attempt to do this I get a SecurityException. I want to be able to determine which activities I can safely launch and which I cannot so I only present the user with a list of activities that I can safely launch from within my application... Is this possible?

  Hi! I'm purposely targeting Java OS 1.4.2 I'm trying to use an iterator combined with apache's POI to read an excel spreadsheet. The code runs perfectly in java 1.5, but in the 1.4.2 version I get the error listed in the question subject. the code is: Iterator myIter = null; it breaks on that line of code, which is clearly at the beginning of the application. I dont understand what needs to be done to correct this issue. Please let me know if you have any insight!
