    How do you disable zsh autocorrect entirely? I am aware of the 'nocorrect' option which only applies to certain commands. But I want it off entirely so that when I type 'lear' instead of 'clear', it won't prompt for a correction.   • Nginx giving a lot of 502 errors

    Since a while I have installed nginx and everything seemed to be working fine, recently I found out that about 20% of the time users are getting 502-errors. This is also noticable when Google tries to crawl my site in Webmaster Tools (from 10000 posts, approx. 2000 502 errors) At first I was thinking to disable nginx, but I'd really like to keep using it. I'm running it on a server with 2GB RAM and 4 Reserved CPU Cores. WHM/cPanel installed and Mod_Ruid2 enabled + DSO as a PHP Handler with APC caching installed. Is there anything I can change in the config, that can fix this?   • avoiding console window display when scheduled task runs batch file

    Hello I have a small batch file which xcopies some files from one folder to another which I've scheduled (via windows scheduled tasks) to run every 1 hour: @echo off xcopy c:\foo c:\bar /E /C /F /Y Since this is my workstation, I'm most probably doing work when the task executes, and then the black dos console window is displayed (lasts 2-3 seconds) and steals window focus. I don't wish to see the files copied and of course the batch file does not ask for any user input. Is there a way to avoid displaying the console completely? thanks

And finally, my question: Will this process ever finish? If those numbers from fseek (48404774912) represent bytes, that would be something like 45 gigabytes, with this beeing a 3 terrabyte disk, which would give me 134 days to go, if the speed stays constant, and e2fsck scans the disk like this completly and only once. Do you have some advice for me? I have most of the data on that disk elsewhere, but I've put a lot of hours into sorting and merging it to this disk, so I would prefer to getting this disk up and running again, without formatting it anew. I don't think that the hardware is damaged since the disk is only a few months and since I can't see any I/O errors in the dmesg output.   • How to fix the IE8 favorites menu?

I can't figure out how it got there or how to disable it, and I have to completely shut IE down and restart it to get rid of it. Any clues on what's going on?

  • Cannot connect to WEBrick on home network

    I'm an Android developer and often my applications require server-side code. I typically use Ruby on Rails for the web app, and during development will run the server on my local machine (Mac OS X) with WEBrick. In the morning when I get to the office, I'll run ifconfig in the console to see what IP my laptop has been given that day. I'll use that IP in my Android app when making requests to the web app in question. This all works fine, when I'm in my office. When I get home, I attempt to do the same thing, find my laptop's IP via ifconfig, set it in my app's config file, but the destination can never be found. To exclude my app from the set of hurdles, I attempt to visit the web server IP (e.g., http://192.168.1.4:3000) from my phone's browser, and it cannot connect. If I try from my laptop, which is running the web server, it works fine. If I try from another machine, on the same network, it also is unable to connect. Given this, I think I've narrowed it down to some kind of configuration in my home network, but I frankly have no idea what the cause could be. I don't have anything special at home, your basic Verizon FiOS router/modem with everything connected via Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi for both phone and laptop at work as well, fyi). I've tried disabling the firewall on my Verizon router, enabling port forwarding, and just about everything else I could do for port 3000, and nothing has changed. Dear Server Fault geniuses, please help a poor developer out. :) Edit: Some follow up items to add. My Mac's firewall is not active, and all incoming requests are allowed. I've also verified on my phone and laptop, that they're on the same network (192.168.1.4 Mac, 192.168.1.9 Phone). I have no idea why this isn't working. Edit 2: I went into System Preferences, enabled Web Sharing, and tried to view the website from my phone and it didn't connect. So it's not WEBrick or related to Rails. The firewall on my machine is off and the firewall on my router is off. Edit 3: Some progress. I set up port forwarding for port 3000 to my laptop, found the external IP, and used that and it connected fine. So, there's definitely something not quite set up correctly on my internal network.

  • Pressing tab to indent a list moves to the next table cell

    I have a list (e.g., a bulleted list) in Microsoft Word. This list is inside a table cell. When I press Tab to increase the indent, rather than increasing the indent, it moves the cursor to the next cell. When I try Ctrl+Tab, it just inserts a tab character without changing the indentation of the bullet (paragraph). How can I turn this off, so it does not go to the next cell but rather just indents the list?

  • I can not start Eclipse anymore

    Today, I can not start Eclipse anymore. It worked fine yesterday, then I got a few Windows Updates before turning off the computer. When I start Eclipse 3.4 today, the UAC ask me for the Administrator password, and then the Eclipse Splash shows up for a short while, after that nothing more happens. And If I try to start Eclipse 3.5, the same thing happens except the UAC. What can the problem be? How can I solve this?

    Some OEM include energy saving apps that can switch off certain devices such as webcam or optical drive. Is there any brand-agnostic app out there that can do it? If the list of disabled device is customizable, it would be useful too for mitigating DMA attack (disabling Firewire, PCMCIA, SDIO, Thunderbolt, etc). Even better if it can recognize lock/logoff event, to mimic OSX behavior in mitigating the DMA attack.

  • Function keys require Fn modifer. How can I make them default?

    On my Dell Studio 15, the function keys, by default, do things like switch the radio on/off or change the brightness or sound. To use them as function keys I have to hold down the Fn modifier. I use function keys as function keys a lot more often than I want to change the volume or brightness. Am I missing an obvious setting somewhere in the control panel (Vista Uber Extreme Something)?

  • Sony VGN-NR260E "External Device Boot"

    [A LITTLE BACKGROUND] On all modern Dell computers pushing the F12 on bios boot will allow for a screen that lets you choose what boot option you need. For example if I want to boot off of a USB flash drive to boot into a live Linux distribution in order to clean virus's on netbooks that do not have CD drives to boot from I would push F12 and choose USB device from the list of options. If this does not show up then I can always go to the F2 bios setup and choose flash drive to be the first option. When I restart the computer it will boot into the flash device. I understand that I can purchase an external USB CD drive and then boot from that. I do not want to use that option. The reason for using a flash device instead of a CD is: A: This USB flash device has several different boot OS's on it that are used. B: The antivirus disks are updated often and burning cd's and throwing away others is wasteful compared to simply updating a flash drive. There is nothing wrong with the flash drive. It works perfect on many other PC's. [PROBLEM] Booting this flashdrive has been working for years on hundreds of computers... I just have this ONE computer that I cannot figure out how to get it to boot on... I have a Sony Vaio that will not boot to this device. I've tried pushing every key combo I can think of (F12, Esc, Del, F10...) and none of these key combinations will bring up the boot menu. I chose F2 and went into the bios and changed the first boot device to USB flash device. This did not work either. There is an astrix next to the device and the note states: "This Drive is available when External Device Boot is Enable." [WHAT I NEED] I need to know How to enable External Device Boot on the Sony Vaio VGN-NR260E laptop. OR How to bring up the Boot Menu to allow me to boot off a flash device.   • Alternate way to create a clone of a UNIX System

    THE STORY: (If you don't like to read much, down below is the question :) ) Where I work we have two HP RP2470 servers same hardware same number of hard drives same everything :). One of them is a production server and runs HP-UX 11.00. The poor ba***rd hasn't been turned off for years and now I have to make a clone of it on the other server - just in case, for redundancy. The problem is simple (or not simple) as I have to make the the other server exactly the same. However the old version of OS (UX 11.00 is a history now) and the old software running on it, have made my task almost impossible. On the production server there is also a cloning/recover utility Ignite-UX. I tried many times to create a recovery tape with it. Then when I load the tape on the backup server, it succeeds with the loading of the tape (no errors no warnings) but on the next restart it fails to load the OS :S and drops into HP`s ISL prompt. --- THE QUESTION: Is there an alternate way to create a clone of the Unix System? The environment is: 1. 2x HP RP2470 Servers (non-Intel), same hardware, same number od HDDs (two each of them) same everything. 2. OS running: HP-UX 11.00 The production server has to be cloned without downtime - sadly :( as I hope that they will reconsider on this one For example (like on Windows platforms), if you try to copy an entire HDD with Windows inside on another HDD, and then put that HDD on another PC it will still work, as long as the hardware is the same. Can I do something like that with a Unix system? Can I somehow COPY the contents of the entire HDD, put those on another HDD, and then just load the HDD into the other server? (If you haven't read the story the servers are exactly the same) Will it work? Can it be done with ordinary commands like cp or dump or something like that? Does any one have a similar experience? --- UPDATE: 26.01.2012 NOTE: The update is related to "The Story". If you haven't read that part then you can skip this update.   • windows xp mode for windows 7 - save text input language settings

    When I change the 'default language' in 'text services and input languages' in windows xp mode from EN-US to DE-DE the settings are reverted with the next logoff / reboot - EN-US is the default language again. Is there a way around this behaviour? I'm using the default 'XPMUser' in windows xp mode. I also checked 'turn off advanced text services' and disabled the language bar and windows xp remembers these settings - just not the default language..
