  I'm getting the following error while sending email. What could be the cause? Client does not have permission to submit mail to this server. • ASP.NET remote debugging using Visual Studio 2008

  Im having issues getting this to work, maybe its not even possible? I have a PUBLIC Server http://publicserver.com I want to debug using my laptop from my home (for instance) I run msvsmon.exe on the public server, it starts up fine. On my local machine, i have my code open and in VS, i choose Debug-Attach for Qualifier i enter publicserver.com, but it tells me it cannot find it Questions: 1.) What port does remote debugging use? If i port sniff i dont see msvsmon.exe opening any new port ... Does it use 4015 by default? I dont think its a security thing, so please dont point me to the articles, i have followed them as much as i can, but they dont work for my scenerio (unless you find one i havent seen) Thanks :-)

  Hi all. I have a client-server Silverlight application, which is use Socets. I have server appliaction on may computer(Win Form application) and client applucation as web site(Silverlight application). I use policy server which open port 943. Everything works fine on this application. But now I need to write another client-server application. Server for that application olso use port 943 for policy connection. When I try to run this 2 server applications on the same compyeter an excepten is thrown which says that only one application can work on port 943. How can I solve this problem? Thanks.

• Reusable socket

  I tryed to create a socket in php and reuse it from other process. I know this can be done with a daemon script but I want to do this without. I created a socket and binded it to a specific port. $sock = socket_create (AF_INET, SOCK_STREAM, SOL_TCP); socket_set_option ($sock, SOL_SOCKET, SO_REUSEADDR, 1); socket_bind ($sock, 'xx.xx.xx.xx', 10000); socket_connect ($sock, $host, $port); And from another php file I did the same thing. But the packets that I send from the 2 file are not "validated" by host. I sniffed all ports and I see that it uses same local and destination port. I don't understand where is the problem. Can you help me with this? It's ok in any other programming language, or any other solution for this. Andrew

• Can squid forward DNS queries to a DNS server?

  This might something be completely impossible to achieve, but before I give it a shot thought I might get some advice from a fellow geek. Would squid proxy DNS queries as well? I would like to forward DNS queries to go through squid and use squid's DNS error page, of course by customizing it. I see the DNS queries are hitting my squid box on UDP port 53. I can setup a port forwarding so that all these queries get sent to squid's port 3128. But would squid understand its a DNS query and forward those queries to the dns server set in squid.conf? I hope my question is clear but please shout up and I would be glad to give you some more info if needed. Thanks guys!

  Hi, I have a FTP connection manager in SSIS. I have configured it with serevr IP, port number, user name, and password. It was working fine. But suddenly its stopped working. But i am able to login directly to the FTP web site directly .It was not working temporarily.But now its working with same login credentials. But my FTP connection manager in SSIS is unable to connect to the server. with following Error message "connection cannot be established.server name ,port number ,credentials may be invalid" What could be the reason? I have checked servername,port and login credentials all are same. Note: This is a ssl ftp website(https://xxx.xx.xx.com/) Some one please look into this isssue and provide a solution. Thanks SNA

• OpenLayers: Raise event when map is zoomed or moved by user

  I'm using OpenLayers to display OpenStreetMap maps. (Though, I'd assume this should be general enough to work for any map product...) I'm displaying some very sophisticated vector overlays, and the amount and resolution of the features I'm returning from the server via GeoJSON to overlay has proven too much for many computers. What I'd like to do now instead is to only send data befitting the resolution of the current zoom, and fitting the current view port. This should be relatively easy to do using the GetResolution and CalculateBounds methods on the Map object. However, I don't know when to call these methods because I can't find a way to register a function to be called when the user pans the map (changing the view port) or zooms the map (changing the resolution and view port). How can I get a callback when the user pans or zooms the map?

• How do you interface with a USB to Parallel adapter?

  I'm currently doing a project where I have to interact with a circuit I made through the parallel port of a computer. However, my computer doesn't have a parallel port so I borrowed a Parallel to USB adapter cable. The cable didn't come with any drivers, but it's recognized by the device manager as a "USB Printing Support" controller, under the USB section. It seems that old parallel printers can be plugged in and work properly without any problems. So my question is, if I write a program in Java that tries to interact with a parallel port directly, will it work? And if not, can anyone give me some pointers as to what I need to do to interact with it? Thanks.

• How could I get informations about the SIM card on Windows CE

  Hello, I am using a device running on WindowsCE 5.00. I cannot connect the GPRS, there is an error message telling that the port cannot be opened and may be in use by another application. I am not sure but I think the port it is talking about is a comp port to the SIM card that cannot be opened because the SIM doesn't work anymore. To tell the truth, it is likely that one of my coworker did lock the SIM and kept his mouth shut ... How could I get any information about the SIM on Windows CE ?   How can you set rate limit access to API using Iptables. Tried to set limit using port 80, but I don't want to set limit to the web access entirely. Is there a way to specified a subdomain rather than port. Example: set rate limit to api.example.com not example.com? If there is no way to set rate limit by subdomain, what is the suggested rate limit access to port 80 without risking blocking a legitimate web user? One connection per second would be enough?

• python and paramiko: how to check if end of ssh tunnel is still alive and reestablish if not?

  Hello all, I'm trying to achieve the following: I have two hosts A and B. A establishes a remote port forwarding tunnel on B, i.e. B is the one a port is forwarded on to some where else and A is the one that sets up the tunnel. I tried the script rforward.py that ships with paramiko and it works very well so far. (I'm running rforward.py on A, which connects to B and forwards a port of B to somewhere else) However, when B is shutting down, A doesn't seem to recognize it. I'd rather like A to recognize that B is down and to try to reestablish the connection periodically in case B comes up again. Is there a way to do this? Thanks.

• CakePHP 'Cake is NOT able to connect to the database'

  I've looked at this post about a similar issue: CakePHP: Can't access MySQL database and I've tried everything they mentioned in there including: Changing my database.php so that the 'port' attribute for both $default and $test are the location of my mysqld.sock file Changing the 'port' attribute to the actual integer that represents the port in my my.cnf mysql config Changing the mysql socket locations in php.ini to the location of my mysqld.sock file I'm using ubuntu 11.04, apache 2.2.17, mysql 5.1.54, and CakePHP 1.3.10. My install of mysql and apache don't seem to match any conventions, as in, all the config files are there, they are all just in really weird places--I'm not sure why that is, but I've tried reinstalling both programs multiple times with the same results... At any rate, I can log into mysql from the terminal and use it normally, and apache is working because I can see the CakePHP default homepage. I just can't get it to change the message 'Cake is NOT able to connect to the database'. SOLVED: Figured it out, had to change php.ini so that extension_dir pointed to the correct directory and had to add a line extension=mysql.so.

  What I mean is like servers on video games. You can run an application and it will set up a server on your computer with an IP and a port. For example, how would you make an application where one host application sets up a thing where it has an IP and a port, and another computer that has access to the internet as well can type in the IP and port and it would be able to communicate with the host? I mean simple communication, like sending a boolean or String. And would there be any security problems that would be needed to fix?

• Android Source code download error

  Hi all I have followed the instructions on the Android website on how to download the latest android source code files but it gives errors when i run this command: repo init -u git://android2.git.kernel.org/platform/manifest.git It gives the following error: Getting repo ... from git://android.git.kernel.org/tools/repo.git android.git.kernel.org[0: 199.6.1.176]: errno=Connection refused android.git.kernel.org[0: 130.239.17.12]: errno=Connection refused fatal: unable to connect a socket (Connection refused) On checking forums for its resolution, i was told that port 9418 was being blocked. I use Ubuntu 10.04 and ensured that the firewall wasnt blocking the port and also enabled the port and the above IP addresses. I also spoke to the networking peeps who ensured that no traffic from the internet is being blocked. I would be glad if i could get directions on how to proceed next. Many thanks as you respond. • Verizon Fivespot firewall exceptions

  I have a Verizon Fivespot Wi-Fi router and am having issues connecting to the computer that uses it to get on the internet. I am able to connect to the Fivespot admin pages remotely and I am able to connect to the internet from the computer behind the Fivespot. I've tried asking this on superuser but have gotten nothing, I figure this is pertinent to programmers working on remote computers as well. There are two sections pertinent to this issue, Port Filtering And, Port Forwarding I've tried each individually and both together but cannot access anything through the router except for the admin page. I am trying to connect through SSH on Port 22 to an Ubuntu 10.04 box over wifi. I have called Verizon Tech Support but they were unhelpful, the person essentially read what it says on each screen without any elaboration. Any help is greatly appreciated!

  I've recently been working with an opensource library for a commercial product. The opensource code is distributed from the website of the company who sells the proprietary product as a zip file. The library is a (direct) port to C# of the original library which is in Java. As such, it uses methods instead of getter/setter properties. The code contains copyright notices to the supplier of the product. The C# port was originally provided to the company by a 3rd party individual. I have modified the source to be more C# like and added a couple of small features. I want to put my version of the code out there (Google code or where ever) so that C# users of the software can benefit from a more native feeling library. • Is this safe on a production server?

  I have a database application (or search engine) which is called Solr. I connect to it via port 8983. I do this from php code, so I add and remove records from it via php. On my server I have a firewall. I have set this firewall to only allow connections to and from this port (8983) from the ip adress of my own server. In other words, only allow servers IP to access this port. Is that safe? Or am I thinking all wrong here? Will others be able to "simulate" my ip adress and act as the server? This is because otherwise others may add/remove records as they want from their own ip adresses... Thanks

• Strange IP addresses in tomcat

  Some where I have this in some generic class. public static String getRequestIp (HttpServletRequest request){ String ipaddr = request.getHeader("X-FORWARDED-FOR"); if (ipaddr == null)ipaddr = request.getRemoteAddr(); return ipaddr; } For every request i call that method and in a certain moment i insert a record in a mysql database. In most cases it works normally and i can see a record for every request with a valid ip address in the right field. But sometimes where the IP should be there is something like this. "unknown, 93.186.30.120" or "10.0.1.169, 186.38.84.3" Apache is at the front listening at port 80 and used as proxy to Tomcat that listens at port 8081. My router config would not allow to pass any conection that come by any port other than 80. Any Help? Thanks in advance.
