• Can Autodesk Flame run with an nVidia Quadro FX3800 SDI and output to preview through SDI???

  I am running on Linux RHEL 4.3, DKU 5.0.1. Everything seems to be ok on the xorg.conf and init.cfg, but when I start my projects and Flame enables output to preview I start having preview on my SDI monitor and stop seeing on my main monitor (which is connected to the DisplayPort). Could it be posible that Flame needs Quadro FX4x00/5x00 series with dual DVI to output both monitors?? Cause the FX3800 has only one DVi (which is connected to the SDI card) and 2 DisplayPorts as additional output monitors. Anyone knows a config or workaround this problem?? Thanks ahead!!!

• Camtasia on remote computer?

  I have a need to use one laptop for a live presentation (with projector, etc.), but record that presentation on another laptop -- similar to what I can do with Camtasia, only with the recording happening on another laptop. Is this possible? What do I need to do this? Some VGA device that goes between the presenting machine and the projector? Some USB device? My ideal requirements: The machines must be "standard" laptops (so I can't just add a new card to a desktop, etc.). I prefer a hardware solution, but cannot involve studio type equipment. I'd prefer not to install Camtasia (or similar) on the presenting machine for two reasons: licensing issues performance issues (sometimes the presentations are machine intensive and I don't want the recording software to interfere with the presentation) I'd appreciate any tips. • Understanding why a 450W power supply is destroying my ATX motherboards but not mATX

  Maybe I'm missing something really obvious here, but after going through 3 new motherboards in trying to build my new machine, I'm finally certain that the 450W power supply I bought has been destroying them. It seems like it should be simple: just connect the connectors where they fit and switch the thing on. But today after hooking it to my ASUS Sabertooth 990FX TUF Series Motherboard and switching it on, I could see and smell the smoke coming out of the motherboard. What I don't get is why I can hook this same 450W power supply up to my mATX motherboard and not run into the same problem. What am I missing here? Where on the box or manual is this? (I have 8x2 GB RAM, AMD FX-4100 3.6GHz CPU, 1 512MB ATI graphics card, 1 WD 7200 RPM SATA hard drive. )

  I have vyataa router on VMware with 2 interfaces eth0 and eth1 eth0 is facing the internet eth0 is in Nat mode with dhcp on eth1 is in bridged mode with my ethernet with ip 10.0.2.34/24 The ethernet card is at ip 10.0.2.95/24 i have defined the nat rule. Hence internet is available at eth1 too. Now i am connecting a wireless router at "eth1" iball router, I have connected the router using a cable to the ethernet interface of my laptop. I have configured the WAN connection type as "Static IP" and given "10.0.2.34/24" All the clients that connect using wireless router cannot connect to the internet though. Could anyone provide me a solution for this.. Thank You!!

• Windows XP Blue-Screens And Reboots Instantly On Boot-Up

  My computer was running perfectly until yesterday; my internet suddenly died. Being wireless, I decided to reboot; now the computer doesn't boot. It shows the "Starting Windows" screen (safe mode loads several drivers), then it suddenly blue-screens and immediately reboots (I cannot read the blue-screen contents at all). I've tried safe-mode (with and without networking); no dice. I booted another HD with another XP install and ran scandisk on my HDs; no bad sectors, and even with auto-repair, it didn't fix the problem. Now what? What are my options to fix the broken XP install? I'm thinking: 1) Remove wireless card 2) Run XP install CD and repair installation 3) ???

• Configuring NVIDIA Quadro with Dell Precision M4600

  After a frustrating couple of weeks when I recently bought my Dell Precision laptop, I managed to fix an issue where Ubuntu (yes, was NOT using Windows, get serious) would not recognize the video card and would cause all sorts of problems all over the place. I ended up one Saturday morning nearly throwing this thing away, when I managed to find a post about NVIDIA Optimus technology... ( http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2358963,00.asp ). Now I am a huge advocate of disruptive new stuff, as long as we keep the broader audience in mind. Anyhow, disabling this (which as the BIOS settings state only work on Windows 7 or later), effectively allow the NVIDIA based Ubuntu driver to kick in full force. No need for a trash can anymore thankfully. As I saw multiple posts all over the place about this, check your BIOS, disable and try the video again to see if this corrects your issues. Best of luck!

• Volume randomly turning itself down on Windows 7 64-bit

  This is the weirdest issue I've ever encountered with my PC. Every so often, my sound will start playing back at a lower volume. This happens when watching video, listening to music, all independently. It usually lasts anywhere up to a minute, after which it will turn up again. The weird thing about it is that the volume control in Windows remains at 100%, even though the volume is audibly a lot lower. (No, I'm not going deaf, it's just my PC. I checked.) I just have no idea where to go to troubleshoot this, even. I'm using Windows 7 64-bit with an on-board Realtek sound-card. Oh, just in case someone finds this question on Google or whatever, making sure this is on Do Nothing may fix your problem. Unfortunately, it did not work for me. My settings all seem fine. This is my audio slider. (Took the screenshot while the issue showed.)

• Black screen during startup

  Hello, I've got a friend with a weird problem. When he starts his computer the screen is completely black untile the computer is completely started. So the screen is black until it suddenly shows the windows desktop. He said that this is happening since a technical service repaired his computer, but that repairment is not now in warranty. Recently the computer stopped working, but as the screen is black he cannot access to Bios or to secure start-up (by pressing F8). When he inserts the Windows Vista DVD the system doesn't boot from DVD (it musn't be configured in this way in the Bios.) Maybe there´s a problem with the hardware (maybe the graphic card). Can anyone explain a reason why the screen is black during start-up? Any idea of what to do with the computer to restore it? Thanks.

• Cloning a linux system from sdx to cciss

  I have an HP ML 310 server running CentOS Linux 5.5. I'm buying a RAID card (LSI 9260-8i) to set up a mirrored OS drive. Right now, the boot drive is set up with GRUB installed on the MBR of /dev/sda & has a 100MB /boot partition for /dev/sda1, then the rest is configured in LVM with a 20GB with a 20GB VG for the root partition & ~80GB VG for home. The new disk sizes will also be slightly larger as well. What is the best way to clone the boot drive to the new CCISS device?

• Please help to troubleshoot the issue with Inspiron 8600 laptop

  Hello! I have a Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop which display stopped working all of the sudden. It started to show a purple fog pattern along with some color vertical lines. I talked to Dell support and they told me that is a screen gone bad and I should get a new one which I did. But surprisingly the new display won't work either! The pattern on the screen is different but still no picture. So I tried to connect the old display to another laptop (Lenovo Z61) and it turns out it works just fine with it! So please help me to identify the cause of the issue. I think it could be a video card but the external display works flawlessly. I appreciate your thoughts about it so I won't need to buy spares which I don't need. Thank you! P.S. Please do not suggest to contact Dell support again.

• Storing Cards and PCI Compliance

  I'm developing a SaaS service and will be managing payments as a merchant for customers, and since we'll be using multipe payment processors depending on users location, amount and other factors so its important to store card details. I did some research and from what I understood all you need is a PCI compliant host (VPS, Dedicated or Private Cloud) and get it validated and certified through some provider like TrustWave etc... Is that correct or am I missing something? Also, would be great if you could suggest a few (not necessasrily cheap, but affordable) PCI compliant hosts. Many thanks

• Monitor "forgot" its native resolution overnight

  I have: Hanns G HW173A monitor NVIDIA GTX 460 graphics card Windows XP SP3. It was working. Suddenly overnight I can no longer use my monitor's native resolution of 1440x900. It's not listed, and if I force it it only shows part of the screen. The only resolution that seems to fit the whole screen is now 1024x768. I have tried reinstalling the NVIDIA drivers as well as disabling and enabling the monitor drivers (for windows XP the monitor uses the microsoft "default monitor" drivers - this is what Hanns G says on their website too). • How do I record sound from my CD/DVD player without other system sounds in the mix?

  Using GoldWave I can record via the "Stereo Mix" channel, but I get no sound on the "CD" channel. Of course, using the stereo mix also mixes in all system sounds, including beeps, etc. I have the analog out on the DVD player connected to the CD-IN connector on the MoBo. I can hear CDs and DVDs playing just fine through my speakers - is this because the CD is also IDE data connection in to deliver the sound to the sound card, then? I specifically want to record a DVD; I can easily rip a CD using GoldWave's built-in ripper. Is there anything I have forgotten or have to enable? Or is it likely I have a damaged cable? My system is an MSI mobo and is running Windows XP SP3.

• Is Windows Server 2003 on 96 MB possible?

  I have an old laptop, a Pentium II with 96 MB. I have had Windows 2000 on it for ages, it was slow but usable. But now I have to upgrade since I can't get my USB-wlan drivers to install (the old PCMCIA network card broke). I would prefer to install Windows XP but I have no spare licence, but I do have a Windows Server 2003 licence. Do you think it's possible (and usable) to squeeze in 2003 on this computer? Edit: Unfortunately 2003 simply refuses to install on the laptop. It hangs with an error message (paraphrased) 2003 has detected a problem with your computer and has halted the installation to prevent damage. And then some error codes This happens very early in the installation while it's copying the installation files just after I accepted the licence. So I give up for now.

  I have a website through which I am going to sell few products. It is hosted on a simple shared-hosting and does not have SSL. On the products page, each product has a Buy Now button created from my PayPal Merchant account. PayPal recommends to use it's Button Factory to create secure buttons and save it inside PayPal itself. I have followed the same advice and the code of any button is secure and does not disclose any information on either a product or it's price. When the user clicks on a Buy Now button, he/she is taken to PayPal site where a page is opened in SSL for the user to fill in the credit card and shipping details. After a successful transaction, the control is passed back to my site. I want to know whether there is still any chance when security could be compromised.

• Why has my Mac been running fsck_hfs for two days now?

  I first noticed that fsck_hfs was running, taking up 50-75% of a CPU, yesterday. It continues to run today. ps shows that it is doing /sbin/fsck_hfs -f -n -x -E /dev/disk3. Only problem: I don’t think I have a /dev/disk3. Why is it running? Will it ever finish? Can I kill it? What is /dev/disk3? Could it be my Time Machine volume, which is not mounted at the moment? System Info: MacBook Pro (2008). It has two disks installed—the internal disk (/dev/disk1) and a PC Card SSD (/dev/disk0, surprisingly). It connects to a remote Time Machine volume attached to an Airport Extreme base station.

• Bios wont post unless I restart power supply.

  I have an annoying problem with a computer. The BIOS wont post after it has been turned off and started again unless I turn the switch off/on on the power supply. The fans, cdrom hdd and everything starts running but the bios never beeps and the monitor stays black. I HAVE TRIED: reinstalling windows xp, flashed bios to latest, cmos clear, new power supply, other hdd, new memory sticks, graphics card. I also removed the motherboard from the computer case and laid it on a cardboard box and only connected the PSU, RAM and CPU. Other than this the computer works great but its annoying having to off/on the power supply switch before turning it on after its been off. My guess is that the motherboard is faulty but I would just like to hear what you guys think. Sorry for my english / Remy

  What are my options to forward two USB connected phones to xen guest? I've read about PCI-passthrough http://www.wlug.org.nz/XenPciPassthrough, but I'm sure usb controller in the server isn't a pci card. There's device level forwarding, but I need to forward two devices, this here doesn't say how to do it: http://www.olivetalks.com/2008/02/03/usb-forwarding-on-xen-it-just-does-not-work/ Would something as simple as: usbdevice = [ 'host:xxx', 'host:yyy', ] work? • Why is Windows Explorer not responding?

  I am having the seemingy popular problem with Widows Explorer not responding. I have tried the AUTRUNS and turned off everything recommended. I have run SCANNOW 3 times and it comes back clean. When booting in safe mode it appears to work. I read someplace that the problem could be a service program, but can't remember where I read it or how to do it. Something about turning off all service programs and then turning them back on one at a time. The problem is I don't remember what it said to do. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. as an FYI here is my system stats Sorry I can't access that part of control panel right now because windows explore not responding. I have an HPdesk top with a AMD quad core processor 1.8GB 1.5TB sata drives (a 1TB and a 500GB) Nvidia 8400 graphics card a 2mb internet connetion wireless 2 DBD R?W drives.   Hi everybody, I am using bsnl broadband connection, modem: wa3002g1 os: xp(86x) / vista(64x) A few days back I have changed the modem (don't know the previous modem no) because of some issues. since then I am not able to open most of the websites in firefox, IE6/8, chrome, opera. If i connect with other network like reliance data card, those websites are opening, if i connect bsnl the problem will be same again. I called to customer care many times, but no use. • How to host multiple subdomain on another server

  Hi all, I have one webserver and one Application server. Webserver1 have FreeBSD 8.1, Apache, MySQL and PHP. Application1 server have Centos 5.5, Apache, Mysql and PHP. Both server running fine independently. My webserver1 is hosting my company website www.azrim.com which running good. Besides I have 2 online application which requires me to host them as a subdomains. My questions is I want to make subdomains such as abc.azrim.com and xyz.azrim.com is accesscible from Application1 server. Can anyone pls help me on this. What should I do on apaches configuration on both webserver1 and Apps1 server. I only have 1 NIC card on my Apps1 server. Really appreciate anyone who got the solution. Thanks Azrim
