• PHP: Simple, Validate if string is hex?

  I have no clue how to validate this string. I am simply supplying an IV for an encryption, but can find no "is_hex()" or similar function, I can't wrap my head around it! I read on a comment in the php documentation (user contrib. notes) this: if($iv == dechex(hexdec($iv))) { //True } else { //False } But that doesn't seem to work at all.. It only says false. • Why htmlspecialchars_decode in PHP does not have the charset parameter as in its counterpart?

  There is a charset parameter in htmlspecialchars but the decode version does not have it. In comparison to the similar htmlentities, the encode and decode functions both have the charset parameter. So I can't choose what charset I am decoding back to?

• RIA: Manipulate DOM

  I want to display a website embedded in my own site and modify the DOM (e.g. change a button's color/size), similar to what Firebug is capable of. I'm aware of the security issues that arise - my plan is to use this approach to do live website usability testing (A/B style). • Is there a good way of displaying required field indicators when using DataAnnotations in MVC 2?

  I've got validation working with DataAnnotations on all my models, but I'd like to display an indicator for required fields on page load. Since I've got all my validation centralized, I'd rather not hard-code indicators in the View. Calling validation on load would show the validation summary. Has anyone found a good way of letting the model determine what's required, but checking it upon rendering the view, similar to Html.ValidationMessageFor?

• How do I get results from a link query in the order of IDs that I provide?

  I'm looking to get query results back from Linq in the order that I pass IDs to the query. So it would look something like this: var IDs = new int [] { 5, 20, 10 } var items = from mytable in db.MyTable where IDs.Contains(mytable.mytableID) orderby // not sure what to do here select mytable; I'm hoping to get items in the order of IDs (5, 20, 10).   Hi everyone, Using Lightbox for a photo gallery and would like to initiate the function by clicking on the thumbnail's parent <li>rather than the thumbnail image. I have been able to do this easily with the thumbnail for the album (not using Lightbox, simply opening another page) with the following code: $(".item").click(function(){ window.location=$(this).find("a").attr("href");return false; }); However, can't seem to initiate Lightbox in a similar fashion.   Normally visual studio brings up intellisense for available css classes, which it draws from css files linked to the current aspx/master document. Is there a way to get this to work in an ascx file in a similar way to referencing external JavaScript files in js files for the purpose of intellisense /// <reference path="jquery-1.4.1.js" /> I only want this for the purpose of intellisense and not getting squiggly lines under un-recognised classes.
