• Is there a simple shopping cart I can add to my existing website?

  I created a website for my wife, who knits scarves. The site simply displays the 18 different colours she has created, with a Lightbox-like large photo available when clicked. She would now like to give visitors the option to purchase online and pay with PayPal and possibly Google Checkout. We do not need a full ecommerce solution; I've looked at several and they all seem to be overkill for our requirements. We don't even need categories. "All" I want is something that will add products to a cart, take the customer details and integrate the payment provider. So far, the best solution I have found seems to be this script on Codecanyon and I wanted to find out if anyone knows of any better products before I commit to this route. Thanks for your help!

• How do I comperes and split files with terminal

  So what I wanted to do. comperes(7zip) and split 600MB folder into 199MB parts but sadly when I tried to do this task with archive manager it gave me an error, but I know that if I use terminal it will work. I looked this up in askubuntu and found out about this commend 7z a -v5m -mx0 ubuntu.7z I understand that v5m will split it to 5 mb parts and -mx0 means that it will not comperes it but I want it to comperes so what should I write instead of this -mx0 pleas note: I am using .7zip because I most probably will use this file on windows pc thank you in advanced

• Which API for cross platform mobile audio?

  This question focuses on the API's available on phones. I'd been planning to use OpenAL in my game for maximum portability. It runs great on Linux so I can quickly develop the Game and leverage it's superior debugging tools. However I've recently heard that Android doesn't support OpenAL well. Instead they've gone with a OpenSL ES library. What I'm looking for is a free Audio library that I can use with minimal custom code on iPhone, Android, and my Linux desktop. Does such an API exists? Some extra details: The game is written in C++ with custom minimal front ends. ObjC for iPhone, Java for Android, and SFML for Desktops. I'm using OpenGL ES for portability as iPhone doesn't support the more advanced OpenGL APIs.

• CakePHP pair programming practise

  We are on the stage of planning a CakePHP project. It is a relatively a big project for us, as a developer+project manager, I want to hire someone to work with me. But what I really want is to spend less time on actual coding, without losing control of the code quality. What I want to do is that I will design all the functions of the project in CakePHP, at least all the model's functions, and leave the implementation part to the coder who I am going to hire. But my worry is still if I am going to lose control of the code quality using this approach? is it feasible to do so or it is going to turn this project to a chaos. • 11.10 does not restore open apps in hibernate, works like shutdown

  I noticed that my 11.10 does not hibernate. When I hibernate, and starts PC, it doesn't restore all my open apps etc. Its like a shutdown ... why might that be? UPDATE Output from gsettings http://pastie.org/2926504 Using a vanilla Ubuntu Desktop 11.10 installed yesterday (no more from alternate CD, but problem still persists) I dont see any options in BIOS for S1, S3 or ACPI, are they hidden somewhere?   I am 23 and working as a Software Developer. Though my work is entirely based on Java and Advanced Java, I know a very little and all my interest is in developing games. • Bukkit send a custom placed name plate?

  Hello i have been working on a part of my plugin that has waypoints allowing the user to create delete etc. I got to thinking after using and seeing a couple of the disguse plugins. That maybe i could create a command toggle that would show the user where the waypoints they have are! I know how to do all of this i just have no idea how to display a nameplate to the client. I know its possible because disguisecraft does it i tried looking though their code but couldent find much... I belive to get this effect i need to send packets to the client if someone can direct me to a list of bukkit packets or even a solution to sending the client a custom located nameplate that would be fantastic! • Allow visitor to print something they bought only 1 time

  I am doing a website that needs to only let the customer print out what they bought 1 time. There are websites that currently do this and they mentioned Adobe Flash Player, Adobe AIR and the Sheet Music Plus AIR application. We would need to block programs like adobe distillation and any virtual printers while only allowing an instant print after purchase. I am not an adobe air developer. Would their be any other ways to accomplish this and what would be the easiest. Thank you. Would their be a way to not allow printing to a virtual printer ie adobe pdf?

  here is a little trick to debug the JavaScript inside Visual studio or express edition of VWD get all included office updates  from Microsoft updates install them. enable the script debugger for IE or others inside internet explorer go to IE > internet options > advance > browsing open a website in Visual studio or express put the breakpoint in JavaScript code and run them after setting as default browser internet explorer. when the breakpoint function called he automatically show you all about the code you breakpoint. you can also change them and find the result in browser. for advance debugging their are many option already known in visual studio work same as C# debugging like Advanced Window, Local  , watch you can use all these 3 window for JavaScript debugging.

• How do I configure multiple domain names on my IIS server? [closed]

  We have a few websites that we are running on one instance of IIS that need to be mapped for each of their domain names. For example. Site A has the domain name coolness.com Site B has the domain name 6to8Weeks.com Site C has the domain name PhatTech.com When I look at the "Web Site Identification" section of the IIS configuration window, I notice that I can specify an IP address and port, but if I click the Advanced button, I can also configure the site based on host header values as well. How do I configure each site in IIS? Ideally I would like them to all be able to listen to port 80, so I don't have weird URLs, but I'm not sure if I do this using headers, IP addresses, both, or something else.

• Why can't flowcharts or mathematical equations created in Microsoft Office and saved in .docx format be opened by LibreOffice?

  I am using Ubuntu 11.10 and LibreOffice that comes with it. Before this , I was a Windows user and some of my previous documents were saved in .docx format. I tried to use LibreOffice to open those .docx file and I can view all text, however I can't view the flowchart I drew and also mathematical equations. Another issue is, if I create new flowchart with LibreOffice and save it in .docx file, when I re-open that file, I can't view those flowcharts, but those flowcharts are there, occupied space. No problem for .odt format of course. Does anyone know why this happens? Thanks in advanced.

  I think I've seen "questions" like this on stackoverflow but sorry if I'm overstepping any bounds. Inspired by my recent question and all the nice answers (Checklist for finished game?) I think every gamedev out there has something he/she thinks that almost every game should have. That knowledge is welcome here! So this is probably going to be an inspirational subjective list of some sorts and the point is that anyone reading this question will see a point or two that they've overlooked in their own development and might benefit from adding. I think a good example might be: "some sort of manual or help section. Of course it should be proportional to how advanced the game is. Some users won't need it and won't go looking for it but the other ones that do will become very frustrated if they can't remember how to do something specific that should be in the manual". A bad example might be "good gameplay". Of course every game benefits from this but the answer is not very helpful.

• Performance impact of not implementing relationships at the database level?

  Let's imagine a data model with customers and invoices. There is a 1 to n relationship between a customer and its invoices. We uses an ORM (like Hibernate). One can explicitely implement the 1-n relationship (using JPA for example) or not. If not, then one must do a bit more work to fetch invoices. However, it is much easier to maintain, improve and develop the data model of applications where relationships between objects are not explicitely implemented in the database. My question is, has anyone noticed a significant performance impact when not implementing the relationships in the database?

• Redirect from domain to other one

  I deal with the following problem. I am customer of one domain reseller, which has fair prices, fine administration, and I have all my domains registered by it. Recently I've created a new webpage using a free web service (those sites where you can create a simple webpages with some template after few clicks). This new web page has default address in the following form: "pagename.provider.cz", but I want to use my own domain "pagename.cz". And that is the problem, because the provider would assign domain name to my presentation only if I registered mentioned domain by him. That wouldn't be a problem, but he is three times more expensive then my favorite one. So I am thinking about registering domain "pagename.cz" under my favorite registrator and then making 301 PHP redirect from it to "pagename.provider.cz". Shall this affect (negatively) my domain ranking? Are there any catches which I shoud care about?

• Learning programming

  I am a senior & am a retired R.N., always good at math (50+ yrs ago, but still am). I have been in a computer users group since the mid 90's, & have become moderately advanced in using computers, including trouble-shooting other people's computer problems. Most of my expertise was gained by reading, asking questions, & trying my own trouble-shooting with the help of books & the internet. Now,I would like to take the next step and learn programming. What would be the best way for me to learn programming? Attending classes isn't a practical option, and I'm not in a position to spend much money. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. • What is "egoless programming"?

  I first heard this term about fifteen years ago. My understanding is similar to that described in the Wikipedia article and a TechRepublic article: you work with your colleagues in a "friendly, collegiate way in which personal feelings are put aside". It includes things like doing peer reviews with mutual respect and a desire to learn, and not feeling like you "own" code, so if somebody has a suggestion or says there's a bug or needs to change it, you don't get defensive about it. I've also thought it was largely about having an attitude that makes for good relations with other programmers with the goal of improving the code. So I haven't seen it as being incompatible with taking pride in the quality of your work or feeling regret if something you did caused your customer a problem. However, an answer to a recent question makes me think some other programmers have different understandings about "egoless programming". So what is the correct definition? And what are its implications?
