  • Is there any sql interpreter for objects?

    Is there any interpreter that takes a string or even a custom object as input and execute it on my datasource? I cannot use linq to object because query always changes and the report i'm working on, has about 6000 queries which i can reduce to 9 if i find some tool doing that for me.     When generating a strongly-typed Index view for my model I always get the following: <%= Html.ActionLink("Edit", "Edit", new { /* id=item.PrimaryKey */ }) %> I am using a POCO class for use with our ORM. As I understand it when using LINQ to SQL the view code will know which field is the primary key. Is there a way that I can an attribute to the property (or class) that will let the View Generator know that the ID property if the primary key?

    Hi In LINQ to SQL, you can override SubmitChanges and use the method this.GetChangeSet() to get all the inserts, updates and deletes so that you can make last minute changes before it is committed to the database. Can this be done in EF 4.0? I see there is a override for SaveChanges but I need to know the equivalent for GetChangeSet()

    I want to generate Entity Framework 4.0 classes from a (legacy) database from a command line, but I have 2 transformations I want: Tables/columns are lowerCamelCase and I want my classes/members to be UpperCamelCase. I want to suffix my classes with "Dto". Any idea how this might be accomplished? I'm a total newbie to EF, but I have a decent understanding of Linq to Sql and was able to accomplish the same task by doing: sqlmetal - dbml - xml mapping file and .cs file.

  • Comparison of IPEndPoint objects not working

    I have an IPEndPoint a and b, whose IPAddress and Port are exactly the same, but the == operator is on the IPEndPoint not returning true. To make things even stranger, I tried to circumvent the problem by simply comparing the IPAddress and Port individually and it is STILL not returning true. Has anyone encountered this before? If so, I am all ears to performant solutions. We have collections of as many as 10k IPEndPoints and are querying into them via LINQ (PLINQ pretty soon).

They replied saying that it is only possible with an SSH-tunnel. Is it possible to connect to a SQL Server database in Visual Studio using an SSH-tunnel? It is important for me to be able to access the database from my local machine (for debugging, generating LINQ classes, editing tables, etc). Or, how should I go about working with their database?

I am overwhelmed with the options: Linq-to-sql, ADO.NET. nHibernate, EntityFramework, plain old sql (I am used to this). Since I have only limited 'learning' hours available (about 2.5 hours per day), where should I invest my time? I don't want to learn something that will be obsolete next month or for which no one will hire me.
