  • Cannot Mount USB 3.0 Hard Disk ?!!

    Hi, I have a USB 3.0 external hard disk which I am unable to mount. The entry appears in the "lsusb" command, but I do not exactly understand how to mount it. This is the output for my lsusb command. "ASMedia Technology Inc." is the USB 3.0 device. I would appreciate some help in mounting and accessing the hard disk.   • PowerShell Script To Find Where SharePoint 2007 Features Are Activated

    Recently I posted a script to find where SharePoint 2010 Features Are Activated.  I built the original version to use SharePoint 2010 PowerShell commandlets as that saved me a number of steps for filtering and gathering features at each level.  If there was ever demand for a 2007 version I could modify the script to handle that by using the object model instead of commandlets.  Just the other week a fellow SharePoint PFE Jason Gallicchio had a customer asking about a version for SharePoint 2007.  With a little bit of work I was able to convert the script to work against SharePoint 2007.   Solution    Below is the converted script that works against a SharePoint 2007 farm.  Note: There appears to be a bug with the 2007 version that does not give accurate results against a SharePoint 2010 farm.  I ran the 2007 version against a 2010 farm and got fewer results than my 2010 version of the script.  Discussing with some fellow PFEs I think the discrepancy may be due to sandboxed features, a new concept in SharePoint 2010.  I have not had enough time to test or confirm.  For the time being only use the 2007 version script against SharePoint 2007 farms and the 2010 version against SharePoint 2010 farms.    Note: This script is not optimized for medium to large farms.  In my testing it took 1-3 minutes to recurse through my demo environment.  This script is provided as-is with no warranty.  Run this in a smaller dev / test environment first. 001 002 003 004 005 006 007 008 009 010 011 012 013 014 015 016 017 018 019 020 021 022 023 024 025 026 027 028 029 030 031 032 033 034 035 036 037 038 039 040 041 042 043 044 045 046 047 048 049 050 051 052 053 054 055 056 057 058 059 060 061 062 063 064 065 066 067 068 069 070 function Get-SPFeatureActivated { # see full script for help info, removed for formatting [CmdletBinding()] param(     [Parameter(position = 1, valueFromPipeline=$true)]     [string]     $Identity )#end param     Begin     {         # load SharePoint assembly to access object model         [void][System.Reflection.Assembly]::LoadWithPartialName("Microsoft.SharePoint")             # declare empty array to hold results.   • Character set issues with Oracle Gateways, SQL Server, and Application Express

    I am migrating data from a Oracle on VMS that accesses data on SQL Server using heterogeneous services (over ODBC) to Oracle on AIX accessing the SQL Server via Oracle Gateways (dg4msql). The Oracle VMS database used the WE8ISO8859P1 character set. The AIX database uses WE8MSWIN1252. The SQL Server database uses "Latin1-General, case-insensitive, accent-sensitive, kanatype-insensitive, width-insensitive for Unicode Data, SQL Server Sort Order 52 on Code Page 1252 for non-Unicode Data" according to sp_helpsort. The SQL Server databases uses nchar/nvarchar or all string columns. In Application Express, extra characters are appearing in some cases, for example 123 shows up as %001%002%003. In sqlplus, things look ok but if I use Oracle functions like initcap, I see what appear as spaces between each letter of a string when I query the sql server database (using a database link). This did not occur under the old configuration. I'm assuming the issue is that an nchar has extra bytes in it and the character set in Oracle can't convert it. It appears that the ODBC solution didn't support nchars so must have just cast them back to char and they showed up ok. I only need to view the sql server data so I'm open to any solution such as casting, but I haven't found anything that works. Any ideas on how to deal with this? Should I be using a different character set in Oracle and if so, does that apply to all schemas since I only care about one of them.

    I'm using Paypal's buy it now buttons along with an IPN handler written in PHP to send me an e-mail whenever a purchase is made. The e-mail is properly being sent and is passing much of the data, but it's not capturing the drop down list for selecting a clothing item's size.     I am making an URL shortener, and I am struggling with the optimal way of encoding a number (id) into a character string. I am using the characters 0-9,A-Z,a-z so it will basically be a base-62 encoding. That is pretty basic, but it doesn't make use of all possible codes. The codes that it would produce would be: 0, 1, ... y, z, 10, 11, ... zy, zz, 100, 101, ... Notice that the codes 00 to 0z is not used, the same for 000 to 0zz, and so on. I would like to use all the codes, like this: 0, 1, ... y, z, 00, 01, ... zy, zz, 000, 001, ... It would be some combination of base-62 and base-63, with different bases depending on the position... I have a problem with passing parameters to and show them in modal popup windows. I have "Create New User" button and "View" link on the page.   • Strange \n in base64 encoded string in Ruby

    The inbuilt Base64 library in Ruby is adding some '\n's. I'm unable to find out the reason. For this special example: irb(main):001:0> require 'rubygems' => true irb(main):002:0> require 'base64' => true irb(main):003:0> str = "1110--ad6ca0b06e1fbeb7e6518a0418a73a6e04a67054" => "1110--ad6ca0b06e1fbeb7e6518a0418a73a6e04a67054" irb(main):004:0> Base64.encode64(str) => "MTExMC0tYWQ2Y2EwYjA2ZTFmYmViN2U2NTE4YTA0MThhNzNhNmUwNGE2NzA1\nNA==\n" The \n's are at the last and 6th position from end. The decoder (Base64.decode64) returns back the old string perfectly. Strange thing is, these \n's don't add any value to the encoded string. When I remove the newlines from the output string, the decoder decodes it again perfectly. irb(main):005:0> Base64.decode64(Base64.encode64(str).gsub("\n", '')) == str => true More of this, I used an another JS library to produce the base64 encoded output of the same input string, the output comes without the \n's. Is this a bug or anything else? Has anybody faced this issue before? FYI, $ ruby -v ruby 1.8.7 (2008-08-11 patchlevel 72) [i486-linux]

    I am trying to write a script that I can run from a rule withing outlook. The goal of this script is to search the email body for a regex pattern, \d{8}-\d{3}\(E\d\) in this case. I want to take that pattern and see if a folder with the name of the match exists and if not create one. I am not super familiar with VBA as I write mostly in python. That is, how do I "reuse" the list of t values? How would you change the query to eliminate outliers (at an 85% confidence interval)? The following results (to calculate the start and end points of the line) appear incorrect. Why are the results off by ~10 degrees (e.g., outliers skewing the data)? (1900 * 0.0276653965651912) + (-57.2338357550468) = -4.66958228 (2009 * 0.0276653965651912) + (-57.2338357550468) = -1.65405406 I would have expected the 1900 result to be around 10 (not -4.67) and the 2009 result to be around 11.50 (not -1.65). This looks like the problem described here, but I thought I would get an expert opinion before filing a bug against the project.

    i want fsolve to calculate the output for different uc each time (increasing uc by 0.001 each time). each output from fsolve should be sent to a simulink model seperatly. so i set a loop to do so, but i believe that at the currenty constellation (if it will work)will just calculate 1000 different values? is there a way to send out the values seperately? if not, how can i create a parameter uc. that goes from 0 to say 1000? i tried uc=0:0.001:1000, but again, the demension doen't seem to fit. how do i create a function that takes the next element of a vector/matrix each time the function is called? uc=0; for i=0:1000 x0=[1,1,1]; y=x0(1); u=x0(2); yc=x0(3); options=optimset('Display','off'); x= fsolve(@myfun,x0,options,uc,d,spacing_amplitude,spacing_width); end best regards

  • Ideal directory structure for web application

    I'm about to create a user based website and will have to store photo, docs and other data for each user. If I take a silly number like 1 000 000 000 users, I believe than one folder with 1 000 000 000 won't be the fastest thing in the world! So I was thinking of creating something like 1st level : [a-z] 2nd level : [a-z] 3rd level : [a-z] Therefor bobby will be in /b/o/b/by But this also mean that it won't be spread equaly, because there will be very few user starting with a z and many more with a m,s,l ... so I was thinking of using a user id such as "000000000001", "000000000001" etc... 1st level : [000-999] 2nd level : [000-999] 3rd level : [000-999] therefore data of the user 000000000001 will be store in /data/000/000/000/001 then I will be sure to have a maximum of 1000 folder in each level. What do you guys think about it, what I should do or not do ? The server will be running Centos 5.4 with EXT3 on raid 1, if the I/O get's too bad i will probably go for a raid 10.
