  • How can I exclude words with apostrophes when reading into a table of strings?

    - by rearden
    ifstream fin; string temp; fin.open("engldict.txt"); if(fin.is_open()) { bool apos = false; while(!fin.eof()) { getline(fin, temp, '\n'); if(temp.length() > 2 && temp.length() < 7) { for(unsigned int i = 0; i < temp.length(); i++) { if(temp.c_str()[i] == '\'') apos = true; } if(!apos) dictionary.insert(temp); } } } This code gives me a runtime error: Unhandled exception at 0x00A50606 in Word Jumble.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000014. and throws me a break point at: size_type size() const _NOEXCEPT { // return length of sequence return (this->_Mysize); } within the xstring header. This exception is thrown no matter what character I use, so long as it is present within the words I am reading in. I am aware that it is probably a super simple fix, but I just really need another set of eyes to see it. Thanks in advance.

  • FileConnection Blackberry memory usage

    - by Dean
    Hello, I'm writing a blackberry application that reads ints and strings out of a database. This is my first time dealing with reading/writing on the blackberry, so forgive me if this is a dumb question. The database file I'm reading is only about 4kB I open the file with the following code fconn = (FileConnection) Connector.open("file_path_here", Connector.READ); if(fconn.exists()==false){fconn.close();return;} is = fconn.openDataInputStream(); while(!eof){ //etc... } is.close(); fconn.close(); The problem is, this code appears to be eating a LOT of memory. Using breakpoints and the "Memory Statistics" view, I determined the following: calling "Connector.open" creates 71 objects and changes "RAM Bytes in use" by 5376 calling "fconn.openDataInputStream();" increases RAM usage by a whopping 75920 Is this normal? Or am I doing something wrong? And how can I fix this? 75MB of RAM is a LOT of memory to waste on a handheld device, especially when the file I'm reading is only 4kB and I haven't even begun reading any data! How is this even possible?

  • Why can't I open a JBoss vfs:/ URL?

    - by skiphoppy
    We are upgrading our application from JBoss 4 to JBoss 6. A couple of pieces of our application get delivered to the client in an unusual way: jars are looked up inside of our application and sent to the client from a servlet, where the client extracts them in order to run certain support functions. In JBoss 4 we would look these jars up with the classloader and find a jar:// URL which would be used to read the jar and send its contents to the client. In JBoss 6 when we perform the lookup we get a vfs:/ URL. I understand that this is from the org.jboss.vfs package. Unfortunately when I call openStream() on this URL and read from the stream, I immediately get an EOF (read() returns -1). What gives? Why can't I read the resource this URL refers to? I've tried trying to access the underlying VFS packages to open the file through the JBoss VFS API, but most of the API appears to be private, and I couldn't find a routine to translate from a vfs:/ URL to a VFS VirtualFile object, so I couldn't get anywhere. I can try to find the file on disk within JBoss, but that approach sounds very failure prone on upgrade. Our old approach was to use Java Web Start to distribute the jars to the client and then look them up within Java Web Start's cache to extract them. But that broke on every minor upgrade of Java because the layout of the cache changed.

  • C++ File manipulation problem

    - by Carlucho
    I am trying to open a file which normally has content, for the purpose of testing i will like to initialize the program without the files being available/existing so then the program should create empty ones, but am having issues implementing it. This is my code originally void loadFiles() { fstream city; city.open("city.txt", ios::in); fstream latitude; latitude.open("lat.txt", ios::in); fstream longitude; longitude.open("lon.txt", ios::in); while(!city.eof()){ city >> cityName; latitude >> lat; longitude >> lon; t.add(cityName, lat, lon); } city.close(); latitude.close(); longitude.close(); } I have tried everything i can think of, ofstream, ifstream, adding ios::out all all its variations. Could anybody explain me what to do in order to fix the problem. Thanks!

  • What can cause a spontaneous EPIPE error without either end calling close() or crashing?

    - by Hongli
    I have an application that consists of two processes (let's call them A and B), connected to each other through Unix domain sockets. Most of the time it works fine, but some users report the following behavior: A sends a request to B. This works. A now starts reading the reply from B. B sends a reply to A. The corresponding write() call returns an EPIPE error, and as a result B close() the socket. However, A did not close() the socket, nor did it crash. A's read() call returns 0, indicating end-of-file. A thinks that B prematurely closed the connection. Users have also reported variations of this behavior, e.g.: A sends a request to B. This works partially, but before the entire request is sent A's write() call returns EPIPE, and as a result A close() the socket. However B did not close() the socket, nor did it crash. B reads a partial request and then suddenly gets an EOF. The problem is I cannot reproduce this behavior locally at all. I've tried OS X and Linux. The users are on a variety of systems, mostly OS X and Linux. Things that I've already tried and considered: Double close() bugs (close() is called twice on the same file descriptor): probably not as that would result in EBADF errors, but I haven't seen them. Increasing the maximum file descriptor limit. One user reported that this worked for him, the rest reported that it did not. What else can possibly cause behavior like this? I know for certain that neither A nor B close() the socket prematurely, and I know for certain that neither of them have crashed because both A and B were able to report the error. It is as if the kernel suddenly decided to pull the plug from the socket for some reason.

  • How to use linux csplit to chop up massive XML file?

    - by Fred
    Hi everyone, I have a gigantic (4GB) XML file that I am currently breaking into chunks with linux "split" function (every 25,000 lines - not by bytes). This usually works great (I end up with about 50 files), except some of the data descriptions have line breaks, and so frequently the chunk files do not have the proper closing tags - and my parser chokes halfway through processing. Example file: (note: normally each "listing" xml node is supposed to be on its own line) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <listings> <listing><date>2009-09-22</date><desc>This is a description WITHOUT line breaks and works fine with split</desc><more_tags>stuff</more_tags></listing> <listing><date>2009-09-22</date><desc>This is a really annoying description field WITH line breaks that screw the split function</desc><more_tags>stuff</more_tags></listing> </listings> Then sometimes my split ends up like <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <listings> <listing><date>2009-09-22</date><desc>This is a description WITHOUT line breaks and works fine with split</desc><more_tags>stuff</more_tags></listing> <listing><date>2009-09-22</date><desc>This is a really annoying description field WITH line breaks ... EOF So - I have been reading about "csplit" and it sounds like it might work to solve this issue. I cant seem to get the regular expression right... Basically I want the same output of ~50ish files Something like: *csplit -k myfile.xml '/</listing>/' 25000 {50} Any help would be great Thanks!

  • How do I see if an established socket is stuck on a server that's expecting input?

    - by Parker
    I have a script that scans ports for open proxy servers. Problem is if it encounters a login program (specifically telnet) then it hangs there forever since it doesn't know what to do and eventually the server closes the connection. The simple solution would be to create a bunch of cases. If telnet, do this. If SSH, do that. If something else, blah blah blah. I'd like an umbrella solution since the script is not a high priority for me. The script, as it is now, is available at http://parkrrr.net/socks/scan.phps On a small scale (the page maybe averages 15 hits/day) it's fine but on a larger scale I'd be worried about a lot of open zombie sockets. Swapping the !$strpos doesn't work since servers can return more information than what you requested (headers, ads, etc). Only accepting a fixed number of bytes (as opposed to appending until EOF, which it does now) from the $fgets also does not seem to work. I am sure this is where it gets stuck: while (!feof($fp)) { $data.=fgets($fp,512); } But what can I do? Any other suggestions/warnings would also be welcomed.

  • Read in double type from txt file - C++

    - by Greenhouse Gases
    Hi there I'm in the midst of a university project and have decided to implement a method that can accept information from a text file (in this instance called "locations.txt"). input from the text file will look like this: London 345 456 Madrid 234 345 Beinjing 345 456 Frankfurt 456 567 The function looks like this currently (and you will notice I am missing the While condition to finish adding input when reaches end of text in locations.txt, i tried using eof but this didnt work?!). Also get function expects a char and so cant accept input thats a double which is what the latitude and longitude are defined as... void populateList(){ ifstream inputFile; inputFile.open ("locations.txt"); temp = new locationNode; // declare the space for a pointer item and assign a temporary pointer to it while(HASNT REACHED END OF TEXT FILE!!) { inputFile.getline(temp-nodeCityName, MAX_LENGTH); // inputFile.get(temp-nodeLati, MAX_LENGTH); // inputFile.get(temp-nodeLongi, MAX_LENGTH); temp-Next = NULL; //set to NULL as when one is added it is currently the last in the list and so can not point to the next if(start_ptr == NULL){ // if list is currently empty, start_ptr will point to this node start_ptr = temp; } else { temp2 = start_ptr; // We know this is not NULL - list not empty! while (temp2-Next != NULL) { temp2 = temp2-Next; // Move to next link in chain until reach end of list } temp2->Next = temp; } } inputFile.close(); } Any help you can provide would be most useful. If I need to provide anymore detail I will do, I'm in a bustling canteen atm and concentrating is hard!!

  • Strange compiler complaint when using similar code

    - by Jason
    For a project, I have to ask the user for a file name, and I'm reading it in character by character using getchar. From the main, I call the function char *coursename= introPrint(); //start off to print the usage directions and get the first bit of input. That function is defined as char *introPrint(){ int size= 20; int c; int length=0; char buffer[size]; //instructions printout, cut for brevity //get coursename from user and return it while ( (c=getchar()) != EOF && (c != '\n') ){ buffer[length++]= c; if (length==size-1) break; } buffer[length]=0; return buffer; } This is basically identical code I wrote to ask the user for input, replace the character echo with asterisks, then print out the results. Here, though, I'm getting a function returns address of local variable warning for the return statement. So why am I getting no warnings from the other program, but trigger one for this code?

  • Optimize SQL connection?

    - by user1484035
    I am building a multi-page web project in HTML and Javascript that is constantly reading from AND writing to an SQL database. I can connect to the database and successfully run my project with this type of connection. var connection = new ActiveXObject("ADODB.Connection") ; var connectionstring="Data Source=<server>;Initial Catalog=<catalog>;User ID=<user>; Password=<password>;Provider=SQLOLEDB"; connection.Open(connectionstring); var rs = new ActiveXObject("ADODB.Recordset"); rs.Open("SELECT * FROM table", connection); rs.MoveFirst while(!rs.eof) { document.write(rs.fields(1)); rs.movenext; } rs.close; connection.close; Works great and runs fine. BUT, the first 5 lines (from var connection = to var rs =) causes the whole browser to freeze for a few seconds while it establishes the connection. I need to speed that up since I am constantly connecting to the database throughout my project. Is there a more effective way of connecting to a SQL database? or is my computer just bad and this should run faster?

  • How to send XML data through socket InputStream

    - by THeK3nger
    Hi, I'm trying to write a client-server application in Java with an XML-based protocol. But I have a great problem! See this part of client code: InputStream incoming = skt.getInputStream(); //I get Stream from Socket. OutputStream out = skt.getOutputStream(); [...] XMLSerializer serializer = new XMLSerializer(); //This create an XML document. tosend = WUTPClientWriter.createMessage100(projectid, cpuclock, cpunumber); serializer.setOutputByteStream(out); serializer.serialize(tosend); At this point server fall in deadlock. It wait for EOF but I can't send it because if I use out.close(); or skt.shutdownOutput(); I close Socket and I must keep alive this connection. I can't send '\0' becouse I get Parse Error in the server. How can I do? Can I "close" output stream without close socket? RESOLVED I've created new class XMLStreamOutput and XMLStreamInput with advanced Stream gesture.

  • How do I read hex numbers into an unsigned int in C [Solved]

    - by sil3nt
    I'm wanting to read hex numbers from a text file into an unsigned integer so that I can execute Machine instructions. It's just a simulation type thing that looks inside the text file and according to the values and its corresponding instruction outputs the new values in the registers. For example, the instructions would be: 1RXY - Save register R with value in memory address XY 2RXY - Save register R with value XY BRXY - Jump to register R if xy is this and that etc.. ARXY - AND register R with value at memory address XY The text file contains something like this each in a new line. (in hexidecimal) 120F B007 290B My problem is copying each individual instruction into an unsigned integer...how do I do this? #include <stdio.h> int main(){ FILE *f; unsigned int num[80]; f=fopen("values.txt","r"); if (f==NULL){ printf("file doesnt exist?!"); } int i=0; while (fscanf(f,"%x",num[i]) != EOF){ fscanf(f,"%x",num[i]); i++; } fclose(f); printf("%x",num[0]); }

  • need help with C++ using maps to keep track of words in a INPUT file

    - by eNetik
    Let say i have a text file with today is today but tomorrow is today tomorrow then using maps how can i keep track of the words that are repeated? and on which line it repeats? so far i have each string in the file read in as a temp and it is stored in the following way: map<string,int> storage; int count = 1 // for the first line of the file if(infile.is_open()){ while( !infile.eof() ){ getline(in, line); istringstream my_string(line); while(my_string.good()){ string temp; my_string >> temp; storage[temp] = count } count++;// so that every string read in the next line will be recorded as that line. } } map<string,int>::iterator m; for(int m = storage.begin(); m!= storage.end(); m++){ out<<m->first<<": "<<"line "<<m->second<<endl; } right now the output is just but: line 1 is: line 2 today: line 2 tomorrow: line 2 But instead.. it should print out(no repeating strings): today : line 1 occurred 2 times, line 2 occurred 1 time. is: line 1 occurred 1 time, line 2 occurred 1 time. but: line 1 occurred 1 time. tomorrow: line 2 occurred 2 times. Note: the order of the string does not matter. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have searched around but none of the answers posted seem to work for my situation. • Cannot locate record in delphi ADO query

    - by Danatela
    I can't locate any record in TADOQuery using PK. First, I was trying to use standard Locate method: PPUQuery.Locate('ID', SpPlansQuery['PPONREC'], []); It always returns False, but manual search (passing the whole query matching ID with given PPONREC which is really slow) finds the desired row. I tried using loPartialKey and switched CursorLocation of query to clUseServer, but it didn't help. Next, I tried to filter my PPUQuery: PPUQuery.Filter := 'ID = ' + VarToStr(SpPlansQuery['PPONREC']); PPUQuery.Filtered := True; PPUQuery.First; But after that the PPUQuery.Eof is True and PPUQuery.RecordCount equals 0. Underlying database is Oracle 9 and the ID is of type INTEGER and is PK of table TPORDER_CMK. PPUQuery.SQL is: SELECT tp.*, la.*, lm.*, ld.*, ld1.*, to_cmk.* FROM ppu_plan.tporder_cmk tp JOIN PPU_PLAN.LARTICLES la ON TP.ARTICLE = LA.ID JOIN PPU_PLAN.LMATERIAL lm ON TP.MATERIAL = lm.id JOIN PPU_PLAN.LCADEP ld ON TP.CADEP = LD.ID JOIN PPU_PLAN.LCADEP ld1 ON TP.PRODUCER = LD1.ID JOIN PPU_PLAN.TORDER_CMK to_cmk ON TP.order_id=TO_cmk.ID WHERE TP.PLAN_ID = :pplan_id What should I try next and how to solve this problem?

  • Stream buffering issue

    - by Kolyunya
    The mod_rewrite documentation states that it is a strict requirement to disable in(out)put buffering in a rewrite program. Keeping that in mind I've written a simple program (I do know that it lacks the EOF check but this is not an issue and it saves one condition check per loop): #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> int main ( void ) { setvbuf(stdin,NULL,_IOLBF,4200); setvbuf(stdout,NULL,_IOLBF,4200); int character; while ( 42 ) { character = getchar(); if ( character == '-' ) { character = '_'; } putchar(character); } return 42 - 42; } After making some measurements I was shocked - it was over 9,000 times slower than the demo Perl script provided by the documentation: #!/usr/bin/perl $| = 1; # Turn off I/O buffering while (<STDIN>) { s/-/_/g; # Replace dashes with underscores print $_; } Now I have two related questions: Question 1. I believe that the streams may be line buffered since Apache sends a new line after each path. Am I correct? Switching my program to setvbuf(stdin,NULL,_IOLBF,4200); setvbuf(stdout,NULL,_IOLBF,4200); makes it twice as fast as Perl one. This should not hit Apache's performance, should it? Question 2. How can one write a program in C which will use unbuffered streams (like Perl one) and will perform as fast as Perl one?

  • getline with ints C++

    I have a file 0 3 2 1 2 3 4 5 6 6 8 1 Where the first number for each line is the row, the second number is the column, and the third number is the data contained in that row, column. This will be a given [8][8] array so I have already initialized everything to 0, but how can I store each of these data values? For example, I want [0][3] =2 and [1][2] = 3. I would like to keep track of the line on which I found that row, col, and data value. So, how can I correctly insert these values into my 2-D array? int rowcol[8][8]; for (int i=0; i < 9; i++) for (int j=0; j < 9; j++) { rowcol[i][j] =0; } ifstream myfile; int nums; myfile.open(text.c_str()); while (!myfile.eof()) { myfile >> nums; numbers.push_back(nums); } for (int i=0; i < numbers.size(); i++) { //Not sure what the best approach here would be and I'm not even sure if I should have done a vector... }

    The RSSBus Salesforce Excel Add-In makes it easy to retrieve and update data from Salesforce from within Microsoft Excel. In addition to the built-in wizards that make data manipulation possible without code, the full functionality of the RSSBus Excel Add-Ins is available programmatically with Excel Macros (VBA) and Excel Functions. This article shows how to write an Excel macro that can be used to perform bulk inserts into Salesforce. Although this article uses the Salesforce Excel Add-In as an example, the same process can be applied to any of the Excel Add-Ins available on our website. Step 1: Download and install the RSSBus Excel Add-In available on our website. Step 2: Open Excel and create place holder cells for the connection details that are needed from the macro. In this article, a spreadsheet will be created for batch inserts, and these cells will store the connection details, and will be used to report the job Id, the batch Id, and the batch status. Step 3: Switch to the Developer tab in Excel. Add a new button on the spreadsheet, and create a new macro associated with it. This macro will contain the code needed to insert a batch of rows into Salesforce. Step 4: Add a reference to the Excel Add-In by selecting Tools --> References --> RSSBus Excel Add-In. The macro functions of the Excel Add-In will be available once the reference has been added. The following code shows how to call a Stored Procedure. In this example, a job is created to insert Leads by calling the CreateJob stored procedure. CreateJob returns a jobId that can be used to upload a large number of Leads in one transaction. Note the use of cells B1, B2, B3, and B4 that were created in Step 2 to read the connection settings from the Excel SpreadSheet and to write out the status of the procedure. methodName = "CreateJob" module.SetProviderName ("Salesforce") nameArray = Array("ObjectName", "Action", "ConcurrencyMode") valueArray = Array("Lead", "insert", "Serial") user = Range("B1").value pass = Range("B2").value atoken = Range("B3").value If (Not user = "" And Not pass = "" And Not atoken = "") Then module.SetConnectionString ("User=" + user + ";Password=" + pass + ";Access Token=" + atoken + ";") If module.CallSP(methodName, nameArray, valueArray) Then Dim ColumnCount As Integer ColumnCount = module.GetColumnCount Dim idIndex As Integer For Count = 0 To ColumnCount - 1 Dim colName As String colName = module.GetColumnName(Count) If module.GetColumnName(Count) = "id" Then idIndex = Count End If Next While (Not module.EOF) Range("B4").value = module.GetValue(idIndex) module.MoveNext Wend Else MsgBox "The CreateJob query failed." End If Exit Sub Else MsgBox "Please specify the connection details." Exit Sub End If Error: MsgBox "ERROR: " & Err.Description Step 5: Add the code to your macro. If you use the code above, you can check the results at Salesforce.com. They can be seen at Administration Setup -> Monitoring -> Bulk Data Load Jobs. Download the attached sample file for a more complete demo. Distributing an Excel File With Macros An Excel file with macros is saved using the .xlms extension. The code for the macro remains in the Excel file, and you can distribute your Excel file to any machine where the RSSBus Salesforce Excel Add-In is already installed. Macro Sample File Please download the fully functional sample excel file that includes the code referenced here. You will also need the RSSBus Excel Add-In to make the connection. You can download a free trial here. Note: You may get an error message stating: "Can't find project or library." in Excel 2007, since this example is made using Excel 2010.
