    I found it sometime ago and now I can't. I want to find something like the shopping cart at the apple store, it's a div thats not positioned absolute nor fixed, for instance, let's say it's at the center of the screen, and only when you scroll down it follows the scroll only to not disappear, when it reaches the border of the browser header... I'm not sure If i'm being clear. I've searched but all I found is the css position fixed stuff. Can you help me with a link or something? Best Regards

    Does the .NET String.Format method allow placement of a string at a fixed position within a fixed length string. " String Goes Here" " String Goes Here " "String Goes Here " How is this done using .NET? Edit - I have tried Format/PadLeft/PadRight to death. They do not work. I don't know why. I ended up writing my own function to do this. Edit - I made a mistake and used a colon instead of a comma in the format specifier. Should be "{0,20}".   • WPF - collapsing grid cells

    Hi, I'm having some problems with the layout of buttons on a screen. There are a number of buttons with the visibility set to collapsed depending on certain criteria. Anyway, with the buttons sitting in a stackpanel, the contents determine the width of the buttons. Because these should share the same size, I put them in a grid where the columns are using the SharedSizeGroup. Having done this, buttons now all share the same width, the smallest width needed to display the button with the largest content. What it does mean though is that buttons don't display at the required position. That is - assume five buttons in columns 0-4 where the first button is collapsed, buttons should ideally all shift to the left so that they always occupy space left to right. Is there any way I can accomplish this or, if not, how can I get buttons in a stackpanel to share the same width? Any help is much appreciated.

  • 100% height with fixed footer and embedded Google Map

    I have a problem with a layout - it's not online anywhere, just local, but if you copy and paste the code below into an html page and run it locally you will see the same page I do. It's very nearly there. What I'm trying to achieve is a page with no scrollbars using up all available vertical space. Yes, I can set "overflow:hidden" on the container declaration and that helps, but it's not quite right. I want to actually have the google map surrounded with a 1em border. I have this on 3 sides but the 100% height declaration on the content div crashes the bottom border. If you don't realise the implications of a percentage-sized google map div, then the parent HAS to have a height declared for it to work. As the footer is absolute and outside of the flow, there is no "bottom" border to work to and the layout just doesn't work. The content div 100% height basically seems to take its size from the viewport and not the containing div. It's driving me mad... just can't seem to work out how to do this and I'd really appreciate some input.   • Why isn't our c# graphics code working any more?

    Here's the situation: We have some generic graphics code that we use for one of our projects. After doing some clean-up of the code, it seems like something isn't working anymore (The graphics output looks completely wrong).     Is there a way to change the stride and stripe-width options on an ext3 file system under CentOS/RHEL 5.3? There's no way to specify it via anaconda during installation that I saw, and while I see the -E option to tune2fs available under Ubuntu, I don't see it in the manpage on CentOS. I did try to use the -E flag on CentOS and it rejects the flag as unknown if I try to use it. Anyone have any way to do this short of reinstallation?

  • Fixed expired accounts in Oracle 11g

    I have an Oracle 11g server that's used for PHP development. Recently, I had a problem logging into the Enterprise Manager due to expired passwords. I've already changed settings so passwords no longer expire and I've unlocked all users. However, the user manager shows most built-in users as expired. How can I fix that? (If I just set a password for each expired account I guess that whatever services are using it will no longer be able to log in.)

  • My computer keeps crashing and I just want it FIXED

    So long story short, I had my brother build me a computer for my birthday last year. I saw how good his was (also built by him) so I decided I would have him build me one. About a month after this was all finished, my computer started crashing when I when run over 3 programs. For example, an online game, a music player (spotify), skype, and a browser with a few tabs open. The way it would crash is the screen will freeze and a buzzing noise will come from whatever audio device I am using (headset, speakers) I took it to a computer tech guy and he told me my cooling system was inadequate. SOOO he led me to buy a CORSAIR H75 Liquid cooling system. Everything was good for about a week, and now it just did the same thing again. I am so freaking over this guys and I really need some help figuring out what the heck is wrong, I dont care how long it takes, just please help me.

    As an avid user of todo apps (currently Asana) is very much miss a way to easily forward an email from Postbox to my GTD app. Currently the workflow is: Click cmd/L to open the forward email window Type [email protected] in the To: address field Click the send button in the forward email window What I would like to have is an automator or applescript that does that for me. Ex: Highligh/select the mail I wish to convert to a task in Asana and the type a shortcut like ctrl/cmd/L to forward the mail to Asana. As most todo apps have custom email addresses you can use to convert an email into a task, the only thing that needs to be changed is the email address in the script. For Asana this would not be necessary because the email address for converting an email into a taks is the same for all Asana users.

    Using the Windows hosts file, one can redirect traffic for a domain to a specific IP address, e.g. domainA.com -- 127.0.0.1 I am looking for a SIMPLE way to do the same, but for a target domain name not for a target IP address (as this is dynamic), I.e. domainA.com -- domainB.com Addition: After the getting some initial answers I think I need to concretise my question. Situation: I have an application which looks up the IP of the target domain via DNS and then connects via HTTP to the IP address. I do not have control over any proxy settings. Option 1 Basically I am looking for a way to: intercept DNS requests for a domainA.com launch a DNS request for a domainB.com serve the IP of domainB.com in response to the request for domainA.com Without running an entire DNS server. Option 2 If a DNS server is the only way, in the alternative I would also be happy with an solution to how to define a non-standard DNS-server for a single application. Any ideas for wrapper applications, etc?

  • Fixed Resource Monitor Graph Scale in Windows Server 2008 R2

    In Windows Server 2008 R2's Resource Monitor, is there a way to set the scale of the various graphs to be constant values instead of variable based on data? It seems to me that the utility of a graph is to get a quick overview glance at the values those graphs are showing. So if I look at the CPU graph and the line is up near the top, I can know immediately that something is using all my CPU and go investigate what. I don't really care if the CPU is jumping between .01% and 2%. Or if the network usage monitor is up near the top, I will know that all my bandwidth is being used up, and go figure out what. But the way things are now, the graphs are meaningless because the scales constantly shift. If you look at the network usage graph in one second it might have a scale out of 100kbps, and the next second have a scale based on 1mbps! So... is there a registry key or something that will peg the scale of these graphs to logical maximums?

  • How do I keep gnome-terminal width from changing when I use "reset"

    When I use reset in gnome-terminal (bash, Ubuntu 9.04), the window width resets, though the height does not. On my personal computer, this does not happen in xterm or konsole. On my work computer (RHEL 5 or maybe 4), this does not happen in any terminals, including gnome-terminal. I assume there is some environment variable that controls this, but my .bashrc at work is hundreds of lines long, so I'm not sure where to look in there.

  • Fixed ruby/mysql connection with new libmysql.dll, and broke Apache in the process

    Ok so bit of background - all my development has been on a local Windows 7 machine. I had Apache with PHP/MySQL running with no issues. Been using ruby (1.9.3 and latest rails release 3.2.9) with built in webrick server, but had a devil of a time connecting to mysql. Did some research, updated my libmysql.dll file in c:/ruby/bin and it worked! Very happy... except now Apache stopped working. In my attempt to resolve the issue I found an older copy of libmysql.dll, renamed the new file, copied the old file back to c:ruby/bin and apache works, ruby does not. So I can take this ass backwards approach but obviously this seems pretty stupid. I was surprised that Apache was using the dll file in ruby/bin folder. I presume this is related to path variables perhaps? I guess I was hoping someone could direct me as to how I can use one dll file for apache and another for ruby. Or if you have some other smarter approach - I've smart enough to follow directions to install apache from scratch and enable php on windows as well as ubuntu, but I'm not much of a sys admin, just a semi competent web developer.

  • Setup shared internet connection on virtualbox with fixed IP

    I am a web developer and until recently I have been using ubuntu as my OS. For many reasons, I have switched back to windows. I still want to keep my server on linux platform, so I setup my local server as a virtual machine. Everything works great, but i have a little struggle with the networking. Since I am working in different places and going around clients, I connect to all sorts of network with different settings. That means the possible IP range is very dynamic which causes issues when I work on my local server. At the moment I have a dynamic IP on my host and static IP on my guest. That way I can access the server from my host (by adding record to hosts file). I also have internet connection on the guest. But once i change networks, it does not work (assuming the network has different configuration). My question is, how to setup host-guest networking, so no matter what network I connect to, I can keep my static IP on guest, which is registered in hosts file on my host so I can access the webserver and also I will have internet connection on the guest?     I store my music on an external hard drive, and play them with foobar2k. However, the drive letter changes, which usually means I need to rebuild a fairly large playlist every so often. I'm wondering if there's a way to reserve a drive letter for a specific external device (or type of device) by device ID or volume name, or if I'm better off using a NTFS mount point, and re-mounting the drive to a folder each time. I'm using either a Windows XP or 7 system, and the external drive is NTFS.

  • Make taskbar buttons fixed on Windows 7

    Sometimes the application buttons on the Windows 7 taskbar change position by themselves. For example, if I have two windows of the same application opened, the first opened window should be the first button on the taskbar (to the left of the other) and the second opened window should be the second button on the taskbar (to the right of the other), but they switch places sometimes. I don't like this. How can I fix / configure this not to get rearranged? I am not using Aero, and the buttons of the same application are not grouped under a single button. !

  • Stretching width correctly to 100% of an inline-block element in IE6 and IE7

    I have the following markup, where I am attempting to get the right hand side of the second table to align with the right hand side of the heading above it. This works in IE8, Firefox and Chrome, but in IE6/7 the table is incorrectly stretched to fill the width of the page. I'm using the Trip Switch hasLayout trigger to apply inline-block in IE6/7. Does anyone know how (or even if) I can get the table only to fill the natural width of the wrapper element displayed with inline-block in IE6/7?   • CSS: Chrome and Safari seem to 'add' border to width, while IE, Firefox & Opera don't

    Hey guys, I'm trying to achieve cross-browser consistency for my website, but I have been trying all day now and its driving me nuts (0.38 am here in Europe now..). It's about this page: http://www[insert-dot-here]geld[insert-dash-here]surfen[insert-dot-here]nl/uitbetalingen.html (please note that I prefer this URL not to be made crawlable for seo-bots) If you view this page in IE, Firefox or Opera, everything is fine, but in Chrome and Safari the tables are a little out of line (as you'll probably clearly notice). What seems to be the problem?; it appears to me that in Chrome and Safari the left and right border (2px) in total are added to the set table width, while in the other browsers the border is considered part of the width. Because the right-side border can't 'fit' in anymore. 'img' and 'td' must be at least 2px more narrow than 'table.uitbetaling' for the right-border be visible in Firefox.   • extremely small gap between two divs that are width 100%

    hi I have two container divs one of them has a div with an image background and i think this is the div that is causing problem. I tried removing both container divs and the gap was still here. there are no margins no paddings, and i know it is not the image that has this line its not there when i open it in photoshop.   • jCarousel, IE6 and Fixed Width

    We are using jCarousel on our websites to display images. Simple enough. We have fairly flexible layouts so the carousels are not always the same width. FF, IE7+, Chrome, Safari etc work perfectly well taking up the space available. However IE6 ends up sending the jCarousel script into a loop and warns that a script is stopping the page from loading correctly. To stop IE6 from failing we are having to specify a fixed width in CSS for the carousel container. Is this a problem that others have had with IE6 and jCarousel?
