  Hi, I know it's possible to have multiple languages in a single application through the res/string and depending on Locale. Here is a case http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2078289/android-controling-the-user-language Now how can I change the language in the phone ? Like I'd do by Menu Settings Language & Keyboard Select locale languages Is there some real code to access to these settings ? Or should I create intent for a shortcut to the language settings. • SSRS Export to Excel not working through VPN (Juniper SA4000)

  We have a SharePoint (MOSS 2007 on Win2003 R2) with SSRS reports (from SQL 2005) embedded in it. When we connect to the SharePoint portal through our VPN (firewall is Juniper SA4000) and using Internet Explorer (6, 7, and 8) and try to export any SSRS report under Excel, we get an error message: Internet Explorer cannot download . Internet Explorer was not able to open the internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later. When not using the VPN (LAN from the office), everything (exporting under Excel) works fine. When using Firefox through the VPN, it works fine. When exporting to any other format (pdf or text or whatever), everything is fine under both IE and FF. Our firewall people suspect something in SSRS/MOSS/Office. Our MOSS consultants suspect something in the firewall Juniper SA4000. The situation is: I have a ROR project with a table in the db called "categories", and the category names are in english, category has many "question" entries. In localization file config/locals/fr.yml, these categories were translated to french. Consider about expandability, we can't change the category names in the db to french. User can search by type part of the key word. Here is a example: Category Name: Health and Medical In french: Santé et médecine so how can I do this: type "Santé médecine abc" in the search field and sphinx will return the "questions" under "Health and Medical" category and have keyword "abc"?

It has default culture English(XX) To test locally currently I am programmatically changing UICulture i.e. Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture = new CultureInfo("fr-BE"); And it works fine. Problem: How can I test without forcing the UI Culture programatically? I have tried changing Control Panel Regional Options Standard and Formats to French(Belgium). That made changes to DatePickerControl and now it display the dates French. However I can still see the Button text in English, where as if I test by injecting CultureInfo programmatically it changes to french. If I am able to change the standard and formats to French do I still need to Install Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI)?

  In my web application VS 2008 solution, I have the AjaxControlToolkit.dll in my bin directory and a whole set of language directories for it (ar, cs, de,es, fr, he, etc...) I don't remember how the language directories got in there. If I am using other languages via the ACT, do I need these directories? If not, then I don't? When I do a rebuild solution, the dll (AjaxControlToolkit.resources.dll) in these directories disappear. If I need them, what do I need to do to keep them from being deleted during a rebuild?

  I think my question is pretty stupid, but here it goes: I am using Aquamacs, and I want to install the WhizzyTeX mode. The website for WhizzyTeX says that "it is designed for Unix platforms". I read that Mac OS X is unix certified, but does that mean I can install WhizzyTeX on my mac? If yes, can I install and use it with Aquamacs or do I have to use the Emacs running from the terminal? PS: I don't know whether this question should be posted here or on SuperUser, but as Emacs users seem to hang out here more often, this is the place I chose. • Qt not displaying PNG images on Linux

  Hi, I have a software written using Qt which is meant to work on both Windows and Linux. I use PNG images as icons for my QActions, embedded in a resource. I have the following tree directory: / resources/ icons.qrc image.png Here is the content of icons.qrc: <RCC> <qresource prefix="/resources" lang="fr"> <file alias="image.png">image.png</file> </qresource> </RCC> I declare my QIcon like that: QIcon(":/resources/image.png") Under Windows, it works well but on Linux (I only tried on Ubuntu 10.4 so far), the images aren't displayed. Is there anything special I have to do for this to work ? Is this a configuration problem ? Thank you.

• Wmode transparent and symbols issue with foreign keyboard

  Hello, I have the known issue with wmode transparent and input textfield in my page. I know that the question is often asked but I have a special situation with that case. I need to embed my swf with wmode=transparent but in my swf I have an input textfield and the bug with "@" or "." symbols exists. I have a french keyboard and I decided to overcome this problem with a string replacement with the FirefoxWmodeFix class from Manmaru (see the link below). http://www.manmaru.fr/mlab/?p=95 It works for my keyboard but I need that "trick" with EN/DE/IT keyboard. Could anyone help me with the right combination of keys on different keyboard and different OS system to display "@" and "." symbols. I don't have any foreign Windows system to get the key code for each combination. Or if anyone has another solution, I will be pleased to hear that one. Thanks in advance for any help.

• Choosing routing.yml based on user culture?

  In my Symfony application I would like to choose the routing.yml based on the current user's culture; 'en' => routing.en.yml 'no' => routing.no.yml and so forth. Any suggestion to how this can be done? Edit: I am not trying to do i18n this way - I use Symfony's built-in methods for that. I simply want "static" urls to reflect the user's language: /en/projects/internal/project-name /no/prosjekter/interne/prosjektnavn /fr/baguette/champs-elysee/foux-de-fafa Where "projects" is a module, the category "internal" and "project-name" are stored in the database.

• Getting a NullPointerException at seemingly random intervals, not sure why

  I'm running an example from a Kinect library for Processing (http://www.shiffman.net/2010/11/14/kinect-and-processing/) and sometimes get a NullPointerException pointing to this line: int rawDepth = depth[offset]; The depth array is created in this line: int[] depth = kinect.getRawDepth(); I'm not exactly sure what a NullPointerException is, and much googling hasn't really helped. It seems odd to me that the code compiles 70% of the time and returns the error unpredictably. Could the hardware itself be affecting it? • Translate a webpage in PHP

  I'm looking to translate a webpage in PHP 5 so I can save the translation and make it easily accessible via mydomain.com/lang/fr/category/article.html rather than users having to go through google translate. I've found various easy ways to translate text via CURL, however what i'd really like to be able to do is translate an entire webpage but obviously ignore the tags. The problem is that Google Translate messes up all the HTML tags, class names etc Does anyone know of a php class that can translate an entire webpage whilst ignoring the tags? I'm guessing it may be possible via advanced regular expressions or something like that, but i'm not sure. I can't just curl Google's response as i'll have all the extra JS that they put in. Any ideas?

• Translating external api results in Drupal

  We're building a multi-language Drupal stack and one of the concerns we have is that our payment processor is going to have to send back some information to us. We've been able to narrow this down so that the strings they're sending back look like <country code>-<number of months> so we can easily translate that into any number of languages, except English. t('FR-12') is all well and good if we want to translate that into a french description, but because there's not an English language a similar string like t('EN-12') is not translatable. Similarly for the generic string: #API_Connection_Error This sort of generic string approach seemed really compelling to me at first but it seems to not work in Drupal. Do you have any suggestions about how to translate generic strings like this into both English and other languages? Thank you, I've been looking through Google all morning.

• Rails override validator message

  Hi, I have a site thats served in 2 flavours, English and French. Here's some code app/views/user/register.html.erb ----------------- <% form_for .....> <%= f.text_field :first_name %> <% end %> app/models/user.rb ------------------ class User < ActiveRecord::Base validates_presence_of :first_name end Now to display the error message in case if the site is being served in the French version, I have app/config/locales/fr.yml ------------------------- activerecord: errors: messages: empty: "ne peut pas être vide" So if someone does not fill in a first name, the validator takes the name of the field and appends the custom message for empty clause giving "First name ne peut pas être vide" which is incorrect, coz 'First name' in French is 'Prénom', hence it should be "Prénom ne peut pas être vide" Please can someone suggest a way of achieving the desired result.

• Storing i18n data in a database using XML

  Hello, I may have to store some i18n-ed data in my database using XML if I don't fight back. That's not my choice, but it's in the specifications I have to follow. We would have, by example, something like following in a 'Country' column: <lang='fr'>Etats-Unis</lang> <lang='en'>United States</lang> This would apply to many columns in the database. I don't think it's a good idea at all. I tend to think that a cell in a database should represent a single piece of data (better for look-up), and that the database should have two dimensions maximum and not 3 or more (one request more would be required per dimension / a dimension here would be equal to the number of XML attributes). My idea was to have a separate table for all the translations, with columns such as : ID / Language / Translation. However, I should admit that I'm really not sure what is the best way to store data in various languages in a DB... Thanks for your advices :)
