• Grails 1.2.x scripts not working

• JUnit Rule TemporaryFolder

  I'm creating a TemporaryFolder using the @Rule annotation in JUnit 4.7. I've tried to create a new folder that is a child of the temp folder using tempFolder.newFolder("someFolder") in the @Before (setup) method of my test. It seems as though the temporary folder gets initialized after the setup method runs, meaning I can't use the temporary folder in the setup method. Is this correct (and predictable) behavior? thanks, Jeff

• Giving event control back to xaml/callee to access check/uncheck

  Hi All, I've scoured the Internet but my search-foo must not work if it's out there cause I just can't find the proper search terms to get me the answer I am looking for. So I turn to the experts here as a last resort to point me in the right direction. What I'm trying to do is create a composite control of a text box and a list box but I want to allow the control consumer to decide what to do when say the checkbox is checked/unchecked and I just can't figure it out... Maybe i'm going about it all wrong. What I've done thus far is to: create a custom control that extends ListBox expose a custom DP named "Text" (for the Text box but it's not the important part) craft the generic.xaml so that the list items have a default ItemTemplate/DataTemplate inside the DataTemplate I'm trying to set the "Checked" or "Unchecked" events expose 'wrapper' events as DPs in the custom control that would get 'set' via the template when instatiated As soon as I try something like the following (inside generic.xaml): <DataTemplate> <...> <CheckBox Checked="{TemplateBinding MyCheckedDP}"/> <...> </DataTemplate> I get runtime exceptions, the designer - vs2010 - pukes out a LONG list of errors that are all very similar and nothing I do can make it work. I went so far as to try using the VisualTreeHelper but no magic combination I could find would work nor would it allow me to traverse the tree because when the OnApplyTemplate method fires the listbox items don't exist yet and aren't in the tree. So hopefully this all makes sense but if not please let me know and I'll edit the post for clarifications. Thanks to all for any pointers or thoughts... • tabexpansion doesn't fall through if overridden

  The tabexpansion function only works partially when I override it like so: function tabexpansion { param($line, $lastWord) if ($line -eq "hey ") { "you", "Joe" } } The custom completions work as expected, but now I only get the default autocomplete behavior for cmdlet names, not parameters. So New-TAB works fine, but New-Alias -TAB doesn't. How do I get the regular completions too after overriding tabexpansion?

• JWPlayer plays videos at 3x speed on the first run, then works fine in subsequent runs on the same p

  Go here: http://nano.materials.drexel.edu/research/videolibrary For some bizarre reason, the videos will play at 3x speed on the first run through, but then will play at normal speed each subsequent play. This doesn't happen all the time, and it's not always the same video(s) that do it. I'm utterly baffled. I've reconverted the videos from m4p to flv (using BitComet's converter) several times, double checking the settings each time through with no change to the behavior. Anyone have a clue what's going on?

• NHibernate - does it work well with database-level cascading deletions on foreign key constraints

  Dose nHibernate play well with database level cascading deletions? What I mean is that if I have a constraint set at the RDBMS level to cascade delete all orphans, will nHibernate invoke any custom delete logic at the application level if I were to delete an entity though nHibernate? Or should I remove the cascading deletions from the RDBMS level and just use the cascading delete feature of nHibernate itself by defining that behavior though its configuration? Thanks

I found various views for textual comparison within Eclipse, but I could not find an easy way to show the structural differences between two arbitrary trees. Any thoughts?

• Bug in XCode debugger?

  I am working on an iPhone app which is using an external library for which I have the source. During debugging some of the objects are listed as 0x0 in the debugger but the app runs fine. Also, some of the objects addresses point to the wrong thing. These symbols are in the external library. The addresses are fine if I am tracing through a file actually in the external library. Does anyone have suggestions how to stop this behavior?

  The default behavior of a UITabBarController is to pop the contained UINavigationController to the root view controller when a particular tab is tapped a second time. I have a particular use case where I'm wanting this to not work automatically, and I'm having a hard time figuring out how to prevent this. Has anyone run into this, and if so, what did you do? Do I need to subclass UINavigationController and override popToRootViewController or is there a simpler way?

My problem is that the file is starting to be heavy and I would like to increase the compression level, since compression time is not an issue. I could not find in the rubyzip documentation a way to specify the compression level for the created ZIP file. Anyone know how to change this setting?

  I don't know if there's something wrong with my settings but when I press M-f (forward a word) it doesn't matter where I am, it never place the cursor in the next word (just between words). This doesn't happen with M-b which place my cursor in the beginning of the previous word. Is this a normal behavior? How do I place my cursor at the beginning of the following word?

  The question comes from MS Outlook calendar behavior. Imagine I have two recurring events (starting from today): "each second Monday" and "every odd date". Is there any way to check intersections and/or find the first intersecting date algorithmically without brute-forcing over each date? Definitions can be made in CRON's notations or ICal notation. I think it doesn't matter. Are there any solutions for this in Gregorian calendar?

  I'm trying to learn some Smalltalk. Fisrt found was Squeak, but since it has been removed from Gentoo ebuild tree because of security problem, so I decided to find an alternative. Then I found Pharo through Seaside project, after I downloaded Pharo 1.0 package, there are actually a SqueakVM inside! So, my question is: Is Pharo just a repackaging/rebranding of Squeak? And are those security problem of Squeak (bundle unsecure libs) still applied to Pharo? Thanks!

  Is there a way to have a ToolStripMenuItem not closing when I click a child control (in its DropDrowItems Collection)? In my case, I have some ToolStripMenuItems that work as a check box. Actually, I implemented a radio behavior in some ToolStripMenuItems using their Check property. But I don't want the menu closing when I click any of them, because they aren't an action, they represent just options in the menu item. Is that possible?
