  Hi, I'm following this article Using Repository and Unit of Work patterns with Entity Framework 4.0. I'm tying to implement the Repository and Unit of work pattern, using Asp.Net MVC 2 and Entity Framework 4. Please let me know if I'm doing it right... In the Models folder: Northwind.edmx Products.cs (POCO class) ProductRepository.cs (Did my product query) IProductRepository.cs NorthwindContext.cs IUnitOfWork.cs In the Controller folder: ProductController.cs (Retrieve from ProductRepository.cs and Pass it to the view) When I run the application, I'm getting error message: Mapping and metadata information could not be found for EntityType 'NorthwindMvcPoco.Models.Category'. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I search through whole web and I couldn't resolve this issue. Please help me.

• Gitosis alternative?

  Are there alternatives to gitosis that are easier to use? I currently run gitosis on a Ubuntu server for my lab. We regularly add new users and repos. I find the gitosis.conf syntax non-intuitive, and if I make even a minor mistake the whole gitosis system fails, see for example this question on SO. When gitosis fails it also kills access to the git repository that contains gitosis.conf... go figure... There must be a better way. I've thought about private GitHub accounts, but is there anything else that I could host locally?

  I want to show terms and condition note on my website. I dont want to use text field and also dont want to use my whole page. I just want to display my text in selected area and want to use only vertical scroll-bar to go down and read all text. • Using chilkat to extract RAR files with progress bar?

  Hello. Does anyone know how to show the progress of archives extracting, when using chilkat? I already have a progress bar called "progressBar1" on my form. At the moment the whole program freezes when extraction is started. Maybe have another thread? • ItemsControl.ItemsSource MVVM perormance

  I have an (non-virtualized) ItemsControl that binds its ItemsSource to a ObeservableCollection of ViewModel instances. Now once the large amount Model instances is loaded all the ViewModel complemnents needs to be added to that ObservableCollection. How can I add a large amount of ViewModels without making the UI Thread hang? I suppose the UI Thread hangs because each time a new item is added the ItemsControl needs to update itself and does layout etc. over and over again. Should I suspend the binding add all items and then resume? If so, how? Should I override the ObservableCollection to implement an AddRange so only 1 CollectionChanged Event is fired for adding multiple items? Or alternatively just replace the whole collection? Or is it better to add each items separately and call Dispatcher.Invoke for each item separately? So I would unblock frequently. How do you handle large dynamic lists that can not be virtualized?

I think, that it has to be done by greedy algorithm, however I haven't spend much time thinking about that. I suppose, You may enjoy solving this problem, and I will get my answer. Win-win situation :). Problem N people come to a river in the night. There is a narrow bridge, but it can only hold two people at a time. Because it's night, the torch has to be used when crossing the bridge. Every person can cross the bridge in some (given) time (person n1 can cross the bridge in t1 time, person n2 in t2 time etc.). When two people cross the bridge together, they must move at the slower person's pace. What is the mimimal time for the whole grup to cross the bridge?

• iPad Simulator WebView/Google Maps API Issue

  I've only recently updated XCode to 3.2.2 and started to play with the iPad simulator. I am having an issue with a WebView. I am using it to load a url with a Google Maps API implementation. The map loads and displays properly but when I try and click and drag on it to pan the map around instead of the map being panned the whole webview is scrolled vertically, revealing the dark grey background. When I release it it bounces back into place. Also when I hold the option key down to pinch the map it does not respond. If I load the map.google.com page the map pans just fine and is responsive, but not my one. No special code here, just the usual NSUrlRequest. It works fine in the iPhone simulator, but not the iPad simulator. User Interaction Enabled is also checked. Any thoughts on why this is happening?

  Ive recently started using CodeIgniter as I was searching for a very lightweight framework and it seemed to come up as a top choice. I am new to the whole MVC thing, enjoying it but am stuck with something which seems very simple. I am coding a CMS and need a way to filter, sort and paginate the results. I am used to doing it with querystrings, so I would have something along the lines of: articles.php?order=title&sort=desc&filter=articletitle&page=5 I have no idea how I would go about doing this in CI so I just turned on the EnableQueryStrings in the config and it works fine, but i am getting the feeling its probably not the most elegant solution. I suppose I could have index.php/articles/index/order/title/sort/desc/filter/articletitle/page/5 but to me this seems very inflexible, what if for example i dont need to sort, how would i make sure i am looking at the correct uri segment? any ideas?

• Nested/Child TransactionScope Rollback

  I am trying to nest TransactionScopes (.net 4.0) as you would nest Transactions in SQL Server, however it looks like they operate differently. I want my child transactions to be able to rollback if they fail, but allow the parent transaction to decide whether to commit/rollback the whole operation. A greatly simplified example of what I am trying to do: static void Main(string[] args) { using(var scope = new TransactionScope()) // Trn A { // Insert Data A DoWork(true); DoWork(false); // Rollback or Commit } } // This class is a few layers down static void DoWork(bool fail) { using(var scope = new TransactionScope()) // Trn B { // Update Data A if(!fail) { scope.Complete(); } } } I can't use the Suppress or RequiresNew options as Trn B relies on data inserted by Trn A. If I do use those options, Trn B is blocked by Trn A. Any ideas how I would get it to work, or if it is even possible using the System.Transactions namespace? Thanks

• AJAX get data from large HTML page as the large HTML page loads

  Not entirely sure whether this has a name but basically I have a large HTML page that is generated from results in a db. So viewing the HTML page (which is a report) in a browser directly does not display all contents immediately but displays what it has and additional HTML is added as the results from the DB are retrieved... Is there a way I can make an AJAX request to this HTML page and as opposed to waiting until the whole page (report) is ready, I can start processing the response as the HTML report is loaded? Or is there another way of doing it? Atm I make my AJAX response it just sits there for a minute or two until the HTML page is complete... If context is of any use: The HTML report is generated by a Java servlet and the page making the AJAX call is a JSP page. Unfortunately I can't very easily break the report up because it is generated by BIRT (Eclipse reporting extension). Thanks in advance.

  Just a quick question: There's the entity (for example User) who is connected with the ManyToMany relationship to the same entity (for example this relation describes "friendship" and it is symmetric). What is the fastest way in terms of execution time to check if User A is a "friend" of user B? The "dumb" way would be to fetch whole List and then check if user exists there but that's obviously the overhead. • How do I make silverlight button transparent while showing the image?

  I have a button that is programatically created, it's content is a stack panel with an image and a textblock. This all works great. I want to make the button behind the image and text transparent, so that the image and text looks like it's sitting on the background, but still have all the properties of the button (i.e. someone clicks in the button region it still registers the button click event). I have been playing with opacities, but every opacity I play with dealing with the button seems to set the whole button (image and text included) to that opacity value as well. How can I make the button opaque while making the text and image content still visible? Oh, this is silverlight 3. Thanks in advance.

• problem with codeigniter using odbc database driver

  i’ve run into a curious problem with codeigniter's odbc driver. i’m connecting from a linux machine to an MSSQL 2008 machine using FreeTDS. while i get that the ‘num_rows’ function always returns -1, and that is fully a database/driver issue - for some reason when i try to create a -result(), the whole application crashes (error 500, sometimes just a blank page), if i’m lucky, i get an error message informing me that the application died because it tried to allocated 2 terrabytes of memory(!). This happens irregularly, ie: every few refreshes. sometimes it runs fine, sometimes the page returns error 500 and sometimes it gives the memory allocation error - in any case it’s not really something that can be reproduced with percision, and the queries are SUPER simple. ideas anyone?

  What benefit does using wmode give if you're not needing transparency? I've look through this forum and found posts talking about the different wmode attributes here, but I want to know why I need to use it in the first place and if removing it will break anything else. My application uses wmode="opaque" at the moment but it seems to stop scrolling in Firefox. I use JavaScript focus() to allow the user to type directly into the flash ap. Otherwise I'm using the stock standard Flex Builder 3 HTML template. Edit: The ap uses the whole page, without any additional elements needing to be displayed over the flash part.

  hi, I am in the conversion process of facebook app from fbml to iframe. Now i am testing using few iframe pages. $user = $facebook->require_login(); It gives the current user logged in. Once it get the variable from the facebook.com it saves in cookie by the PHP API provided by facebook). I logged out using another tab of facebook and i tryed using my app without refreshing the whole site (by just using the links inside my app). It still gives the $user variable. It indicates that user has logged in instead of user logged out. Please help me out. I want my app secured. It looks my iframe app accessible when we select "open this frame in new window".   Hey guys, I need to add some kind of archiving functionality to a Objective-C Trie implementation (NDTrie on github), but I have very little experience with C and it's data structures. struct trieNode { NSUInteger key; NSUInteger count, size; id object; __strong struct trieNode ** children; __strong struct trieNode * parent; }; @interface NDTrie (Private) - (struct trieNode*)root; @end What I need is to create an NSData with the tree structure from that root - or serialize/deserialize the whole tree some other way (conforming to NSCoding?), but I have no clue how to work with NSData and a C struct containing pointers. Performance on deserializing the resulting object would be crucial, as this is an iPhone project and I will need to load it in the background every time the app starts. What would be the best way to achieve this? Thanks!

• Silverlight RIA Services. Query fails on large table but works with Where clause

  I have a somewhat large table, maybe 2000 rows by 50 columns. When using the most basic imaginable RIA implementation. Create one-table Model Create DomainService Drop datagrid onto MainPage.xaml Drop datasource onto datagrid Ctrl-F5 I get this error: System.ServiceModel.DomainServices.Client.DomainOperationException: Load operation faild for query. Value cannot be null. Error is much larger, but thats the beginning of it. The weird thing is that if I narrow the results down with a where clause on the GetQuery, it works fine. In fact six different querys which together result in all of the rows being called works fine also. So basically, I'm sure its not some sort of rogue row. Why do I get this "Value cannot be null" error if I query the whole table? Thanks

But for me it does not work. Calling app/console translation:extract de --dir=src/ --output-dir=app/Resources/translations --output-format=xliff --keep Just puts all messages in the messages.de.xliff file. But if I set the domain manually for a given label like {{ label.name|trans({}, 'app') }} And execute the same extract command as above, then I get a new file app.de.xliff Is there anything more to do when using trans_default_domain?

  Hi, im getting "Bus Error" trying to read stdin into a char* variable. I just want to read whole stuff coming over stdin and put it first into a variable, then continue working on the variable. My Code is as follows: char* content; char* c; while( scanf( "%c", c)) { strcat( content, c); } fprintf( stdout, "Size: %d", strlen( content)); But somehow i always get "Bus error" returned by calling "cat test.txt | myapp", where "myapp" is the compiled code above. My question is how do i read stdin until EOF into a variable? As you see in the code, i just want to print the size of input coming over stdin, in this case it should be equal to the size of the file "test.txt". I thought just using scanf would be enough, maybe buffered way to read stdin?

With this Code I can only Copy the Value of the last focused Cell. I´ve tried to make this for a whole Row, but it´s only working with Cells.   Howdy, I'm having big trouble testing with rSpec's controller API. Right now I'm using a middleware authentication solution (Warden), and when I run the specs, the proxy added by the middleware is not there, and all the authentication tests are throwing NilPointerExceptions all over the place. It seems rSpec is not adding the middleware to the final app on purpose, and I would like to know if there is a way to monkey patch rSpec in order to make that go. I already tested the whole thing with cucumber, however this is a refactoring of an old authentication version and there is several Controller tests that depend on authentication logic in order to work. • getting count(*) using createSQLQuery in hibernate?

  I have several sql queries that I simply want to fire at the database. I am using hibernate throughout the whole application, so i would prefer to use hibernate to call this sql queries. In the example below i want to get count + name, but cant figure out how to get that info when i use createSQLQuery(). I have seen workarounds where people only need to get out a single "count()" from the result, but in this case I am using count() + a column as ouput SELECT count(*), a.name as count FROM user a WHERE a.user_id IN (SELECT b.user_id FROM user b) GROUP BY a.name HAVING COUNT(*) BETWEEN 2 AND 5; fyi, the above query would deliver a result like this if i call it directly on the database: 1, John 2, Donald 1, Ralph ...

I was expecting "ugly" at C:/www/test.pl line 8. If instead I die pp(%ModPerl::ROOT::ModPerl::Registry::C_3a_www_test_2epl::); ...after restarting the service to clear any cached variables, face is not even listed. I could have sworn this code was working the last time I used it...I wrote a whole die hook around this way of naming local variables so that I could get at certain local variables to dump debug information. What's the local namespace?
