• How Flask loads blueprint internaly?

  I'm just interested how Flask's blueprints gets imported. It still imports the python module at the end of all the stuff done by Flask and if I'm right python does two things when importing: registers the module name in the namespace and then initialize it if needed. So if Flask blueprint is initialized when it gets registered, so all the module then is in memory and if there are lots of blueprints to register, the memory just gets wasted, because in one request basically you use one blueprint. Not a big loss but still... But if it is only registered in the namespace and initialized only when needed (when the real request reaches it), then it make sense to register them all at once (as is the recommended way I understood). This is I guess the case here :) But just wanted to ask and understand a bit deeper.

• Java Web App: Passing form parameters across multiple pages

  Hi, what is the best practice or best way of passing form parameters from page to page in a flow? If I have a flow where a user enters data in a form and hits next and repeats this process until they get to an approval page, what ways could I approach this problem to make the retention of data as simple as possible over the flow? I guess you could put all the information as you go in the session but could you get into memory issues if a lot of people are using your app and going through the flow at the same time?

• performing a Http request on android

  Hi, Could someone provide the basic code to use if I want to perform a http request on android to the address "address" with the string "message" ? Also I'd like to check the server response and perform some actions if the right conditions meet , but I ' m unsure of how and when the server send back the response . My guess is that the response is gotten in a blocking function, or in an asynchronous function . Could you provide code or information on this as well ? • EF 4.x generated entity classes (POCO) and Map files

  I have an MVC 4 app that I am working on and using the code first implementation except I cheated a bit and created my database first then generated my entity classes (poco) from my database using the EF power tools (reverse engineer). I guess you can say I did database first method but I have no edmx file just the context class and my entity classes (poco) I have a few projects in the works using MVC and EF with pocos but just the one project I used the tool to generate my pocos from the database. My question is about the mapping files that get created when I generate my pocos using the tool. What is the purpose of these Map files? I figured the map files are needed when generating the db from the model like with the true code first method, in my case where I am using a tool to generate my model from the database do the map files have any influence on how my app uses the entity classes?

• functions in F# .. why is it not compiling

  Hi, I have written two versions of code. The first one works as expected and print "Hi". the second one gives me error that "block following this let is unfinished" 1st version #light let samplefn() = let z = 2 let z = z * 2 printfn "hi" samplefn() 2nd version #light let samplefn() = let z = 2 let z = z * 2 samplefn() Only difference is the printfn is absent in the second version. I am using Visual Studio 2010 as my IDE. I am very new to F# but this error seems very strange to me. I guess I am missing some very important concept. Please explain. • Using NSUserDefaults to load data depending on which table view cell is pressed

  I want my app to work just like the 'contacts' app on iOS. When a user selects a certain TableViewCell, i want to load certain data. No Matter which cell is pressed, Either "Joseph, Richard, or Shannon", This view comes up: Both of the views look the exact same, but they just display different information. So i guess my question is: How can I programmatically set a key @"cell1" @"cell2", etc... for each cell using NSUserDefaults? But here is the catch, I dont know how many cells will be added, so i cant hard code this, How can I create a key for each table view cell for how ever many is added? Thanks for the help!

• How to block the possibility to add the same record to a SPList?

  Hi, Is there a possibility to block chance to add the same data to SPList? I know that two records always are different regarding the ID field. I would like to validate other custom fields added previously by me, and don't allow of adding same field's value. Can anybody tell me how to implement this? I can guess that event receivers could be the answer but I couldn't find how to add a receiver to SPList. Can anybody tel me If I'm right and what is step by step procedure to add such event receiver? I would like to know how to build it and install it using Feature file. Best Regards T.S.

  Hi, I want to find out if I can get some data on the percentage wise distribution of video content, for different video codecs currently used for video encoding. I know there are different applications/use-case scenarios which have different encoder used but i want to consdier all that and have a overall usage number(%) My guess is(highest to lowest % of content) - H.264(AVC) DivX MPEG2 VP6 Where do H.263, MPEG4, VC-1, RV, Theora, etc. fit in here. • MS Access - Keeping track (transacation) of all activity while form is open...

  Hi and thanks for reading. I am not a database/vba guy and my experience is strictly in the JAVA world. However, I need to have an ACCESS form open. While it is open and new data is entered into it (via the underlying query OR any other data changes in other tables based on sql updates attached to buttons on this form), is there a way that I can initiate a transaction so that at the bottom of the form I could have a button that says "Exit and committ changes" or "Cancel and Rollback changes". I guess I thought of a situation where I could do something like: On Form OPEN, START TRANSACTION On "CLICK OK", COMMIT TRANSACTION or ON "CLICK CANCEL" ROLLBACK. I'm aware how to do the Workspace.BeginTransaction but I'm not sure if that will apply if I do it on FORM OPEN and then on FORM CLOSE do the COMMIT/ROLLBACK locgin? Any insight would be great.

• Testing whether an event has happened after a period of time in jQuery

  I'm writing a script for a form-faces xforms product that is keyed off an event built into form faces. The event is called 'xforms-ready'. I have define 'startTime' as happening as soon as the document in 'ready'. What I want the script to do is warn the user that it is taking too long before the 'xforms-ready' happens, say if it's been 6 seconds since 'startTime'. I can easily do things when the 'xforms-ready' event happens using the code below: new EventListener(document.documentElement, "xforms-ready", "default", function() { var endTime = (new Date()).getTime(); } ); however the warning will want to happen before 'endTime' is defined. So I guess I want something that works like this: If 6 seconds has passed since startTime and endTime is not yet defined do X or possibly more efficiently: If 6 seconds has passed since startTime and 'xforms-ready' has not yet happened do X Can anyone suggest a way of doing this?

• ScrollViewr around expanders not scrolling automatically when expander is expanded - silverlight 3

  I have several expanders inside a ScrollViewer in a fixed sized ChildWindow. The problem is when each expander expanded,the scroll will not scrolling down automatically and as a result,some of the items in the bottom will get hidden and we have to manually scroll down to see them. • Discovering the default gateway without DHCP

  A crazy question, but is there anyway to discover the default gateway without DHCP? This would be for a device on a network which does not use DHCP which does not have an IP address as yet. I was thinking if I could discover the default gateway, then i could try to guess an unused ip address then broadcast on the network to see if it's being used. I may be asking for trouble i understand. E.g. if there is already a computer which has a static IP and is shutdown.

• MySQL : incrementing text id in DB

  I need to have text IDs in my application. For example, we have acceptable charset azAZ09, and allowed range of IDs [aaa] - [cZ9]. First generated id would be aaa, then aab, aac, aad e.t.c. How one can return ID & increment lower bound in transaction-fashion? (provided that there are hundreds of concurrent requests and all should have correct result) To lower the load I guess it's possible to define say 20 separate ranges, and return id from random range - this should reduce contention, but it's not clear how to do single operation in the first place. Also, please note that number of IDs in range might exceed 2^32. Another idea is having ranges of 64-bit integers, and converting integer-char id in software code, where it could be done asyncroniously. Any ideas?

• menuitem id in xml format can't be an integer? huh. really?

  ok, in menu.add, you add an integer menuitem id. But when you specify the menu in xml, @+id can't take an integer, so you can't test the id for the menu item as an integer in a switch statement. What obvious thing am I missing, because surely an inconsistency this bone-stupid couldn't have passed muster with all those wonderful geniuses at Google. on top of that, when I give the menu item a name like "@+id/myMenuItem", item.getItemId() returns an integer, a long one, which I guess is a representation of the hex pointer. I've got a Border on a canvas, and i want to be able to move it around. i could do this easily with the MouseDragElementBehavior. but i don't want smooth movment, i want to to jump on the Y axis in an offset of 30. and on the X in 193. And it's done in MVVM, so i guess i should implement it as a behavior, right? anyway, how do i do this?

• C socket programming: recv / select not seeing sent messages

  Hey guys, I had some questions, about socket programming for client-server using TCP/IP. I am using select() to recv(), which works fine when client send() messages to server, but not the other way around. The send() returns positive (and reasonable) numbers of bytes sent by server but I know that the nubmer of bytes "sent" really means "sent out of the socket", not "sent and was received by the client." The select() function seems to work fine. So given that, my guess is that it's the send() function that is giving me the problem. Probably the address of client in send() is not correct. But when I compared address.sin_addr.s_addrmember (it's an unsigned long int) of struct sockaddr_in from recv() and send() of server, they are identical. So I am kind of lost as to what could be wrong?

• can rails send data to browser chunk by chunk?

  Hello all, I have a very large dataset (100,000) to be display, but any browser I tried that on including chrome 5 dev, it make them choke for dozens of seconds (win7 64bit, 4gb, 256gb ssd, c2duo 2.4ghertz). I did a little experiment by some_controller.rb def show @data = (1..100000).to_a end show.html.erb <% @data.each do |d| % <%= d.to_s % <% end% as simple as that it chokes the browsers. I know browsers were never built for this, so I thought to let the data come in chunk by chunk, I guess 2000 per chunk is reasonable, but I wouldn't want to make 50 requests each time this view is called, any ideas? It doesn't have to be chunk by chunk if it can be sent all at once. Best,

• Rename files to increment filenumber using PowerShell?

  Hi, I've got a bunch of files named attachment.023940 attachment.024039 attachment.024041 attachment.024103 etc... I need to rename the files by incrementing the filenumber by a given number. (So that they match the right ID in a database) I guess I could write a C# application that uses RegEx to parse the filename, but I assume this is a task that could be accomplished in PowerShell as well? I've found several other threads on SO about using PowerShell to rename files, but none of them handled incrementing a filenumber. I'm on Win7, so PowerShell 2.0 is available.

• OpenGL - lighting of vertices outside clip range

  I have a problem with lighting in my OpenGL application. When one of the vertices of a drawn polygon goes outside the front clip plane (or has z<0, I'm not sure which), the polygon stops being lighted properly. This however happens on only one machine I tested, with Intel GMA950 card. On nVidia and ATI cards everything looks fine. I guess I am breaking some OpenGL rule here? How should I deal with it? I'd try dividing the scene into smaller polygons, but I'm not sure if it guarantees the case is eliminated (all polygons stepping outside the clipping range are offscreen).

• Memcachedb Versus MongoDB Versus CouchDB in terms of file based caching solution?

  We need a caching solution that essentially caches data (text files) anywhere from 3 days up to a week based on user preferences and criteria. In this case memory based caching does not make sense to us. We were referred to MemcacheDB however I also thought of some NO SQL solutions. Our current application uses RDMS (MYSQL) and I guess it makes sense to use MemcacheDB however NOSQL does appeal as it is something more on the horizon. However we have not deployed a production level application under NOSQL and the beta stuff does not settle well with management/investors. Any how what are your thoughts and how would you address it? • What's the point of having to provide a cacheName for NSFetchedResultsController?

How important is this decision? What would happen if there are two NSFetchedResultsController instances using the exact same cacheName? Does that matter? Is that some kind of singleton stuff? Thinking about Core Animation, there's also this strange animationID parameter, but setting it to the exact same thing for dozens of simultaneous animations doesn't hurt the animations at all. So I guess it's probably the same thing here...or not?

• "import as" leads to unresolved import error, "from .. import" does not

  I'm trying to write some plugins for the irc bot supybot with eclipse/pydev. Pydev gives me errors about unresolved imports on supybot-modules/packages (e. g. import supybot.utils as utils), but works ok on e. g. "from supybot.commands import *". So I guess I set up dydev correctly, as it finds the wanted modules. The problem must be in pydev/eclipse, as the bot works correct and in eric5 I get also no errors about that. Removing the interpreter and setting it up didn't help. Any other ideas on how to fix this? System: Arch Linux, Eclipse Juno, PyDev 2.7.1, wanted (and set up) python interpreter is 2.7, supybot is installed in site-packages for Python 2.7. Edit: Just noticed: PyDev doesn't mark the "from ... import *" as error, but if I use functions imported from there I get an error on that function.

• C++ union assignment, is there a good way to do this?

  I am working on a project with a library and I must work with unions. Specifically I am working with SDL and the SDL_Event union. I need to make copies of the SDL_Events, and I could find no good information on overloading assignment operators with unions. Provided that I can overload the assignment operator, should I manually sift through the union members and copy the pertinent members or can I simply come some members (this seems dangerous to me), or maybe just use memcpy() (this seems simple and fast, but slightly dangerous)? If I can't overload operators what would my best options be from there? I guess I could make new copies and pass around a bunch of pointers, but in this situation I would prefer not to do that. Any ideas welcome!

  Most web applications depend on some kind of session with the user (for instance, to retain login status). The session id is kept as a cookie in the user's browser and sent with every request. To make it hard to guess the next user's session these session-ids need to be sparse and somewhat random. The also have to be unique. The question is - how to efficiently generate session ids that are sparse and unique? This question has a good answer for unique random numbers, but it seems not scalable for a large range of numbers, simply because the array will end up taking a lot of memory.
