• Filter list as a parameter in a compiled query

  I have the following compiled query that I want to return a list of "groups" that don't have a "GroupID" that's contained in a filtered list: CompiledQuery.Compile(ConfigEntities contexty, List list) = from c in context.Groups where (!csList.Contains(c.GroupID)) select c).ToList() However I'm getting the following run-time error: The specified parameter 'categories' of type 'System.Collections.Generic.List`1[[System.Int32, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c261364e126]]' is not valid. Only scalar parameters (such as Int32, Decimal, and Guid) are supported. Any ideas?

• Advanced Form Validation in JavaScript

  I'm already familiar with how to use onSubmit to evaluate form content against RegEx to ensure it meets static parameters for acceptable content. What I'm wondering is if there is a way to further provide validation against a MySQL database, such as if you want to make sure an e-mail address hasn't been used yet before submitting a form and having to re-load the field data back into the proper places for correction.

• ASP MVC dynamic fields in editor

  I have a form which will include some optional questions that need to asked of the user. In my model it may look like pubic Dictionary<String, String> Questions { get; set; } where the key is the label and value is the text box. How can I create and populate controls for this? I'm new to ASP MVC, but it makes sense that something like this would be built in. Is there a built in way to do this, or do I have to implement it myself? It seems like there should be a helper for it, since you don't really want to put this kind of code in the view. I've tried Html.EditorFor(model => model.Questions); but it just spits out "[key, value]" to the view.

• Easiest way to position camera in XNA?

  Everytime I load my model into XNA, I can usually see it far off in the distance. When I change some parameters and make it zoom up close, 10/10 times it's rotated funny and I'm set with the task of rotating it. Is there any easy way to do it except by experimenting? Or am I exporting it wrong (using Blender)? Is there any value I should set the objects in my 3d scene to be before exporting it so they appear 'upright'?

• CoreData could not fulfill a fault when adding new attribute

  I am receiving a "CoreData could not fulfill a fault for ..." error message when trying to access a new attribute in a new data model. If I work with new data I'm ok, but when I attempt to read existing data I get the error. Do I need to handle the entity differently myself if the attribute isn't in my original data? I was under the impression that Core Data could handle this for me. My new attribute is marked as optional with a default value. When diagram block is being resized a request is being made and new gif image is generated and send to browser. What I need is generating image of basic blocks, like rounded rectangle, circle, diamond with specified parameters (height, width and color). I want to do all server-side; my server part is written on Perl.

  I get the following error when I call a stored proc within an execute sql task in SSIS. "Description: Executing the query "Exec up_CallXXX" failed with the following error: "Incorrect syntax near '13'.". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly." The stored proc runs fine when I execute it through SSMS. Does anyone have an idea what is going on.

  As you'll no-doubt be able to tell momentarily, I have little knowledge of the programming world. That being said, here goes.... In this scenario, there's a Java-based game that has a map of the game world oriented in an X, Y coordinate tile system. Some of the grid tiles are player cities, some are non-player locations. The game runs inside a frame in the browser, the X, Y coordinate map feature is one optional view, and the entire map is not available to view at any one time. Each grid tile has an "Onclick" event and an "Onmouseover" event. The mouseover event is a tooltip, the click event is something called a "modal" that has information specific to that tile. What I'd like to find out is: How can I poll all the grid tiles' "modal" information using some kind of script or other auto-running polling feature?

In ruby I use the following: body = body << IO.read("#{@postalcard.postalimage.path}") body is a strong which conists of a bunch of strings as parameters. • Will .NET 4.0 apps work on Win 2008 R2 Server Core?

  When Windows Server 2008 R2 was launched, the "server core" edition started to become useful to me, because it lets me deploy .NET background applications isolated on their own virtual machine instance with only a small fraction of all the disk space overhead of a default Windows Server installation, and very few Windows Updates. It comes with a subset of .NET 3.5 SP1 integrated (as an optional feature). Now that .NET 4.0 is released, the redistributables explicitly state that it's not support on Server Core. Any chance that there will be a separate download available for Server Core (e. g. without WPF) any time soon, has anybody heard about it?

Based on the documentation, the "bnlearn" package does not provide for such capability. In addition, is anyone aware of R packages that allow for making inferences and sensitivity analysis for BBN?   Hi, Just wondering what the best way to build a NSPredicate is if some filters are optional? This is basically for a filter, so if some options aren't selected I don't to filter by them eg. If I have option1 and option2 set for the filter. NSPredicate* predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"option1 = %@ AND option2 = %@] .... otherwise if just option1 NSPredicate* predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"option1 = %@] .... The key being there are 10 different options to filter, so I don't want to have to code for the 10x10 possible combinations. Thanks

• Proper abstraction of the database tier in a 3 tier system?

  Hello, I am creating a 3 tier application. Basically it goes Client - (through optional server to be a thin-client) - Business Logic - Database Layer And basically making it so that there is never any skipping around. As such, I want for all of the SQL queries and such to be in the Database Layer. Well, now I'm a bit confused. I made a few static classes to start off the database tier but what should I do for the database connections? Should I just create a new database connection anytime I enter the Database Layer or would that be wasteful? Does Connection.Open() take time whenever you have a ConnectionPool? To me, it just feels wrong for the Business tier to have to pass in a IdbConnection object to the Database tier. It seems like the Database tier should handle all of that DB-specific code. What do you think? How can I do it the proper way while staying practical?

• How can I prevent MEF from throwing an exception when an Export is not found?

  I have a class with an IList<T> property decorated with the [ImportMany(allowRecomposition = true)] attribute. There are some conditions in which the application might not find any available Exports of the requested type. Right now, it's throwing a CompositionException if no Exports of the requested type are found. I dislike application flow being determined by thrown exceptions, so I would rather not catch and react in this case. Rather, I just want program execution to continue. Is there a flag or something I can set to make this Import optional? I know for single import properties, you can do this: [Import(AllowDefault = true)] but 'AllowDefault' is not an option on the ImportMany attribute.

• Using data from a dataset in styles with Mapnik

  I've setup Mapnik to connect to a PostGIS database, and display geometry. I'd like to have a column in my database called opacity, and use it as the opacity for that row of geometry when Mapnik renders it. So far, I've only found information on how to display text from the database, and how to use filters to display different styles when database values are within parameters. Nothing about how to use the values directly inside of a style or layer though - is this possible?

• When are global variables acceptable?

  Everyone here seems to hate global variables, but I see at least one very reasonable use for them: They are great for holding program parameters that are determined at program initialization and not modified afterwords. Do you agree that this is an exception to the "globals are evil" rule? Is there any other exception that you can think of, besides in quick and dirty throwaway code where basically anything goes? If not, why are globals so fundamentally evil that you do not believe that there are any exceptons?

  Hi I would like to zip a bunch of files (.exe and .dll) before I overwrite them with the new build. Is there a simple way to zip files without using some sort of dll? Just creating a folder with the build number / date time stamp will also work great. • In Scala, how does one write a class with a constructor, not all of whose arguments are class member

  I want to write class whose constructor takes two parameters, but the arguments are not actually members of the class. e.g. class P(V1:Int, V2:Int) { val set = Set(V1, V2) } Having constructed the 'set', I don't actually care about V1 and V2. Is there a way of expressing this in Scala ?
